A stall inside Mitsuwa store near the food court.

My friend and I went to this store two weeks ago. It is located inside Mitsuwa store. She bought the Nama Chocolate as that is her favorite. I tried one and it was indeed delicious and melts in your mouth and not too sweet. I will have to try other chocolates next time! Glad to see this is a chain and there are other locations through CA. Service was fine.

I cannot stop coming back to this chocolate shop lol. Every chocolate I have purchased and/or was given to me, have all tasted delicious! It is not too sweet, but a perfect balance of flavors in the items I have tried. I LOVE the Royce Bar Chocolate Nut. It is individually wrapped and tastes amazing. The item has Almond, Pecans, Cashews, Macadamia, Nutty Puffs and Praline in a small chocolate bar. It is soo good! Other delicious items I have tried are: - Royce Chocolate Block Bar - Chocolate Hazel Wafers - Milk Chocolate and Matcha Discs - Matcha Wafers - Baton Cookies Hazelnut Cacao The service is always amazing and kind. It is a definite must try chocolate shop. Thank you Royce Irvine!

Small chocolate and mochi shop located inside the Mitsuwa on Culver. Royce chocolates are really delicate, creamy, and delicious. Every once in awhile I'll pick up a gift box for special occasions. It shares a space with "J sweets", which sells mochi ice cream.

I was introduced to Royce's Nama Chocolate when my wife and I received it as a gift from Sushi Ota. We are so happy to find it available in Irvine with so many different flavors. We splurged and purchased the Maccha, Hojicha and VSOP Liquor Ghana Bitter. They were melt in your mouth pure delight. Everything was packaged beautifully and we will definitely be going back to purchase some more for Christmas gifts! Royce shares a space with J.Sweets that also so some great tasting mochi. The peach and blueberry yogurt flavors were yummy and the black sesame and matcha flavors were equally superb!

No joke, I always get gifted ROYCE chocolates - Christmas, Birthday, etc. these are easily the best chocolates I've ever had! They're so unique. If you like chocolate mousse, then you'll love these! These chocolates are like little chocolate mousse rectangles. They're soft yet a little firm like nearly frozen mousse. I've never had anything like these before. Also, the quality is superb. I hate Hersheys and American (even popular German chocolates) sweets because they're equivalent to eating sugar, but somehow worse. It's way too sweet and in a really bad way. These chocolates are very sweet, but in a different way because the ingredients used are much better. It's much more cocoa present and complex. Also, I am NOT lactose by any means, BUT you HAVE to keep these refrigerated or else you will die of stomach pain like I did! Totally my bad, but I want to save you from suffering. So yummy, can't wait to get some more! Lastly, the SAKURA ONE IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST. My mans & I really love it. It has a cherry flavor and is so so original. Buy all the flavors are amazing. Really good gift, it left a really special impression on me!

Located inside Mitsuwa market, ROYCE offers a wide variety of sweet confections and unique gift boxes. They're apparently best known for their Nama chocolates, but I've actually only tried their wafers and cookies. We liked the strawberry and matcha wafers the best, as they were both light and not too sweet. They also came individually wrapped for convenience and in a nice box for gifting. Overall, the treats are pretty good, but not sure they're worth the price point or as satisfying as similar shops.

Received this as a gift and its one of the cleanest and creamiest chocolate I have ever eaten. It has the perfect balance of sweetness. This is definitely going to be my go to place for chocolates and gifts for friends. I look forward to trying different chocolate from here.

If you're a chocolate lover like me, you'll need to try Royce'. They're only located in Mitsuwa. You may miss them depending on what entrance you use. If you're using the back entrance (closer to BP), they're the first stall you'll see on the right as you walk in. I'll be honest, I've gone to Mitsuwa hundreds of times and always passed by this place not knowing what they sold. I thought it was mochi at first. Finally discovered they sell premium chocolate from Japan that is pre-packaged. It can be an expensive addiction though as each box is roughly $20. It's the perfect splurge/treat and I usually get a box or two each time I'm at Mitsuwa now. Try it and you'll see why or taste why you're paying $20 for that one box. The chocolate is softer, more of a truffle/fudge consistency (not like bar chocolate although they do have those too). The boxes have squares of chocolate and you'll get a little tool to wedge each piece out. Saddest part is when you finish that last square! Hence why I get two boxes sometimes, so that disappointment doesn't last long (I just open up the other box). These do need to be refrigerated so keep that in mind if you're purchasing a box and are not heading home right away. They do place it into a packaging that will help to keep it temperature controlled until you do get home (but still don't leave these out in the car if it's hot out). My go to's here are the Nama Chocolate Au Lait and Nama Bitter. Some of these do contain some alcohol but you can also opt for the alcohol free one.

I'm not a chocolate person, but when my coworker gave me a piece of her Royce champagne flavor chocolate, I was hooked and I knew I had to get a box for myself. Their chocolate is sooo smooth and creamy and isn't tooo sweet where it will make you feel sick. They put the chocolate box in a cooling bag (I think it can keep it cool for 2 hours?) but you should put it in the fridge once you reach your destination. The closest location to me was this one, located inside Mitsuwa marketplace in Irvine. It's pretty pricey at $18 a box, but it's worth it.

    Fancy packaging :,)

I've patronized this place several times over the years and have been very happy with the chocolates they sell (Royce brand, from Japan). And the gaufres are a favorite. Aside from the Yelp "giveaway" on my latest visit, I also purchased some other boxes of chocolates and cookies as gifts for upcoming birthdays in my extended family. The women working here were amiable - full of smiles - and very helpful in assisting me in choosing the perfect boxes of treats. The quality of the chocolates is exceptionally high. If the box has the name Royce on it, you're going to be happy with what's inside. As with most Japanese products, the packaging is done with care and presentation is visually appealing. You'll find J Sweets at the rear entrance of Mitsuwa in Irvine.

Probably because everything is so pretty. It's like when we all grew up with the wonderfully scented and pretty bar soaps that you just never wanted to use. J. Sweets is like that for me. Look but no touching. Weird I know. Not anymore though! Now that I know just how tasty J. Sweets candies are, all I have to say is "GET IN MY BELLY!" J. Sweets is located inside of the Mitsuwa marketplace right at the back entrance into the food court. We arrived around 6:30 pm right before the dinner rush. Luckily there was still plenty of parking available. I was quickly but kindly approached by a lady at the counter. I wish I got her name. She was super sweet, patient and very knowledgeable of everything that they offered. She wasn't a pushy salesman at all. In fact, she made me feel very welcome. She showed me around their small space packed with all kinds of desserts. Although space was tight and limited, everything was neatly stacked so as to not look like a mess. I told her I wasn't sure what I wanted to buy but that I don't like very sweet anything. She had me try a piece of milk chocolate with caramel. The chocolate sample was amazing, smooth, decadent, sinfully rich without the use of excessive sugar. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. What we bought; 1) I purchased a dark chocolate bar without liqueur - after that tester she gave me, I couldn't resist and I don't regret spending the money on it either. Wow. This is one of those things you hide from the household in hopes that nobody finds it. LOL. Jk. Or am I? 2) mochi cream in strawberry shortcake and double mango. I loved them both. Again, you can really tell the quality in the ingredients used to make their products. Next time I go back, i will definitely buy some Hattendo cream buns, some of their other chocolates that have liqueur, and the mixed packs. J. Sweets was such a special trip for us and the customer service was wonderful. We cannot wait until we go back and stock up on treats again.
