We brought in my son's very inexpensive 3-piece Amazon suit that was WAY too big, and somehow, in just a short turnaround, he transformed it into something that looked like it came from a high-end boutique. My son wore it to his school's end of year dance and was absolutely beaming and he felt confident, stylish, and so proud of how he looked. The craftsmanship was flawless -- he didn't just tailor the suit to fit perfectly now, he even left extra fabric hidden inside the seams so we can let it out as my son grows. Weirdly polarizing reviews on here, so will weigh in with my personal experience. My wife referred me to Ismael when I needed a new pair of tux pants hemmed in a hurry. She had a fantastic story of his customer service, going above and beyond for her dress crisis, so I went in to give him a shot. He hemmed the pants in an hour and I think it was about $15. Man, this guy is so great! He basically runs the shop by himself and he does a damn good job. I brought in a pair of pants I needed hemmed that I didn't have time to do so myself (I do a lot of sewing) and he was able to get them finished in the short notice I gave him. Love it! When he hemmed them, he left enough fabric hidden underneath in the event that he might've done them too short and I wanted to lengthen them in the future. Although this was such an awesome idea, I won't need to do so because they're now the perfect length! I found this gem online, which had solid reviews. I had previously used a cleaners for alterations, but was dissatisfied and took several weeks to complete. The manager/owner really listened to what I needed, offered helpful suggestions and asked when I needed it done by. I requested the following day, and he explained he could have my pants altered THE SAME DAY!! WOW! I told him that a day turnaround was fine. Do NOT go to this place! I bought a sequin Zara jumpsuit to this place and everything was great, so I felt confident to go back. Well I was wrong I bought my 1000.00 Maggie Sottero wedding dress to have the train cut off, and NOT take up the front of the dress at all, and the bust area taken in. I was measured in my shoes and under garments that I am wearing with the dress. I came back a week later, and my dress was 4 inches TOO SHORT in the front. When I addressed Ishmial about it , he claimed he did NOT touch the front, but he could not tell why it was so short in the front. I also instructed him to keep the dress in the provided garment bag, and he did not have the bag, I had to go back the next day, and it had a huge hole in the bottom of it!!! Don't dare try and go here if something went wrong last minute and you need an alteration. I showed him my Maid of Honor dress: The zipper came undone while zipping it up the night before, so that needed fixing and I needed to let out the seam. There was no way eating like a bird would help me at less than 48 hrs before the wedding. He hurriedly told me there was no fabric and he couldn't let it out. He proceeded to hand me a sucker. Ironic much? He didn't even look inside the dress, just the outside. It was a J. Crew dress, and they include an extra 1/2 an inch on all dresses in case you need a little wiggle-room! I was so flustered by his response that I forgot that little detail. He also told me he could try and find a zipper but he would have to charge $20 for that and he miiight be able to have just that done by the next day at 3pm. I reluctantly left the dress there and drove down the road since I was trying squeeze this in and not be late to work. When my morning fog/sucker-daze cleared and I could think clearly again I called and told him I just remembered that 1/2" was included and to look inside. He said "No theres no fabric. Come pick up your dress I'm not helping you." Uh rude! I took it to Nhu on Shepherd instead who was very sweet and said she could do it all by noon tomorrow. Fingers crossed for Nhu! read more

Horrible experience! I brought my bridesmaid dress to get hemmed in the length and straps. I gave him a week to do it so it wouldn't be rushed. When I picked it up a week later, it fit fine. But then it goes downhill from there. First, he charged me $97 when all other 7 bridesmaids paid $50-$60 for the same exact thing at other places. But I paid the $97 without saying anything. Then I notice there are stains all over my dress. Looks like something spilled on it. And I know it wasn't me bc I have pictures of it before I had it hemmed and there are no stains on it. When I mentioned it to Ismail he started to get flustered and said he didn't touch it in the places where there are stains. He went on and on about how it was impossible that he did it. At that point I was getting frustrated and left. I brought the dress to my boyfriend and had him take control on the situation. First, he called Ismail acting as a new costumer inquiring about how much it would cost to have a formal gown hemmed. Ismail was rude to my boyfriend on the phone and even refused to tell him his name. So my boyfriend takes the dress to Ismail's shop trying to either get my money back or a discount. Ismail was rude and was YELLING at my boyfriend and was saying "I am older than you. I demand respect" my boyfriend then gets angry and tell him "he's taking advantage of people and ripping them off and ruin clothes. And that's not how you do business" Ismail then kicks my boyfriend out of the store. He is a bad business owner. He did not own up to the stains on my dress. Or even offer to pay for it to get dry cleaned. I have a bunch of friends who are in upcoming weddings and I told them to spread the word to NOT go to him or any of his other locations. read more

So, I had ordered a pair of jeans from Ebay and the seller failed to mention that she'd had the pants taken in by FOUR inches... So I yelped for alterations and seamstress. Yelp pulled up Expert One Hour Alterations in my local area to work. I took my jeans over there, he only charged me $25 to completely restore my jeans to their original state. He added matching denim to where they jeans had been cut in the waist area to take them in...(not even sure how or where he found matching denim at that, but glad he did). My jeans looked AWESOME as if I had just pulled them off of the rack!!! He gave me an ETA of about 3 days to complete the work. I went to pick up my jeans at the designated day/time, and they were all ready to go! I seriously recommend this place for any tailoring you need done to your garments. He's fast, professional, (handsome), has great customer service and does amazing work!!! Plus he gives you candy... and I love candy! read more

Great work, as well as timely. My only problem was I asked for my clothes by noon, and when I went in, they were not ready. All he had to do was let out the waist 1 inch and hem the bottoms. He asked me what time we agreed on. I said noon. He then told me "No, we agreed on later." Excuse me? That's not customer service. I took out my slip and showed him the box where HE wrote 12pm noon. He said he could have them done by 5pm. The work was done well. The pants feel and look great. However, while the time wasn't a big issue this time, I'm afraid of what will happen when time is an issue. read more

Ismail (i hope I smelled his name right) is an expert at what he does. I took in some some snowboarding pants, which are VERY difficult pants to alter, and I wanted them shortened and tightened around the thighs. I also NEEDED them the next day. Although he told me it would be a difficult job and he had lots of clothes to alter, he said he would have it done. AND he DID. He tightened them as much as they could be (snowboard pants have to be a little loose) and he shortened them perfectly. On top of that, he was very friendly. He gave me lollipops and offered me a soda both times I went in :) Good person, great work. Takes what he does seriously and works really hard. Highly recommended. read more

This place knows how to tailor your clothes and make it look great on you! The first time I had it altered, I went to their Katy location and had the owner tailor my suit in a few hours (I had a big interview that day). He did such a great job! My suit not only fits, but gave me the confidence boost I needed that day! He asked me what I wanted, and I told him honestly that I knew nothing about alterations. He then proceeded to tell me that he knew what to do, and he definitely did! I go to this alteration place now, because it's closest to me. The owner's son is the tailor for this store, and he is great as well! I recommended him to my hubby when he had an alteration mishap from another tailor and was very pleased with the results. Been getting work done here for years and Ismail is great. A lot of the bad reviews are about sticker shock, ask for the price before leaving and he will tell you (problem solved). If I'm in a bind he gets me a quick turn around which to me is worth a couple of extra dollars. read more

He replied "sometimes the alterations are worth more than the clothes" with a FU grin on his face (ie your clothes are cheap). I would give 0 stars if i could. I needed 4 items to be altered for my honeymoon and so I took it to Expert One Hour Alterations on Westheimer. It was a Monday and I leave for my trip on Thursday....so I figure it would be done on Monday since its a One Hour Alteration place. NOPE!!! He stated that it would not be done until Wednesday.....fine (things happen, it was my fault for waiting til the last minute) so when i arrived on Weds, two hours after pick-up time, they were still working on my dresses. I waited another 15 minutes. Worst Part: He only had 3 pieces done.....the last one wasn't even at the store. IT WAS AT HIS FATHERS HOUSE! Let me start off by saying that I have been using this alterations business for over a year. And, while a little pricey, they have always done very good work. Once, an item was not ready when promised but not a big deal; the quality overrode the fact the item was not ready. However, my recent experience (week of 6/1/2015) will be my last. I took two pairs of trousers to be taken in. I gave them a week as agreed to by Ishmial. A week later the trousers were not ready. I gave them another week and while they were ready, it was as if nothing had been done to them. I know I had not lost more weight in a week! Also, the alterations charge came to about $45 per trouser pair. Ridiculous!!! For this kind of service/quality I should just take to the local cleaners Definitely have lost a repeat customer. I took a pair of brand new Seven jeans to Ismail Alkhatib, the owner of this shop, to shorten with the original hem. The work he did was awful. Worse than awful, he spent a good bit of time trying to convince me otherwise, first by telling me how many years he had in the business, then by telling me that only he and I would notice and finally by explaining that lots of people buy jeans with holes in them. The hem was sewn about 1/2 an inch higher than the normal yellow thread at the hemline so the jean fabric looked like a ruffle or sewn in patchwork. The job was horrible and unwearable. I wouldn't trust your clothes to someone who does such lousy work and who doesn't realize his work is lousy. Oh, did I mention he hemmed one leg 3/4 of an inch shorter initially and when I brought them back, he told me that I didn't know what I was talking about...until he measured them. Ugh. read more

Love this place! I took a dress here that I needed last-minute alterations on for NYE as well as a pair of jeans to have hemmed. I brought in a lace dress with a pleated skirt and was not sure I would be able to find anyone who could alter it due to the delicate material and the pleating. He understood exactly what I wanted and did fantastic work. I got tons of compliments on the dress, and as someone who has some experience of my own with needlework I can definitely say that he did a very high quality and durable job. The jeans look amazing. He left the original hems (but is also able to create new ones if you prefer), so the jeans look like I bought them straight out of the store fitting me this perfectly. He also was wise enough to inquire about what type of shoe I planned to wear with the jeans and as a result, the length is absolutely perfect. Prices were definitely reasonable, especially considering the quality of work and the promptness of service. I will be back for more alterations soon. Tip: If it is a new garment that is likely to shrink with washing, then wash it BEFORE you have alterations done. This way you will end up with a perfect fit. read more

Ugh. My stomach hurts after reading all the negative reviews which seem to be the same thing each person is complaining about. First, I went in with 4 very simple maxi dresses for the summer, nothing too fancy. I asked a few times how much it would be and he kept dodging it, but asking if I wanted something to drink or how my day was going. I assumed he just didn't hear me. I tried on all the dresses and it it seemed to be I only really needed two inches off each dress. When he gave my yellow slip to leave, I asked again how much and he said $20/ dress. That would be $80 for 4 dresses that I needed two inches off of. I didn't even pay that much for each dress, as they came from zulily or rue21!! I negotiated to bring it down to $50 total. He gave me grief and was rude about it, but finally did it. After I left, I had a bad feeling because he didn't write the price down that we agreed to. So I got on yelp, and that's when I read all the awful reviews. I turned back around and went to pick my dresses up. He laughed in my face as he threw the pins all over the counter taking them out of the dresses. I was shaking! Ah. PLEASE DONT GO HERE! read more
