Across several cities, I've been to cocktail bars within converted banks. The aesthetic can be hit or miss. It's definitely interesting that a hotel has taken over this space in downtown Columbus. BBH serves as the hotel bar, and the atmosphere is certainly better from the inside looking out. Pictures that I saw on Yelp - and first impressions when walking through the hotel's front door - don't do the space justice. But once you settle in for a cocktail and look around to see various tables, high tops, lounge areas and shuffleboard tables, you'll be satisfied. If you can, get there for the weekday 4-6pm happy hour because you can get a selection of cocktails for $7. There are a few discounted shareables as well. I enjoyed my Old Fashioned but I would not get my Manhattan again. One observation is that as the place got busier, the waits for drinks got longer. Of course that makes sense, especially since cocktails need to be made with care. But this can also be mitigated with some additional staff behind the bar.
Located inside the Residence Inn, we stumbled upon this little old school bar after having dinner nearby. The inside is pretty swanky. Large bar top, with a variety of other seating options (leather chairs, couches). Two shuffleboard tables course through the middle. Not surprisingly, they have a huge bourbon collection (225+ we were told). All are priced for 1, 2 or 3 ounce pours. We made our own flight with three different 1 ounce pours. We didn't try the food, but had a fun time tasting the different bourbons. I would definitely stop by again if I was in the area, and this spot would definitely be worth checking out if you are already staying at the Residence Inn. Also, would be a great date night spot before or after dinner.
So. I wanted more for this. The drink I got was good it was really good (love at first sight). But the rest was terrible. The bourbon selection was really good. The food was not, and it was expensive. We got the board which the plate was too small for and things were falling off. We also got wings and meatballs. Everything was fine. I wouldn't eat here again.
The ambience here is great- high ceilings, very open, natural lighting, huge windows, leather sofas, shuffleboard and chess tables. They previously had a better happy hour that went until 7 with a variety of food items and drinks, but this last time I went, they switched it so that there are only about 2 small food options and 1 drink option for HH. I was a little disappointed because I loved their old HH, but still love Buckeye Bourbon. For food options, the Brussels are a must have, the wings are huge, and the flatbreads are nice and crispy. The sandwiches are just okay. Would recommend for some of the apps and the ambience!
I would do 3.5 but I will do 4 cuz it was a good time. It was pretty busy. The place is super cool. The super high old ceilings. Looks like an old train station. It's not very big and has two shuffleboard tables in the center that take up some room. We were lucky that a table was getting up as we were about to leave beside there were no tables. They have food, which I didn't know. The bar area was really cool. We sat in a corner booth. My husband and our one friend got a smoked old fashioned and loved them. My other friend got a flight. I am the odd man out and don't enjoy bourbon, but they have a full bar. I ordered a drink with mango and a liquor I had never heard of called Cachaça. It tasted a lot like a tequila. It was very good. The ambiance and the place is very cool. We would go back. They had TVs if you wanna watch sports and a wide variety of drinks. We didn't try the food. Maybe next time.
Cocktails are wonderful! Food is good, but small servings for the price. Vibe is fun. It's a bar inside of the Residence Inn Hotel - unassuming when you walk by outside, but changes when you walk in the doors. The building has fun architecture!
Visited here again out of convenience as we were staying at a nearby hotel. The drinks are always a hit, and the food can be a mix. The charred wings had a good flavor. The sauces can be served on the side or the wings tossed in it. The catch is 8 wings for $18. The Short Rib French Dip was just OK. There wasn't much meat on my sandwich, but the au jus was pretty good, and served with chips. This was also $18 which was a little steep for what was served. Be sure to triple check your bill. We had issues each time here with something extra on our bill or not enough on the bill. I think the seat numbers and tables easily get mixed up.
Awesome atmosphere with an incredible selection of bourbon and uniquely crafter cocktails. I enjoyed the smoke maple old fashions. The seating is plentiful with big overstuffed leather chairs and couches. They also have a shuffleboard table. Not stuffy but still high-end. Its located inside the Residence Inn, easy to find and worth a visit.
The bourbon menu is the star here. It's multiple pages long with lots of options. As others mentioned the online menu did not match the in person one which is much smaller. I ordered a drink off the online menu and the bartender was able to make it even though it wasn't on the current menu so that was awesome! The food was good but like others said definitely stop by for a drink if you're a bourbon fan.
As someone who greatly enjoys bourbon and who regularly orders an old fashioned, I'm surprised this spot wasn't on my radar until just a few days ago. A couple friends and I stumbled upon it over the weekend and decided to stop in for a drink. It's located in a portion of an old bank and it definitely gives you the vibe that you're "with the boys" at an old school bar back in the 70's. There's dark wood accents, tall ceilings, and of course the acoustics carry sound. They had a few games (shuffleboard), a variety of seating, and I even noticed people chowing down on some grub. It's always nice to have a few food options when drinking the good stuff! I ordered a cocktail off their drink menu. It was called "Not a Lemon" and for $12 you get a mixture of Makers Mark, elderflower, yuzu juice (so cool!), and sassafras bitters. This drink was very refreshing, light, and very easy to drink. I very much appreciated the one giant ice cube. No one likes a bunch of ice melting in their drink, I can't emphasize that enough. Pro tip - They have a happy hour Monday through Friday from 4-7PM, but they also have a happy hour on Saturday from 12-3PM. How great is that?! Food and drink specials on the weekend, now that's few and far between.
I cannot recommend this place enough. Tucked neatly in the corner of the Residence Inn, they knock it out of the park with the Bourbon selection (of course) but moreover the food! My husband and I split the Lobster Truffle Mac along with my Vault Burger & his French Dip. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the service we received from the entire staff, but especially Ashley... she was attentive to everyone and had such a fantastic attitude and personality. If you are looking for an intimate, delicious and comfortable experience; this is where you want to be!
I didn't realize this place was in the lobby of a hotel... much less the lobby of a hotel that I've stayed at before! Came here on a Thursday night to grab some drinks and a bite to eat before doing errands. Sat up at the bar. They have so many bourbons and whiskeys. Probably every makers mark every released. We were also pleasantly surprised to see woodinville whiskey which we've gone to several times living out in seattle. Bartenders were so friendly and accommodating. Ours gave great recos. I ordered the pop smoke (mezcal kombucha cocktail) and then a couple glasses of wine. He said the Pinot was the driest and would have to agree after trying both that and the cab. Never heard of brownstone before but they make a tasty and light Pinot. My husband ordered happy hour old fashioneds and they accommodated his ask for less sugar. Great day for $7! For food, we got the HH chili nachos, the lobster mac and cheese and the BBH burger. Everything tasted great. I think my lobster mac was put in maybe a minute too long (at least for my taste) since the lobster had crisped over on top and I prefer it still soft/tender. Underneath the cheese was nice and creamy though! Great cheese pull. Their happy hour runs until 7 pm on weekdays which is awesome!
Solid find for a cocktail. Large bourbon selection, but slightly odd to have zero buffalo trace. Both of our cocktails were very good and the bartenders were great. It was starting to get busy when we left, but they were keeping up. Nice size space to get a larger group together. Love the historic feel. Ordered a few slider appraisers that were just okay. I love the vibe of this place. That alone would make me want to come back. I did not try any food but enjoyed an old fashion when I was here, and it was top-notch! The service made me feel at a 4 or 5 start bar. It was just a good vibe, and I highly recommend a drink. read more
Went for Happy Hour on Friday at 5:30pm. Located in the Residence Inn on Gay Street downtown. The building used to be a Bank and is simply stunning. Huge bar with table top shuffleboards, leather sofas and individual tables and chairs. If you are a Bourbon or Whiskey drinker this is your place. Amazing selection. Great cocktails and wine/beer for the non Bourbon drinkers. Small bites offered. The menu was limited and not that good. The brussel sprouts were so charred and had no flavor at all. The sausage flatbread was just OK! I think you go there for cocktails and Bourbon, not the food. Definitely short staffed but friendly none the less. Worth a look for a happy hour cocktail. This is by far my best experience! Dayon and Onisha are absolutely AMAZING! I dropped in for happy hour as I am a whiskey/bourbon chick. They were both inviting and entertaining! I will definitely come back as my old fashion was so good. I appreciated the extensive bourbon collection and they single-handedly saved my Columbus experience and they were attached to my hotel Residence Inn!!!! Love them read more

Cute little place. Stopped in towards the end of the night, somewhere new. Drinks were on the high end price wise and in my opinion not the best. They were either way to sweet or sour. Maybe next time we will just stick too basics. Bourbon and G&t. But the shuffle boards were awesome. Loved being able to play a game while having a few drinks with friends. read more

Checked this out for their brand new old fashioned menu. They have so many options and everything was delicious. My favorite drink was the sweet but bitter Oh My Lemon. The bourbon flavors popcorn and bourbon flavored pulled pork was really delightful as well. The bar is indie of a hotel and has aa beautiful atmosphere and elegant bourbon touches throughout. Great place to go before dinner or after for some excellent drinks! read more
I always get a little nervous when I'm going into a bar/restaurant tied into a hotel. They're always notorious for being really expensive. But I had heard so many good things about BBH that I needed to check it out. I'm so glad I did! The staff is amazing. I typically get the Old Fashioned that's on happy hour ($7) and it's made with care. I even got to try a recipe they were making during a slow time. They have a nice bourbon selection, plus some cocktails if you're not into this kind of drinking. They have some neat food options (and at the time, we're doing a lot of take out orders) but I haven't tried any food yet. Can't wait to visit them again, hopefully soon. read more
Buckeye Bourbon House has good drinks if anything. It has a limited food menu. The bourbon is good if you can wait. It takes a long time to be acknowledged. The wait is even longer to check out. I had an old fashioned. It's about $8 to $10 depending on the bourbon you get. The price is pretty good for the quality. It has many bourbons and other liquors to choose from. They also make a lot of expensive cocktails if you're able to shell out for these. If you're hungry they also have some food. There isn't much for vegetarians except peanuts. If you like bourbon and slow service go to Buckeye Bourbon House. It has the best of both. The spirits are good if you can wait. read more

Ive been coming to this establishment on Gay Street in Downtown Columbus for the past 2 years and its my favorite place in the city. The comfort that I felt and quality of service that I received the first day I walked in has been consistent everyday since. It has truly become a place where I can see friends and experience quality bourbon selections, craft cocktails and delicious food. If you have not checked out this place, please do! Every second Saturday of the month (when the weather is warm), Gay Street hosts a Moonlight Market. The first of the year was last Saturday and while we were out shopping and strolling, we ended up stopping into Buckeye Bourbon House. First things first: I was born in Kentucky, the land of bourbon. The menu at this fine establishment is amazing. I have never seen anything like it in this part of the world and I am so excited about this bar's addition to our community. I did not try the food so this review is limited to the drinks. The food looked more like "shareable" bar style food to me so I would not recommend BBH as a place to come for dinner but this is certainly a great bet if you're looking to enjoy a nice drink in a really beautiful building. BBH is a "hotel bar" but it is atypical. With tall ceilings and gorgeous windows with a view of the bustling moonlight market, this beautifully-furnished space was the highlight of our evening. We had such a wonderful time taking it all in and enjoying the delicious drinks. From cocktails to wine to obviously bourbon, this place should have something for just about anyone. I dare you to break away from your usual go-to bar and check this place out. It is certainly going to give the other bars in the area a run for their money! read more

I absolutely love The Buckeye bourbon house. If you're looking for a bar / restaurant with an upscale feel and great food, this is the place for you! Everything is "house made" so it may take some time for the food to come out. However, while you're waiting you can order one of their many amazing drinks while you soak in the buildings beautiful architecture or play a round or two on their Table Shuffleboard. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. read more

I attended thei old fashioned release party and had a great time doing so. There were definitely quite a few flaws in the event because you could tell that they were not prepared for the outcome that they reeceived. It took almost an hour for me to receive my first drink and they didn't deliver the drinks by table but instead by what type you order. My drink arrived about 20 minutes after everyone else's at my table. I got the Call a cab and it was delicious! We also ordered a few appetizer which were pretty decent. I would love to come back and check it out on a slower night in order to make up for the service that I received. read more
