I went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and would definitely return. The food is pretty good, the vibe is very homestyle and the rotating menu are definite pluses. A few misses though: first, would love if this place had an online reservation system. I called to make a reservation, was put on hold for 8 minutes, was able to inquire about my table and then informed the time I wanted wasnt available. They offered some other times, I had to talk to my dining partner and had to call back. Took about an hour to reserve when it would take a few moments online. While most of the food was excellent the pizza crust was surprisingly 'meh'. The toppings were good put when delivered on a pizza crust that looked like and tasted like cardboard it just wasn't something I'd ever order again. The real star of the menu was the bolognese pasta. The tiramisu was also great. The caprese salad was ok. The cheese was incredible- buttery and fresh but it was too soon for the tomatoes- not quite ripe enough but soon I bet it would be an incredible salad to order.

Shrimp and chorizo pinxto (this is two orders)

We had a great time at Lupo. My husband and I went for our anniversary on Saturday. The cocktails were great and the meal didn't disappoint. We got the shrimp and chorizo pintxos, burrata, wedge salad and the paella. I loved the shrimp and chorizo, I felt it was very flavorful and was surprised by the size of the chorizo. The burrata was so so for me. I typically love burrata but the tomato was not enough to cut the richness of the avocado, burrata and oil. I wish it has pickled onions or Radish. Maybe even if they tomato was marinated and there was more of it it would be better. The wedge was very good I loved the spicy peppers. The paella was amazing. I don't love Lima beans so I just didn't eat them but overall would order again. I loved the texture of the rice and the large pieces of meat. It was very good I would return

We had a great first time at Lupo! Our apps were great and ambiance was amazing outside. Next time we'll try different entrees but we loved the service and overall vibe!

Lupo is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Columbus. The cocktails are interesting and delicious and the food is amazing. I have eaten there 3 times and ordered 3 different entrees and each was exceptional. Upscale but not expensive. This place rocks!!!!

Delicious food, wonderful service, and tonight it's not busy at all... Lupo is fantastic tapas.

WE'RE RAVING FANS OF LUPO. Todd Elder, Lupo's chef, is brilliant. His creativity, innovation and instinctive flavor combinations are a gift - either a chef is born with it or they're not - you can't teach this. The best part - I sincerely don't think he knows how good he really is. He is - in my opinion - among the very best chefs in Columbus. That's high praise, and I mean every word. Mary in front and Patrick at the bar are also awesome. We've never had anything short of an amazing meal at Lupo.

We went here pre-pandemic and had a terrible experience. But I'm glad we gave it a second chance. The service and food were excellent. We sat outside and it was lovely. Had their version of an old fashioned and Aperol spritz and both were delicious. I love the tapas style dishes which are great for sharing. The shrimp was spicy so beware if you don't like a little kick.

Lupo is located in a cute little strip of shops in Upper Arlington. It has a nice patio outside and a midsized dining room inside. My friends and I visited on a beautiful Tuesday evening so we were slightly saddened to learn the happy hour was not available on the patio. To take advantage of the happy hour inside I ordered a New Carre. It was pretty good. At this point you might wonder why I gave Lupo 5 stars. Well I went on the right day. Every Tuesday they have a 4 course rotating tasting menu. On the Tuesday I visited they offered course 1. Piquillos Rellenos, 2. Frito Misto, 3 Gambas Al Ajillo and Chicken Bocadillo (I'll include a screenshot with more details.) Every course was delicious! All the ingredients tasted fresh and worked fantastic together. By the 4th course I was stuffed but I couldn't top eating. I'll definitely return as many Tuesdays as I can!

Is it possible that my favorite restaurant in Columbus got even better? Lupo delivers in all respects -- food and service are spectacular and the ambience is pretty good as well. We hadn't been back since the pandemic :( and we were fortunate that it was a lovely evening so we could sit on their outdoor patio. They've changed up their menu a bit, but we were not disappointed with anything. We shared three tapas among the two of us. There was a fantastic eggplant dish on the specials menu which was stuffed with chorizo -- truly exceptional. We also got the foie gras and chicken liver pate which came with cherry compote and marcona almonds with a side of buttered crostini -- delicious. Their burrata was served on locally farmed tomato. It was so good, it literally transported me back to Naples, Italy , the last place we had comparable quality burrata. The coup de gras though was our main dish -- the Arroz Con Pollo 25, which is a divine half-chicken, with cilantro garlic rice and chorizo. I am not a big fan of chicken when dining outside, but trust me this is exceptional. The only problem was that we were so stuffed from the tapas by the time the main dish arrived that we had to take most of it back home. Oh, yes, and the cocktails are worth every penny!

Overall, we had a top notch experience. Food offered great variety and very tasty. Menu highlights were setas, octopus a la plancha, bulgogi cheesesteak, halibut, the pork shank, and the horchata and cinnamon gelato. The ravioli and tres leches were good, but underwhelming compared to the rest of the food. Our server and she offered many strong recommendations on the menu and everyone of her recommendations was a hit with the group. There were 6 of us and they gave us a private room in the back that was perfect and quiet for the group. Will be back again for sure!

Food was great. Service lacked. Could've been a one off short staff night, but it was tough to look past the quality of service we received.

Is dress code casual?

I'd say yes. I was in jeans and a T-shirt but this was summer so.

The menu has something to offer for almost anyone: hamburgers, pizza, sandwiches, soups, etc. I personally got the pork belly appetizer and the Capicola Ham & Swiss sandwich. The ingredients were really good. The ham sandwich blew my expectations out of the water. My ONLY suggestion right now is that I feel like there would be more value if the sandwiches and burgers were served with a side like chips, fruit, or fries instead of house pickles given the price point. They are planning to start doing brunch very soon on Saturdays and they have a full bar. Would highly recommend checking this place out!!! I'll update in a few months once they get more settled.

We ended up just snatching stuff from the next table when we couldn't get anyone's attention. The disappointing: the food wasn't exactly bad, but based on what we had, I wouldn't send someone here for the food. We had cold noodles (too much sauce), brussel sprouts (fine but not great), french onion fries (most interesting thing we ate), Mac and cheese (good. Not decadent but good). I'd come back to drink at the bar and down a bowl of that Mac and cheese, but I don't think I'd come back with a group looking to share apps at happy hour.

From the moment we arrived, the service set the tone for what would become an unforgettable dining experience. Our server, Lacey delivered hospitality with the kind of effortless grace that can't be taught. She anticipated needs before they were spoken, guided us through the menu with confidence, and maintained a warmth that made our table feel like the only one in the room. Wine & Cocktails: A Study in Balance and Craft The wine selection was superb -- thoughtfully curated, expressive, and perfectly paired with the richness of the evening's dishes. The cocktails were equally impressive, crafted with precision and a clear respect for balance. Each sip felt intentional, layered, and celebratory. The Paella: A Showstopper But the true star of the night was the paella -- a dish so masterfully executed it deserves its own ovation. The rice was tender yet structured, infused with deep saffron warmth and kissed with just enough socarrat to make any purist smile. The seafood was impeccably fresh, each component cooked to its ideal texture. It was the kind of paella that silences a table, not out of politeness, but out of reverence. When the chef personally came out to greet us, it only reinforced what the dish had already made clear: this is a kitchen led by someone who cooks with both technique and heart. A Birthday Elevated My husband orchestrated the evening beautifully, and Sidebar rose to meet the moment with finesse. Our guests were genuinely impressed -- not just by the food, but by the seamless choreography of service, ambiance, and attention to detail. It felt less like a dinner and more like a curated celebration Final Thoughts Sidebar Columbus delivers the rare combination of exceptional cuisine, polished service, and heartfelt hospitality. The paella alone is worth crossing the city for, but the entire experience -- from Laceys attentive care to the chef's personal touch -- transforms a simple night out into something memorable. For anyone seeking a dining experience that feels both elevated and warmly personal, Sidebar stands confidently at the top.

Fear not, all is well in the a.m. We tried 3 savory items, 3 sweet items and an Ube Matcha that was good to this coffee 'un-aficionado'. The kitchen craftsmanship was apparent in every offering - striking the perfect balance that is required when blending Indian recipes/spices/-inspired dishes into other types of cuisine. Not everything we tried was "THE BEST EVER," and that's not an insult. Again, it's the presentation and obvious care that went into each dish that separates Rooh from the pack... along with a fleet of options that taste good. The standout savory dish was the Tandoori Chicken Croissant Spiral. But the fluffiest Egg Sandwich I've ever had and Crispy Chicken Sandwich did not disappoint. On the sweet side, the Jaggery Triple Chocolate Chip was double the depth of any gourmet cookie I've ever had. The Buckeye in Dubai Tart was nice but tiny. The winner in this category was the Mango Ras Malai Croissant because their croissants are outstanding. Several breakfast menu items are made with the croissant, and I venture to say that if you just ordered all of them, you would have a terrific experience.

I was in the neighborhood today and decided to pick one up for late lunch/early dinner. Overall, it was okay. Expensive for the relatively small amount of food in my opinion, especially the beef rendang, but I realize beef is costly for restaurants lately. The rendang was tender, but not as flavorful as I was expecting (more salt might have helped). The coconut kale was a bit strange - I'm going to say that's mostly because I'm not a fan of kale, period. The vermicelli side was a nice addition, and the rice was great. I liked the mustofa potatoes, although they weren't "crispy" as described. The reheating instructions said to take out the little cup of potatoes first, but when cold they would have come out in a single clump, so I popped them in the microwave by themselves afterward for 15 seconds and that did the trick. Other issues: "consume by" date was yesterday. I don't worry too much about that kind of thing, but if you do, you might want to check your order before you leave the premises. Also, the container was too big to rotate in my small microwave. It worked out okay anyway. I tasted the sambal I got - nice heat, but again, not as much flavor as I was looking for. I'm sure I'll use it up elsewhere. Got a couple other things for lunch tomorrow, I'll update after I've tried them (pork bun, and cucumber salad). Bottom line: probably not your best choice for Indonesian food, if you're already familiar with it. Fortunately there's a place that's supposed to be opening later this year in Clintonville. Update: bumped up my rating based on the strength of the pork bun and cucumber salad. The bun: tender and fluffy like it was supposed to be. The filling - pork belly falling apart, perfect, cucumber on top, and a few shreds of pickled veg that I would have been happy to get a bit more of. Don't know what the condiment on the bun was, but all in all it was a very nice package for my lunch. The cucumber salad was delicious. Chili crisp made in house over chopped cucumber - lovely contrast. The chili crisp provides a nice little bite, not "hot" (YMMV, I like hot foods) but really tasty.
