This was our first visit to Vaso Rooftop Lounge, and we were celebrating our 30-year anniversary. We were warmly greeted by the host right at our 4:00 pm reservation time and seated with an outstanding view overlooking Dublin, Ohio. Shortly after being seated, we were greeted by Derek, and the experience immediately elevated several notches. What followed turned out to be one of the most memorable service experiences we've had in a long time. Derek was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and made several excellent drink and meal recommendations. He was enthusiastic, engaging, and had a great sense of humor, which made the evening even more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning and hope to have the opportunity to request Derek again. Had a reservation for 2 at 7:15pm. Got seated on the side, facing the top of the surrounding buildings. I requested to be seated in the middle section & was told the tables needed to be cleared off first. Took 10+ minutes and someone else got seated there before us. Anyways, Arnold Palmer was very bitter. Whatever you have in mind for deviled eggs is not what you will need tasting when you try these. It had an odd smell and tasted under seasoned. Would not order again. The wontons I give a 3/5. Not my favorite. The mushrooms weren't over powering but still interesting. This could have also used more seasoning. Outer layer was crispy. If you don't like sauces, ask for your sauce on the side because they pour it on your wontons for you. The empanadas seasoned well. Stuffed well too. Would order again. Then we ordered the flank steak medium. We received well done and it took more than 15+ minutes for the waitress to come to our table to check on us in order for us to send it back to get medium. Other than that, plantains were cooked well, the rice and beans were good. Presentation was beautiful. The restaurant was not busy at all. There were many empty tables and seats at the bar. I had been to Vaso when they first opened. Yesterday we went for their HH. It was a beautiful day and the place was packed. Their drink options on HH are limited, but the food options were great! We kinda got a little bit of everything. Everything was pretty good but we all agreed we'd skip the wontons next time. Maybe we got a bad batch, but they were really crispy and the pork was super dry. For the price, their HH food is a great deal. Our service was not the best. We kept having to ask for silverware, an extra plate, or flagging her down just to order. Maybe they were busier than normal? I'm not sure but it just seemed a little chaotic. read more

Experienced this with my hubby for our anniversary. Got the Truffle Smashed Potates which were perfectly crispy and flavorful. Pork Wontons off of a recommendation. I'm not a fan of mushrooms and each one had a healthy slice of a dark mushroom. I was able to pull them out but even without not my fav of the night. Beef empamadas with a beautiful flakey crust with the beef could use a bit of seasoning. The absolute highlight of the night, the star, was the black bean hummus. The tahine, on the chips with the topping on the hummus, was absolutely outstanding. We are not huge hummus people but the hummus had such a delight, so flavorful, so bright. We were in town for a wedding, staying at the hotel. We stopped in for lunch with a group of 8. We tried charcuterie board, crispy calamari (x2), olives, deviled eggs (x2), and some cocktails. The service was great and so were the cocktails, but there is no comfortable seating (all high tops with bad chairs) and some of the lighting is also bad. For the event we also could barely hear the dj, we could only hear bass. There isn't a coat check either, which is fine, but leaves me to wonder if management knows people just head across the street to Roosevelt room. That is what we did, and met a lot of people who did the same. Vaso has a wonderful staff and made these super cool menus for NYE. I was visiting with friends for happy hour. We ordered a little bit of everything from the appetizers and also got the pitcher to share. Our favorite was Brussel sprouts and potatoes. The pitcher was also plenty for the 6 of us but not strong enough. Our service was great, we sat inside. Tiger shrimp was bland no site or flavor of garlic as the menu promised and even the pepperchinis were bland.! It was Memorial Day when we popped in here and it was fairly busy. The wind had picked up so we weren't able to sit outside though we were told we could order drinks at the bar and take them outside on our own. The hostess did not recommend having food outside so we asked for a table near the window and closer to the door exiting onto the patio allowing us to meander out there. Their cocktail menu is presented in a magazine which was cool but overwhelming to read at the same time because there were so many pages of options and pictures to sift through. The food menu offered gluten free as well as vegetarian which made everyone happy. We had dinner plans so we only ordered the Bar Snacks, Bruschetta, and Izakaya Vegetables. The Bar Snacks consisted of Fried Peas, Corn, and Almond Nuts. They tasted ok while the Bruschetta was really sweet. The Izakaya Vegetables were misadvertised when it said there were tempura vegetables. There was nothing tempura, battered, or fried about the vegetables. We came mostly for the view and drinks so it's ok that the snacks weren't great. The guys had mocktails which they both liked. They tried them all between the two of them. I had a Japanese Vodka High Back with Cucumber and the Pisco Fever. Both were good. And the view out in the patio was cool. Sitting inside along the window was nice as well. Service was not good though. We would've had more drinks but she was slow to come by. We decided to check out the view after we ordered another drink by flagging someone else down. It turns out our server was outside putting the furniture away because of the wind. When we went back inside, most of our table had been cleared which was a bummer. It's usually not too crowded during the week and if the weather is nice, the outdoor patio is outstanding I've only gone to Vaso for drinks, they have robust cocktail menu. You know it's going to be an experience when you have to take an elevator to get to a restaurant! The doors open right to a host, and while it felt a bit like an elevator traffic jam when we left (people getting on, off, checking in), we made it through unscathed. The first thing I noticed was a very strong fishy smell in the air. If I had been alone, I probably would've turned right back around and hit the "down" button. But we were with friends, so we stuck it out--because friends don't let friends dine alone, even in questionable air. We put our names in for an outdoor table and headed to the bar. Thankfully, it wasn't too crowded, and we snagged a few seats for some much-needed cocktails. The margaritas were solid, made with Don Julio Blanca. Surprisingly, they had a slight smoky flavor, which I'm usually not a fan of, but it was subtle enough to actually be pleasant. Who knew? Soon, we were whisked outside to a table with a fire pit, and let me tell you--the view was stunning. Ohio fall came through for us that day, and we made the most of it with a second round of cocktails and some snacks from the menu. According to the menu, we were eating Spanish marcona almonds, crispy peas, and crispy corn, though we may have been too distracted by the gorgeous scenery to notice. The outdoor vibe was on point. The firelight and soft ambient lighting made for a cozy, romantic setting, with great music keeping the mood light and fun. We also tried the Tenderloin Empanada, which flirted with being too salty, but didn't quite cross the line. If you have a relative like my aunt who thinks seasoning is a crime, they might disagree. But for us? Delicious. All in all, we'll definitely be back next summer! The indoor view is nice, but that outdoor experience? Worth every penny. read more

I attended the New Year's Eve event at VASO last year. I had a great experience the year before, so I was looking forward to it again. This time, we booked a private room in the back. While the overall service and experience were decent, there was a significant issue: the TV didn't work. Everyone wanted to watch the college football playoffs and were told the tv doesn't work in the private room. Not only that but we couldn't even stream it off our phones onto the TV. We all played a lot of money to be there, the TVs at the bar work just fine but somehow no one thought we would want to watch football in our room.
