Over time, the prices have also increased significantly. I recently had the waist taken in on a pair of pants, and what used to cost $20-$25 is now $40. On top of that, there are only three parking spots for this location, and if those are taken, you have to find parking elsewhere in the area and walk to the tailor. I replied, "Next week? Oh, no thank you." Instead of simply ending the call professionally, the employee snapped, "You didn't even tell me what you needed," and then hung up on me. I called back and said, "If you had asked, I would have been able to tell you." Her response was, "Well then, what do you need?" At that point, I told her, "You know what? I don't even need this. Thanks." I've never experienced customer service like this. Whether you're a small business or a large one, treating potential customers with impatience, attitude, and hanging up on them is completely unacceptable. If you're too busy to take on new work, there are professional ways to communicate that. Respect costs nothing. All the ladies who work there are so very kind, and the work they do is exquisite. My Mother use to sew all of our clothes when I was young and I know what good workmanship is, and MIWA uses the same type of workmanship. These guys are top-notch and know exactly what they are doing, I came to Nick Lopez to have a tuxedo completely cut re-cut and fitted to my body. I'm a short guy and so finding a suit in store that fits me just right is near impossible. I came in contact with almost every single person at the shop, and they were all so welcoming and pleasant to work with. They remember my name when I come in for services and always double check their work when I try my pieces on. I was most impressed with the work they did on my tuxedo, I came to pickup my tux on a Thursday, one day before the gala I was expected to attend. After trying on the tux, just when I thought it was perfect.. these guys were not happy with the final outcome. I didn't ask them to re-do the work, they asked me if they could take it back and make the necessary changes they felt were needed. I was a bit worried about dropping it off since the event was the following day but I gambled and trusted them with my pieces. Most people probably do not have the time to go back and forth, time is precious, but I was able to work around my schedule because I needed this to fit just right. I came back the following day, just a few hours before the gala and I do not regret having them take it back for some more work. The tux fit perfectly! Snug in all the right areas (DAT ASS!!). Of course everything that is done with high quality care also comes with top dollar costs. NLT is a bit more expensive than any other place I have been to but the services are so amazing that I am willing to pay whatever it is to look on point!

The shop is clean, well-lit and has huge mirrors. There isn't much free parking nearby, but the short walk from street parking is manageable enough. I had a strapless dress with a fairly high split and was roomy in the top area. The dress had lots of sequins and feathers, so I was anxious on how he would make the alterations, but I soon learned to trust his professionalism and the dress turned out absolutely gorgeous! A week and $40 later, I was ready to hit the dance floor at my friend's Roaring 20s/Great Gatsby-themed birthday party.

I dropped off my three items on a Thursday afternoon and left my cellphone number which Andy said that he would text when the items were ready. I never received a text so I waited a little over a week to pick up my items on the following Saturday afternoon. My items were ready when I got there and the dress that I dropped off with a few stains looked as good as new! I paid $7 an item which is definitely on the higher end but I was happy to see the quality of the work. Other notes - free parking is becoming increasingly scarce in Rice Village so be prepared to walk a few blocks during busier times of the day if you don't want to pay to park.
