Hosted a birthday soiree for my husband over the weekend.. soiree (read: drinks & apps) was looking to keep things light, at a fun and (still) trending lounge. Service was magnificent from planning tonexecution. Sent an inquiry directly from website, which I am always leary - does anyone actually monitor this? Will I have to remember the details shared and resubmit via traditional email if I don't hear back? Will I remember whom I submit inquiries to? No swear with Vaso, pretty sure I received a response in less than12 hours and it was exceptionally convenient most of the communication occurred during business hours so responses were almost real time. Katie was helpful, accommodating and thoughtful in her recommendations / suggestions. I never felt like she was reminding me that this was such a swanky establish that I should be grateful space was available and that I should rush into a decision. Instead she was patient, practical and effectively communicated our options from.pricing down to logistics. For that I was most grateful. Arriving on Saturday Audrey greeted us fairly quickly and helped us select apps for our guests (based on popularity and portion size) excellent feedback from our guests on the service and quality of the food. All hail calamari! Everyone remarked how delicious it was. The view - is cool but I was more impressed by the tasteful & efficient use of the space - such that the indoor / dining room never felt super crowded or overly sparse. The windy booths by the window at the elevator entrance & the span of the bar nicely created "zones" and the rooftop area was much deeper than it appeared at first glance. The only insight / feedback I would offer is the elevator entrance /reservation logistics before a certain hour. Other restaurants that I've patronized that had a specific elevator for rooftop access offered a delineation between reservations & walk in - to help.manage occupancy (I presume), this seemed like a free for all in the wrong direction. If I didn't announce I had a reservation I may have been subject to blindly standing in a ridiculous line and risking meeting my guests in the lobby vs the actual dedicated space for our event. By no means was this a feel breaker. Just required a bit of hand holding and last.minite text communication with our guests. If you haven't stopped by, Do yourself a favor... Vaso is a rooftop lounge on top of the AC Hotel in Columbus Dublin. We had a short stay here in June and we were recommended to come here for after dinner drinks. We ended up kind of forgetting about it and went around 10:30 on a Monday. It wasnt very crowded. The rooftop itself is beautiful and I would imagine you could watch a pretty awesome sunset over downtown Dublin. Vaso offered Spanish style tapas. I wasn't even hungry coming here till I saw the menu! My husband and I are big tapas fans. We shared the Hummus Verde it was perfect for my small appetite. However, the menu has a lot to offer. The cocktail menu is pretty extensive ranging from $10-25. Didn't feel fancy enough so we ended up just ordering two bourbons. The bartenders looked SUPER young. Or maybe I'm just getting too old! Vaso is one of my favorite spots to go when I feel like I need a change of scenery or am wanting to elevate my night out. Vaso is an awesome rooftop bar and restaurant with a really nice outdoor rooftop patio that has a beautiful view of the Scioto River, the pedestrian bridge, and historic Dublin. It's inside is also very nice and elegant with bar seating, high top tables, lounge seating, etc. From a food standpoint Vaso serves tapas so it's a great place to go if you're wanting to share food with your party and try a little bit of everything of the menu. They're food is delicious, but just know that mostly everything is served in small portions. I can go there and get something new and enjoy it every time. One of my favorites is the Spanish grilled cheese that has truffle mayo and spiced honey on it - so. fricken. good. they also have great signature cocktails and a full bar. They're known for their gin & tonic which is so good. If you're a gin fan I would highly recommend it. A couple things to note about Vaso - it is a high end restaurant so it can be pretty pricey. However, they have a good happy hour so you can save some money there! They also tend to stay pretty busy so if you're planning to go on the weekend or have a larger party I would highly recommend making a reservation weeks in advance. If you're going on a weeknight you should be OK. Parking shouldn't be an issue as there is parking garages nearby. Remember you must enter through the dedicated elevator on the NW side of the building, near Hen's Quarters side of building (there is also an entrance to the AC Hotel there. We had no reservations so our only option was standing room only near the bar. Staff is a little stuffy and focused on 'reserved' tables. No problem as we just wanted a quick drink and we were in and out in 40 mins. I wouldn't call it casual dress as everyone was dressed for style !! Started inside and quickly received service - Thanks Anthony!! Plenty of options inside - bar seats, high tops, couches, low tops, etc.. But if you stop here, you have to visit the outdoor roof top bar. You can see for miles north - west - south (it was amazing). Very unique for this area of Columbus. They have good top shelf selection, drafts, and wine options. make sure if you are on any budget, you watch what you order (e.g. we had $6 draft, and a top shelf bourbon was $10 on the rocks, while another was $36- we thought more of his own stupidity). We did not eat here, so not sure about their food or dinner prices. Bottom line - you should definitely try it for a late night or kickoff drink, see the view, experience the rooftop bar with lively dj like music. You really can't lose here in regards to your view. If you are fortunate enough to have good weather and be seated outside you will be blessed with the beauty the bridge that leads to old Dublin. However, should you opt for sitting in doors you will marvel at the beautiful modern decor. We went for our anniversary and were treated like king and queen from start to finish. While the cocktails were quite good, it was the food that stole the show for us. As beautiful as it was delicious. We tried many things including my first foyer with octopus. The good: the view is outstanding. The waitstaff seems to know what they are doing. Really enjoyed the drinks as well. Very interesting. As for the food. Not sure why they call this a tapas place as everything you get was a meal. We had the charcuterie plate. There was a lack of cheese and an over abundance of cheap ham. The bread was a little crisp for my taste. Then we got the patatas bravas, the potatoes were good, but once again too big, we followed that with the least desirable item we ordered. We both really like empanadas, but these left much to be desired. The chorizo was just not good, no flavor, no texture, and the bread outside was flavorless and too thick. When you click the four star rating on Yelp, it says "Yay! I'm a fan." And yes, I'm a fan. It's a bar. It's loud. The crowd gets younger as it gets later making my middle-aged self feel less cool but I went there for the food and I was not disappointed. I went with my wife and another couple and we thought: "what the heck, why not try a boatload of stuff?" Easy to justify it when they are all "small" plates. And so we did. Here's the skinny on what we got: 1. ENSALADA DE BROTES DE BRUSELAS - or brussels sprouts and caesar salad made with brussels sprouts. This was one of my favorite dishes. Loved the caesar. Not super doused with dressing and crisp leaves. And the sauteed sprouts had that slightly burnt great crisp around the outer leaf of each sprout. You need to order it. Even if you don't like brussels sprouts. This will make you like them. And if this doesn't work then . . . well, I'm sorry you spent $11 for something you didn't like. Why would you listen to a complete stranger anyways? 2. TABLA DE CHARCUTERIA - or charcuterie board. Good sized charcuterie board with an assortment of cured meats and Spanish cheeses served with crostini and pickles. To be quite honest, I've never ever met a charcuterie board that I didn't like or attack with fervor. This is no exception. Ample amount and selection of meats and cheeses. I wish I knew what each was exactly. The menu said it was a selection of Spanish meats but it tasted Italian to me. Okay, now I'm just being ignorant but my taste buds don't lie. Great dish to share and pick at all throughout dinner. 3. CALAMAR FRITO - breaded and fried calamari. Not exactly a unique selection as many restaurants do this. But Vaso does it well. Fresh cut up squidies and banana peppers flash fried in a light batter and served with Thai red chili sauce (the stuff you can buy from an Asian market). Flavor profile was not unique here but it was a good dish and I'd order again. 4. GAMBAS AL AJILLO - tiger shrimp sauteed in Pimenton oil and served with some grilled bread. Excellent flavor. Good sized (but not huge) prawns. Enjoyed this but you really don't get a lot. I'd probably choose something else next time. 5. RES Y CHAMPIÑONES ROSTISADOS - flat iron steak with sauteed mushrooms and crispy fried onion straws. One word: fantastic. Steak was tender and super flavorful. Fried onion straws a very nice compliment. A must-order unless you're vegetarian or vegan. 6. FILETE IBÉRICO CON FRIJOLES - roasted Iberico pork loin with artichokes and lima beans. I didn't know what Iberico pork was before having this. Tasty. Porky. Tender. So not exactly A5 Wagyu in terms of exoticness (or price) but it's a specialty cut and breed of swine that is executed very well here. 7. REMOLACHAS ROSTISADAS - beet salad with goat cheese and walnuts. Includes both red and yellow beets. It's beet salad, yo. And I do like beets. I've had this combination at other restaurants before and it's done well here. Nothing out of this world but among the better versions I've had. 8. SALCHICHA DE LANGOSTA - lobster truffled sausage. This was just okay for me. I love lobster and I love sausage so I thought that this would be a match made in heaven. Not really. It's not that it tasted bad but think of a bratwurst with a slight hint of lobster taste and there you have it. It just didn't speak to me. But since I dropped some good scratch on it, I ate it all (with help of course). I'm rarely impressed with hotel restaurants but this place is good and worth a repeat visit. As I mentioned earlier though, the place gets hopping as the night wears on and it's pretty loud so if you want a place to chill and have a nice conversation, this place isn't ideal unless you want to yell at each other. read more

Really unique venue! We were a party of seven. Good service, good food - except for the paella. We started with the miso eggs, the grilled cheese, the crab cakes, the bruschetta and the calamari; all were excellent. The sweet/spicy dipping sauce is a nice touch. Then we tried the flatbread, the ropa vieja and the paella. Again, the flatbread and ropa vieja were excellent, although I prefer a more pronounced sofrito with the ropa vieja. The paella came out much too fast to have been made to order, which is the only way to have good paella. I come at this from having lived in Spain for 11 years, by the way. It was stone cold, the rice was mushy, and there was no socarrat! We sent it back. Look forward to another visit, but without the paella. PS They took the paella off the bill. read more

This place is beautiful inside and out. We rented an igloo on Sunday night and while it was cold it was still lots of fun. The food was good not spectacular but good. We ordered just about everything on the menu and nothing was awful. My least favorite was the tuna tostadas and Thai chicken meatballs. The tuna itself was okay but it came on a wrap or rice paper that couldn't hold up to the wetness in the tuna dish so it got soggy fairly fast. The meatballs just had too strong of a flavor for my liking. Our favorite items were probably the lamb kebabs ( my kids asked for a second order of this) and the Brazilian cheese bread bites. All in all it was a great experience, the servers are attentive and I would definitely recommend going here. Though I'd suggest going with a large group if you plan on renting the igloo, there is a minimum spending fee and it would definitely be more fun with more people! read more

Read the sign inside the women's restroom. Stellar!! We had wonderful and beauty cocktails to start the evening off. Very tasty, especially the very one. It was very unique. A bit savory, which I liked. My friend loved her birds of paradise drink, thought it was refreshing To address the smallness of the high tops, of course, with tapas you order slowly line dish at a time. It's very European. The asparagus dish was delicious. The sauce was smooth to the tastebuds and did not over power the vegetables. The dried tomatoes and fruit was hydrated to perfection through the sauce. I'm a lamb fan and the meatballs were no exception. They were perfect and I bit surprised with the hot spiciness. I've never had that pop as a taste with lamb. Great mixture of tastes. Serve was great but we went at 6 before the rush. The only complaint was anytime I walk in with my friend who is decades under, the staff profiles us as family and assume when check comes that it's handed to me and also assume that I can't reach high tops. It's becoming so routine that we chuckle over it. Really, age profiling should be addressed at your place and others. I didn't taste it a 4 because so many new and hip places do it. It's not good. I came to VASO once before on a Saturday and it was packed and I didn't love it because service was not amazing (but again, it was packed), but decided to give it another chance and came to dinner with friends on Monday and loved it. First off, the mezcal mango drink was amazing! We ordered calamari that had banana peppers rings with it, and it was delicious (loved the sauce), jackfruit tacos with a cashew cream that blew me away, and seafood paella that was the best I've ever had. Spectacular view, great service and yummy food is a great way to spend a Monday evening, I'll definitely be back for another dinner. read more

Oh boy, where to begin. If you like martinis this is not the place for you. Although they boast a creative drink menu, they put martinis n Champaign glasses (maybe they were on sale). If you know martinis, then you know this is a big no-no. The staff was more interested in their phones and their co-workers than their customers, and when being seated, they don't wait for you to see where to go, they just take off without you...no looking back. In fact, none of the staff was very well trained. Our server leaned into my husband and asked "what's up?" The calamari tapas is delicious but that's about it. We ordered the scallops. We were told by our waiter there were six large scallops (reality: 5 small) and the polenta was cold...I mean cold. Well, at least the ice cubes are cool. It is big, has Igloos in the fall/winter, has a party room, lounge seating & an outdoor patio area with the best vibes around. There are so many different people to hangout with. There is street parking & a free parking garage right next door, I always like taking the elevator ride up to the top floor. The servers are always so incredibly kind, keep up the good work!! &&&, let me tell you, BEST DRINKS IN TOWN!! Worth your bucks, as I know it can be pricey, but you are paying for bartenders & mixologists that actually study their drinks and make the best ones!! We stopped in last week to book an igloo for tonight. We watched her write down our reservation, but when we came in tonight they told us they had booked us for an indoor table, not an igloo, and no igloos were available. We spoke with the manager and she was very apologetic and offered us a free round of drinks tonight and if we rebooked the igloo they would waive the minimum. Mistakes happen, we totally understand, so we decided to stay. We had an 8 top table and we all ordered drinks and food. The drinks took a long time to come, over 15 minutes, but the food was reasonable. Our waitress forgot to get someone's order, she completely skipped over him, and she forgot to bring my drink and the dessert menu I asked for. She was incredibly slow to ask for refills and eventually we just got the check. She didn't take off the drinks as previously promised so we spoke with the manager and she had it corrected. Another inconvenience is that they put everything on one check and leave it to the table to sort out, they won't run multiple cards. We understand the error over the igloo, but the terrible service was enough to make us not want to rebook for another try. Definitely think they need to work on their reservation system though, when we stopped in last week it was just written on a piece of paper and this week they used a google doc.... would be nice if they had an app. Also would be nice if they sent confirmation emails or texts, we would have been able to fix the error!! I never would've imagined myself driving out out of a city to the suburbs to visit a hotel bar, but that's exactly what happened when Vaso opened up earlier this year. It's worth a visit if you're curious about the view of Old Dublin and the Scioto River from a dozen stories up... but I can't say that I was wow'ed by Vaso since the price of the food and drink matches it's setting perfectly in my opinion, a ritzy rooftop bar and kitchen in a hotel in the suburbs. To be fair, if I were an AC Marriott guest, I would delighted to spend a relaxing (work) evening at Vaso. Drinks are strong, beautifully presented, and the tapas plating is beautiful. However, I personally wouldn't go out of my way for this view and, without any happy hour deals or brunch menu's here, there isn't much incentive for me to be back on my own dime. read more

Went to vaso for the first time. The whole plaza is impressive for the dublin area along with ample free parking. I had the Bulgarian rose cocktail. Served with Hendricks gin, asperol, rose water, and fever tree elderflower tonic. Everything was served tapas style (small plates). We got shrimp ceviche, beef empanadas, calamari topped with popcorn, and roasted pea/almond snack. They brought everything out one at a time. My favorite was the crisp calamari served with a sweet chili sauce. Our server told us we could check out the igloos outside and when we did the igloo security lady told us we couldn't. The Igloos are heated and come with cozy blankets. I noticed that there was not a lot of table space for dining in the igloos. read more

I have been to Vaso twice, and I enjoyed my experience the second time a lot more than the first. The view is incredible, but the patio is first come, first served. The indoors area has just as good of a view, but if you're sitting at a high top, the chairs are a bit tiny. I think the food is good, depending on what you order. The first time I went, I ordered the Brussels sprouts salad and the grilled cheese sandwich (both were good, but not great). This time, I got the white bean and garlic dip, churros con chocolate and the ham and cheese sandwich. Everyone loved all the food in our second visit! The shining star (other than the view) for Vaso is their cocktails, but both times I've felt they were a little weak in the alcohol. But the flavors are on point. read more

We gave it another shot, and now I'm even more underwhelmed. We sat at a high-top by the windows - big mistake. The seats are stylish but uncomfortable - maybe deliberately uncomfortable so you'll either eat their expensive food quickly and leave, or order more drinks do you don't feel your aching butt. The restaurant was less busy this time, so service was more attentive. The food... oh... what do I say about food...? Meh - the food was OK. It looks nice, but doesn't taste like anything special. In a word - underwhelming. In two words - underwhelming and disappointing. In three words - underwhelming, disappointing and overpriced. But my dear Mom says "you can always say something nice" - so here goes... the view is nice. But I doubt we will return, and from all the other mediocre reviews being posted, my prediction is that this restaurant will only be hot for a few more months, and soon you won't even need a reservation. We made reservations for 8 (tentative 10) for July 2 to celebrate an informal get together with friends after what started out as one wedding which quickly turned into two that day. Quite the celebration. Our initial reservation was made weeks in advance. When we learned of the second wedding we called and spoke to a kind gentleman who was happy to adjust our reservation from 5 to 530 pm on July 2. No issues. That day at roughly 1130 am I get a call from someone saying they were sorry they had to cancel our reservation due to "unforeseen circumstances" which means nothing to me. I shared I was disappointed and was curious to hear about it now six hours before our parties. She simply REPEATED HERSELF and stuck to that stock statement which is unprofessional. Context of any kind would be helpful especially six hours before this event as I'm racing to think about where to move our party. Very disappointing very discouraging and honestly, when a service provider sticks to a stock, non-specific, generic reason something is up. Illness, short staffed, had to close down for whatever the reason is that night who knows never shared after asking twice. She did offer to reschedule our party - no thank you. When I called Eddie Merlot's and I asked how much time did they need to book a party of 10 celebrating two weddings that day the gentleman said, "It would depend on what day and time." When I shared with him exactly what took place from VASO minutes earlier, he said, "Of course we can accommodate you. I'll see you and your party at 530 pm" and that was with NO questions asked. He and Eddie Merlot's just delivered and delivered flawlessly. Thanks but no thanks VASO. We did try this establishment before in January and we were excited to return. Vaso has always been a really cool experience. You enter in the lobby and take an elevator up to the top of the building and then either choose to sit inside an area surrounded by glass or go outside on an open balcony. Either choice you make promises a great view! In covid times they only allow 1 group at a time into the lobby. Before you are escorted up in the elevator you will have to be scanned by a device in the lobby that looks like an iPad, but somehow takes your temperature. I went mid week around 6pm and there were very few people sitting inside. The patio filled up a bit more, but I felt everyone was a good distance apart. Like many restaurants they replaced their menu with a QRcode for customers to scan so everyone isn't touching the same menu. The service was good and so were the drinks. I recommending being on the balcony during sunset for an amazing few. I would say the only downside of Vaso is the drinks seem overly expensive. I guess you have to pay for the experience! read more

The menu is divided into different kinds of small plates (veggie, seafood, starters, etc). We liked the hummus and the sweet potato tacos, but did not really like the brazilian cheese balls or the chicken meatballs. Dessert was a mexican spiced chocolate mousse which was yummy. The new menu May 2024 is pretty good but there are still some improvements that would make it really great.

Vaso looks very nice on their page with beautiful views, etc.. but reality is not so great!! There were only one outdoor fire pits, waitress was not so friendly (rush! Rush! Rush!) as if you're there to take her time away from relaxation. Overall, it is a very nice place to just hang and good drinks but definitely not for dinner so don't go hungry!!! A contemporary and popular restaurant at the top of the AC Marriott, Bridge Park Dublin. This was my second visit and the food had improved immensely. Table for 4 overlooking the awesome view of downtown Dublin. Not much light on the table. The menu consists of small plate tapas. We ordered a lot! Gambas al ajillo (shrimp with garlic) were excellent and the pesacdo envuelto (blackened fish taco) outstanding. The garlic aioli and patatas bravas were a huge hit, crispy on the outside but still floury potato in the middle yummy! The charcuterie was my least favorite too much bread not enough cheese and why turkey! Should have been more salami, salsiccia, capocollo or any other Italain meat. Great atmosphere, but very loud. If you are contemplating coming here for a sophisticated rooftop fine dining experience, put that thought on pause. What you will find is a mob of folks, more so during happy hour, getting their groove on. All kinds of folks, groups of them, more females, dressed in everything from yoga pants to little bitty dresses. Not exaggerating one bit. Not sure why they hired one of columbus best jazz guys, Dave Powers, to play when no one can hear him, or for that matter even paying attention. More interested in their own good time and drinks. (Speaking of drinks, I got the "bigger" size serving of Cabernet for $17 a glass.) We did have reservations, highly recommend if you want table. Tables inside and out on rooftop. They have "security" stationed at rooftop entrance. Not sure why. He definitely doesn't hold open the doors as you would expect a gentlemen would do. Ohh...and the view of the Scioto River and old Dublin...... not all that scenic. But you are outside and eight floors up. Hope they have umbrellas during the summer. The first really good impression comes from the food. The flank steak is a winner. Cooked perfectly medium rare. Brussels sprout Cesar salad is a winner too. Dressing may be heavy for some. Mmm...lobster deviled eggs. The "lobster" is roe sprinklings on the top. Confused.Take it or leave it. But that chocolate toffee vanilla ice cream dessert....TAKE IT. Crunchy top, moist bottom and vanilla bean ice cream. Slurp. Not to be shared. Definitely a winner. Not disappointed they had run out of the almond cake that I originally ordered.Take a pass on the salty octopus dish. All dishes are tapas (small) portions. Just so you know, service is weird if you are use to same person waiting on you. Here it seems that they take the team approach. You may have multiple servers. If you decide to come, it located in the new Bridge Park development. Lots of restaurants (including Pins & Mechanical & Local Cantina) apartments and parking. There is free garage parking nearby. Vaso has its own entrance on the side of the Marriott. read more
