The owner, Cuong, told me they can clean silk, I dropped off a $1000 silk top and this cleaner absolutely destroyed it. It was returned dull, rough, and crunchy. The silk top is irreparable. He apologized and said he'd reimburse me if I brought the receipt so I did, and then he refused to do so. Do not bring anything of value here. I'm beyond disappointed. read more

Great spot for a last minute bridesmaid dress hemming. Was able to drop off and pick up in ~36 hours, but I bet a 24-hour turnaround could also be possible given how efficiently they work. I used them for dry cleaning so my review is just of their dry cleaning services. They didn't lose anything. Some very dirty jackets were very clean after they serviced them. And their price was reasonable. Not excellent pricing, but reasonable. They didn't appear to press the clothing (men's suit pants and jackets, as well as women's overcoats) so the clothes looked cleaned but not what you would expect from a dry cleaner. read more

I went in to have a pair of slacks hemmed and a top adjusted as the straps were too long. The pants hem cost $20. The adjustment (shorten) straps on the top cost $10. However, when I got the top and tried it on at home the straps were STILL too long. They didn't account for the fact that I had already tightened the straps the highest point and now I have to take it back to be fixed. So I just took in 3 dresses and a blazer to Star Tailor on a Saturday, and the clothes were ready for pickup on Tuesday. (All of the items essentially had to be taken a size down.) This man is an artist! My clothes came out beautifully, perfect sizing, and you can tell that he truly puts hard work into your clothes. The prices were extremely reasonable too. I had a bridesmaid dress that needed to be altered and I decided to bring it here since my bf had taken his suit here before to get altered and it only cost $50. I got my dress back and I was a little disappointed, the way he sewed the dress back up made it look really deformed. When I put the dress on you can see that the side that was altered doesn't look the same as the other side. Also my dress had buttons on both side but I guess he had to take the buttons off to alter the dress, so the dress was left with one side with buttons and the other side no buttons. He did do a good job on the hem on the dress when he shortened it. So only bring in easy altering jobs here or risk the chance of it being screwed up. Cost to make the dress tighter and shorter = $50 read more

This man restores my faith in humanity. I was worried to look for a place to alter my dress. My friend recently got a wedding dress for $500 and spent another $500 for alterations. It also took over 2 months to get done altering. Then, I used the Yelp function to ask for a quote at a couple places with pictures of my dress for an estimate (I love this function btw). Mr. Nguyen got back to me in about an hour with the lowest price and he told me to come in anytime without an appointment. The next day, I came in and he was very nice and warm. He told me to put it on and pin the parts that he would take in. However, I pointed out to him that it may stretch the dress sideway and that doesn't look good. He came up with a different way and offered a price that was lower than the estimate. Four days later, I came in to pick it up after work and it was still a little big. Mr. Nguyen said I can come back the next morning, he will have it fixed. At the end, it turned out the way I wanted. I'm very happy with his service. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! I bought a lined jacket that was 2 sizes too big and needed it taken in at the sides. I requested quotes from multiple places -- and some of them told me that the cost would exceed the price of the actual jacket. Mr. Nguyen came back to me with the lowest quote, which was $25. I was skeptical at first but I went to see him anyway. He clipped the jacket while I tried it on and then told me that it would take ~4 days. I came back the following week, and the jacket was perfect (fit beautifully and the seams were very clean). It was also less than the quoted price: I ended up paying just a little over 20 dollars! I had a wedding I was in and the morning of, the strap on my dress was torn...right out of the dress (don't ask how). Anyway, on a whim drove here because I had been a customer a number of times. He was there! At 8 in the morning! He said he could have it fixed in an hour, no problem! I was there an hour later and my dress was in perfect condition, and at only 5$! Fast, efficient, and friendly - Star Tailor is the one of the unsung heroes of the tailoring community. The simplicity of the place is disarming when you walk in - nothing about this place screams remarkable in any way, shape, or form. The Chinese Man who runs this little slice of fabric adjustment heaven is very quiet when he first meets you, which makes use of Star Tailor something similar to dating a shy person - you have a lot of work to do to uncover just awesome this relationship is going to be. My first impression of this place many years ago was a bizarre one, as blaring from the computer was some sort of Chinese pop radio over a streaming station - and the proprietor was in the back, on the sewing something or another. From jackets to hems, from getting that zipper replaced in that old pair of jeans your significant other would much rather have you destroy or recycle, Star Tailor can do just about anything. Recently, having received a series of suits from a WWII vet who, sadly, passed away, but whose suits all fit exactingly well except the length of the pants (and all of superb tailoring from Europe) it was a quick visit to Star Tailor and $50 later I had a series of new wardrobe additions ready to rock. Star Tailor also does dry cleaning, but don't bother him with the "in by 9 out by 5" nonsense because, quite frankly, he opens at 9 and he is gone by 6 - your window with which to partake of his genius is limited, but the wait is well worth it. He proudly displays that he uses Mitsubishi equipment in the cleaning and tailoring process (a fact you will see by the huge tri-diamond logo on the door) so if by chance you are some sort of "brand loyal" type when it comes to the mechanics of how your fashion is fondled, then this will please you. He's very calm and unassuming, and he's all business until you are a regular.
