Expensive, outrageously crooked stitching, puckering, cut 2inches too short. Called on a Sunday to ask if they could do a couple of minor things on some suit pants I wanted to wear to an interview the following day. The person said the return time would only be an hour, so I quickly went over to the mall location. I just needed the pants hemmed, but when they asked if I wanted them brought in at the waist, I said I'd do that only if they could still be ready that day, She told me that actually neither would be finished that day, even though she had said the hem would take under an hour only 30mins prior on the phone call. Whatever. The tailor who measured me was pretty rude. I was charged an exorbitant $68. Despite him marking while they were on my body, the hem is 1-1.25 inches too short, which just fucks them up entirely, and they didn't create a seam at the hem. I just really did not expect a blind hem for $68. The stitching is ALL OVER THE PLACE and the sewing created puckering everywhere. I did a better job sewing when I was 12. When I finally wore them, I realized how bad they look. So disappointed. read more

MY EXPERIENCE WITH NICHOLS ALTERATIONS: I took my shirt in for work on collar. When I picked up the shirt (this took two trips, as the first time they had not done the work -- but argued with me that they had. They finally agreed the work had not been done, and I left the shirt with them again). When I came to pick up the shirt again, the work on collar had been done. Because of the nature of the job, there was no need to try on the shirt. Sometime later, I discovered the sleeves has drastically been shortened. The sleeves were originally 36/37". (I'm 6' 9" tall) They were now barely below my elbow! I took the shirt back to the shop to show them what had happened -- obviously, they'd mixed my shirt up with another customer's order. I was told I'd have to speak to the owner, who was not in. I gave the employee my name and number -- they assured me he would call me. After a week, having not received a call (What a surprise). I emailed the shop via their website. This began a couple of weeks of emails back and forth, trying to set up a face to face meeting with the owner. He cancelled several times (I'm sure he was hoping I'd give up and just go away....NOT) I finally pinned him down to a day and time. I took the shirt in, along with a duplicate of the shirt (Which hadn't been butchered). He looked at the shirt for five seconds and then proclaimed his shop had not done the work -- denying they had altered the sleeves. I explained this was the shirt his shop had for several weeks, (I showed him the receipt), and that it had never been taken to any other tailor shop. He had no explanation, and refused to take any responsibility, refusing to reimburse me for the cost of shirt I had to purchase, to replace the shirt his shop had ruined. Both turned me down but was recommended to try Nichol's for the type of alterations i needed. I look them up and they are in the galleria, where i didnt want to drive to. Still i needed my suit fix so I called and turned out the owner pick up. I told him my situation and he told me to come over asap so they​ can start working on it. When the proprietor really cares and has been in the business a long time, it shows. You can never get fast, good and cheap but this place is fast and good! Right now, I'm in two minds about this place. Yes, they are professional and the quality of work that they do may be great, but they wanted to charge me close to $100 to alter one dress (not a wedding dress, a regular work dress). They did say the alterations stated at $35, but I didn't think every thing they altered on the same dress would be $35. I dropped off 6 dresses, at $100 per that's $600 in total. The dresses were purchased for no more than $50 each. So I'm already not interested in furthering this business. I think I'll continue shopping around for a cheaper alterations shop since most of my dresses usually are a big big in the upper back area, which means I'm going to continuously need to be taking stuff there. At $100 on average per dress, I don't think I'll be able to do this. Three stars because I'm pretty neutral about this place. read more

I am among the many people who showed up thinking I was going to the old Marcello's, who moved out of the Galleria. They occupy the same space now that used to be Marcello's, the longtime "go-to" alterations place down on the rink level at the Galleria. In any case, I saw the new name on the sign. They seemed friendly enough so I gave them a try. Mistake. First, they charge double or more what Marcello's used to charge. Second, and this is a BIG one, they do not do same day service like Marcello's used to. The quality is fine but I would have appreciated a warning of their drastically higher prices and slower service before having my jacket marked up for tailoring. I feel like these folks get a lot of business from former Marcello's customers who don't know any better. But they will know once they get the bill or find out their simple alternations will take days to complete. In my case they didn't tell me my jacket would be four days to complete when I needed it the next day until AFTER I paid. They do beautiful work, though, although it's no better than Marcello's used to be. read more

I'm a customer that had several dress pants, coats, blazers, and button up shirts altered. It's very hard for me to find dress shirts that fit the length of my arms. They made the dress shirts fit perfect and they did not look like they were altered! Also with my coats and blazers. The dress pants also are a work of art. This is the best alterations boutique I've ever went to. Extremely great service with excellent staff. I walked in and presented Raul with a complicated alteration where I needed a couple blazers altered at the chest and a couple dress pants that seemed a little baggy. Raul told me to return the next day as I paid for a rush service and comforted me by letting me know that my apparels will fit me better than I had imagined and they surely did. The clothes fit me perfectly and I paid what it was worth so if you're stingy don't bug them for an average joe expected job. Take it to Chinatown if you want a quick fix for a cheap suit. read more

The seamstress that fitted me was super sweet. I was being a procrastinator and waited till the last minute to have my dress altered but they had it ready in no time. I highly recommend coming here. I went from hating the wedding dress I had purchased to completely falling in love with my dress thanks to Nichol's Alterations! I was told by other places to be careful with changing the dress bc of the material but everything came out beautiful! I came in explaining exactly what I wanted my dress to look like. The only thing they were to change was the lace jacket. They used the same material from the original jacket and I brought new material that they could use to alter it. They took measurements and I came back only once to see the final product or if they needed to change anything. The lace jacket that they altered made my wedding dress into a completely different one! I was shocked to see the difference! It was done timely and their work was outstanding!! Went here to get a bridesmaid's dress altered for a wedding and not only did they charge me $175, but they altered it entirely too small. It took two people to zip it onto my size 2 frame, and she made me take my bra off to get it on at all (the exact one I wore when I was measured).
