I love that it's small, family owned and you get to know who is working on your items Parking: They have several parking spots but I still find parking challenging because of the narrow street it's on. It can be hard to get out of your spot if there's quite a bit of traffic. I've also been here when there are no spots available. Service: Everyone is always polite and attentive. They're usually pretty busy but someone does always at least tell you they'll be with you in a minute . Turn around time: You can get things turned around quicker if needed and they do work with you. That being said if you don't need it urgently you may end up waiting a week or two. Cost: Their prices are so competitive!! I definitely always feel like I get a good deal here Other things: The space is fun to just look around in. Overpriced and prices aren't consistent. Example- Took 3 pants in to be taken in, total was $124. Way over priced doesn't even make sense. Took 3 pants to be taken in the week prior, total was $90. Process took 12 days. Went to another tailors on Edwards St. and they actually let me know what they charge upfront w no confusion and work was completed in 3 days. Plus I'm not happy with the work done here. I've had to bring the same pants back multiple times and they will still charge you for their mess up. Reading through their reviews from 15 years ago - written by friends and people who I actually know IRL and trust - I shoulda made the tailor switch ages ago... Martin Tailors is a family-owned and operated business - it's also minority owned and veteran-owned, and they offer military discounts. They tailor everything from suits and gowns to casual clothing. Most recently, I had a gown and a dressy jumpsuit altered and I was so pleased with what they did to make it fit me perfectly (short girl problems, y'all). The beau had some dress shirts and a tuxedo altered... we were both pleased. Their biz hours aren't too convenient for deskies... they close at 5pm. I work remote but it's still hard to break away from my desk. But they do have a small window on Saturdays, which is appreciated. read more

Was recommend to this business by a local "Green" dry cleaning service so gave it a try. It was not your typical alteration shop, think a historic house turned into business, but do not let that deter you! I remember when my grandmothers use to alter clothes and curtains in a small room and they were the best. As a customer, you should generally have an idea of how you want your clothes to fit you because your choice is an individual preference. I had a couple of pants that needed to be shortened in length with a single break. I informed my tailor of the request and he insured my pants fit the way I wanted them on my waist, took the chalk out, made a couple of guides, pin the pants and viola. My coat need to be shortened and if you look at a typical coat cuff it can be a daunting task because it is not only a tuck and sew, but you have to separate the seams, possibly realign a button hole and still present the garment as close to original as possible and Martin Tailors pulled this off. I received a text informing me that my items were ready to pick up a day before the expected date and upon arrival I was given the option to try the items on before I left which I declined because I trusted my tailor upon the initial meeting. This tailor business has been a service to the local and surrounding community for decades and has a rich family history which you can see just by the memorabilia surrounding the shop. read more

BEWARE!!!!! Today was my second time using Matin's. I came to have one pant hemmed and one pant fixed due to an error on their end. I enter and the older short blonde woman rudely asked me what I need. I nicely say I am picking up. She doesn't respond she just stands there and stares... I say nicely, I'm picking up. she proceeds to tell me with an extremely rude tone 'WELL I NEED YOUR INFO, NAME!". I said "You didn't ask for that detail or I would have provided it... this is my second time here I don't know your process. it could be name or phone number which is why I paused to wait for you to inform me of what detail you need". This is basic customer service. With her at the front desk I will never return and do not recommend anyone subject themselves to this miserable woman. I am spending my hard earned money to tailor clothing, not deal with extremely poor service. Tailoring: 7/10. I've had 4 items hemmed and waist taken in. On a waist alteration , they remove and do not replace the label from our designer clothes. Always check to see if your label is still there! Also I have picked up and paid for alterations which actually were never done! Always try your clothes on when you pick them up before paying. I have never written a review in my life, so this is a first. I love Martin tailors and have been coming here for about 6 years. I purchased a very expensive very high quality Italian suit for a very special occasion and trusted Martin tailors to get it fitted just right. This was a mistake. I walked in to a mad house, getting measurements took approximately 30 seconds. The guy who measured me asked me "what do you want"? Like, brother I am here for your expertise get this suit fitting like a glove. I don't know what I need man. That felt rushed and horrible and I had a bad feeling. I return a week later to pick up the suit and I am handed it and nobody asks me to try it on, verify the look, nothing. Wtf! I go home and try it on and the suit jacket has not even been touched... still has the pins in it... Okay, mistakes happen no big deal I bring it back. Few days later I go get the suit, again nobody cares to check the fit on me... Suit just doesn't look right... Worst part was it cost $200. CREEPY AND EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. TERRIBLE SERVICE!! I am writing this review on behalf of my girlfriend. She took a bridesmaid dress to get altered a few weeks ago and it took way longer than expected then it turns out they didn't even alter the top like she paid for so she had to go back getting back to crunch time and here's the worst part.. She put it back on for the measurement and a creepy old man had her hold up the dress while he continually groped her breasts and pulled the fabric. Out in the main room in front of a full length mirror while another gentleman was waiting in line behind her and her chest was exposed. The old man's response? Oh.. don't worry about him, he doesn't care... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? She has never felt more uncomfortable in her life and I would give this place zero stars if I could. We were both FURIOUS. Also, I realize I am not a woman and have never had this type of alteration done, but I have talked to several and they have never experienced this either. They were just as shocked! My gf also had them do a dress before and they didn't feel the need to fondle her for adjustments then or the first time they measured her for alterations on this one before they completely dropped the ball. Not sure who the older lady is that works the front, but she is awful and I noticed was charging more for things than when I was helped by one of the brothers. I tried to avoid her by always asking for one of the brothers to help me, but I eventually found a new tailor that is nice, fast and affordable like Martin's used to be. Too bad. read more

These guys are friendly and the customer service is great, but not-so-much on the tailoring. If you're basic and aren't picky about the way your alterations should fit, go here. Took a pair of pants into the tailor and the staff was very nice and approachable. The day before I took my pants in I called and asked about the pricing for having one pair of trousers let out a little bit. The young lady on the phone told me that it would be about 45 dollars total. I show up at the shop and try my pants on and tell the guy to let them out but not to cut them. Today I show up and there is a tag hanging off my trousers that says $125. I asked the gentlemen what this tag was about and his first response is "I'll work with you, we cut your pants!" I replied with "the lady on the phone said $45, and I told you not to cut them." Gentleman said theres nothing he can do except bring the price down to $75. I figured 75 was better than 125 but still is an outrageous difference from 45 which was originally quoted, and considering the fact that the pants brand new were only $100. Save your money, and find somewhere else to get your stuff tailored. The unfortunate truth behind what brought me to Martins was because he said he was military friendly and that he understands our uniform regulations and would make sure i was taken care of. I never leave less then stellar reviews, but I felt I was taken advantage of on the pricing. I had one dress that I haven't even worn where the zipper broke so I decided to bring 2 garments that needed zippers. No one quoted me, no deposit and I was shocked to pay over $60. There was no rush order either. I almost left the 2nd garment and not paid because it now in general cost me "double" but I would never do that since someone did work on it. The manager came out and simply said YOU don't know how much work goes into this. I have to disagree that those were my thoughts. I live near by so I was hoping to use this place and refer people to it, but I feel there was no transparency. I still can't believe I paid that bill. read more
