Durian birthday cake for my friend's mom.
    Vivian C.

I've been stopping by Van's Bakery for years whenever I need a cake for a birthday, holiday gathering, or when I want to bring a dessert as a gift. One cake I end up buying pretty often is their durian birthday cake. My friend's mom really likes it, so whenever we celebrate her birthday, I usually come here to pick one up. The decorations and colors have more of a traditional old school style rather than the softer, modern cake designs you see these days, but the flavor is what keeps I coming back. The durian filling is delicious, and I like that there's coconut inside as well. Besides birthday cakes, they also carry a variety of other pastries and desserts. The prices have always seemed reasonable to me, and it's the kind of bakery that's easy for just about anyone to stop by and find something they like. The bakery is located in the ABC supermarket plaza, which can get pretty busy at times, but I've never had much trouble finding parking since the lot is fairly large. The staff have always been friendly and pleasant during my visits. Whenever I need a cake for a special occasion, this is usually one of the places that comes to mind.

My favorite cake from Vans is the pandan coconut cake. It was good, but I think the one in San Jose is better. But Luckily they have just a slice! They have many different items here and many snacks. I wanted to get more things but didn't need that much food. Good little bakery!

Tomorrow I'm about to turn 21, and I need a birthday cake to celebrate that day. I walked in here today, and saw that there were flan and jello pandan cakes. The cakes are good, but I don't know what to get so I left. My parents encouraged me to get one from this location and I decided to do so. I'm hoping to get something that can remind me of childhood.

We wanted to get my mom a mocha cake for her birthday so she requested a cake from Van's Bakery. This place is nostalgic because growing up my parents would get me a coconut pandan cake from here. The cakes are always moist, fresh, and delicious. As always the mocha cake I got for my mom didn't disappoint! We like that the cake was not overly sweet. Service was fast, the workers are all very nice and helpful. Ambiance is good, pick out your cake, bakery goods, or other delicious things they sell and pay for it at the counter. Definitely recommend if you want a different type of cake.

Van's Bakery Walking into this bakery feels like stepping into a world full of pastries and sweets , there's so much to choose from. I usually get coffee, bánh lọt with coconut milk, and different pastries. The desserts are enjoyable and not overly sweet , the flavors are well balanced. The bakery is spacious and clean. The older ladies who work here are very friendly, warm, and welcoming. One big plus is that they don't charge for plastic bags. Even though nowadays, wherever you go, you're charged a bag fee, which honestly feels unreasonable. Each location has plenty of parking, making it very easy to park. We love Van's Bakery! No frills, no AC, no nice decor, but tons of fun goodies and beautiful and tasty cakes! Don't sleep on their blended drinks either! I personally really enjoy their soursop smoothie and pennywort with mung bean on a warm day. I highly recommend their durian or pandan cakes, but not the mocha one. They mentioned their mocha is a top seller, but the two times I've gotten it, it was dry.

I called in the morning to customize my Pandan cake and it was ready by 2pm! Flavor is very subtle and light, which I love. I didn't want to regular green so I requested pink and white! So cute and very impressed with their service and attention to detail! Absolutely perfect and gorgeous, just how I envisioned it. Cake was so soft, moist and the perfect balance of light and airy. Their cakes are really popular because it's not too sweet! Vietnamese folks love it. Highly recommend to try it out. They also have jello cakes, wedding cakes, holiday cakes, fruit cakes, coffee cakes, durian cakes etc! Swing by and check them out!

The service is very quick, and the ladies working here are friendly. Cakes are pretty expensive now.. it was $50 for a fruit cake tart. The cake was very fresh and delicious as usual. We needed an emergency dessert, so this place is perfect and reliable for a quick stop. Parking here in this lot is absolutely insane....... But if you can find a spot far away and walk, it's worth it. They always have various sizes and flavors of cakes available. No pre-order needed. I brought it to a thanksgiving dinner. Really tasty cake with plentiful fruits!

The store is well played out as you enter you get a display of cakes, as you go towards the cashier you get to other pastries and macaroons. The team there was friendly and willing to help.

Ayooooo!!!! Back at it again, if you are looking for an alternative to a birthday cake you need to get this Asian Fresh Fruit Tart. It had a flaky puff pastry base filled with a delicious vanilla pastry cream and fresh whipped cream with an assortment of fresh fruit. I got the 10" that was around $40. The bakery also had an assortment of different asian birthday cakes. Sorry didn't get to take photos as i was in a rush. There was a huge parking lot, cards are accepted and staff were so friendly and nice. Give them a try if you are in the area, I just walked in without a pre order.

10 inch pastry tart cake is $ 35, the best here 07.09.24

So, I bought a 1/4 sheet cake for my husband's birthday on purpose because I wanted leftovers!!! The fruit is fresh and plentiful. The cake has two regular cake layers, one layer of crispy pastry and a pudding layer all surrounded by delicious (not too sweet) fresh whipped cream)... This is my favorite kind of cake and if you'll compare the Yelp ratings on other bakeries who also sell a similar type cake, Long Phung Bakery wins!! They make them fresh daily and you can normally just walk in to get one, but call ahead to reserve!

It seems a bit messy, or maybe they need a bigger shop. Step further into the shop and there it is, the case of cakes! The case itself is old and the window to view the cakes is not clear, seems foggy. Hard to see the cakes. But with all the hype about this bakery on social media, I had to try it The Fruit Cakes are unique with fresh fruit not glazed or jam. Big bite size strawberries, mango, kiwi, grapes, pineapple with a thin layer of sponge cake, layers of crunchy phyllo and whipped cream. The smallest cake is a 1/4 sheet which cost $45. With all the fruit on top, it made it challenging to slice nice looking dessert slices. Super yummy, I can understand why people are making reels about this place on social media. It's a winner. Friendly service, accommodating and responsive to our needs. We requested no kiwi due to one allergy to it and they make it within 10 minutes.

Anyone I've offered a Manmi cream puff to agrees with me. Cream puffs are 75 cents each. They're big and are generously filled with a custard cream. I usually pay in cash, but you can pay with card (except American Express) if you're okay with a small processing fee. There isn't much seating in the bakery, but there are a couple of chairs and tables to the left. From my experience, people usually just come and go.
