I've done laundry here a few times and recently tried the wash-and-fold. Their prices are competitive ($0.95/lb for wash-and-fold, $1.50/load for DIY), and the service great. They had my laundry done in two hours, and everything was perfectly folded or hung up on hangers. They even rubber-banded together socks, underwear and t-shirts into separate, folded stacks. Black Hole, a coffee shop, is right next door. It's a neat spot to peruse a book or plug in your laptop (free wi-fi) while you wait on your clothes. Graustark Laundry also helps re-home bulldogs and by the vending machines they post photos adoptable animals. If your pet is well-behaved and leashed you can take it inside with you. read more

After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to give Graustarks Wash & Fold service a try. The location is convenient for me to drop off my clothes on the way to work at 8 and pick them up on the way home at 5 (though my clothes are usually finished way before then). The woman that takes my clothes is always really nice. My clothes always come out perfect and I highly recommend it for others who don't want to deal with the hassle of laundry. read more

I've sampled wash-and-fold joints from New York City to Orange County, but Graustark blows them all away. They did my wash for nearly four years while I lived around the corner. My laundry was always ready on time and was served up in my own laundry basket that now bears a name tag thanks to the GL. Some shirts and pants get hung depending on the material. Yes, they actually listen when you say, "Do NOT put this in the dryer, please." Everything smells great, too. You can always do it yourself if funds are super tight and you have loads of time. I have been coming here for years now and only recently has this place gone down hill. Before I give my negative comments I do want to say the ladies that work here are great and always friendly and nice. The problem is the machines are always broken (frequently the dryers) and the place is pretty dirty and sometimes smells. It just seems like they are not keeping up with it anymore. They do have some new high efficiency machines which are great I will say. Their wash and fold service is great and adorable too. Friendly staff, quick service and clean clothes! What more can you ask for? I only do my laundry a couple times a month and it's usually around $40. The amount that I take fills up a huge laundry bag and for another cleaner the price would be $55 for the same bag of laundry. This is for the wash and fold/hang-up service. read more

I LOVE Graustark Laundry. If the cartoon style paintings of 90's sitcom stars painted on the outside are not enough... ...the wash and fold service should be! At only $0.79 per pound, this place won my heart immediately. No longer do I sit and wait and watch the water turn. No more heavy pockets full of quarters. Hell, I don't even fold my own clothes! Let me say first that I tried to submit this comment directly thru the company website, but it would not work. So here I am, hoping they will read this. I decided to come to your laundromat today because it is closer to my house than the one I normally go to, and I was short on time. Just needed to wash a bedspread. I used one of the large machines, and put in only about a tablespoon of dry soap because I know people typically use too laundry soap. I came back to check the machine at the second wash. You really need to clean your machines better. There was as much soap in the machine as there had been during the wash cycle. This is the last time I will be using your laundromat. I wasted gas and money. And have a bedspread that probably has more soap in it than before I washed it. read more

I dread the trip to the laundromat. Not just because I feel "icky" using the same machines as everyone else (and potentially their dog). I also don't like the way my pocket starts weighing less and less as the machines swallow my quarters... BUT, this place was alright. It's a bit smaller than other laundromats I've crawled into, but if you go at the right time you won't have to fight anyone for a machine. I enjoyed the fact that there were large expensive washers, and then the cheaper smaller machines that I prefer. Even if you spread out your clothes over multiple smaller machines, still cheaper and they do a fine job with the wash. Also liked the control that the quarter-by-quarter dryer gave me. I haven't ventured into the wash-and-fold drop off deal, but that's just my cheap side that thinks waiting there is worth the money I would otherwise lose. read more

So I will never come here again. The lady that works there took my clothes out of the dryer even with them still damp. I have a little 7 month old baby and I live 2 minutes away so I drive back and forth and occasionally walk depending on him. He was napping in his carseat so I left my car on just to gi get my laundry to find it spread out in the laundry mat and still damp. I don't like strangers touching my belonging and not knowing who is touching them and them leaving them around just for anyone to get. read more

The best thing Graustark Laundry has going for them is location: they're next door to Black Hole, so you can grab a cuppa joe and use their wifi while waiting for your stuff to finish. The laundromat is tiny, though; there are only a couple of places to sit and it seems like half the machines are set aside for their wash and fold service. Parking lot also leaves something to be desired, so I would definitely recommend against going at busy times (like weekends). I was able to wash and dry a monster king comforter for about $6 using the triple load washer (which was $4/load), so I'm pretty satisfied. Will probably return next time I need to wash blankets or large items. read more

Well, "cramped" is the perfect way to describe this joint. I came in on a Monday around 10:30am and its pretty darn full. There's a few washers and dryers that are out of order, which makes things even more tight. There's only about 6 chairs for anyone to sit down, plus 1 small bench outside. Parking is super tight. The place was clean and I would definitely wash my clothes here again if you need quarters she's got you since all we had was a cc. so we had to get $10 worth of quarters which was fine we had a lot of clothes the space is small but enough we didn't have trouble folding our clothes there during that time we would definitely recommend this place read more

I come here nearly every week, and have to report about the insanely rude employees here. A smile, pleases & thank you's unfortunately haven't changed their manners for me, either. Also, the dryers are a bit of a rip off- 1 quarter supposedly affords you 5 minutes, but after timing my loads several times, I have concluded that 1 quarter really only gets you 3-4 minutes. This place is your traditional laundromat.... washers and dryers, places to fold your clothes, etc... nothing overly exciting.... HOWEVER it gets bumped up from a 3 to 4 star joint because it is right next to Black Hole Coffee... This makes your washing/drying experience much more enjoyable. The 70ish minutes it takes to wash/dry your clothes is quickly spent surfing the internet and sipping on a glass of wine (or other beverage of your choice...) Plus some of the washers and dryers have some pretty cool artwork! You can DIY or drop clothes off. Reasonable prices. Check it out :) read more

Location location location!! Can't say I've ever written a review for a laundromat but I had an insane amount of laundry and hadnt been to a laundromat in ages so decided to knock it out at once. Though not as nice and shiny as some laundromats, it was very welcoming and the staff were wonderful. Great service for shirts. Just picked mine freshly made on wire hangers with a twist. Parking can be rough though I do not mind walking in this neighborhood, calm and good amount of share , no need for shades. Looks good to run/bike/walk around. Already making plans to return. Came on a Thursday night and the lady working there was really nice and helpful. Prices were really affordable too. Reccomend highly.

My first few experiences using the wash and fold service have been excellent. All shirts, underwear, socks, etc. are neatly folded and packed in a plastic bag. All button up shirts, pants, etc are neatly hung and twist tied together so it can all be easily carried. I brought two very large laundry baskets full of clothes and in total I spent $50 to have it all done. Keep in mind if you get just the wash and fold service it does not include ironing, but you can have that done as well for an added cost. Since switching to wash and fold service versus doing my laundry myself at home, my life has become exponentially less stressful and i can spend my time worrying about more important things than washing clothes. Well worth the money in my personal opinion. read more

Update: shortly after this review posted, I heard from the manager who partially compensated me for some of the ruined clothes. While I can't vouch for their services, I do appreciate the business' genuine effort to make things right. -----/Prior Review/------- I'm so disgusted by this place that I'm literally airing my dirty laundry in public. We lost everything in Harvey-our home, our cars and almost everything we owned. When the washing machine broke at our temporary apt, I opted to splurge and "outsource" our laundry. "Why not take it to a friend's place? There's so much," my mom suggested. But with a newborn baby and the mountain of clothes, I needed a break. The woman at the laundromat was unfriendly and stared at me blankly when I mentioned the storm. Which is fine. I moved here from NYC so I don't expect niceties from everyone. Most merchants offered a discount for flood victims but, again, no expectations. When we got the clothes back, I was so disheartened to see how carelessly they had been handled. Multiple items of clothing were splattered with bleach. When my husband went back to pick up some of his dry cleaning, I insisted he show them (laundromat attendant) pictures so they could alert owner. As a former consumer reporter, I thought it only fair that you let the business attempt to resolve an issue before posting a negative review. But when my husband reported the damage, he was told that he needed to catch the manager and told him what days/times she might be reached. Really? It's not enough that you ruined some of the clothes that survived Harvey, we now have to add chasing a Mgr to our never-ending, storm recovery to-do list? No, you've seen the pics, you know the issue. Now the merchant needs to call the customer to resolve. There are things in life that you cannot control. Devastating storms are one. I've been coming to this place for about a year or so but today have experienced something I never thought I'd be writing about. Today I visited graustark to do some laundry and it was pretty crowded. As I folding my laundry I saw two of the laundry attendants go in and out of my dryer while my clothes were still drying and proceeded to tell me that I need to remove my clothes to let someone else's clothes dry while there were other dryers that had stopped. I looked around and I was the only person of color. I felt disrespected and will not ever be back. This probably isn't the place to go to if you are of color. We're not wanted there. read more

I used self-service machines to wash my pillows and found the attendant unfriendly and rather curt when asking questions. I like using front loaders on bulky items to avoid damage from the agitators. For that, the machines are OK. But while loading "3x commercial" front-load washer with king-sized pillows I inquired how much HE detergent. Following the attendants non-verbal instructions and using an entire capful, I found the washer still had suds in the final rinse. It costs an additional $4.50 on this machine just to run through a cycle without any detergent. Second, I also used a "2x commercial" front-load washer that costs a little less and was great for standard-sized pillows AND ran twice as long as the 3x machines doing a MUCH better job of rinsing. However, that machine did not dispense the non-chlorine bleach and I had to "rinse" it out manually and i had to re-wash one of the pillows which did not get clean in the front-loader. I would have appreciated 1) Better advice on the maximum amount of detergent, 2) instructions on the dry additive dispenser and 3)some explanation why the 3x machine has an in adequate wash cycle. This was my second time at this place and had a similar disappointment washing my polly-fill comforter that also required 2 cycles and wasn't as clean I would have expected. read more

My husband and I just moved into a new place and we don't have a washer or dryer in our apartment. Or in the building. So we have been looking for a laundry place to clean our clothes. I have used a wash and fold service before (mostly when I was in Europe) but my husband never had before. So I thought, let's just do some clothes ourselves and then have the other half done in the wash and fold style. The man who was there said it would be ready the next day after 4pm. The washers and dryers all worked fine and did their job. I liked the place. It wasn't too loud so that I was able to read for class. When I went back to pick up our clothes, I was curious to how it was going to be. Some wash and fold places don't really fold your clothes so much as just twirl it around their finger and then throw it into the bag or tub (believe me I've had some interesting experiences). But to my delight they folded the clothes very nicely and piled it so as to try not to squish anything. They even put all of our hanging clothes on hangers! That was definitely not expected but very much appreciated. My husband and I will definitely go back there. read more

Tried this laundry out for dry cleaning and they did a great job. This establishment is tucked away on Gaustark, near the University of St. Thomas campus. Parking is easy but can be packed due to the coffee shop next store. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the price. I had a pair of slacks and a polo dry cleaned and it cost about $8... I usually get a few shirts and a couple pair of pants dry cleaned for that priced in the Heights. May try them again in the future but i'll go elsewhere to try some other places first. I can't comment on their laundry services but they seemed pretty busy, which means people like them! read more

I've owned a home around the corner for nearly 15 years, and even though I've got my own washer and dryer at the house, I find it easier and more convenient to bring my laundry to this business for their wash, dry and fold service. For over a decade Al, the owner, and Graustark Laundry have become a trusted resource that has allowed me to indulge in my own laziness, drop off my dirty bag of clothes in the morning, and to pick up a nice & clean and fresh folded batch that evening, with them even putting my shirts and pants on hangers. And for not much more than I'd pay to do them at the house, and certainly for less hassle. Before discovering Graustark Laundry I tried 2 other places that routinely screwed up my stuff or managed to lose or mangle my clothes. Graustark is a small business carefully overseen by the owner. In terms of being a laundromat (not the wash and fold service part) this place is utterly average, save for one very key thing: they have machines that have delicate cycle. It is amazing how many laundromats just have these crappy non-adjustable machines. I will go here for the sole reason that my delicates can be treated as such, and of course it doesn't hurt at all that theres a very cool coffee shop right next door. I have to say that I wish the mom who runs the place were able to pay more attention to her kid. The little boy is obviously so starved for it that he didn't stop loudly calling out mommy this mommy that etc. the whole time I was there. she's either on the phone or folding clothes, I am sure she works hard ,but dang, get that kid a friend or something! Same goes for the sweet and sad/neglected-looking dog who lays on the floor. I think I'll start bringing him a bone when I come. read more

Okay, I am going to give away the little tucked away secret that is Graustark Laundry. It is never too crowded and doesn't feel shady like most laundry places. The people there are nice. I will say I haven't washed clothes there in several months, because I am addicted to their wash and fold. It's cheap and comes out well.
