Memorial Tailors is the real deal. I went here to get my wedding tuxedo tailored and the suit came out perfect. They will have you try on the suit and start to pin and measure where they see fit and they will also make some recommendations (i.e. tapered pant legs) that you are free to decline. All of the alterations are itemized as well, so it is a very professionally run shop. I received my suit in a few short business days and I was very impressed by the quality of work. While they're definitely not the cheapest, you get what you pay for here. read more

There was a snafu on the hemming which t Ceasar calmly addressed and when I picked it up the dress hem was all good. The dress had manufacturing issues with the sizing so it is a difficult job getting fit where I want it. We agreed that I'd bring the dress back back closer to the event for final tweaking of fit. I've been a customer of Memorial Tailors for several years since moving to the area. What initially drew me to this shop was their quick turnaround times, which were perfect for my frequent alteration needs. I have a smaller waist, and many of my clothes need to be taken in, especially since I often buy dresses and sets two sizes larger to fit my bottom half, leaving the top portion extremely loose. At first, I thought I was getting a good deal, but the prices have gradually become more expensive. For example, they recently charged me $100 to alter a single pair of pants, which seems excessive. My most recent experience was when I needed a suit altered for a funeral and required same-day service. While I knew about the extra fee for same-day alterations, I was shocked to be charged nearly $115 just to fix the jacket. I will say this--Memorial Tailors does excellent work, and their craftsmanship is top-notch. However, the pricing is becoming harder to justify, especially when there are other options around that provide similar quality at a lower cost. At this point, I'll only use them for rush jobs because of the convenience, but I do think they are overpriced. That said, it's the Memorial area, so I somewhat expected higher prices. read more

I worked with Jeremy for my wedding dress alterations and the process was quite stressful. He showed me different types of bustles for my dress, but my bridal shop consultant recommended a French bustle. I felt like I was swayed to going for an American bustle when that wasn't the right fit for my dress. The following week, we pick up the dress and it has multiple clear buttons on the back for the American bustle that looked completely out of place and were extremely visible. I was really upset because it ruined the look of my dress. They ended up fixing it to the French bustle like it should have been all along and it looked much better for my wedding day. While my dress turned out fine in the end, I felt like the expertise wasn't there and time and money could have been saved. read more

This place is top-notch!! I dropped off my suit, late Tuesday evening and needed it by Friday morning at the latest. I was promised everything would be completed by Mid Thursday. To my surprise my suit was ready by Wednesday, around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. The staff were very professional, inviting and fast during the final fitting. I ordered a dress that was too big online because I couldn't pass up this normally expensive dress, marked down to $30. Once it arrived, I loved it but wanted it to fit better. I look on Yelp and find Memorial Tailors and this business stood out because all the reviews were great. I made an appointment and when I arrived, the owner (?) welcomed me and said, "Good to see you again!" I told him it was my first time there but I already feel at home. He had me try on my dress and pinned it in all the right places and told me to come back in a couple of days. They called me sooner than expected and the dress came out fabulous! RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had 3 shirts and a dress (simple, non-formal) where I had nothing done other than simply taking in the sides, and they have had the items for a full 7 days. The ticket said they would be ready "BY 5:00" today - it doesn't say "AT OR AFTER BUT ABSOLUTELY NOT BEFORE 5:00." I came in at about 3:45 - and yes I fully realize that is before 5:00, but what did it hurt for me to see if they were ready? And no, I really didn't think ONE HOUR before the ready BY time would make a difference. Apparently it does HERE - DO NOT come before that time on the ticket or you'll get an incredibly rude attitude snapped back at you! Once the girl asked for my phone number and looked up my ticket, she immediately said, "your ticket says your pick up time is 5:00, but I'll see if they are ready." (Again, I'm barely an hour early, but I guess they work right down to the wire here because she came back and said it would be closer to 5 before they are ready). I asked the girl how long they'll hold items, and she shrugged and said, "Like 1 or 2 weeks." (First off, is it 1 or 2?) Secondly, I took MAYBE 30 seconds to look at my schedule for the next day, and then I said, "It's just that if I can't make it here tomorrow, I won't be able to come back for 2 weeks. She SNAPS back, "Then we'll see you in 2 weeks" - AND *IMMEDIATELY* WALKS OFF. Stunned at the audacity for her to be so rude, I went to my vehicle but went right back inside because I decided I'll just find something to do for an hour (which included writing this review and making sure to include all facts and details) because I'm not leaving my clothes here for 2 weeks, and the same girl says to me, with a very short tone, "Can I help you with something else?" I said "I want to make sure my clothes will be ready at 5:00 to get them today." She snaps back, "I'll make a note" - and again immediately walks off. SO. DAMN. RUDE. I don't need that kind of disrespectful RUDE A** ATTITUDE. Had this girl been NICER and explained why they typically aren't ready ANY earlier, that would be different, but since not, I will find another place to have my clothes tailored where the people have courtesy, respect, and POLITE customer service. Screw this place; I will absolutely never be back here with that kind of crappy attitude from that girl. read more

During my first visit for my wedding dress, I talked about what I wanted to do in general and specifically with Elwin. I needed to change the style of my dress from a ball gown to an A-line. He said he can and would do the alternations. The specific alterations had increased over time by 1 major thing. For all the other alterations, it took like 4-6 visits partly due to the people doing the alterations not being in the room with me for the fittings and partly due to Elwin wanting to break up the alterations into different visits. This was frustrating but I figured I'd let him do his job the way he does it. I noticed he would be nice to my mom and not me. He would talk more to her than to me. During our appointments, he hired female assistants. So all of a sudden they'd come into the room along with him, but without any introduction. This felt disgusting since it's supposed to be private and I am in my wedding dress. I was vulnerable and he was bringing random people into the fitting room I was in.... When it came time for the last alteration, which I had specifically not discussed with him, but generally did (bring the skirt in a little to turn it into an A-line), he fought me on it and complained about changing the dress. It came to the point where I had to repeatedly say that bringing it in is what I wanted with a raised voice. This was unpleasant and he should not have put me in that position. Also, the alterations were expensive here! My experience with him taught me about how vendors love being rude to brides. read more

I brought my wedding dress here along with my mom/sisters bringing their dresses. At first it was good, but it was clear as it got closer to the wedding date they are too busy and are not staffed properly. The 2 weeks leading up to my wedding I had to come back 4 times to have the dress done the way we asked, often times we'd show up for the appointment and nothing had been done. They are also extremely expensive. We spent easily thousands of dollars on our dresses here to have to bring them to another tailor the day before the wedding to make adjustments we had asked for. I would not recommend them if you want a stress free experience. read more

Wedding day was painful due to needles left in my dress! I ended up with cuts on both sides of my breast. Turns out they left NEEDLE PINS inside the dress. They had adjusted my dress the first time but my breast area needed more adjustments so they told me to go back the following week. For the finally adjustments they decided to halfass the job. Instead of completing the adjustments they decided to secure it with needles (they had a whole week for this and I paid a rush fee)! I didn't feel the needles when I went back for my final fitting. (They hid them well) I ended up leaving the dress one final time so it could be steamed (they should've done this beforehand, it would've saved me an hour drive. By this time they had my dress for a whole month). The day of my wedding I started feeling discomfort on both sides of my breast. I took off my dress and realized I had cuts and I then saw the needles. I don't recommend this place. I wanted to give them a chance even though every time I went someone was always complaining about their clothing not being properly altered. I will definitely not be going back or recommend them. I was left with scarring and holes in my dress, so much for wanting to take care of it. Thanks a lot for such a painful wedding day. read more

I recently bought a pure silk blouse from China, but it was shapeless and boxy. I really wished I could have liked this place more due to the reviews. I went in and was excited to get my wedding dress fixed. The people who work here are super friendly and I liked how organized everything was. I got Vicky the store manager who was kind but forgetful about things. However she kept having me come in to correct something she forgot or did wrong on my dress. I came a total of six or seven times and she wanted me back for two more dress fittings..it seemed to never end! ( what I had done was pretty simple) especially for what they charge here you would think the work would be quality work. I brought my wedding dress to Memorial Tailors in April. Having heard good things about the business, I was excited to entrust something so expensive with professionals. However, my dress was handled so poorly and for what I paid, the work does not match the cost. The day I went to pick it up, the fit was better however they hadn't added in the lining I had asked for. They told me to come back a week later after they went back and added it in. I returned the day I was asked to and when they brought my dress out, the lining was still not added. They had instead added a tulle layer that I did not ask for. The issue was that my dress was see through. Tulle did not remedy that. Once I clarified for a third time what I needed added, they told me to come back the next day. With it being a holiday weekend, I said I could wait to pick it up Wednesday the 6th. My appointment was set for 4:00. I was in the area at 3:00 so I popped in just to see if I could pick it up early. I was told they were still working on it and it would not be done until 5:30 or 6:00 if I wanted to wait. I told the lady no thank you because I live 50 minutes (with after work traffic) away. I asked that it be brought to the Montrose location this morning instead. I was never given any word on pricing. The one time I was asked about it, I was told that someone would go over it with me after they added in the correct lining. I picked it up today and the lining was finally added. However, they did not take out the tulle lining. At this point, I just wanted it out of their business. I paid $540 for a hem, taking in the sides, and the lining. After looking at the hem closely and the scraps they left in the bag, I was appalled that someone would handle a wedding dress in such a way and then charge so much for it. I expect a refund or to be compensated somehow for the lack of care and professionalism through this entire experience. I will not be returning to this business in the future. I was refunded and offered a chance to correct the issues but I did not want my dress in their hands any longer. read more

I brought several items in to mend small holes/rips. Out of the 4 items, 2 of them I had to take back for them to fix again immediately (loose strings, poor work) when I picked them up. The worst offender was a pair of pants with a ~1" hole I had accidentally cut with scissors when opening a package that they were in. I wanted their honest opinion on whether it was worth fixing the hole because I did not want the fix to be noticeable - it wouldn't be worth it to keep the pants. They explained to me that they could just do a small stitch fixing that straight cut across and that they would mend it in a way that if you not be so obvious. I agreed because the cut was on the inner leg, so I was happy to hear I didn't just ruin them by accident. When I got the pants back, there was an obvious patch which they did not mention to me at all (I would have declined a patch) and the straight scissor cut that I had made was ripped even further down to the right side. Photos show exactly how they were returned to me. Unacceptable. It was still ripped in a place where it wasn't ripped before and was glaringly obvious. If I had known that was going to be the finished product, I would've never bothered. Luckily I was refunded and they apologized, so no hard feelings, but definitely not taking my things here again. My dress was all lace and needed to be hemmed and bustled, and gapping in the shoulders and back needed to be taken in, with less than a month to the wedding. They did a fantastic job. It fit like a glove and I had many people tell me the bustled dress could have been made that way. Incredibly responsive and friendly staff. They even talked me out of an alteration for another garment, so I never felt like they were trying to just get my money, they cared about doing a quality job. I was referred to memorial tailors by the store I purchased my wedding dress from. My dress needed the hem, the bustle and I needed a little adjustment to the bust. It's a beautiful Rosa Clara strapless wedding gown. I had over 10 fittings. After the consultation, I explained what I thought was needed. On my second fitting nothing at all had been done to the dress. Next fitting still no changes. The young fitter I was working with had no clue on how to fit a wedding dress. The fitter is not the one doing the work. They pin what needs to be adjusted and send it to the back for someone else to sew. Things get lost in translation. And the fitters seem to forget what needs to be done to dress. I'm giving two stars instead of one, because I ended up asking for another fitter to help with my dress. She did the best she could with only two weeks till wedding. My wedding was February 18. My first fitting was in October. It was a waste of time. The most stressful part of my wedding planning was getting my dress to fit properly. I would not recommend wedding dress alterations here. read more
