We have been waiting for this location to open and now that it is, boy, will we be coming back at least once a month! Delicious gelato! Delicious flavors available! We are fans!!!! Stracciatella flavor is absolutely my favorite. Also tried the original chocolate which was rich and delectable. I signed up for the membership, highly recommend! read more

The employees need to be retrained on allergy protocols. While waiting in line, an employee approached us and we asked whether someone with a severe nut allergy could safely eat the gelato. The employee asked if the allergy was severe, and when we said yes, she told us they could accommodate by using fresh scoops from the back. After waiting over 30 minutes in line based on that assurance, I paid for the gelato. At that point, the employee at the front told me she would not recommend it because the gelato is made in the same bowls and there could be cross-contamination. This was extremely concerning, especially since we were previously assured it would be safe. In addition, some items were not properly labeled -- for example, the plain chocolate contained hazelnut. Food allergies are serious, and inconsistent information like this could seriously harm someone. Employees need proper training on allergy protocols, and ingredients should be clearly labeled to prevent a potentially dangerous situation. read more

Worst service. Walked in and was asked "what do you want?" I've never been and had no idea what the toppings were - it just said "grain" on the menu. So I asked the person helping and they said "you just pay for the topping it's any of these " and pointed at some cups with some kind of filling in then. So I asked what that was and she seemed frustrated and just proceeded to tell me how you have to pay in advance. I don't mind paying a bundle for good cream but this shitty service was frustrating. Then they kept making me move over while I was tasting and ordering. The gelato was whatever, too. Won't be going back. read more

We had just returned from a lovely trip to Italy which included a few nights in Venice where we discovered Venchi. And to see that a store had just opened in SCP?? What a delightful surprise! And we did a comparison between the U.S. and Venetian locations just so we can spot any differences. Happy to report that we found none and so you can expect the same quality and staff attentiveness here at the SCP branch. A bit on the pricey side but the imported chocolates taste heavenly with each bite and well worth it so indulge if you have the means to spare. Then of course you can't shop at Venchi without getting a gelato. I recommend the romantic stracciatella (seasonal for Valentine's Day) and strawberry. Ciao! read more

This place is a little pricey, but so worth it! I've had their famous Venchi chocolate in Europe, but not their gelato. It was light and fluffy, not your typical creamy gelato. I actually like it more than Bacio di Latte in Fashion Island. Service was great and they were patient with me sampling a few different flavors. I felt like a kid in a candy store (literally!); it is so colorful with all the chocolate displays. This store will thrive being next to the carousel! My favorite is the tiramisu. read more

Food: 8/10 Service: 10/10 I just visited this icecream store a couple of days ago, and it was amazing! Highly recommend the caramelized hazelnut spread around the cup. The crunch, flavor, texture? Just wonderful! It got a little too sweet for me at the end, but if you're a chocolate lover this is perfect for you. I ordered the Matcha flavor and the chocolate hazelnut flavor. The chocolate hazelnut flavor was very good and met my expectations, but it did melt pretty quickly. The matcha tasted very rich, as well. The staff was very nice and helped me get all of my samples in a heartbeat! They were very patient with me. TLDR: Venchi was delicious! read more

Life is like ice cream..enjoy it before it melts. :) Venchi (located in South Coast Plaza ~ across from the merry-go-round, on a corner lot across from the elevator) was the perfect ending to a yummy-filled day. Been waiting to try this place since it opened, but definitely waited til the hype died down a bit cuz I heard the lines can get pretty cray. After finishing dinner at DTF, my friends and I stopped by for a sweet night cap. It was about 9 pm on a Friday night when we did and the line wasn't bad at all. There were a couple people ahead of us and the line moved pretty quickly. Upon getting to the front, you are asked to order & pay for what size you want ~ baby, regular or large. We opt'd for the regular because you get to try up to 2 different flavors. Baby size only allows you to get 1 and with large, you can choose up to 3. Since I shared with the hubs, we got one fruity flavor (strawberry) and one more rich (baciodidama = hazelnut & crunchy biscuit). They also ask if you want a free chocolate disc, to top it all off. Always say YES! Cuz duh..why not. Lol Both flavors were very good, very creamy, not overly sweet at all. The hazelnut flavor gave me flashbacks to eating a Ferrero Rocher candy. This place was very reminiscent of Gelato Paradiso..for those know, will know. The price point is a bit on the higher side for the size you get, but you are paying for quality and their prime real estate..so it isn't too bad. They had quite a variety of flavors to choose from and from what I hear, the popular ones do run out by the end of the night. It's a very cutesy vibe. Very bright and open inside. Their signature chocolate fountain/waterfall was pretty cool. Sooo reminded me of Willy Wonka & the chocolate factory. There was also a cool chocolate wall, with every type of chocolate your heart desires. It's very vibrant and in colors and modern in decor. Totally IG-pic worthy. There is a small sitting area, but was pretty packed so we sat outside by the merry-go-round instead, to enjoy our dessert. The staff was super nice & helpful in giving samples to any flavor ice cream we wanted to try before locking it in. RxFoodie approved & recommend!!! Super yums! read more

My friends and I decided to come here on a weekday afternoon because the mall usually isn't packed! We've been wanting to check this place out, we were helped by Vincent for some chocolates! Super friendly and nice guy helping us out with samples as well! Gelato: stracciatella & baciodidama were decent however it wasn't amazing like bacio di latte. I would personally come back for their chocolates! read more

Stopped by for a quick snack and was immediately struck by the divine, modern decor. While the line grew quickly, the gelato was worth the wait--the flavors are exquisite, and I'm already planning a return trip for the chocolates! However, the service flow could use some refinement. The "pay first" policy caused a lot of confusion, with customers being redirected while trying to browse flavors. Allowing guests to pick their flavors while waiting might streamline the process and reduce idle time. Additionally, our server seemed quite overwhelmed and slightly inconvenienced during the rush since we didn't know which flavors we wanted yet given we had no time to browse the flavors prior, though he appeared visibly relieved to be clocking out shortly after. Overall, it's a great spot for a high-end treat, provided you're prepared for a slightly chaotic queue. read more

I finally got to try this place and was lucky enough to only have 2 customers in front of me since I always see a long line outside the door. I tried the stracciatella flavored gelato with a chocolate chip covered cup. A little on the pricey side but thats expected at south coast plaza. The staff were friendly and attentive with each customer letting us try whatever samples we wanted. I would love to go back and try other flavors. read more

Venchi at South Coast Plaza is pure fun, the kind of place that always has a line out the door for a reason. Everything looks glossy and perfect behind the glass, and the gelato is rich, clean, and super satisfying, with that signature Venchi chocolate vibe that feels a little indulgent in the best way. One thing to know, they can't serve cones because of the mall policy. I'll be honest, I love the crunch and the cone is a big part of the ice cream experience for me, so that was a bummer. Still, if you're craving a high quality scoop in a cup and you don't mind the wait, it's absolutely worth it. More on social media: @ratedbymaryam read more

I had such a wonderful experience at this newly opened Venchi shop in South Coast Plaza today, and I have to give a huge shoutout to Ashley for making it truly special. This was my first time visiting this location- I've been to the Venchi inside Eataly in LA many times. Ashley came right over to assist me and was incredibly helpful in selecting chocolates for my daughter and her teacher for Valentine's Day. She made thoughtful recommendations, offered samples, and really took the time to understand what I was looking for. I originally came in just to shop for my daughter's teacher, but because the experience was so great, I ended up selecting chocolates for my daughter as well. Ashley also shared that they carry the hazelnut spread with an olive oil base, which made me so happy! I used to love getting that from the Westfield Eataly location, so on a whim I purchased that, too. Overall, Ashley made the experience fantastic from start to finish. I highly recommend this location, and if you're looking for a genuinely friendly, positive, and memorable shopping experience, definitely go see Ashley. She's amazing! read more

Will absolutely be going back here. I also love that everything is individually wrapped. I feel like this would be a great party favor and the pricing was very reasonable. This was my first time coming here it's located inside of south coast plaza mall. Yesterday, my sister told me how she wanted to try this spot so we came here. I got their three candies which are CHOCOVIAR RASPBERRY, MILK HAZELNUT INGOT, and WHITE SALTED INGOT. The milk hazelnut ingot was delicious, great flavor of the chocolate, and love the crunch of the hazelnut. The white salted ingot was delicious, great flavor, and the nuts give it a good crunch. The chocoviar raspberry was delicious, love the colors of chocolate shell and raspberry, and the filling was flavored with raspberries. I got their gelato yesterday it was interesting I got a tiramisu which has Mascarpone, cocoa, and coffee. I wasn't a big fan of coffee beans it was bitter but the mascarpone was good. I was a big fan of the matcha flavor which was slightly bitter, creamy, earthy, with a good note of pistachio and lemon. The service was fast & employee is very nice and friendly. The store has a great atmosphere, spacious, and clean. Their seating is a little small if you would like to sit and enjoy your gelato. There is plenty of parking. I would definitely come back here to try their gelato and get more chocolate when I would swing by to south coast plaza mall for shopping. read more

Does anyone checked their receipt when you go and buy from this store? Well you should!!! We were here today and had 2 transactions, and I know for a fact that I did not push the options for tips, because I was not satisfied with the service. The staff rang me up but did not asked for a receipt, but I did hear her say $17 and some change. It's was for 2 medium size cups came up to about $17+ And I also bought about 5 pcs of the wrap white chocolates it was about $15.99 a pound it's came to $11+. So we got home and after rested for a little, I check my credit card for charges that I bought today and saw the 2 charges from this store was different from what was purchased today. I know tips our optional, why would they charge tip automatically, is that even legal for a store the sells ice cream and chocolate???!! SO PLEASE make sure you get your receipt and double check it!!!! I'll be calling their US base corporate office to investigate this! I know it's not much, but it's not legal!!!! I'm not a gelato expert, but this is easily the best gelato I've had in the OC. The flavors are incredibly rich, creamy, and full of depth. My only complaint is the wait. There was a long line to get in but once inside I kinda felt like we were in an upscale Willy wonka factory. You can sample as many gelato and chocolate as you want which was so fun for a foodie like me. My kids ordered the gelato but I ordered one of the biscoff ones. So fresh and delish. The only reason I took off one star is because the prices are exorbitant for what you get. But being that it's located in south coast plaza I understand at the same time. I'd recommend it if you're there though. Yum! read more

Great place, galato is really good. Expensive but good. The worst thing about this place is the supervisor and her lack of customer service which is the biggest turn off. I actually will not come back because of her. She was completely rude and mean, completely unnecessary. She rushed me to figure out what we wanted, again... first time here, I don't even know what's on the menu at this point. She raised her voice to come to the register closer and had no patience for me to sign up for their rewards program. Demanded the paper with the QR code for the rewards program back while I was still reviewing the other things on the paper. Then she proceeded to rush me and my party of 8 throughout the entire time we were here. Kept telling us to move down when we are STILL picking our favors. For our first time here excited to try this fancy, expensive place. She was so focused on rushing us, I didn't even get to have a good sampling experience and didn't get to try everything I wanted to. Thank goodness the one that served us was very nice, thus the 2 star. Otherwise this review would only be 1 star! Will the owner post when her days off are so I can come on those days only!? read more

This rating is more for their customer service. Really wanted to like this place but perhaps since they are new, their staff needs to be trained on customer service skills. But looking at a couple other reviews, looks like customer service isn't their priority. read more

We came here after eating at CALO looking for dessert. We were excited to get some gelato. A couple in front of us got a few samples and walked out. I don't understand how this place gets such good customer service reviews. I was waiting in line for 10 minutes waiting for the group in front of me to finish ordering their gelato while I thought the other male staff was helping another customer. He wasn't, he was making a milkshake for someone else but it seems like the two staff were helping one group of customers. When the woman staff finally finished she helped the next person in line with gelato. After the male staff delivered the milkshake to another customer he proceeded to help another white woman who came in line after me. He needs to be retrained on how to assist customers in an orderly fashion cause even after I said I was next in line he gives me the excuse that he's going to help the other customer first with her chocolate and his coworker can help me with the gelato. I told him I wasn't ordering gelato I wanted a coffee drink and could he help me first since I was the next customer. He then deems me worthy of being helped and proceeds to ring me up and goes to work the espresso machine. Then his coworker starts to ring me up again as he's preparing the drink. The two workers are both so unorganized and the shop did not have a line out at that point. Idk if they're prioritizing customers based on their gratuity fee they're sneaking in but this place definitely does not have good customer service. And their flimsy cup that held my Americano continuously splashed out of the paper lid and burned my hand as I walked away with it. For such a high end store they could spend more on their paper products and their coffee doesn't even taste that great. read more

I can't say for sure it was racism(from server Alicia), but the service felt unfair and unkind. This place wasn't busy at all, and while I was holding my baby, I was trying to sample two flavors. The server, Alicia, came up to me and told me I needed to pay first in a noticeably impatient tone. (While other worker just gave me samples before I buy it) Anyways I went and paid the regular size gelato cup. She seemed visibly annoyed that I took a moment to get my wallet out (again..I was holding a baby..) What made things worse was the portion I received. My gelato cup wasn't full which felt unfair. Right after serving me, I noticed her giving another customer a completely full portion. read more

I was really excited to try the new Venchi at South Coast Plaza since it's a well-known Italian chocolate and gelato brand, but my experience was extremely disappointing--twice now. The staff member named Dereck was very rude and had a terrible attitude. He barely communicated with us, showed no friendliness, and seemed annoyed by simple requests. When we asked to add chocolate pieces on top of our gelato, he grabbed one and aggressively press it down into the cup in a rough, unnecessary way that felt hostile. This is my second visit, and both times the service has been poor. The gelato itself might be good, but the attitude from staff ruins the whole experience. I won't be returning, and I don't recommend this location unless they improve their customer service. read more

I stopped by after hearing there was a new gelato shop at South Coast Plaza and decided to give it a try. I ordered a cup with two flavors. At most ice cream or gelato shops, when you order two flavors they split the scoop fairly evenly. That's not what happened here. The cup was filled about 95% with hazelnut, and the second flavor was just lightly spread on top to make it look like a half-and-half scoop. It felt a bit misleading and honestly pretty disappointing. It made me question the shop's business mindset. Was the matcha really that expensive? Because of this experience, I don't really feel motivated to come back. And if I ever do, I definitely won't order multiple flavors again. To be fair, the gelato itself was rich, creamy, and very tasty. But the way the scoop was served left a bad impression. Bottom line: Great gelato flavor, but the way they portion multiple flavors feels misleading. read more
