Pie of the Tiger!!! We ordered the Just Pepperoni Pizza and it was delicious. The pizza is a square cut into 4 pieces. The sauce is on top of the cheese and and it's just the right amount plus it's good. The crust is kindof soft but the edges are crispy not hard. There really wasn't a service because you just walked up and place your order and wait. Sitting is not too bad either. Tavern feel with a few booths and tables. Ive visited the Short North Tavern a couple of times. It's got a standard tavern interior and is overall pretty welcoming. Lots of regulars hang out here, and it's likely because they have good consistent service. The highlight for me is Pie of the Tiger, the pizza spot in the back. Best pizza in the area if you ask me! We came here on a Friday night. It is located in the Short North, but is more so a dive bar feel. We were seated right away and there really wasn't a menu. They liquors, beers, and a limited varieties of wine. Our waiter was pretty awesome and would check in on us a lot, which was nice because we were a group of 6. They offer darts and I cannot remember if they charge a fee or not as the boys were playing while the girls sat and chatted. The place was pretty spread out and clean to keep social distancing. The bathrooms were clean too! I mainly drank wine and you could tell it was just cheaper bottles. Drinks are average priced ($5-$10). This is exactly what you would expect from a dive bar, and it has a great location in Short North. Nothing too fancy, nothing too spectacular. Just a bar, with a few TV's and a couple dart boards. They do have a kitchen, although we didn't try the food. The drinks were reasonably priced, especially compared to surrounding bars in the area. Although, this isn't the place to come for a fancy cocktail. But if you just want a draft beer, or a whiskey coke, this is a great spot for you. The bartenders were also very accommodating. The drinks are much cheaper, which is a bar's most important thing It's like a cleaned up dive bar. It sits next to a few upscale bars and restaurants. This place doesn't have the fanciness of those. It has typical mixed drinks. These aren't expensive, especially if you have the wells. I had a gin and tonic. It's about $3 for a glass. The food is mostly bar stuff. I had the chips and salsa. It's about $3 for this. This is among the best food served. I like these kind of dive bars. It's a good place in a fancy area for cheap drinks. Said to be the longest lived waterhole in The Short North the Short North Tavern provides a stripped down experience. A basic dive, no thrills, no wild foodie ride, no trendy decor of edison bulbs and fancy paint work--it is just a bar with the only IPA on tap being CBC. Not that I don't enjoy all that posh stylings, I do but sometimes one needs to go up river in the wilderness. For I was looking for just a place when my actual destination was found unexpectedly crowded. Believe it or not this was my first trip here. For all my trekking the town until my soles are blue and passing by this institution for decades I never ventured in. Strange really, but there has always been so much in the SN to attract that SNT had never tickled my fancy. Until last week. I almost caused an apocalypse. Ohio State versus Michigan--The Game--my tradition and superstition: watch the game at the sports bar, Bernards, the red awning brick slice there just before The Cap, and watch my alma mater win. Works everytime; the Bucks have won 6-straight versus tsun when I watch them there. But this year I arrived too late to take my annual seat at that bar. And so all was in doubt in my heart of darkness, we're sure to lose. My fault. The horror, the horror. I let Buckeye Nation down. (;-)) On a whim and because it was close I came here. It had yet filled up with fans and so I found a seat at the bar. With several TVs and a projection on the wall there was plenty places to view. As said it is a dive. There is a space for darts, bare wood furnishing, dust, that hard wood floor of old Columbus. The only decor of interest were a collection of antique radios and TV that sat on the walks. Basic. But that's ok. On draft wasn't much, not even Budweiser just Bud Lite. Boy! I chose two CBC while I waited kickoff. They did have nice deals on pitchers. I chose a pitcher of Guinness, that dark Irish brew I so love the smell of in the morning. The staff, a crew of two, were awesome. I really couldn't believe how they handled the growing crowd with aplomb and efficiency with a genuine smile. I was never in need of service for the whole three hours of absolute kick-ass of the drubbing I watched. That's right! 62 points later my school had stuck the rivals like the hogs they were. The Buckeyes took a face from the ancient gallery and drove right down the field. It was the end for Michigan! So I might just have a new tradition. It's a nice dive in the Short North. read more

I'll save you the bs and get straight to the point... This is a basic but perfectly placed dive bar in the Short North neighborhood of Columbus. Nothing too fancy here, but sometimes you're not looking for fancy so it's exactly the type of bar you want. The food here hasn't impressed me much (although their cauliflower buffalo bites were pretty tasty) so I tend to only visit when I'm getting some adult beverages with my lady friends. The service can also be hit or miss depending on who's behind the bar that day. I have gotten lucky a few times and landed an awesome bartender. You know the kind that regularly checks in to refill your drinks, can hold good conversation, and acts as though they really like what they do. This always seems to make my time there even more enjoyable. They also have a solid happy hour so the drinks can end up being very cheap. Who doesn't like that? Am I right or am I right? Most importantly, I enjoy the laidback tavern atmosphere they have goin' on. It sort of reminds me Cheers. You know, where everybody knows your name? They also have a few darts boards in the back corner and plenty of televisions up behind the bar so you can watch a game. I love the tables up against the windows facing high street. Awesome old school atmosphere. It's a great place to hang out. It's small but plenty of seating, both high top and low top tables. They have two nice dart boards with a great area to hang out while playing. Love the old radios around the top of the walls. Very cool. The after 9pm bartender, Bucky, is great! They have a good selection of beers and any alcohol you want. On Monday nights they have dollar taco night, which is awesome. Their tacos are like the ones you make at home but 10x better. A Staple that continues to deliver fun! It is wonderful that SNT has been able to stay such a landmark and a 'go to' place for so long. We stopped in with a large group on a Friday night, after dinner, and had blast. SNT is not your fancy, modern, martini & gastro pub atmosphere. It is the place you go with friends or to make new friends in the Short North. It is truly a tavern in the middle of a great neighborhood. Wooden tables, dart boards, great bartenders, a chilled crowd, and a 'come and go as you like' attitude. We grabbed drinks and a table for a while before moving to the dart boards. We stayed probably two hours before receiving a great suggestion for late night food, from a new friend, and closing the night out. It can get crowded in the mid-late evening hours, but service is great, prices are reasonable, and their drink selection is infinite. The Short North Tavern is one of the most underrated bars in the Short North. A friend of mine introduced me to this bar within the past year, and I've been back many times; I can't believe I hadn't been here before then! The atmosphere is fairly laid back and it's a lot quieter than other bars in the area. The bartenders are friendly and happy to chat with the patrons. SN Tavern has amazingly cheap alcohol compared to other establishments in the area. A pitcher of Bud Light is under $5 during Happy Hour (and only a few dollars more regularly), and other beers are ~$11 during HH. Mixed drinks are cheap as well. I can't speak much to the food with the exception of the hummus platter, which is quite good. A platter of vegetables and pita bread with a big bowl of hummus goes great with a pitcher (maybe multiple pitchers...) of beer. They also have two dart boards that are usually not too busy. Short North Tavern is a must stop if I'm out for the night in the short north. The drinks are much cheaper than anywhere in the area. And the bartenders have gone above and beyond for me on more than one occasion. I've only been once when it was super packed. Usually my friends and I can find a table to relax and enjoy each other's company. I love coming here because I know what I'm getting and it's definitely an older, more mature crowd. The 'dive'-iest of the three bars we checked out in a small section of High Street, but I wouldn't really call it a dive. More like a hipster-free basic bar. I got the feeling most of the other patrons were regulars because the bartender was chatty with them but more subdued with us. No biggie.... I didn't expect "Liiizzzzzz' when I came in the door a la Cheers. We seated ourselves at a wooden booth (if you're planning to stay here for a couple of hours I'd recommend the softer bar stools). Our waiter was prompt with menus, but not great with recommendations. We ended up splitting the Catfish and a CBC Pale Ale. The fish was tasty, crisply fried and flaky (thanks Karin M). The fries were obviously not from a bag, so a bit soggy. We liked the beer, and all other CBC options we tried while in Columbus. Ken pointed out the 'real' dartboards, but we didn't play. read more

Dive bar. Great location, but it's old and looks like it was decorated by a 14 year old in 1983. The poppers are good, and so is the Buffalo chicken sandwich. Drinks are cheap, and it's one of those places you can go have a drink at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Monday and not feel ashamed about it. Large front window that makes for great people watching on High Street. It's always fun to have a beer and watch minor car accidents, peeing homeless dudes, and endless labradoodles trotting by. Oh the SNT!! How I absolutely love this bar!!! I'm a Bobcat all the way and this place definitely reminds me of being back in those Athens streets. The staff is beyond friendly, always making sure the patrons are taken care of! Plenty of drink options and some great pricing and specials as well! If you get a chance to explore this area of the short north, I 100% recommend stopping in! Not only do they have 2 dart boards (you do have to give the bar your ID for the darts) but they also have a game called Shut The Box!! It's kept with the staff and you also have to ask for this, but it makes for a fun game to pass around with friends!! It's definitely a more chill environment so don't come here expecting a live DJ and dancing but come here expecting a great time with friends! They have plenty of seating, including a large bar area, tables near the bar, and booths in the middle of the room, they also have a tucked away area by the windows that I recommend snagging if you have a larger group! They also always have a game on if one is playing. In addition, the bathrooms are a decent size and I've never had to wait in a line. I have been to Short North tavern many times throughout the years and I feel I should finally leave a review. First and foremost, this is a dive bar. If you do not like dive bars, I suggest that you avoid coming here. The prices here are exceptional, especially on happy hour. You can get a pitcher of bud light for $4.75. Hell, I can't even get a pint of beer from Mac's for that price, let alone a whole pitcher. Pitchers of non domestic drafts like Guinness of CBC are $11. For a bar located in short north, that is ridiculously cheap. The food is also quite good and very fairly priced. Most sandwiches and burgers are $7-10 and he appetizers are $5-8 and come in large portions. I went yesterday with a friend and we got 3 pitchers, hummus, and chips and salsa and spent $25. I have come here a couple times especially with everything opening back up and it's awesome how relaxed it is. The bar is the biggest compared to some of the others in the area but that's fine as the prices tend to make up any flaws this place has or might have in the future. Its in a great location has a nice dive bar type of feel you might say. I love this bar! If you're in Short North and don't want to pay a cover or bother with bougie drinks and prices, this gem is for you! It's in a great part of town and has tables, booths, and food. It's unique for the area it's in! The drinks are strong and decently priced. In my experience, the service is good for how busy it gets. I'll usually swing by if I'm in the neighborhood. It's a lovely, fun, casual bar in a relatively high-end part of town. The only reason I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars is because the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. With the option of a table, booth or bar stool, entertaining options like darts or a local paper, and an A-ok selection of beers and specialty drinks, this is a clear cut, by the book tavern. I was able to walk straight to the bar. The crowd was actually pretty underwhelming. I didn't know what I wanted, but instantly saw the ammo: Franks hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. You know what that means! Bloody Mary! Got it and loved it! It was paired perfectly with the free peanuts in a shell. After gorging on Jen's Splendid ice cream, we were walking back to the hotel when we saw a sign that advertised bbq pulled chicken sandwiches for $3.50, that made us pause. Usually you only see bbq pulled pork on the menu and I do not eat pork, plus $3.50 was enough for us and we went in. After perusing the menu, we all ordered the sandwiches, buffalo cauliflower, and sweet potato fries. The brioche bun tasted a little stale and the chicken was a little dry, but the buffalo cauliflower was on point!! I was throughly impressed because I do not typically patronize bars as they are not my cup of tea. The sweet potato fries were also very good. Finding a bar in the Short North that serves a bloody Mary for less than $8.00 is hard to do but this bar has it for $4.75. They also have a rotating local draft and plenty of beer options. I don't really have a bar that I claim to be "my go-to bar" in Columbus. I guess that's a good sign that I am not an alcoholic. That or I am just not picky. But, if I had to choose a bar to go to on the fly on any random day, Short North Tavern comes to mind. Short North Tavern is a modest bar that fits the bill for everything I like: nothing too prentious, nothing too dirty, no loud music, cheap drinks, close proximity to home, a nice selection of grub, and dart boards! You can go here with friends, enjoy a cheap beer on draught and still hear each other's conversation without having to scream. Music exists here, but is not too loud. Plus, it's not the annoying top-40 hits or techno beats. Instead, it's good old classic rock like The Rolling Stones. The benches are made of wood and the bar is one nice-sized open room. The place does get a little crowded on weekends, but if you get there before 10 and snatch up a table, you should be set. They have good food as well...and a wide selection. I recently had the catfish and chips and I have no complaints about it! The waitress was a bit slow, and forgetful, but she remedied that by giving our table a drink on the house (at least she recognized she wasn't exactly on the ball that night). And, as I mentioned, there are dartboards in the back, which have provided many great memories for me and my friends. An out of towner but frequent traveler to Columbus over the last decade, I am a bar guy. I like friendly and diverse people, customer-focused staff, and good music. For the first few years I was a Novak's guy. Then the new ownership turned it into who knows what; I don't think they even know. But it's an abortion up there. So Yelp took me to Char Bar. I liked it there for awhile but then something unfortunate and unexpected happened: their internet jukebox enables clientele to play whatever they want, and sometimes this means country crooning into dubstep into country into who knows what. Not the bar's fault, but nonetheless it's a flaw. I couldn't take it tonight so I yelped again and Short North Tavern sounded like what I am into. I've been here a couple hours now. Very friendly staff, cool people and best of all, they control the music and they do it extremely well. So far: Lou Reed x 2, deep Beatles (I Want You So Bad), Lennon (Instant Karma), The Animals, The Kinks. They use Sonos and Pandora and have impeccable taste. At least tonight they do. Bartenders are A+. I love bars that will put a friendly charismatic dude in a hooded sweatshirt back there in lieu of hiring a dozen 110 pound Sarah Hyland lookalikes. In this case, Matt. Good trustworthy and helpful bartender. And I don't know where to begin on Lindsey. She is as good a bartender as I have seen (I have worked in many bars in many cities). She has this natural inviting smile that makes you want to be there. She is honest that the grapefruit juice might be a bit skunked yet says it in a way that makes you trust the entire establishment. Bad juice happens -- thank you for telling me. The screwdriver is excellent. I swear if I was opening a bar anywhere in America I would try my damnedest to get her on my staff.
