A long-time Houston family planted in Houston and have been in business for prob over forty years or so! Father and son business and I came to them to have some jewel appliqué embellished jeans hemmed because I'm a petite 5'1 girly and it's hard to find jeans that fit! I called them on Easter weekend and they were about to close shop early for the holiday weekend but I caught them right before closing and they agreed to stay open just long enough for me to get there and drop off the jeans. I arrived and Mr. Imparali (their dad) stayed after just to measure my hem and then the tune around time was quick! Just a few days later we picked up the jeans and they even expedited it for us. Excellent customer service, above and beyond, and precise, dependable work on the hem! I'd highly recommend them and use them in the future! Just the sweetest family honestly!

My daughter researched and found this gem for me. Kiku was very friendly, professional and very experienced. She has been in business for over 40 years. She kept her promise and was able to deliver excellent results in 9 days. My gown had to be taken in on both sides of the bodice and dress had to be shortened. I was given a second fitting before the alternations were finalized. Kiku had to remove the embroidery on both sides of the bodice before taken it in and then put the embroidery back afterwards. All alternations were done perfectly. The price l paid for the job was very reasonable. I highly recommend Kiku at The Sewing Center to anyone who appreciate excellence! Thanks again Kiku.

I cannot recommend this tailor enough!…read more We brought in my son's very inexpensive 3-piece Amazon suit that was WAY too big, and somehow, in just a short turnaround, he transformed it into something that looked like it came from a high-end boutique. My son wore it to his school's end of year dance and was absolutely beaming and he felt confident, stylish, and so proud of how he looked. The craftsmanship was flawless -- he didn't just tailor the suit to fit perfectly now, he even left extra fabric hidden inside the seams so we can let it out as my son grows. That means we'll get maybe another year out of it, which is such a thoughtful touch most people wouldn't even think of. If you're looking for someone who is not only incredibly skilled but also truly cares about their clients, this is the tailor you need to see. We will 100% be back!

The person said the return time would only be an hour, so I quickly went over to the mall location. I just needed the pants hemmed, but when they asked if I wanted them brought in at the waist, I said I'd do that only if they could still be ready that day, She told me that actually neither would be finished that day, even though she had said the hem would take under an hour only 30mins prior on the phone call. Whatever. The tailor who measured me was pretty rude. I was charged an exorbitant $68. Despite him marking while they were on my body, the hem is 1-1.25 inches too short, which just fucks them up entirely, and they didn't create a seam at the hem. I just really did not expect a blind hem for $68. The stitching is ALL OVER THE PLACE and the sewing created puckering everywhere. I did a better job sewing when I was 12. When I finally wore them, I realized how bad they look. So disappointed.

It feels like they are well past their prime as a business, or maybe they are just over it. My recent experience was incredibly frustrating from start to finish. The woman who took my clothes was abrupt, impatient, and failed to fit the garments correctly during the initial consultation. Many hundreds of dollars later, the actual alterations were way below the standard of a professional tailor. When I returned to try on the completed items, several adjustments were clearly still needed. Instead of fixing them, I was dismissively told that "it was supposed to be like that." To make matters worse, the clothes weren't even pressed--they were just wound up and shoved into a plastic bag. On top of the awful quality and customer service, their prices are much higher than competing businesses in the area. After years of loyalty, I will not be returning. I strongly would not recommend.

The reputation he built -- quality, speed, and a family touch -- is a Houston story. Over the past several months, I've become a much more frequent client, and a pattern has emerged. One sister is genuinely warm, attentive, and makes you feel like your business matters. The other is a consistent source of frustration. Too many visits have started with visible irritation on her end, required me to redirect her attention to alteration needs that should have been obvious, and ended in results that reflected the disconnect. She is doesn't seem to love/like the craft or even the business-- and that shows up in how she engages with clients. There have been moments I've walked out so taken aback that I called a friend just to confirm I wasn't imagining it. I wasn't -- this appears to be a pattern others have experienced too. It's also evident in many online reviews. I share this because I want this business to do well long term. Their father built something special, and the foundation is still there. But one person's attitude is a real risk to the reputation he worked so hard to build. I hope she finds her way back to loving this work -- the business and its clients deserve that.
