Shout out to Brianna and Maya! My friend and I came to Venchi at South Coast Plaza on 02/16/26 near the mall's closing time, and they were so helpful and sweet! They didn't make us feel rushed at all, and they answered all of our questions kindly. I'm sorry this is so long overdue, but I am posting this now because they deserve to be recognized for working so hard and being so kind. Their customer service was amazing! read more

Beware when checking out, they will not show you the screen and give themselves an 18% tip. When I was here on May 16th My Bill came to $49 and after I got home, I seen that they gave themselves a nearly $9 tip. I was never even showed the screen to choose a tip for myself. I would consider this theft from me for not being able to choose and them applying it themselves as for the actual gelato mediocre at best. read more

They are so nice and helpful and the gelato and chocolate is amazing!!! Highly recommend it

While shopping, I noticed a new gelato and chocolate shop and decided to check it out after seeing a line wrapped almost all the way to the mall entrance. I waited about 20-30 minutes, which set high expectations, but unfortunately the experience didn't quite live up to the hype. Seating is very limited, and once inside, the ordering process felt rushed. Customers were quickly moved to the side while ordering, and the overall atmosphere felt a bit chaotic. The staff wasn't particularly welcoming, and even while sampling flavors, it felt like there was pressure to make a quick decision rather than enjoy the experience. I ended up choosing the vanilla and mango gelato. It was good, but nothing memorable and definitely not the best gelato I've had. Would I wait in that long line again? Probably not. There are better gelato spots out there with higher quality and a more enjoyable experience. This place is fine to try once out of curiosity, but in my opinion, there are better options worth your time. read more

Venchi - Vanilla & Mango Gelato - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

tried out the new gelato spot in south coast plaza and the store is such a cute, casual/lively sweet shop. they have a few tables to sit and eat your sweets, but it's a small store so expect it to get a little busy/crowded inside. they have a variety of different gelato and chocolates and i would say their gelato is more of their specialty than their chocolates. if you wanted chocolates, south coast has a läderach with much better chocolate. with that being said, we got to try a bunch of their flavors and most memorable were their different hazelnut gelatos, the matcha, and pistachio. their pistachio gelato has a much more prominent nutty flavor than some other gelato places i've tried, but not artificial at all! the matcha gelato was also very good, a little bitter/strong but it balances out with the sweetness as well. good texture gelato as well and they all come with their dark chocolate bunny! read more

Blatant overcharging -- unacceptable, especially on opening day. We bought a 20 pieces cube chocolate priced at $16.99 per 1/4 lb which was already quite expensive and were charged $50. The receipt showed 0.745 lb, but when we weighed it at home, the chocolates were only 8.8 oz (0.55 lb) -- and that includes none of the 1 oz box weight. We were overcharged by almost $14 for just half a pound. This is not a small mistake. What's worse: today is their FIRST DAY of business. Starting off by overcharging customers is a terrible look. We feel misled and will not be returning. Check your weight and your receipt very carefully. read more

Went on a Monday evening and there was only a few people in line ahead of me. The staff was friendly, the decor was cute and giving high end chocolate vibes. We tried the hazelnut gelato which was good! The mango gelato I would say was my favorite so far. They have a wide arrangement of flavors. I also like that they put a piece of dark chocolate on the gelato which was a nice surprise read more

Venchi chocolatier absolutely delivers a 5-star experience from start to finish. The variety of flavors & chocolates is extensive & incredible--each one more delicious than the last, showcasing depth & balance. Standouts for me: the Chocoviar Arancia (bright citrus meets rich chocolate perfection), Gianduia (smooth, nutty & indulgent), the Dark Hazel Ingot (luxuriously deep & satisfying), and the 77% Nibs Grandblend (bold, complex, delightful crunch). The gelato was especially refreshing -a perfect complement to the chocolates. Service here deserves recognition. Yun (Supervisor), went above & beyond, delivering warm, attentive & elevated hospitality that made the entire visit feel special. Her direct reports, Sama, Alicia & Madeline matched that same level of care & friendliness. The store itself was clean & full of energy. A bustling, vibrant spot that's clearly already a hit. Despite being busy, everything ran smoothly. Well done, Yun! This is easily one of the best new additions to the area. A flawless first impression. I'll absolutely be back (likely often). read more

Please train your supervisor to be nicer and polite. This was my first and last time going there despite the gelato being great and rich with flavor. There is a complete lack of care for the customer experience, we were treated as second class citizens as if we were undeserving to treat ourselves after a long week. This store feels misaligned with the South Coast Plaza experience, I come here to use my hard earned money to enjoy an upscale experience with my family that this Venchi employee has no concern for. This was my party's first time ordering and a simple and straightforward explanation would've sufficed compared to the hostility and unnecessary comments about our party size to other customers. I understand now that we choose and pay for one of the three sizes before picking flavors. But this is not a universal business model and would've appreciated a greeting and an introduction to their process in comparison to the shortness and informality we were met by. I hate leaving these reviews and I don't do this much, but if the service is bad I can't help but leave them to inform the owner and other customers what they are up for. Don't let an "upscale" store treat you like this and get a treat anywhere else. read more

Absolutely delicious gelato. Not cheap but you get what you pay for here. Nice atmosphere too

Was excited to try this place, and stopped by when I was out shopping with my daughter. I bought a 40 dollar bag of chocolates and asked to try the gelato as other people were trying flavors, to see if my daughter and I could share a cup. They say I had to commit to buying a cup of ice cream before they would let me taste it. Already spent 40 on chocolate and was just perplexed at this policy! Disappointed at the bad customer service. read more

There was a long line when we first saw this store... but we were in a hurry... so, we couldn't try it. This time, we're not in a rush so we finally got to try their gelato. Of course, I had to try their tiramisu venchi and we also got the cremino and we love it. You should check out this gelato and chocolate shop next time you are at South Coast Plaza. I highly recommend it. read more

Great gelato and delicious pralines. Will come back many times. Busy but worthy the wait. read more

i'm soooo excited that venchi finally came to oc. i was disappointed because a LOT of the flavors were out when i came. nonetheless my gelato was delicious. i do think they need a better "line" system the people waiting outside are literally watching you eat your ice cream from the window because the seats face the windows lol also, it's new and the tables/chairs are already kinda messed up. if they could do better at wiping down tables/chairs to keep it inviting. can't wait to come back!! read more

worst gelato ever... highly overpriced for the size that I'm forced to pay for outside the front door. the menu is impossible to read from outside the shop, and you want me to pay before?! Forced into a double only to discover I only like one flavor of the 12-16 flavors offered & my frustration level increased to I hate this place. During an unexpected second visit I showed a friend just to confirm my strong dislike and he confirmed the whole situation was terrible. there's better ice cream on the other side of Sunflower with friendly customer service. The cuing and horrendous customer service will be the death of this place. read more

Long line for mediocre ice cream and very expensive mediocre chocolate. Not worth the wait or price

So we're waiting for a very long line to get the gelato. And their very nice employee in the line said that they were safe for allergies and that they would be able to scoop it from the back to prevent cross contamination with nuts. But after all that time we got there and was told that it was made in the same machines and not safe. Poor training and not safe. read more

Venchi - A scooping of raspberry heaven - Chocolatiers & Shops Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

I went to South Coast yesterday with my family, and my mom briefly looked through the window of a new spot that seemed popular. The doorman immediately told her she needed to leave unless she planned on buying something. This came across as extremely rude, especially for a new location trying to attract customers. That interaction left a very bad impression on all of us. No one should be treated with that level of disrespect, particularly when she wasn't bothering anyone or in anyone's way. I understand that they may have been busy, but that doesn't justify the way she was spoken to. Based on this experience alone, I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

This place is a bit pricy but it's SO worth it! I came to try out their gelato on a busy Saturday night and the line wasn't too bad (it was only 10 mins which is short considering how crowded it was). The cashier was super helpful and patient as she explained to me all of the flavors and as well as giving me some samples! The gelato shop had about 5 small tables with some seats but it was too crowded inside so I just sat on one of the mall benches after getting my gelato! First of all, I got a matcha and tiramisu regular size and a baciodidama and stracciatella regular size. The matcha paired very well with the tiramisu as the deep-bitterness of the matcha paired well with the creamy tiramisu with thin chocolate flakes inside. The crunch of the chocolate made the gelato so satisfying (also the matcha is pretty high quality as it was a deep green with a very prominent flavor). Next up was the baciodidama (it had hazelnut and some crunchy biscuit which it tasted very similar to Ferrero Rocher chocolates) and stracciatella (similar to vanilla chocolate chip which is basic but it was so silky and addicting) the two were pretty good together but I strongly recommend pairing the matcha and tiramisu! I definitely will come back again to try their other flavors (I initially forgot to take images because I couldn't wait to try the gelato...). read more

Been a fan of Venchi for many years but wanted to write a review about my recent in store experience. Gelato is very popular and there's often a line out the door for this fan favorite. I went there to pick up some chocolates and was greeted by Vincent who was incredibly helpful and friendly. He explained to me the different types of chocolates and also helped me picked out a variety of flavors with nuts. The store is very clean and I saw Vincent cleaning the display glass while I was waiting in line to enter the store. Super friendly staff and great ambiance.
