My husband and I came across this place, on Yelp, quite a while ago, and a cold winter day brought us here for some coffees. Well, coffee bar closes around 1PM, and they flip it to bar time until closing. We were warmly greeted by the bartender (not sure if part owner since there may be a few according to the menu's gratitudes). This bar is chic with a dark academia presence. I didn't take a lot of pics, since I was one of a few ppl there. However, they lean into the Lion theme beautifully. This place is manly, while have a soft essence... who doesn't love chandeliers. On to the offerings, it's a small menu, that appears to be seasonal... small menus means you're able to perfect things ;) My husband and I ordered a snack plate, with 'Spressy and Double Entendre on the side. Snack plate was served in gold dish: roasted salted cashews, toasted buffalo ranch corn, salted caramel chocolate covered popcorn. An elegant nod to beer nuts. I was a stereotypical millennial and ordered a 'Spressy: vanilla vodka, coffee, cacao, tonka; a little morning pick me up, but at night. Fantastic pull, smooth. My husband ordered Double Entendre: bourbon, pistachio, cacao; pistachio-y old fashioned. Bourbon is NOT my drink of choice, but I can tell you the prep showed great attention to detail; beautifully crafted clean, square shaved side, ice cube to perfectly chill the drink. As stated, this place is beautifully chic, with elevated drinks. The demasque wallpaper and gold accents are definitely my vibe. I look forward to returning and trying their coffee offerings. read more

Nice to have a local bar in Bexley! We went for music on Wednesday and HH, it was 5*. I enjoyed my Old Fashion too. They have no kitchen, but are working on a work around. They are also a coffee shop from 7-1. I'm going to try that next. The owner Mike is a chatty guy! read more

I've had The Lion on my to-do list since it opened so was really excited to try it; however, it was a total dud and I won't be going back. While the bar is really vibey, the flies / gnats were a huge problem. I got a snack tray and gnats were instantly on the chocolate prosecco balls. The drinks were ... Fine? I had the "numbers" cocktail and it had a heck of an aftertaste. Overall, it was a "no" for me and I won't be back. read more

Super solid little cocktail spot that blends the ideas of soft masculinity and a boho aesthetic with some truly tasty cocktails! I stopped by to check out their menu rollout for their "Gather" program and was not disappointed: their Sorrel drink was delightful. It was a cascara and hibiscus based drink, and as such was just as floral and lovely as one would expect. Due to it being either day two or day three of the program running, they were not able to make the drink that I was looking for, but I also didn't have a set plan when I wandered in, so no worries! They also had a variety of pastries from a local baker (that was listed on the menu, I just don't recall the name), but I didn't end up getting one, despite them looking really well executed. All in all, this is a really well curated little place. They straight up were playing Bob Ross while I was in there. I strongly urge you to not listen to a person that would give a charming new cocktail bar a 1-star review over something as trivial as gnats, and give this a shot. read more

The bartender was a complete cranky jerk to us. We didn't know/understand what was in a cocktail. The cocktail said it contained "brown liquor" on the menu. We asked about putting a certain bourbon in it and the bartender just said "no" and just stood there staring at us with a smug and annoyed look not offering any other information. So we said "ok, well...what does that mean???" Then he finally revealed the secret that it was cognac in the drink so choosing a bourbon wouldn't make sense. But he treated us like crap. Dude, it was a simple question. We are not difficult customers. Did he not want to come in to work last night? Guess what? We won't be back. Going out for cocktails nowadays is too expensive for a bartender to be rude. And that's a shame because I work in Bexley and was looking forward to trying this place and potentially making it an occasional work happy hour location. Hidden gem. This is at the top of list for best cocktails in Columbus. They have a rotating menu of innovative cocktails, but I usually ask for a dealer's choice. I've gone several times and have always been impressed. Their classic drinks are always perfect and their creative drinks are mind-blowing. Their cocktails are fun and playful, but still perfectly balanced and interesting. Columbus is better off for having a cocktail bar like The Lion. read more

Walked into a very small, dark bar for coffee, one morning - - ignored by the staff, and noticed the only way to order was iPad self-service. We waited a few minutes after trying the iPad maze, and left without ordering. We've taken this "coffee shop".off our list, as there are hundreds of better options. read more

I am surprised by the bad reviews. I have been to The Lion a number of times and I really like it. And I really like the Expresso Martinis! I've always had great service and great drinks. They have a nice happy hour menu which my daughter and I enjoyed last Friday early evening before we went to dinner. The wait staff is great, the drinks are fabulous, and I love the place and it's aesthetic. read more

I was really excited to try The Lion as I had saw posts on social media and had planned our visit several days prior since we were going out to dinner nearby. We walked in on a Sunday evening and immediately went to the bar where it says to order drinks. There weren't very many people there... 10 people at the bar maybe. No one sitting in the other areas. Bartender made eye contact but didn't say a word, smile, or acknowledge me in anyway. I didn't feel welcome at all but didn't think too much about it at first. The person with me walked into the bathroom while I waited to place a drink order, once he returned, I myself went into the bathroom and when I came out the bartender still didn't even bother taking a drink order or acknowledging us. We ended up just walking out and going elsewhere. Maybe a smile, or a simple "be with you in a few minutes" could go a long way. Especially when you're paying 15-20 dollars per cocktail. I won't be returning or recommending. read more
