My queen sized comforter wouldn't fit in the washer that I have in my apartment, so I found this place! I was expecting to spend about a $1.25 for washing and drying a piece, but it ended up being about $5.00 which isn't terrible. Just make sure you bring some cash. When you walk in, there's a window to the right with someone who will help you if you want their services. They offer dry cleaning and shirt laundering as well as a service to wash your comforters and blankets. They don't have a quarter machine, but the person behind the window will gladly help you with your change. There are three different sized washers: small load, double, and triple. Small load is $2, double is $3.75, and a triple is $4.50. The dryers charge 25¢ per 5 minutes. They're huge so you could absolutely put two-three loads of laundry in one dryer. If you don't want to wait for your laundry in the laundromat, there's a coffee shop directly adjacent to the place that you can wait at! read more

Such a wonderful little neighborhood laundromat/wash-and-fold. ...Meaning you can DIY or just drop it off. I've been here twice already, and both times I've left beyond satisfied. I bring my black linens here, the ones that many of you yelpers see at my rockin' Yelp events. I drop them off (15 to 20 of 'em), the friendly senorita hands me a ticket, and I pick them up the next day; I also pay upon pickup. AND, she's given me a 20% discount just 'cause. Definitely not necessary since Graustark Laundry is mind-blowing affordable, but I did appreciate it. (I think my 20 linens came to about $50.) The older lady prefers to speak Spanish, but both times I've been there her son was there to assist with other customers. And they have two ADORABLE English Bulldogs onsite, just hanging out being cute. Gotta respect animal-lovin' people. I've come to this place twice in need of washing a bunch of clothes quickly. No drying. Just some rugs and things that would normally take me 3-4 loads at home. Both times I've been turned away because they would be closing "soon". The first time was 2 hours prior to the advertised closing time. This time, I arrived at around 7:15 and was told the last wash was 6:30 despite the website stating 8:00pm. Be consistent to those who choose to continue going there. I won't. read more

Equipment is definitely retro but still functions at a decent price ($2 to wash a small load, $.25 for 5 minutes in the dryer). I was visiting a family member in an assisted living facility nearby and needed to do a couple of loads of laundry. This place was located conveniently near the hotel where I was staying. I was somewhat disappointed in the condition of the facility. Of 22 washing machines only 12 were functional (the other 10 had sticky notes on them or the lids were taped shut); of 12 dryers only 4 were functional and only 2 were open for use. The sink in the facility had soap but no paper towels; the toilet worked but there was no light in that little room. The folding counters were clean, however. read more

We've been here a couple of times for dry cleaning and they're just bad. Poor quality of ironing with wrinkles and folds so deep and bad that you can't even wear them so you spend time back at home to redo them. They actually gave me back a shirt that wasnt even mine - which I only detected a week after. When I drove back to drop off the shirt, I only got a nasty comment on why it took me a week to come back to return a shirt that wasn't mine. No excuse or anything. Overall not friendly or good quality service. Only pro about this place is a nice coffee house next door! read more

I loved this laundry spot for its retro vibe and especially for the super cool coffee shop, Black Hole, next door where you can chill while waiting for your clothes...but after my most recent visit they lost my service. I finished tutoring at 7:15, and rushed over to wash before they close at 9pm. By the time I got there it was 8 (when you can wash your last load), so I asked the Hispanic woman who was working there (not being racist, didn't get her name), if I had time to wash one load. She said yes without hesitation. So I take note, as always, of the time it will take to wash (25 min.) I had to treat some stains on a few items so it was 8:10 when I got all the clothes in the washing machine (I'm keeping track because I want to make sure they'll be done by 9) and I go over to sit at Black Hole to wait. When I go back at 8:38, the employee comes up to me as I'm putting the clothes in the dryer and tells me in an unfriendly voice that she's closing at 9. I understood she wanted to get out of there but I gently reminded her that I asked her specifically if I had enough time to wash my load. Her response was that she saw my clothes had finished washing, what she claimed to be, 10 minutes ago and that if I had returned at the exact time the clothes were finished then I would have had enough time...... I didn't know what else to say so I ended up taking my clothes out before the drying cycle I paid for had ended, and had to finish drying my clothes somewhere else. read more

Last week I went and the lady working there was very kind and let me use the bathroom. The other lady always has the bathroom closed. Most of the machines do not work and those that do have very LITTLE water, i mean very LITTLE so the clothes is still dirty even when the cycle is over, it is a waste of my time and money because they are expensive. Only 4 dryers work, absolutely ridiculous, i wish I have known this before I put my money on this old, not working machines. if you can't keep up with the maintenance of your business you better shut it down and stop ripping people off. read more

I come here to wash large items like bedding and usually use the industrial size machines, but they're pricey, $4.50 a load. Mostly OLD washers and dryers. 1/2 the new washers don't work. The place is old and run down. The washers and dryers are mismatched. The place is really small. No seating area. Customers are standing around on top of each other. They only take coins. You can buy coins with a debit card however. The last wash is at 6:30pm. The place just needs a complete overhaul. The business owner needs to invest in new matching washers and dryers and remodeling. Disorganized, broken, unkept. The place is just sad. read more

Terrible just terrible, machines don't spin well leaves clothes very wet. The laundry attended lady used up most of the dryers and leaves the clothes in there I guess so customers won't take them which is pathetic. 6/12/2013 Graustark Laundry is without a doubt one of the best full service laundry/dry cleaner in town. I have been a customer for over 6 months and use their services weekly without any challenges. Same day and next day service available. Clothes always neatly folded and bagged. Shirts, slacks, jeans and shorts always hung neatly on hangers and then bagged. What more could one ask for. Professional, friendly, accurate services. I highly recommend them. Updated review 2/26/2014: After having used Graustark Laundry for the past 7 months with several small easily resolved hiccups, we finally hit the bump in the road. I sent over a fine lambs wool king size blanket to be cleaned. The blanket was less than 6 months old and just needed to be freshened up. Blanket ended up getting washed in HOT water and then dried. Thus transforming the blanket into something that would barely fit a twin size bed. After speaking with the owner (Al) regarding the issue, I asked if he would have the blanket re-blocked. I asked this as an alternative to replacement so as minimize the impact to his business due to the cost of the blanket. However, Al later informed me that the damage was far beyond blocking. Al assured me that he would make this matter right and offered to issue a check for the replacement of the blanket. I am ever so appreciative of his generosity. However, when I received the check in the mail it was accompanied by a letter expressing that my laundry was of a finer quality than they are used to dealing with. With that being said, at this point Graustark Laundry would NO LONGER be able to accept any more laundry from me because his employees were uncomfortable in handling it. The letter further went on to mention that all damaged items were deducted from the responsible employee's pay. I went back and reviewed emails dated only two weeks prior to the letter to and from Al discussing this matter and he mentions how much he appreciates my business and my being a loyal customer. He further mentions how he would hate for this incident to tarnish our relationship. Somehow in the time frame of several weeks something changed and he felt the need to terminate our relationship. If Al had just come to me and discussed the matter further I feel confident that we could have come to a mutual agreement. I valued the services and convenience received from his laundry more than the $300 blanket. I considered myself to be a loyal and reasonable customer providing Graustark with a monthly average of $500 in business. This whole ordeal is disturbing and disappointing. Hopefully, this is an isolated experience and existing as well as future customers will not experience the same unfortunate incident. read more

(I've been back in Houston for a while now and though I've frequented many review-worthy places since, I come out of my Yelp hiatus to review Graustark Laundry.) You know how George Costanza decides to have a "summer of George" and lounges around in his boxers eating a block of cheese? Every weekend, that's me. (Well, save for the boxers. Girls don't wear boxers.) But the idea, people! Sitting around, eating cheese in dirty apartment, etc. But alas, one cannot have a summer of George every day. One has to go to work. Pay bills. DO LAUNDRY (ugh) This is where GL comes in. They make doing such a tedious, boring task pleasant. For one, they are dog friendly! Bringing the dog lessens my boredom as he provides something to boss around while I de-stinkify my clothes. The machines are reliable and since we go early Sunday mornings, there's never a wait for the dryers. Also, it's nice and cool inside.
