What a hole in the wall gem! Only place in Columubs I know of (and only 1 of 2 in Ohio) where you can get an Old Style. And a 16oz can for $2.00! Holy moly what a cow! Being born and bred as a Chicagoan, Old Style is near and dear to my heart. It's not that good, but memories don't have taste. They also had Old Milwaukee in a can, the stuff my dad used to drink because Old Style was too expensive. Haven't had one of those in 45 years! Got a bit of a low down from the bartender on the history of their menu. Apparently, the chef was from Chicago and his family owned a small pizzeria in town. He brought the Chicago style deep dish to the joint, as well as the classic Chicago beers. Apparently he left a few years ago for the left coast and the owner worked out a deal to retain the pie. Regardless, I saw an Instagram on the pizza in this joint and had to give it a try. Looked like a Giordano's style deep dish, so we ordered a pepperoni and sausage. Only one size, but that makes plenty of leftovers for the two of us. The crust, cheese and sauce were spot on. The toppings were a bit on the skimpy side. The sausage was not the big chunks of Italian sausage I had hoped for, but the cheese and sauce made up for it. So much cheese, but not to the point of a colon blow. And the sauce was slightly sweet, plentiful, and delicious! The crust was also very, very good. Big as you would expect, yet still soft on the crown yet crispy on the edges. My daughter and I had 2 slices in total, took 6 home. The service was very good. You have to order the pizza (and pay) at the back of the joint, directly with the kitchen. But we had the pie on our table in about 25 minutes. not sure how they got it cooked that fast, as I'm used to waiting 45 minutes or more for something of this magnitude. A lot of locals in the place, with a Buckeye fan giving me shit about my orange and blue, but all in good spirit. Meisers is a fantastic discovery! My wife attended Northwestern University and lived in North Chicago. This bar offers the best deep-dish Chicago-style pizza that she has had in the Columbus area. I know this might sound controversial, but she preferred the pizza here even more than that from Giordano's in Chicago. The pizza was simply outstanding. We ordered the 16-inch size, the only option available, with pepperoni and mushrooms. There was enough pizza for four, possibly six people, especially if you also ordered the cheesy bread, which looked great, but we decided not to get it. The bar has a neighborhood vibe reminiscent of places in New York. It has a humble appearance, with TVs everywhere, two pool tables, and even a dartboard. To place your order, you must go into the bar and turn left to find the counter right in front of the kitchen. The beer selection was impressive, featuring craft beers and classic options like Black Label and Old Style, all at reasonable prices. We visited on a Tuesday, so there were no servers; we ordered our drinks from the bar and food directly from the kitchen. The tavern is secluded on a dimly lit road in Upper Arlington, not far from the OSU campus. It has a parking lot, which is convenient. Stopped at Meisters yesterday for a couple pizzas to eat in. Got a deep dish classic and a regular pepperoni pizza. The bar is a bar! So don't expect a nice restaurant. It was absolutely fine though. Draft beer was very crisp, clean and cold; they definitely sell a lot and/or keep their lines clean. I'm a freak but I can tell if they don't keep lines clean. The pizzas, both, were very good. The only thing that keeps me from giving a 5 star was that the deep dish dough was pre cooked some which is great. When they added the cheese and toppings and sauce they just didn't get it hot enough when it went back in the oven. I like my pizza to be nuclear. The regular pizza was very hot. We did a pizza pickup so I can't speak to the service or ambiance, but I can say for less than $30, we got a mushroom and sausage deep dish pizza that lasted us 4 meals. It's SO much cheese omg I like the taste and consistency of the sauce and it's 80% cheese. There's a little flavor on the crust, but I wish there were a dipping sauce to go with it, like a garlic butter situation. The toppings (mush and sausage) were scant. The food was awesome. The pizza could have taken up to 40 to cook so if ordering deep dish you may go through a few drinks waiting on it. For a dive bar, it's great. Had plenty of sports on tv and a standard beer selection and such. There were several pool tables and at least one pinball machine. There is an outside front patio. I don't know if it's reserved for smokers or that's just a default setting. We went for pizza. We were pretty excited to try it with a friend who pitched it. The pizza was not so great. It is deep dish, and as such it did have a freaking ton of cheese dumped into the crust. So much so that I had to focus on chewing well and long not to choke on bites of chewy cheese. Despite the overwhelming quantity of cheese, that and the sauce were both good. The crust was the weak link all around. I expected it to be kind of crisp like a pan pizza or a little flaky like a pastry or pie. Instead it was largely flavorless and uninspiring--more dry and cardboard-y than crusty. There was a slight bit of garlic applied to the crust, but the crust would be better with a garlic oil put into the deep dish while cooking to crisp and flavor the crust. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by Meister's. I recall reading other Yelp reviews from a few years ago that mentioned rude service. If that's still the case, I didn't experience it or see it with other patrons. I went during an Ohio State men's basketball B1G tournament game, and the sound was on which was appreciated. I also saw that they were a Browns backer bar, so it seems like they have local sports fans covered. Their six draft beers were priced well, but the main event for me was the deep dish pizza. I'm no stranger to this Chicago classic, and I (again) was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The bottom crust was a little thinner than you might find at some places, but to me this was an advantage. My one critique is that the Meat Lovers pizza seemed light on the meat, but there was ample sauce and cheese to satisfy. There were also daily drink specials, a pool table and dart boards, the latter located in a semi-private area with its own TV. I love the atmosphere at this fine establishment. It feels very quaint and they played good music! The deep dish pizza was amazing. I definitely see why people are saying its the best in Columbus. The crust almost reminds me of a soft pretzel. It's very soft and buttered to perfection. The cheese is amazingly melted and the sauce completes this meal wonderfully. Wow! This pizza was amazing! I have no idea how I found this place on Yelp but I saved it and knew I wanted to eventually try it. So tonight we had date night and decided to go. I knew it was a bar but not like a hole in the wall dive bar. Super cool joint with darts and pool. There isn't an actual server if you plan on going for the pizza. You gotta get your drinks from the bar area and another area is where you order your food. We ordered the 16" deep dish with pep and banana peppers. Took about 30 minutes but the beer was good and cold while we waited. When our buzzer went off to get the pizza I had no idea that it would weigh as much as it did. Chicago style right in central Ohio. The sauce is probably one of the best sauces I've ever had. Not too sweet. Perfect blend. The bottom crust is kind of like a cracker crust. Good luck trying to use the plastic utensils to cut it. The crust is kind of like a pretzel crust but not. Would be better if there was a garlic butter on it. The bartender was friendly and so was the staff where you order your food. The video is after we had a few pieces so it had a little more time to cool which I recommend. After living in Chicago for three years and then moving to Columbus, I've been on the hunt for the best Chicago deep dish style pizza in central Ohio. Nothing compares to that spot on Clybourn Ave on the North side... if you know, you know. So eventually I started hearing whispers of this dive bar tossing up a good copycat and I obviously had to give it a try. I ordered over the phone for pick up on a Friday or Saturday night, I don't remember. But I do remember this was early lockdown mode and bars were not supposed to be operating. To my surprise this one was anyways and while I felt really uncomfortable, I just ignored them and walked to the counter to pay and get my grub. The inside is nothing to write home about, classic divey vibe for sure. I got the pizza home, threw on a movie, and my friend and I dove in. I was pretty unimpressed right away. The crust was so dry and burnt in many places, I could barely eat it. It was as if not an ounce of oil or butter or anything was used to make the sides nice and crispy and well, edible. Anyhoo, I checked out the other photos on Yelp and it sounds like I was just there on an off night.
