What a hole in the wall gem! Only place in Columubs I know of (and only 1 of 2 in Ohio) where you can get an Old Style. And a 16oz can for $2.00! Holy moly what a cow! Being born and bred as a Chicagoan, Old Style is near and dear to my heart. It's not that good, but memories don't have taste. They also had Old Milwaukee in a can, the stuff my dad used to drink because Old Style was too expensive. Haven't had one of those in 45 years! Got a bit of a low down from the bartender on the history of their menu. Apparently, the chef was from Chicago and his family owned a small pizzeria in town. He brought the Chicago style deep dish to the joint, as well as the classic Chicago beers. Apparently he left a few years ago for the left coast and the owner worked out a deal to retain the pie. Regardless, I saw an Instagram on the pizza in this joint and had to give it a try. Looked like a Giordano's style deep dish, so we ordered a pepperoni and sausage. Only one size, but that makes plenty of leftovers for the two of us. The crust, cheese and sauce were spot on. The toppings were a bit on the skimpy side. The sausage was not the big chunks of Italian sausage I had hoped for, but the cheese and sauce made up for it. So much cheese, but not to the point of a colon blow. And the sauce was slightly sweet, plentiful, and delicious! The crust was also very, very good. Big as you would expect, yet still soft on the crown yet crispy on the edges. My daughter and I had 2 slices in total, took 6 home. The service was very good. You have to order the pizza (and pay) at the back of the joint, directly with the kitchen. But we had the pie on our table in about 25 minutes. not sure how they got it cooked that fast, as I'm used to waiting 45 minutes or more for something of this magnitude. A lot of locals in the place, with a Buckeye fan giving me shit about my orange and blue, but all in good spirit. Not sure if they consider this a campus bar or not, as we seemed to be on the fringe and I saw only one table of Illinois wannabes that couldn't get into Champaign and settled for OSU.

Bar itself: Everything you'd want from a dive. Would come back for sure. Two pool tables, Golden Tee, KISS pinball and dart boards. The bathrooms are way better than expected, too. Deep-dish pizza: We got a pepperoni deep dish and it was a huge disappointment. I'm not sure what kind of cheese they use, but it was super salty and threw off the taste of the entire pizza. Each of us had less than 1 slice before pitching it because of the saltiness.

Okay so not to be mean but anyone saying this is better than Chicago deep dish or thee best place in Columbus or Ohio for that matter is insane! It's definitely not bad, so I'm not saying that just to be clear. Pizza is good, not great. I had high hopes for this place but the pizza was heavy and not as good as everyone said it was. Would I order it again, probably not but if I was down here in this bar and drink then yes of course I would. It's a 5 or 6 out of 10. My pizza has a weird chalky taste and was lukewarm warm. Also I was told it was a 35 minute wait and it was done in 7 minutes so I'm happy about that. The bar is cool and the food is good.

Ordered a pizza here to try. Oh.my.gosh. The crust was so crunchy in the perfect way. The sauce wasn't tangy and had so much flavor. Definitely coming back to try other ones and maybe sit at the bar!

Meisers is a fantastic discovery! My wife attended Northwestern University and lived in North Chicago. This bar offers the best deep-dish Chicago-style pizza that she has had in the Columbus area. I know this might sound controversial, but she preferred the pizza here even more than that from Giordano's in Chicago. The pizza was simply outstanding. We ordered the 16-inch size, the only option available, with pepperoni and mushrooms. There was enough pizza for four, possibly six people, especially if you also ordered the cheesy bread, which looked great, but we decided not to get it. The bar has a neighborhood vibe reminiscent of places in New York. It has a humble appearance, with TVs everywhere, two pool tables, and even a dartboard. To place your order, you must go into the bar and turn left to find the counter right in front of the kitchen. The beer selection was impressive, featuring craft beers and classic options like Black Label and Old Style, all at reasonable prices. We visited on a Tuesday, so there were no servers; we ordered our drinks from the bar and food directly from the kitchen. The tavern is secluded on a dimly lit road in Upper Arlington, not far from the OSU campus. It has a parking lot, which is convenient. While parking might be an issue on a Friday or Saturday night, plenty of spaces were available on Tuesday. My wife has said this is a place she would return to.

Stopped at Meisters yesterday for a couple pizzas to eat in. Got a deep dish classic and a regular pepperoni pizza. The bar is a bar! So don't expect a nice restaurant. It was absolutely fine though. Draft beer was very crisp, clean and cold; they definitely sell a lot and/or keep their lines clean. I'm a freak but I can tell if they don't keep lines clean. The pizzas, both, were very good. The only thing that keeps me from giving a 5 star was that the deep dish dough was pre cooked some which is great. When they added the cheese and toppings and sauce they just didn't get it hot enough when it went back in the oven. I like my pizza to be nuclear. The regular pizza was very hot. This place was great, I will go back for sure and drive out of the way a bit to go there.

Deep dish is more like Detroit style. If you like a doughy pizza this place is for you. The pizza place doesn't serve with a smile. The sauce is ok buts it's not a deep dish. You get plenty of cheese and won't need a fork to eat it. You won't be hungry and it only comes in 16 inch. It's small and loud. Just know it's a bar.

If you like your bars small, your parking lot smaller, and your beer prices straight out of 1975, Meisters is your spot. Walking in, you instantly know this place is all about authentic dive bar energy--a little cramped, a little chaotic, but full of charm. Their famous $1 Beer Thursdays are a glorious time warp: Old Milwaukee, Hamm's, Blatz, and Genesee lined up like a liquid museum of "dad beers." The pizza? Massive and unapologetically heavy. One pie is basically a workout just carrying it to the car. I grabbed one to feed the tribe, and it did the job--cheesy, saucy, hearty, and built like it means business. The staff deserves a shoutout: super friendly, helped me figure out where to order, and even walked me through the beer selection (apparently $1 choices need curating too). Pro tip: Show up early. Parking is a knife fight, and seats go fast once the beer-and-pizza crowd starts rolling in. Verdict: Meisters isn't fancy, but that's the point. It's a dive bar with a heart, a pizza oven, and a time machine back to $1 beer glory days.

Sometimes you just crave a deep dish and Meister's will absolutely scratch that itch! We did a pizza pickup so I can't speak to the service or ambiance, but I can say for less than $30, we got a mushroom and sausage deep dish pizza that lasted us 4 meals. It's SO much cheese omg I like the taste and consistency of the sauce and it's 80% cheese. There's a little flavor on the crust, but I wish there were a dipping sauce to go with it, like a garlic butter situation. The toppings (mush and sausage) were scant. The cheese doesn't leave a lot of room for the other toppings. Might just stick to pepperoni next time.

The food was awesome. The pizza could have taken up to 40 to cook so if ordering deep dish you may go through a few drinks waiting on it. They give you a buzzer so you don't have to wait by the window in the back. You will have to order food from the back because it is separate from the bar seating area. The bar had a nice mixture of young people as well as the older crowd. Everyone got along well. It does get a tad loud once it gets crowded but they do have a patio to sit out on to get away from the noise. Overall if you enjoy cheap beer and pizza you will enjoy this place.

McClellan's Pub delivered a plate of Fish & Chips so good I briefly considered applying for dual citizenship with Ireland and Great Britain just to honor both sides of the dish. Perfectly crispy, piping hot, and seasoned like the chef whispered sweet nothings to the fryer. The whiskey selection? Huge. Titanic. Practically its own ZIP code. But not a drop of Powers. , A tragedy Shakespeare himself would've rewritten entire scenes for. So, like any self-respecting Irish-at-heart patron, I defaulted to good old Jameson--reliable, comforting, and always there for you, like that one friend who helps you move because they "actually like lifting things." I also grabbed to-go orders for the home tribe: bourbon meatballs, prime rib sliders, and meatloaf. The feedback? Universal acclaim. They devoured everything like I'd brought them a peace offering after years of conflict. If McClellan's ever launches a catering service, entire families could be reunited. The place was packed through Happy Hour and well beyond--apparently, half of Columbus had the same idea. If popularity is a metric of quality, this pub is basically Beyoncé. Temperature-wise? A bit chilly. Could've been the weather... could've been the pub... could've been the frigid realization that they were this close to having my favorite whiskey. Hard to say. Bring a jacket just in case. All in all, McClellan's is a rock-solid choice for hearty pub eats, stellar vibes, and enough whiskey to make you forget they didn't have the one you wanted.

This option is not on the menu but was a yummy and healthier option. McClellan's is tucked away in a shopping plaza at the corner if Snouffer and Sawmill behind a bagel shop. They have a lovely patio on the side of the building if you want to sit outside. Inside is a european style pub with old liquor bottles for cold water on the table. Arrived approximately 3:30pm - restaurant basically empty (maybe 5 tables total occupied). Went to check in for 2 and the host said he had reservations at 5. Huh? So I asked do you mean you can't seat us until 5? And he said no, that we need to leave by then because other people are coming. I thought that was very weird and unprofessional. I've never had an experience like that before. It's a basic sit down place, why would you think we'd linger for more than an hour and a half? Whatever, weird feeling, but we were seated. Seated in the walkway. Not like in a path but literally blocking the walkway where you step down. Why do I say this? Because people walking by kept banging into me. Not their fault. Why is there a table there? And why were we seated there when at least 80% of the restaurant was empty???? Ok whatever. Ordered food including their signature made in-house tots. Waitress comes back and says they were slammed in the morning and they're out of tots. (Man I feel bad for the people coming at 5. LOL) whatever except the people at the next table appeared to be served tots. Food was tasteless. The Mac and cheese had a weird texture like the roux wasn't cooked properly. My patty melt was mostly bread as the patty was too small for the bread. My husband had the signature chimi burger and it completely lacked any chimichurri flavor. Like at all. We were out by 4ish (plenty of time for them to prepare for their expected onslaught) and needless to say I've unbookmarked this place from my yelp. Maybe we'll try the Mexican place across the street next time. ‍
