I had been going to another tailor for a couple years, but I started to see inconsistencies with their pricing. I was recommended to use William the Taylor and I should have BEEN going to him all along. Great pricing, great quality, and his team is super fast!! I typically go to him for jeans because what's more perfect than a pair of jeans that fit like a glove, riI've also had a gown shorten. I was pleased with both types of services. I had a little trouble finding the suite the first visit. I associate the suite numbers with the floor level and assumed suite 110 was on the first floor. Upon arriving, if you enter the building from the entry facing Westheimer, he's up the stairs, quick right down the first corridor, and leaves his door open with a welcome mat. Giving three stars because the tailor redid the suits. Overall the prices slightly cheaper. Your probably better off paying that extra 10 dollars and going elsewhere. Dropped off two suits. Hemming the pants taking,taking in the sleeves, and brining in the jacket came to 140 (70 dollars per suit). Issues: -sleeve hems weren't even. There was literally a V for the sleeves. Never ever had this issue at any other tailor. Didnt think that was even possible If you measure and cut it properly ... Maybe they don't? -suit was taken in way too much that there was very very bad creasing on the jacket. (I also purposely asked for more room in the suit as I'm trying to gain weight). The tailor fixed all issues. I have never had any of these issues with my previous tailors. Unfortunately I took my first quality (1200) suit here and def regretted it. Just wasted more time getting them to fix it and coming back multiple times to get it read more

i had two items that needed new zippers. i purchased the zippers in advance and took them to william the taylor. one item was a pair of jeans and the other item was a jumpsuit. i dropped them off on thursday and they called friday afternoon to say that they were ready and i could pick them up. i noticed that no one let me know how much it was so imagine my surprise when i arrived and i was told the total would be $35! now i could understand maybe paying $35 if i did not provide the zipper but $35 plus tax and i brought both zippers and i was a lot. almost $40 for two zippers. if returning the items and getting replacements wouldn't have been such a hassle, that's the route i would have gone. unfortunately, i need both of these items for an upcoming trip. if you have something small such as a alteration definitely look around at some of your dry cleaners that are in your area that do alterations i'm almost positive that they do them for less. read more

Yes, but you Will never find them to have a better quality than William's. William had worked on the most simple things as hemming my pants to tailor fitting entire high couture suits for me and every time I've been very satisfied with his work. First review of 2014! Actually I thought I had reviewed this already and I was just planning to update... but there was nothing to update from :P I've been coming here for years. Yes, it's in the back of an office building, so just drive around. Altered everything from jeans to suits to dresses with great success. Sometimes William comes out and makes 3 chalk marks on a suit and says, ok, it will be ready xxxxx. How can those 3 chalk marks be enough?? But somehow they are. Tailor magician I say. Prices are usually reasonable, but check to make sure the alteration you want is worth it (e.g.: Changing pleated pants to flat fronts is pricey! Better love those pants!). Notes: - Their credit card machine has been "broken" forever, which pretty much means it's cash only - no checks. There is an ATM in the building, but it charges a $3 fee. - Even if they tell you something will be ready on a particular day, call ahead to make sure. I have dropped by a few times when things weren't ready and I had to go back later. read more

This place is the most awful business I have ever been to. I don't think I've ever left a shop so angry before. I brought a bridesmaid dress to be altered about a month ago. They altered it, but then completely ruined the front part of the dress. It became uneven so they had to fix it. Then every weekend I called them (they stopped calling to let me know if it was ready or not) to see if it was ready. I waited 2 additional weeks. Finally I called on the third weekend and William said it was ready, but he'll call me back (whatever that means). I arrived and my dress wasn't ready. I was FURIOUS. I told him it's been a month and he has no excuse to not have it ready by now. I gave him one last chance and said I would come back tomorrow. I came back the next day and to my horror my dress still wasn't ready. William sputtered many excuses, to which I just grabbed my dress and stormed out of his shop midway of his sentence. I cannot believe how irresponsible William is and am so disappointed. Do not go here. Unless you enjoy wasting your time, I suggest you find another place. read more

Happened to work in the nextdoor office to William for about a year, and I have to say, the guy is tremendous. I had some jackets that he let out and other odd tailor-jobs that he was always quick about, and with which he did quality work. And virtually every person that left his office had glowing things to say about his workmanship, attitude, flexibility, etc. It's a real family/homey/comfortable environment there (certainly much more so than next door...), and I suppose there might be more talented/amazing tailors in the city (maybe), but probably few that will love you and appreciate you and treat you as well as William will. RUDEST tailor I've ever met. Both him and his staff are inconsiderate and unprofessional! The entire office was a disaster; the fitting room looked like it was a recycle bin for old garments and trash. Once I came out of the fitting room with my pair of dress pants, I waited over 15 minutes for William to even come out of the back to measure me. When he finally attended to me, all he did was turn me around, lift the pant, and when I tried to give input on my preferences for the length, he immediately shook his head and told me no. He wasn't having it! Completely disregarded anything I had to say. I mean really?! Then when I returned to pick up my pants, I had to wait over 30 min for them to bring them out! What a waste! As for the quality of the hem, definitely mediocre and not worth the fake positive reviews this place has gotten. Did a quick google search to find a tailor open on Sunday that could do a quick alteration on some pants before New Year's Eve. Dropped them off at 10:30am and they were finished by 1:30pm. He did a fantastic job with the fit and it was just as I wanted. $20 for a hem and some tapering is a great price, especially that quickly. Had a bridesmaid dress taken in at the bodice and hemmed and was charged $45, also a zipper fully replaced on a pair of jeans for $12. William does quality work too. The place is not hard to find. Just drive to the back of the building and go through the entrance and it's the first door on your right. If I can find it, anyone can. I've used William the Tailor for about 2 years now. Every time I buy a new suit I take it to William because he always does an excellent job. When I pick a suit up after alteration and there is anything that needs adjusting, he always does it right there so I don't have to make another trip. I saw one reviewer saying they are rude at William, and the first time I went, I did think it was odd because William doesn't say much. Ok, he's a tailor, not an expert communicator. But if I need more information or if I want to make sure that he understood what I'm asking for, I just ask. If you are looking for someone to grovel at your feet, this is not the place for you. William clearly knows his craft and what I've found is that I don't usually have to say much other than whether I want cuffs or not on my suit trousers. I've also gone a few times when I need something the next day because I'm leaving on business and he gets it done for no extra charge. Last thing I want to mention is that his prices are pretty reasonable. Last time I bought a new suit and brought it in, it was only 40 bucks to have the waist let out, the pants hemmed at the bottom, and the jacket taken in. Not bad in my opinion. It only took about 10 minutes from the time I walked in the door for him to mark the suit and then I picked it up the next day. Definitely recommend! read more

I'm new in town, and recently bought some work clothes from Goodwill. Since most of the pants needed hemming, I decided to give William a try. I'm very pleased: I took three pair of dress pants, a dress shirt and a pair of jeans in on my lunch break and he said he would have them done by 4:30 (how many people do you have working back there??) The work pants were all tailored extremely well. I haven't worn the shirt yet, but he seems to have done a good job. My only disappointment (which is slight) is the jeans, which I requested to have hemmed with the original hem reattached. The hem job is great, but it's quite obvious that they hemmed in blue, then hemmed again just below that with gold thread matching the rest of the stitching. They also didn't trim the blue thread very well. It looks fine from far away, but is pretty obvious up close. Not a big deal, but I'll probably resume taking my jeans to Nordstrom for original hem reattaching. I didn't mind his manner at all: he was professional and measured quickly which was exactly what I needed on my lunch break. I also found them very affordable ~$60 for everything above. As other reviews mention: they are cash (or check) only. I was a little put off that they said their machine is broken: you don't need to lie to me - just say you only take cash. However, they called me that afternoon to let me know everything was ready, which was a nice courtesy. I didn't find the location/room difficult to find, butmaybe that's because I read all the Yelp reviews that mentioned him being at the back of the building. I'll definitely be back for all my work clothes tailoring needs. read more

I don't have a huge opinion about William's Tailor shop. They take care of my clothes, it's quick (although I've had a long delay before), and they aren't ruined when they come out. Prices are decent. Fairly average for what I'm used to but much better then a couple of tailors down the street on Westheimer. I'm not a huge fan that they NEVER accept credit cards. Cash or check ONLY. It's not the worst thing in the world. I just personally don't carry my checkbook or cash around on a regular basis, so it adds an extra thing I have to do to go pick up my clothes. read more

At their very best, they're decent, but only because their prices are a little cheaper ($10 for a hem, vs $12-15 elsewhere) even though I've had Multiple pants come back with different length legs and different width through the leg (right leg would fit fine, but my left leg wouldn't fit through the pants, for example. Fixing this would result in an unsightly seam, but at that point, you're just happy to have your poorly fitting pants back) At their worst, they're absolutely horrible. I was bringing them at least 20-25 pieces per year, and they've lost 1-2 per year, every year, for the last 3 years. Normally, I'd eventually get over it, but when you lose $150+ pants that are part of a relatively expensive suit, "sorry" doesn't cut it. This last time was the worst. I dropped 2 suit pants off on January 25, 2017, and was promised they'd be ready Feb 4th. For over 3 months they told 'come back tomorrow/next week' because the pants got "moved to storage." I'd call before driving to their shop and they'd tell me everything is ready, but upon arriving, they'd say, 'oh, we found the pants but they're not done' (Then why were they moved to storage??) Then, I'd come back a week later and the pants are mysteriously "still in storage". After 4 months of this nonsense, and well over 10 visits, they finally admitted that they lost my pants and agreed to send me a check, even though they were a cash-only business until very recently. Again, I'd call every week to follow up on the check but there's always an excuse. "Rent was just due (on the 24th of the month....?), "the power was out all week" (so??), etc. Even when they're not losing stuff or irreversibly messing up your garment, they're CONSISTENTLY behind/late. More than half the time, they'll tell you to come back tomorrow/next week. And half of those times, they're still not ready. Just pay the extra few dollars and go somewhere else that's professional and punctual. They're not worth the frustration and fuel that you'll spend from making multiple trips. read more

I may upgrade this one more star as i wear the jacket, but I'm hesitant. He quoted me $50 on the phone but I had a memory lapse in the office when he quoted $75 in person. I did get the work done but I feel like it was bait-and-switch. I don't expect the phone estimate to be perfect, but 50% higher is a but much. The work seems fine so far. It would have been helpful to be given a range on the phone so I didn't feel ripped off. Most people quote a range based on fabric choices, etc, but he said $50. read more

Thank you so much to the fine people at William The Tailor. Unlike other shops that advertise they open on Sundays, these folks actually do. I had a wedding at 4pm Sunday where I was the best man. The wedding party was fitted with suits and gowns. I picked up my suit Saturday night and to my horror, the shoulder padding was completely lopsided, I looked ridiculous. I knew I had to at least try to find someone to help me on a Sunday I finally found William at around noon Sunday, he completely dismantled and put my suit jacket back together the way it should of been done, the fit was perfect I picked up my jacket 2 hours after I dropped it off and got to the wedding with time to spare. The customer service was amazing, I never felt like I was risking anything. This is my new alterations spot. read more

So the good news was I found THE most gorgeous strapless high-low dress to wear to my party. The bad news? I'm a short, petite Asian girl, so overly-long dresses make me look like a total frump. #asiangirlprobz A friend of mine recommended William The Tailor for all my alteration needs. William is apparently well-known in the anime convention world and has often helped my cosplayer buddies bring crazy anime & video game costumes to life... anything less extreme than that is sure to be cake. As all the other reviewers have mentioned, this place is located inside a typical-looking white office building, so don't be alarmed -- drive around to the back of the building and you'll see a small neon "Alteration" sign next to the back door; once you're in the back door, the tiny shoppe will be on your right. William is a no-frills type of guy; in fact, you'll end up talking to his assistant (older Hispanic man) and receptionist more than you actually talk to him, which, trust me, can be pretty damn unnerving. After trying on my dress and explaining how short I wanted it hemmed, William briefly came out from his back office, stuck a few pins in the bottom skirt, told me he'd take care of it, then disappeared again. Was I really going to hand over my beautiful [and expensive] dress to this guy? A few days later, I came back to find the length exactly how I wanted it, but after noticing how loose the bodice was around my chest, I sheepishly asked if William would be able to tighten it within 2 days. Came back after 2 days and the dress was absolutely perfect -- the length was where I needed it to be and the bodice was nice and snug. Both procedures ran me $28. They prefer cash, but will take card if that's all you have. After two alterations and a week of dealing with my borderline-OCD nit-pickiness, I realized I had nothing to worry about. William may not be the chattiest guy, but you can trust him with your duds. He's efficient, he does great work, and his reputation surely proceeds him. read more

William is great! I had bought a Kenneth Cole Faux Leather Blazer, but overestimated my size. Couldn't return it because they were getting rid of the product (making room for the spring collection or something) and ran out of my actual size. It was 42R and I'm a 38 x.x I was afraid of getting it altered, because it wasn't a blazer's typical material. I searched for many tailors and heard a lot of good responses and Horror stories. I was sort of short on cash as well. I finally gave in to William the Tailor simply because it was near westheimer and I needed to go somewhere around there as well. The blazer had been sitting for over a month and needed to get altered! Its in an office building. You'll see a giant green awning with big letters stating the address 2323. Just keep waling down until you hit the back door. On your left you'll see his place. The experience was scary for me. I go in and he asks me what I want. I put on the blazer, telling him it needs to be tighter and have shorter sleeves. In less than a minute he whipped that ruler around and told me I could go and pick it up the next day. I was expecting more in depth measurements. The next day he finished it, but I had to go to work so i couldn't pick it up. but he kept his word! I went the next day to pick it up. Not only was it ready, but PERFECT! I highly recommend William. He definitely knows what he is doing, and is a nice guy. I also hear he does wonders with designer jeans! William might just be magical. I brought him a leather jacket that needed to be tightened and shortened, and he did an amazing job. In a week! Leather! When I saw the jacket after his work, I couldn't believe it; there were no signs of alteration whatsoever. Better yet, the fit is now perfect. Lots of tailors won't even touch leather. William was happy to do so, and the result was phenomenal. I imagine his more common alterations are equally as impressive, but especially if you need specialty work done, this is the place to go. read more

DONT GO! I took in 4 jackets over a month ago which needed zippers replaced, and he kept telling me to come back the next day to pick them up. After going back 4 times he told me he needed to order the zippers and to come back in a few days. I can back and they were still not done, and was told to come back again. I went about 8-9 times to pick up my stuff and it was never done. The last time I went in one morning and he said to come back between 2:30-3pm to pick them up and he promised they would be done. Well at 3:30 the jackets were still not done so I asked for my money back and the garments. The service was not good, not timely, and nothing special. I will never go back. read more
