    100% dark chocolate!!

Delicious gelato and chocolate shop that generally has a line for the gelato on weekends but I stopped by today and there was no wait at all. I tried two samples of the gelatos (both creamy and satisfying) and also was able to pick any piece of chocolate to sample. I decided to try their new Chocoviar 75% dark and it was so yummy with 3 textures of high quality 75% dark chocolate in one piece. The store feels welcoming and colorful, as do the store associates. Fall packaging just came out with brightly colored orange boxes in time for Halloween or general fall gifting.

Hmm. I was drawn here by the extremely long line. I got a regular/ medium cup. I got half chocolate with hazelnut and half a type that had cookies in it. The ice cream or Gelato was very creamy. It tasted good. I had a few issues. Almost every flavor had hazelnuts in it. I like them thankfully. But, there were too many nuts. The prices are very high. They charge to coat the cup in chocolate or hazelnut mix too. I didn't realize that was an additional charge until I saw the bill. The sizes are very small. I didn't feel like I got a lot for my money. It felt like very fancy in appearance without a lot of substance.

I forgot the flavors i had here but it was both good. The gelato was creamy and not too sweet. They have a variety of different flavors that all looks good, so definitely have to come back to try. The only downside that it's extremely small for what you're paying for. But regardless, worth to try it at least once

Small cup with vanilla and hazelnut. Chocolates were a nice addition, and had a chocolate hazelnut crusted cup.

Nice gelato and chocolate spot in South Coast Plaza. I hadn't been to this spot before, but a too good to go bag made it worth the trip. There was a decent line when I arrived but it went relatively quick. Place was cute with a chocolate fountain screen and walls of chocolate right next to the South Coast Plaza carousel. Grabbed my bag of assorted mystery chocolate, which so far has been delicious, but decided to grab some gelato while I was there. It seemed a bit pricey at $12, but it's in South Coast Plaza, what do you expect? Got a small with a scoop of hazelnut and vanilla in a hazelnut crusted cup. Quite tasty. Overall a good experience and staff was nice and helpful amidst the chaos. Headed over the the fountain to eat since I would probably be yelled at if I ate on the carousel. Would stop by with friends next time, and I have enough chocolate to occupy me for a month. Solid spot.

mango sorbet and raspberry chocolate cup

First time trying and it was pretty yummy. The mango sorbet is refreshing and it paired really well with the raspberry chocolate cup. It was expensive but worth the sweet treat here and there!! They had lots of other good rich flavors too like dark chocolate. The line was pretty long, but it moved quickly. The employees were also really kind and accommodating, letting you try the flavors before finalizing. The space is nice and fancy. I loved that there's a case of chocolates on display, and I will have to go back to check out the chocolates next time.

Venchi is an excellent addition to South Coast Plaza! Both aesthetically pleasing to the eye and with yummy treats. We were shopping one day and walked past this store. Curious to see why the long line, we soon learned it is a new gelato place, but we didn't feel like waiting in line that day. We came back another day on a Thursday evening and there wasn't a line. A staff let us know we can sample a piece of chocolate. It was delicious! So we decided to grab a few pieces to come home with us. Not cheap, but worth every penny. We also popped over to the other side of the store for some gelato. They let you sample some flavors. I got the chocolate and pistachio. I love the texture. It reminds me of a rocky road. My sister and husband both got different flavors too and I got to tried theirs. All were good! We would definitely come back for the gelato when we're at the mall shopping.

We saw a longgggggggg line out the door and decided to stand in it. They had the logistics thought out where you pick the cup size and pay at door before heading over to the fridge. But trick is you can just walk to middle of the store to purchase some chocolates then slide over to the gelato line bypassing the 30 people in front of you. Anything pistachio is super yummy here. They're on the sweeter side though. We went with the baby cup and the portion came out to be adult size lol. As far as chocolates go we still think Laderach ftw.

Definitely one of the better gelato places in OC! I do like Bacio di Latte at the Irvine Spectrum more, but this place is right there! I like that you order first then you can try samples before choosing. This does help keep the line moving. Don't get discouraged seeing long lines, it's all the people trying samples (I'm guilty of this). All the flavors were super creamy and flavorful! Favorite was the pistachio! Would recommend trying all the flavors, they were all pretty good, it was tough to choose!

LOVE IT! The gelato is pricey but the quality and taste makes it so worth it. It was about $15 with tip for a Medium with 2 flavors (pistachio & a hazelnut) and a hazelnut rim on the cup It's my favorite place for pistachio

This place was delicious! We were looking for a treat after dinner and stopped in for gelato & gourmet chocolate. I got dark chocolate & chocolate cream bites that were AMAZING. My family got different kinds of gelato with chocolate chip bases and loved it! The atmosphere was so fun with the chocolate fountain and all the different chocolate bites to choose from. The staff was super kind and took their time with each customer rather than rushing us even with a longer line making it feel more experiential.

How exciting to have this here in OC but more specifically in south coast plaza. Located on the first floor on the corner next to the elevator and near the carousel. Gelato is so amazing. Brings me back to Italy. Pistachio is always a must but today when I tried baciodidama... also life changing lol. *always had a spread inside your cup or cone*

Okay, this is my new favorite chocolate shop at SCP! We stopped by on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't super busy. I was obsessed with the ambiance and interior. It was so beautiful! As for customer service, Vincent was sooo helpful and friendly! I'm super lactose intolerant and can't have any milk chocolate, and he was so helpful in showing me all of the vegan / plant based / non-dairy options! I ended up getting a few of his suggestions and they were all delicious. You can pick different chocolates and pay based on weight, which is nice. I didn't try the ice cream, because it seems like you have to commit to purchasing before sampling, which was interesting, but maybe next time. Can't wait to go back!

    Raspberry & 47%

While I'm not a gelato fan, I do enjoy great chocolate. Did I get that? Absolutely!! Their variety of solid and filled chocolates (including "white" chocolate) is amazing. I prefer the solid, so I picked out a variety of wrapped squares. Warning: it's $58.00 per pound ($3.63/oz, which works out to around $1.25 per square. The 100% cacao, 77% cacao, 47% cacao and the raspberry were my choices. There's a reason they put sugar in chocolate, as the 100% was super bitter, with the 77% a bit less so. The 47% was most pleasant to me, not as super sweet as a Hershey Kiss but nicely balanced. The raspberry was in a different category, but it was very, very good! This is not going to be the kind of chocolate you can eat every day, but for a special occasion or treat, it's great!

My favorite chocolates are made in Switzerland, Belgium, and Japan…read more So I was pleasantly surprised to find a Läderach Chocolate shop while walking around South Coast Plaza. They were handing out samples of their hazelnut chocolate bars, and after one bite, I knew I had to step inside to look around and try some more. Such luxuriously rich and smooth chocolate morsels that melt so exquisitely in your mouth (where you can taste and smell the layers of quality ingredients contained in each piece). Really took me back to my last trip to Switzerland when I overindulged in chocolates and fondue (and it was so very worth it). Pricing is by the pound if you get items a la carte. Truffles and pralines are $84 per lb (works out to be average of $3 per piece) and their chocolate bark bars (aka FrischSchoggi) are about $60 to $64 per lb. Otherwise there are prepackaged boxes at set prices ranging from about $20 to $150 and more. Today I sampled the hazelnut chocolate bar, pava praline square, a white chocolate espresso truffle, and a champagne truffle. I ultimately decided to purchase the pava praline set (comes with 8 pieces) and 5 pieces of the white chocolate expresso truffles. Total was just under $40. Truffles came in nicely designed, minimalistic boxes. They are located on the second floor of the Bloomingdale's wing of South Coast Plaza, above Sephora.
