Took my dress in to get it fitted. I asked to pick it up the next day, I wasn't in a rush. It fits perfect now. The stitching could have been the same stitch pattern as the original, but I'm sure next time I can just ask for that. It was 34$ or something. read more

The owner did not give good customer service. She is the person who handled took the dress and handled my concern. I provided her my shirt dress size (4) which needed to be lengthened only. I removed the original hemline from the size 4 dress in order to cut down on time and cost. Another identical dress size (6) I also provided them so that the bottom section could be cut off and sewed onto the smaller dress. When I went back to pick it up the dress it had a weird look to the bottom hemline area. It was longer but not a comfy shirt dress anymore. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand they messed up. The owner blamed me for not trying it on. If you're keeping the look just adding a piece of fabric from a dress thats identical except for size. I don't need to try it in. My concern was why cut & sew the larger (6) bottom piece onto the smaller piece (4) and make it 1/2 " smaller ?! I didn't ask for it to be sized down. They cut the (6) smaller than the (4) which required further adjustments to the pocket and hip area of the size (4). Then to add insult to injury demanded I pay extra to fix their error. Needed the arm openings of a dress to be widened. She called this dropping the arms and she did a great job! The dress was mesh with a ton of embroidery and not easy to match to any other fabric. I was in no rush and asked to have it back within a week. It was done two days early. Not sure of the rush pricing to have something done within the hour but I recommend dropping things off earlier if possible. read more

Bought a tuxedo that fit okay but not great, so I decided to tailor it to fit perfectly. I was very careful about picking a tailor because I wanted this handled well. A trusted friend recommended this place. It had pretty good reviews, so I decided to go for it! First of all the woman who runs this place is famous for being fast with her alterations. I have to agree with that statement. I gave her the tux, and she had it ready within a few days. The sleeves needed a little more altering, so I left it with her again. She had them ready in two more days. I wasn't in a huge rush, so I felt that the service was definitely quick. I was happy with the finished product. The tux fit well everywhere, and I wore it proudly. The only downside was the price. This was the first time I've had a tux tailored, so I'm not sure what the going rate is. However, I felt that it was a little too pricey based on the small amount of alterations that were needed. Also I was charged for the additional changes to the sleeves, but I feel that should have been included in the original cost. I recently inherited a coat that belonged to my great grandfather, which is amazing! I'm a smaller guy, so it was pretty big on me and I needed to get alterations done to make it fit. I took it to one tailor and he pretty much laughed me out of his shop. He wasn't laughing exactly, but I could tell there was no way he thought it was possible to make the alterations I needed, since he kept saying stuff like: "Look at how big the sleeves are," "you might as well spend the money to buy a new coat," etc. I took it to A One Hour Alterations for a second opinion because they had done work for me before (I live further away now). For A One Hour Alterations, altering the coat was no problem at all. Within ten minutes, they measured me, pinned the coat, and sent me on my way. A week later I got it back and it looked great! Drove 20 minutes here and she told me $10 on the phone then when I got there she said she didn't understand that I wanted a curtain sewed and as she was looking she started entering my information then said ohhhh it's gonna be $20 and just tried to have me use a service without charging me what we agreed on. This place will ALWAYS AND FOREVER be my alteration shop. My daughter had a cheer competition and the two top pieces of her uniform completely disappeared from our home, couldn't find it anywhere, only the skirt and undershorts. After placing this info in our group chat, one of the moms, of a girl who had left the team, said I could have her daughter's. Her daughter is in 5th, normal weight snd height, my daughter is in 2nd grade, and very petite. The uniform would have to literally be cut in half. I brought in the two cheer tops to Kim, plus my daughter's original skirt because it had always been too big anyway. It was 3 days before the next competition and I would not be able to bring my daughter in for a fitting. I gave Kim one of my daughter's dresses for the preferred bodice fit of the cheer top, an old uniform skirt for the preferred skirt fit, and a pajama top for the half undershirt fit (which I realized I not only forgot to include in the bag, but also gave her a short-sleeved example instead of a long-sleeved one. This is where Kim's expertise came in. With NO ARM LENGTH MEASUREMENTS, she still was able to perfectly guess my daughter's length. And because I had forgot the top, it pushed back the time she could start in it. She finally had everything by Thursday morning and I needed it by Friday evening. Competition was early Saturday morning. I called on Friday from work around 2:00 and Kim said she had not started and the pajama top needed to be long-sleeve so she could see how long/short the shell needed to be. I began to panic. I had to go to my daughter's parent preview that evening at 5:00, and then attend a New Edition concert with my husband at 7. The shop closes at 6:30. I explained this in my panic and she said don't worry I will have it done by then. She called me an hour later and said I could pick it up! The uniform fit perfect! They are the absolute best here!!! I took a bridesmaids dress here to get altered in November. I needed the top let out and the bottom hemmed. They said it would be no problem at all. When I picked it up to try on, it didn't have a claps on it, and the top was not let out. They had only hemmed it. I told her I could come back and get the dress but it would not fit without being let out. She said she could fix it right then by putting a big claps on the back. Low and behold it didn't end up fitting right and fell down the whole time I was at the wedding. She charged me the same price even though they didn't do what I had wanted and argued with me about it. Getting a hem and a new claps wasn't worth $70, let me tell you. read more

Went here to get alterations for a bridesmaid dress. I had two weeks, so I told them that I did not need it done right away-- although they said they could do it within one hour. I mostly needed the dress to be taken out (Ok yes I like to eat), and shortened a little; because I want to enjoy myself with short heels not stilettos AMIRIGHT? They have 2 dressing rooms to change in, which was fine with me. I was waiting on a girl getting her wedding dress altered (always a good sign). I got my dress back in a great amount of time and it was 30 dollars (practical in my opinion). I'd go back again, and I'd recommend this place to others. The hemming looks clean and the dress which was (somewhat cheap to begin with), looked like it was made for me. This is a great place in a rather expensive area, which is hard to find. read more

I just picked up 3 skirts that needed to be tailored. The work done was terrible. The skirts didn't fit right. Their solution to the bad job was to move the button over but it bunched up the skirt... I have two dapper looking sweaters that I absolutely love that were too baggy on me. I am a slim guy and I wanted the sweaters to fit my frame better. So I brought both sweaters to One Hour Alteration, and they worked their sewing magic. I came in to get the zipper on a pair of jeans fixed and get a new tank top hemmed. The tank had long slits on the side and I specifically told the seamstress to take up the front flap, so the tank was longer in the back and shorter in the front (I bought the tank to wear with flowy wide-leg cotton pants and the long front made my legs look too short). Anyways, I explained to the seamstress twice that I just wanted the front to be 1/2 the length of the back, and to leave the back the same length. She claims to understand but doesn't take any notes on what I'm saying. I dropped off these items last Wednesday and pick them up Friday. When I come Friday the jeans are fine but the tank isn't what I asked for. Not only did she shorten both front and the back, now the back is even shorter than the front! The complete opposite of what I want. When I tell her this isn't what I asked for she tell me yes it is. I ask why isn't the front shorter than the back and she remains silent. I try on the top and just shake my head. When I tell her this is all wrong she starts laughing. To which I say nothing and just stare at her. I'm not sure what was so funny but I don't find humor in completely ruining my blouse. Completely unprofessional. I can't even wear the tank with the pants I bought because it just looks awkward. She did not charge me for the hemming but my first and last experience was not great. I won't be going back. Luckily for me it was just a tank top but If you need a serious alteration I would go somewhere else. read more
