Can't even begin to say the amazing five-star experience I received from Imparali!! I had found Imparali through Yelp and so glad I did because Matt Imparali and his dad are absolute gems!! A long-time Houston family planted in Houston and have been in business for prob over forty years or so! Father and son business and I came to them to have some jewel appliqué embellished jeans hemmed because I'm a petite 5'1 girly and it's hard to find jeans that fit! I called them on Easter weekend and they were about to close shop early for the holiday weekend but I caught them right before closing and they agreed to stay open just long enough for me to get there and drop off the jeans. I arrived and Mr. Imparali (their dad) stayed after just to measure my hem and then the tune around time was quick! Just a few days later we picked up the jeans and they even expedited it for us. Matt is amazing! A few years ago, I purchased an overcoat that never quite fit me right. I searched for tailors on Yelp, and Matt was the first to respond within minutes. It took a while to find a good tailor in my area, but this is it! First, the vibe is exclusive and very well kept. I first brought in an oversized bridesmaid dress. I was taken care of really fast and they held my item until I was ready even though I was late coming back. Some places start to bother you and even lose items. I spent my time researching tailors in the Houston area to make alterations to my wedding dress. This dress was originally my mother's dress that hadn't been taken out of the box in 30 years, so it was a fragile project and I wanted to make sure it was done by professionals. Based on all the raving reviews of this place, I came here, and my first impression was that they were professional, reasonably priced, and kind. About a month goes by when I got 3 missed calls from the Imparali Custom Tailors phone number (same number listed on Google), as well as a voicemail from Bob. On his message, he stated that HE had received a phone call from me (even though I had not called him), and to please call him back. When I called him back, I told him my name, & he responded "You have called me too many times, please stop calling me," & hung up on me, then proceeded to immediately block my number. SO, my fiance had to call the business from his phone, and Bob told him my dress was ready for a final fitting. Meanwhile, I reached out separately to the lady who was supposedly working on my alterations for the past month (at Imparali), to check to see if she'd be in the office when I went in for this "final fitting." She responded that she had yet to even start on my dress! (was she never going to tell me this unless I had reached out to her?!) So I went in the next day and met with her, and she explained to me that she had questions about my alterations and that's why she hadn't started my dress yet. Again, why did I have to reach out to them 4 weeks later for them to tell me this? When I walked in and told Bob that he had blocked my number, he laughed at me and said he didn't do that. I had proof on my phone, to which then he finally apologized and said it was a misunderstanding. Even after this, he wanted to get another quote so she could continue (aka "start") working on my dress. At this point, she had basically told me that she couldn't do what she originally told me she could do. I picked up the box and left, starting back at square one, and will never be going back to this tailor again. Worst communication, worst customer service (who blocks a customer from calling when you have their wedding dress?), and worst experience. read more

Imparali custom tailors is great! I got a dress last minute to go a wedding and Bob (if I'm not mistaken that is his name) was able to get my dress done within about two days. Regardless the fact, the seamstress was sick and they still made it work for me. My dress needed to be tightened hem up as well as shortened the train. I had an awesome experience with Bob at Imparali. After visiting multiple Men's Wearhouse and being turned away as I had a two week deadline, I decided that Imparali was the next stop for me. I walked in, was welcomed by Bob, and began the fitting. Overall fitting took about 3 minutes. I let him know of my deadline and he said the shop would have alterations done in a week. I really like this place. The owner is almost always there and he is super cool. He'll offer you a beer or liquor or anything you want while you're looking around. This guy also knows his suits very well. He has been selling suits his entire career so he is extremely knowledgeable. He also knows exactly how to tailor a suit. I am sorry to say that I had a very poor customer experience that ended my relationship with this tailor. When you order a suit and it arrives late as well as completely wrong as to the lining material, the wrong thing to do is to ask the customer to accept it as is in return for a discount on the following order. People do not pay this kind of money for a swing and a miss. The customer pays you to get it right the first time or to make it right, not to take a chance on the next order at a cut rate. When you promise the customer that you will order materials to correct the problem quickly in house and it takes several weeks, the customer starts to wonder if you simply returned it to China or wherever it was manufactured for a complete re-do on their tab. When you finally give the customer a confirmation much later that your error has been corrected (in house) and he shows up to find the exact same error repeated (plus the cuffs seem to have now disappeared from the trousers) and you then berate the customer for various things such as questioning you on the material you have still not used, it does not set well with the customer. That is especially true when you have promised the eye of the tiger and have done less than nothing. When you then promise the customer a 10% discount on this order for having gotten it wrong twice, it does help a little. That is a very appropriate gesture. At this point, both owners of the business have overseen a botched order iteration. When you take forever to fix your several errors and the customer does not have enough faith in you to pick up the suit hours before his flight, and then you wonder why he didn't have faith in you to come through, it strains the imagination. The customer returns (at his convenience and leisure, not yours) a few weeks later after his two new suit-less trips having take what he has. When you berate the customer more at this point and want to sell him some shirts to boot, it is not good form to get offended and ask the customer why he is not in the right frame of mind to place an order at this point. Maybe he wants to see you make good on the current order and show yourself to be a stand up guy first. When the customer inquires about the richly deserved discount that you offered, it is incredibly bad form to tell him you never made such an offer. This begs the question of "why didn't you offer some sort of consideration for your several significant mistakes and total lack of QA/QC?" and insults your customer's integrity at the same time. When you go one to complain that you might lose money if you honored such an offer given two complete cycles of the same fundamental error, you tip your hand as to what your real reason for amnesia might be. When you go on to blame your son (a co-owner), your customer, and various other things, your are gas lighting and projecting at a very inappropriate time, if there ever is one. When you berate your customer for finally getting irate, and then act offended when he suggests that maybe you should focus on protecting the profits on future sales that you might never see at this point, it shows disrespect to your business, to your son, and to your likely to become a former customer at the same moment. When your customer simply decides that he is not going to argue with you about his own integrity, pays you in full, and leaves your establishment never to return, you have made a poor business decision. You have been really very childish and unprofessional in your treatment of a customer. Also, when the customer that you have disrespected so mightily had actually brought in a prospective new customer with him for his final insult, essentially giving you the benefit of the doubt after your string of fundamental and repetitive errors, only to have them witness you craw-fishing on the discount you offered (and definitely should have offered) to make things right, sees you deny having made such an offer, and sees you tell the customer that he did not even deserve such an offer apparently, you should not wonder why the prospect walked out the door with your newly minted former customer without any other inquiry as to giving you any of his own business. In conclusion, this is how you lose a returning customer in spectacular fashion. Mess up the order several times, don't even do a quality check to see if the error has been fixed when you repeatedly bring him back, and then call the customer's integrity into question several steps along the way. When your customer gives you this many chances and you don't grab them thankfully, there is something very wrong. Why would anyone go back? There seems to be a stream of similar reviews about this establishment, along with some uniformly lame excuses or rebuttals from management. That does not bode well either. The place does have a nicely stocked bar out front. However, this reviewer will not be accepting a drink from this tailor at this point. read more

Stopped by this place to get 2 bridesmaid dresses altered. Both dresses just needed to be taken in a little bit. They wanted to chart me $150 per dress! This man is crazy. When I told him that was super overpriced, he said that lay both for 150$. I went somewhere else (about a mile away) and got both dresses altered beautifully for 85$. By far the worst custom made product I've ever received. I purposely considered and ended up purchasing dress shirts because of all the positive reviews on Yelp. Little did I know, Bob would take my measurements to make me 6 men button down shirts that are puffy around the waist with an hour glass shape around the waist (which I've been told is more so a setup for female shirts). I thought it would be fine since he offers unlimited tailoring, but that is not a real benefit either. Given that all 6 shirts did not fit me, I asked that he alter them two at a time. After the first alterations, the shirts still had the puffy effect. Therefore, I brought one shirt for a second alteration. That's when he blew up on me and said that he doesn't work free. Long story shirt, I kept my cool, left and had my shirts altered else where for an additional $20 each. After these alterations elsewhere, only two of the shirts fit well and the other four I had to giveaway to someone smaller than me in both height and width. Bob will try to sell you from day one by being genuine and offering drinks. But the reality is he's just another snake in market. My plan was to test out these shirts and continue to purchase my professional wardrobe here - didn't happen. I will never recommend anyone to this store. read more

Worst service ever! MR. BOB is so rude and impatient. I Had to come in 3 times because they hadn't done what I asked for to my wedding dress. They had to bustle the dress from the inside and they did it from the outside (looked horrible).  The second time I came in he told me: "I pay the Lady fixing your dress hourly and she is taking too long. what is wrong with you? she is telling you it looks good". Basically telling me to hurry up and take my dress the way I didn't like and the way it didn't look good. By the way the Lady did not speak English well making it harder to communicate with her. It seems that my fiancé and I may be the only ones to have such a horrible experience at Imparali. When we first visited, we were extremely excited about our experience. The son of this (what seems to be) father/son business was gracious in taking my fiancé's measurements. He taught us about all of the different elements of the jacket and gave us great guidance to get the dinner jacket and tuxedo shirt that we've been dreaming up for our wedding. We were told that we would hear back in 3 weeks. After 4 or so weeks without any word from Imparali, we decided to call, especially considering that we were about to be out of the country for a bit. When we called, the father answered and told us that he had called us twice to tell us the jacket was ready for a fitting. We had no calls nor voicemails from the store, but our greater concern was that it would be okay for us to come into the store once we were back in the states. We were told that was fine. When returning to the US, we came into the store and had an experience that I've never before had in my life. Both the jacket and shirt that we had made were enormous. My fiancé had lost weight in his waist but both pieces were likely 5 inches too large everywhere - even shoulders and chest where he surely has not lost that amount of inches. While pinning the jacket, the tailor Pam suggested moving the button over about an inch. This made the jacket front and lapels look completely off center. So, I asked if there were any other options. At this point, the father jumped in to tell me that he would be happy to refund us completely. I asked what did he mean. After repeating himself, I asked, "Are you saying that do you do not want our business?" He raised his voice and answered, "Yes. You are not going to be happy with anything that we do. So, you should take your business elsewhere. I will refund you, and you can get out of my store." I asked if we could call his son because clearly that was not the case nor our desire. The father told me that we had been difficult from the start after not coming when he had called us twice. At this point, my fiancé had sat through a man raising his voice at me for an entire conversation. He stepped in and said, "That's bullshit. We did not get any calls or voicemails." The father then said, "Do not use bad language around the women. Not in my store." My fiancé said to the owner, "I would like to give you my card to process the refund, and I would like to leave your store." When calling his son, he talked through what they would and would not be able to do. He apologized for the entire situation and promised to call us back first thing the next morning to work things out. We still have not heard back. My mom was with us during the experience, and even she was appalled. She said that she had been completely caught off guard by the owner's reaction. read more
