I have used them for several years going back to Covid & have been pleased but I will discontinue using Class Tailors after this last incident. I brought a dress in for alterations which cost me $220.00!!! The dress was Tahari & originally cost $375. My bad as I did not try the dress on when I picked up so when I was dressing for my event there was a problem with the zipper & I could not wear the dress. I returned the dress for repair & explained I was unable to wear as planned. When I picked up the repaired dress I was NOT offered any compensation. I asked will you be issuing any type of credit and she offered a discount on future alterations. No worries because there won't be any future alterations. Class Tailor's made a mistake and instead of offering me a small $50 credit for my inconvenience I get nothing. I might need an alteration once a year, it's not common for me. The charge of $220 blew me away but I accepted it but was too high! High prices & no compensation for their mistake. read more

I've been coming here for a few years and have brought multiple clothing items in for alterations. While the work is decent, the alterations don't always look completely seamless. Over time, the prices have also increased significantly. I recently had the waist taken in on a pair of pants, and what used to cost $20-$25 is now $40. On top of that, there are only three parking spots for this location, and if those are taken, you have to find parking elsewhere in the area and walk to the tailor. Because of the steep price increase and inconvenient parking, I've decided not to return to this location. read more

Class tailors do a great job with tailoring. They're kinda pricey, but worth the price IMO. I had my wedding reception dress heavily tailored (hem, take out the sides, shorten the top part) and it cost $180 - BUT the tailoring was really good and I felt comfortable all night on that dress. I absolutely LOVE this place. My job allows us to wear jeans to work. So I usually get premium denim. When spending so much on jeans, you want them to fit perfectly. I've gone several places to get alterations done. And this place is by far the best. The customer service is great. Let me preface this review by saying I may be a bit biased. These guys saved me in a time of dire need and I am so grateful to them. I made the huge mistake of waiting until the last week before my wedding to look into getting a bustle altered into my dress. I was initially told by a different tailor that it wouldn't take more than an hour or two, so I didn't think it was a big deal. Fast forward to 4 days before my wedding and absolutely NO tailor/seamstress is available to do my bustle. Even the seamstress who initially told me it would be very quick told me that she wouldn't be able to help. I must have called at least 10 places, hearing "no" after "no," and I'm sitting in my car with tears in my eyes about to have a panic attack. Finally I called Class Tailors and PRAISE JESUS they told me to come in for fitting/evaluation (maybe they could hear my panic on the other end of the line). I came in and was helped right away. From what i can tell the business seems to be family run, I believe a brother and sister, both of them super friendly. They pinned in a bustle within a handful of minutes and agreed to do the work within a day, for a very affordable price (especially considering that all of this is last minute). The bustle wasn't anything too complex, and looking back on things I might have changed a few details had I more time, but overall it looked great in pictures, held up all night (no issues with falling) and was everything I asked for. Have had around ten garments altered here and they have almost all been mediocre at best. The service was tolerable because its close but also expensive with poor, consistently snarky customer service. But picking up my most recent alterations was ridiculous. They didnt even bother to do one of them and didnt even call me. When I tried it on and pointed that out to the catty woman with the glasses, she made some excuse about there not being fabric. She didnt answer when I said black cotton fabric was easy to find. All she seemed to care about was whether or not I was paying in cash. Zero sincerity or concern that the garment they hadnt bothered to alter was the one I needed most urgently for a business trip. That is the last I tolerate work and attitude like that from this business. They are not trustworthy and I will not be returning. Try Class Tailors at your own risk. read more

I don't normally get anything tailored but my bridesmaid dress was quite a bit too long. I paid around $140 for the dress so I figured it wouldn't be too crazy to get it hemmed. When I went to pick up that and a suit jacket for a friend, the total was MORE THAN THE DRESS! In addition, they didn't ask us to try on the clothes to make sure they had been appropriately fixed and did not offer an itemized receipt so that my friend and I could split the cost. We were rushed out without much help or concern on the part of the shop worker. It seemed like much of the calculations were done in a spiral notebook that seemed messy. Took 4 pair of pants here to get taken in in the waist and one pair hemmed. I was in no rush to get them back. Took them on a Saturday they were ready the following Saturday. If you want your items sooner they can accommodate. They are very friendly and their work is Great. I have a problem with al my jeans fitting everywhere but my waist. They fixed that issue. HIGHLY RECOMMEND -- I have finally found my spot. I read all reviews before finally decided to use. It is hard to find women's suiting in petite sizes and even then they never fit me properly. I've been going here for the past 5 years for all of my alterations, and I refuse to go anywhere else, even though the owner has begun pushing her prices higher and higher. I've been hearing though that the rent in the Village is sky-rocketing, so this may be the reason. Anyways, I've had jeans and pants hemmed, dressed hemmed and tightened, straps changed and altered. I've even had sport coats taken in at the shoulder and chest. Everything comes out perfectly. What I love most about the owner is that she always tells you like it is. If you try something on, and she doesn't think it's worth altering or she can't alter it, she'll tell you. She's even called me after I asked her to alter a piece for me and told me that she was worried that it wouldn't come out the I wanted it to look and I should either take the piece back or come back in for another fitting, without charge of course. Who still does this kind of stuff? I trust her with all of my clothes, regardless of the price I paid for them. The owners and employees are all very sweet. I get asked all of the time, "Your pants are always the perfect length. Do you get them hemmed?" Being only 5' 3", my secret is Class Tailors. I have been to several tailors in Houston but this little shop is a Class (punny) in itself. q=D. This mom & pop store is an old-school tailor . They take measurements and remarks down on their spiral notebook. The workers are friendly and know what they are doing. The only alterations I have had done at Class Tailors was getting my jeans hemmed (original hem kept). This may be a simple procedure, but when you have expensive items you want them done perfectly. Another plus is that my moderations made to my outfits were always completed on-time. Some tailors quote me a specific day and then take an extra week to complete. Very poor experience with bad customer service. I came in with my wedding gown, to have it shortened by a few inches. When I came back for it, the back zipper was broken and the dress was still way too long. It took THREE trips back before the zipper was fixed and it was the right length. I told the woman I wasnt happy with the service. She ignored me and took my credit card. On my way out I said I would be writing a review, she said "well I didn't even charge you to fix the zipper." Yeah- you broke it, why would you charge me? Very strange experience with terrible customer service. I gave her a chance to fix it and she didn't care or apologize. Will not be returning. read more

I needed to have a bridesmaid dress altered, and after Yelping local tailors I decided to give Class Tailors a try. This tiny little shop on University Blvd. in the Village is easy to miss, just remember its next to Baskin Robbins :) For having lived in Houston all my life, I can't believe I never realized it was there! The staff said they've been in business for 30+ years. I came in on a Friday, and needed the dress back the following Thursday. Class Tailors said they could get it done by Wednesday- great! My alterations were a little complicated, as I needed the hem shortened on 2 different layers as well as the sides taken in, and the fabric is a little tricky to work with. I was nervous they wouldn't get it right- but lo and beyond, when I picked up the dress it fit perfectly. The staff were very friendly too. The price was very reasonable too (~$50), so I will definitely be back for any future alterations! Parking does suck but if you are just popping in and out you can park in the Arcade parking and walk across the street (that's what I did). read more

Summary: Excellent work. Multiple visits not needed unless you are looking for an excuse to get the free ice cream next door once a year. I bought a suit once from Men's Wearhouse (NB: "Once" being the operative word here) and after the guy spent twenty minutes trying to sell me every accessory in the place including the cash register I agreed to allow their tailor to finish the suit. I guess they got mine confused with the guy whose right limb was two inches shorter than the left and whose jacket allowed him to indulge his habit of pulling threads. I needed the suit for some event so time was a factor; I almost refused the suit on the spot but they managed to fix it and since I didn't spend a lot on the suit it was no big deal. I have since taken my good stuff to Class. They do the work correctly the first time and pay attention to detail. I like 1 1/4 inch cuffs and they are precise in their measurements. They generally take about five days to get things back but it's worth waiting for. Best sign: I don't have to try the stuff on in the store to know it's right! read more

5 star service! Definitely want to come back to these guys. I live in upper cypress and I will always prefer to make the trip to CT because i trust their skills and they'll get the job done right! I love that you can always call and ask a question (including rates/estimates) and hey can answer it without a problem. I took in a pair of APC jeans to be tapered and a pair of Unis pants to be hemmed. I didn't trust myself w a sewing machine well enough to risk ruining two pairs of $200 pants. I took these to Class Tailors and they had me try on each pair to get pinned up and fitted. Then I just had to leave my name and give them about a weeks time. 7 days later I was back to pick up my pants and, as expected, they were waiting for me (I was there shortly after opening). I was ready to pay the $38.60 but I did not realize that they offer a Cash Discount so I believe it came down to 34 even. APCs and Unis look amazing thanks to these guys. Racist lol. Better tailors in Rice Village. The first time I used their services, it was to get a dress tailored. When I came back to pick up the dress, I asked to try it on, which the lady at the front desk said I could do in the back. I guess the lady (the store owner) forgot I was back there trying on the dress because as soon as the next customer came in, she started lamenting to her about how a "fat, black" girl had just run out without paying. The customer she was talking to started saying that she'd just seen somebody by that exact description outside (note: I'm still in the back of the store), basically incriminating all "fat, black" girls in the near proximity. Obviously, I came out from the back and confronted the store owner to which she was visibly embarrassed about. Apparently, she was on the phone while I was trying on my dress and had forgotten I was doing so, so her logical jump was to assume I had stolen it even before checking to see? Anyhow, against my better judgement, I did go back about two weeks later to get another dress tailored. This time, the experience was a lot more pleasant and a guy attended to me. However, the tailoring job itself was not very good and resulted in the bust of the dress being off-kilter (way too high so that the bust of the dress aligned with my upper chest instead of my bust). I did not have time to note this when picking up as I needed the dress for a photo shoot an hour after the dress was available for pick-up and I didn't have time to try it on. The amount for tailoring (even if it had been done correctly) was also overpriced and the amount they told me to anticipate when I went in to drop off the dress was very different from the amount I was told at check-out. It took almost a week for the dress to be done. There was another tailor around the corner I'd consulted with who was willing to tailor my dress and even include extra fixtures and be done with the dress 4 days earlier than at Class, for the exact same price I ended up being charged. All in all, I know a lot of people consider this place to be their go-to tailors and I see that they do try hard to build relationships with their customers. However, despite their pleasantries and upfront niceness, both experiences I've had with them have turned out quite poor. I doubt I'll ever go back. read more

Terrible experience. $127 to alter a simple black dress. When I went to pick it up and try it on, it was not lying properly in the rear area after their other alterations, so additional ones had to be made to fix that. Of course, they charged me heavily for it. I left with a wrinkly dress that had glitter all over it and no time to dry clean it!! The alterations cost more than the dress itself. I've had very extensive alterations done in the past on elaborate dresses that cost far less than this. Outrageous! All of this on top of the extra fabric I was asked to purchase (none of it worked according to them) to lengthen the sleeves a little, and they ended it fixing the original sleeve like I asked them to in the first place (no material needed). That additional fabric cost me $20 on top of my time and energy running around town. read more

I am really sad to give 2 stars to Class Tailors. I got an incredibly expensive dress altered here 2 years ago and it was done perfectly at a really reasonable price. Happy with my first experience, I go back with a pair of pants. (premium denim worth 200). I ask them to take them in and they do all the markings. I pick them up and I am thrilled to wear them. To my HORROR my pants were BOTCHED. It was if one leg was tapered in and the other was completely neglected. Same with the waist. I go back and explain to them what happened and they were not even apologetic! They "fixed" it and charged me again. In a rush and optimistic to try Class Tailors again, I go in with 7 dresses and a pair of pants to tailor for an upcoming vacation. My experience getting pinned and what not was great. I felt good leaving. I come back 1 WEEK LATER to find that "they could not alter my pants because the chalk wore off". I then angerly replied, " IF YOU COULD NOT FIND THE CHALK WHY DID I NOT GET A CALL TO COME BACK IN AND FIX THEM? YOU HAD ONE WEEK!" Again, not very apologetic and did not offer me a discount or anything for the HUGE mistake they made. Never coming here again. read more

I have been to a couple other tailors since moving to Houston but this is where you really get what you pay for and I'm really happy to have found this place. I have been here about 5 or 6 times for tailoring of everything from pants and blazers to sweaters and not so simple outerwear. This place is AWESOME. Sure it may be a little pricey, but what they can do is really impressive and if you are investing in your wardrobe it's just as important to invest in a good tailor who can work some magic. The tailoring is good, but the price is RIDICULOUS. I paid more for tailoring than I did on my actual clothes. I was really surprised that only ONE part of having a dress get taken in on the waist amounted to 45 dollars, the total dress was over a hundred in tailoring. And that was just one dress. First of all, the customer service...was excellent. I walked in first thing on Friday morning and the woman at the front helped me immediately. I put on my suit and she pinned and marked me right up. She was polite, funny, and clearly knew exactly what she was doing. Another customer came in right after me and while I was getting dressed the lady went ahead and helped this woman with her bridesmaid dress that the woman had to wear the very next day! The lady at Class Tailors was completely understanding of her situation and was happy to help this poor woman who had to be in an outdoor wedding in a long black dress in July in Houston, TX. The lady then got my contact information and explained that the turn around was usually a week. Of course I needed it the following Monday because I wanted to wear it to a business lunch on Tuesday. Again, as she was the other customer, she was completely understanding and promised to have it ready by the following Monday. Now, the work...was/is incredible. They basically had to remake my suit because it was so big on me but it now looks like a perfectly-tailored suit and I am just in awe. They did such an awesome job that I will never go to a different tailor in Houston. Really amazing work and amazing people. Don't even think about going elsewhere. Also, they only accept Visa and Mastercard and my bank switched to Discover, but that's my bank's big dumb fault. But they did accept a personal check and they offer a discount if you pay in cash. read more
