The owner, Cuong, told me they can clean silk, I dropped off a $1000 silk top and this cleaner absolutely destroyed it. It was returned dull, rough, and crunchy. The silk top is irreparable. He apologized and said he'd reimburse me if I brought the receipt so I did, and then he refused to do so. Do not bring anything of value here. I'm beyond disappointed. read more

Great spot for a last minute bridesmaid dress hemming. Was able to drop off and pick up in ~36 hours, but I bet a 24-hour turnaround could also be possible given how efficiently they work. I have brought work pants here in the past and gotten them hemmed too. Pricing is a little pricier than I'd expected, hence the four stars, but everything else is great. read more

Service was great! Had pants and shirt done here. Worth going here even if you have travel. Would rate more stars if I could.

I bought my two piece wedding dress off the rack and both pieces were 3x larger than my size. The skirt also had many delicate layers so most places quoted me super high prices. Star Tailor charged me a fraction of what others were asking for & was able to get my tailoring done within less than two weeks. I loved the results - I can't recommend this place enough! In fact, my little sister will be coming here to do her wedding dress tailoring too! read more

Always A+ service with a quick turn around !! I've recommended all my friends to them.

Brought in a pair of work pants to take in the waist. They were ready in a few days at a reasonable price ($20). Fit nicely for business trip the following week. Will be bringing all my other potato bag pants. Thank you. read more

I am always impressed with the quality and quick turnaround time for my alterations- and the service is very friendly.

I used them for dry cleaning so my review is just of their dry cleaning services. They didn't lose anything. Some very dirty jackets were very clean after they serviced them. And their price was reasonable. Not excellent pricing, but reasonable. They didn't appear to press the clothing (men's suit pants and jackets, as well as women's overcoats) so the clothes looked cleaned but not what you would expect from a dry cleaner. read more

I came in needing a rushed alteration and they did a great job! My pants were ready on time and fit perfectly. I will definitely be coming back here! They are quick, efficient, and well priced read more

I went in to have a pair of slacks hemmed and a top adjusted as the straps were too long. The pants hem cost $20. The adjustment (shorten) straps on the top cost $10. However, when I got the top and tried it on at home the straps were STILL too long. They didn't account for the fact that I had already tightened the straps the highest point and now I have to take it back to be fixed. Kind of annoying as I had it adjusted for a trip and won't be able to wear it still read more

absolute worst tailor i've ever been to. This guy ruined a $2000 suit and a dress shirt. Suit jacket has weird creases and buttons don't line up. Shit has weird poof on side. The majority of 5 star reviews seem to be posted by friends or family. I don't even trust them enough to take the suit back and try to fix it. Avoid at all cost. read more

I love coming here to Star Tailor & Alterations. He is always super fast and nice. He also listens to what you want and deliver a high quality! read more

Came to get a bridesmaid dress hemmed - Star tailor provided great service at a competitive price. I will definitely be bringing more clothing here for alterations! read more

Cuong is awesome! He was very attentive to all my concerns and made me feel heard. I got two pairs of pants hemmed. They were $20 to hem each ($40 total). He did the invisible stitching at the bottom and they came out perfectly. I'll be bringing more items here in the future! read more

Mr Nguyen did it again! His perfect tailor ship as well as efficiency and also super friendly attitude. Look at my pink suit he tailored, it is perfect!! Thank you so much, 10/10 would recommend!! read more

I've been using star tailor for years. He's very nice, quick, affordable, and does a great job every time

So I just took in 3 dresses and a blazer to Star Tailor on a Saturday, and the clothes were ready for pickup on Tuesday. (All of the items essentially had to be taken a size down.) This man is an artist! My clothes came out beautifully, perfect sizing, and you can tell that he truly puts hard work into your clothes. The prices were extremely reasonable too. This will be the only tailor I go to in Houston from now on! read more

I had a bridesmaid dress that needed to be altered and I decided to bring it here since my bf had taken his suit here before to get altered and it only cost $50. I got my dress back and I was a little disappointed, the way he sewed the dress back up made it look really deformed. When I put the dress on you can see that the side that was altered doesn't look the same as the other side. Also my dress had buttons on both side but I guess he had to take the buttons off to alter the dress, so the dress was left with one side with buttons and the other side no buttons. He did do a good job on the hem on the dress when he shortened it. So only bring in easy altering jobs here or risk the chance of it being screwed up. Cost to make the dress tighter and shorter = $50 read more

The customer service was incredible. The man who helped me was nice and quick with the pinning. I was able to pick up within two days and everything fit perfect. I altered two pairs of pants and was very affordable. Would recommend to anyone. read more

First time getting my pants tailored and I had a great experience! Cuong was attentive and made sure they were at the length I wanted. Turnaround time was great I received my pants within 3 days. Everything fit and looks great! Definitely coming back. read more

I am so incredibly pleased with the quality, price and customer service (a rare trio these days!) at Star Tailor. I have had several dress pants and tops hemmed. Regardless if the job is big or small, I am always treated with the same quality customer service and importance. They have landed me as a lifelong customer! read more

I have to echo what most people have said -- this is a great little shop! I brought in a suit to have altered... the jacket needed taken in, and the pants needed hemmed. The tailor put some pins in and seemed to know instantly what to do. He told me to come back in two days. I did, and everything fits perfectly. And the cost was less than $40 combined! Accuracy, friendliness and great value. A winner if you need alterations! read more

30 dollars to fix a pair of jeans but they did it in less than 24 hours and it was a good job

Very fast and produced quality work. He did a great job lengthening the straps on my dress so that the alteration was barely noticeable!

I called around to find a tailor to fix the zipper on my waist trainer. Three businesses said no. I drove to Star, he took a look and had it ready quickly. The shop is clean and the owner is pleasant. I will definitely use Star again. read more

Sent a pair of slacks in to have a couple of inches taken off. I was able to pick it up the following day. Great customer service and decent prices for alterations. read more

This man restores my faith in humanity. I was worried to look for a place to alter my dress. My friend recently got a wedding dress for $500 and spent another $500 for alterations. It also took over 2 months to get done altering. Then, I used the Yelp function to ask for a quote at a couple places with pictures of my dress for an estimate (I love this function btw). Mr. Nguyen got back to me in about an hour with the lowest price and he told me to come in anytime without an appointment. The next day, I came in and he was very nice and warm. He told me to put it on and pin the parts that he would take in. However, I pointed out to him that it may stretch the dress sideway and that doesn't look good. He came up with a different way and offered a price that was lower than the estimate. Four days later, I came in to pick it up after work and it was still a little big. Mr. Nguyen said I can come back the next morning, he will have it fixed. At the end, it turned out the way I wanted. I'm very happy with his service. I'd recommend him to my friends and family. read more

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! I bought a lined jacket that was 2 sizes too big and needed it taken in at the sides. I requested quotes from multiple places -- and some of them told me that the cost would exceed the price of the actual jacket. Mr. Nguyen came back to me with the lowest quote, which was $25. I was skeptical at first but I went to see him anyway. He clipped the jacket while I tried it on and then told me that it would take ~4 days. I came back the following week, and the jacket was perfect (fit beautifully and the seams were very clean). It was also less than the quoted price: I ended up paying just a little over 20 dollars! I'm definitely going to come back to get my suit tailored for interviews as well! PS - The place is in a strip mall area, so parking shouldn't be a problem. Check it out! read more

I love how every time I come here, it's the same man and he's so sweet and calm. He's done a few pieces for me and they've all been pretty good (obviously if I keep coming back) lol he's cheaper than the other tailor I've been to in houston but still a bit pricey compared to what I've paid in Los Angeles. Regardless, I think if you need some basic tailoring and dry cleaning, this is the perfect place! read more

I stopped in today because I needed measurements for a gown I was ordering. He was so helpful and did them for me quick with no questions! It was a great experience! read more

The owner was friendly accommodating and got my emergency alteration done in 1 day. The suit was a slimmer fit suit with little room in the pants to let out, but he did a great job. I recommend giving this establishment a shot at your business. read more

Mr. Nguyen did a great job hemming my pants and taking in my coat! Everything was reasonably priced and he was able to get all of my stuff in two days. I will be back! read more

Not one bad thing to say...really! I was prompted to write this review because he helped me out in a HUGE emergency! I had a wedding I was in and the morning of, the strap on my dress was torn...right out of the dress (don't ask how). Anyway, on a whim drove here because I had been a customer a number of times. He was there! At 8 in the morning! He said he could have it fixed in an hour, no problem! I was there an hour later and my dress was in perfect condition, and at only 5$! I have also brought in slacks, jeans, and even a couple blouses for tailoring and he has never disappointed! Very friendly and very quick! People always say everyone should have a good tailor....well, look no further! You have found the one! read more

Fast, efficient, and friendly - Star Tailor is the one of the unsung heroes of the tailoring community. The simplicity of the place is disarming when you walk in - nothing about this place screams remarkable in any way, shape, or form. The Chinese Man who runs this little slice of fabric adjustment heaven is very quiet when he first meets you, which makes use of Star Tailor something similar to dating a shy person - you have a lot of work to do to uncover just awesome this relationship is going to be. My first impression of this place many years ago was a bizarre one, as blaring from the computer was some sort of Chinese pop radio over a streaming station - and the proprietor was in the back, on the sewing something or another. From jackets to hems, from getting that zipper replaced in that old pair of jeans your significant other would much rather have you destroy or recycle, Star Tailor can do just about anything. Recently, having received a series of suits from a WWII vet who, sadly, passed away, but whose suits all fit exactingly well except the length of the pants (and all of superb tailoring from Europe) it was a quick visit to Star Tailor and $50 later I had a series of new wardrobe additions ready to rock. Star Tailor also does dry cleaning, but don't bother him with the "in by 9 out by 5" nonsense because, quite frankly, he opens at 9 and he is gone by 6 - your window with which to partake of his genius is limited, but the wait is well worth it. He proudly displays that he uses Mitsubishi equipment in the cleaning and tailoring process (a fact you will see by the huge tri-diamond logo on the door) so if by chance you are some sort of "brand loyal" type when it comes to the mechanics of how your fashion is fondled, then this will please you. He's very calm and unassuming, and he's all business until you are a regular. Adjustments to dry clean, and tailoring with care, Star Tailor is a fun find nestled right next to D&S Laundry. read more

I am a big believer in tailored clothing and Star Tailor does a fantastic job. Every piece I have brought in there including a gifted coat that was much too large has been tailored to perfection. In addition, Star Tailor has next day service and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this hidden gem. read more

I had a very mixed experience from this place. came here from the yelp search. at first I was happy cuz the owner was very nice, and the price was reasonable. but the the frustration starts from the moment I saw how my dress turned out. my dress was out of it's original shape completely. the useless me decided to just accept it since he tried to convince me that it looks ok. plus his kid was doing hw there and looking all innocent, so I tired not to be a jerk. but I found a whole on the neckline when I got home.. ugh, so I called, he apologized and told me to drop it over again. so I did, but it couldn't be fixed at the same day, so we made a total of 3 "round trips" just for this dress. the worst part? we live an hour and half away from Houston. ya. me and my bf do visit Houston every other weekend. but for fun and good food, not for this. the dress after all turned out ok, if I don't look into details ( rough stitches). i don't think I will be back to this place, but I apprieciate the owner's nice attitude. if you have a simple job like altering length type, I do recommend this place. read more
