I've been coming to Marcello's since the father ran it, and have loved that his with the daughters chose to carry on his legacy. The reputation he built -- quality, speed, and a family touch -- is a Houston story. Over the past several months, I've become a much more frequent client, and a pattern has emerged. One sister is genuinely warm, attentive, and makes you feel like your business matters. The other is a consistent source of frustration. Too many visits have started with visible irritation on her end, required me to redirect her attention to alteration needs that should have been obvious, and ended in results that reflected the disconnect. She is doesn't seem to love/like the craft or even the business-- and that shows up in how she engages with clients. There have been moments I've walked out so taken aback that I called a friend just to confirm I wasn't imagining it. I wasn't -- this appears to be a pattern others have experienced too. It's also evident in many online reviews. I share this because I want this business to do well long term. Their father built something special, and the foundation is still there. But one person's attitude is a real risk to the reputation he worked so hard to build. I hope she finds her way back to loving this work -- the business and its clients deserve that. read more

I'm not sure if this is their new location or they've always had this spot, but I know they were located by the ice rink in the Galleria, but have since closed that location about the time of covid. I have to say I like this location much better because of the ease to get to it. Marcello's has always been my go to place. Recently when I couldn't locate them I brought my items to a different alteration shop which I ended up bringing my close here for them to repair what the other alteration store didn't do properly. I look forward to the ease and quality work for any of my other items that need addressing by Marcellos. read more

I was referred by my girlfriend and took a tuxedo and a sport coat in for alterations. The women at the desk that made the alterations was not particularly welcoming when I first tried it on. When I returned to try on the altered clothes, the sport coat fit fine, but the tuxedo needed adjustments. When I told the woman that the jacket was tight and asked that she let it out, she resisted and told me that was the way it was supposed to fit. After I told her again it was not comfortable and asked her again to let out the jacket, she begrudgingly made the adjustment. In addition, the pants needed to be lengthened and she told me that it would cost more to do that. I could've sworn that I had already paid to lengthen the pants, but their invoice was not itemized so I just paid the extra charge. The woman who 'helped' me may be a talented tailor, but she has no business dealing with customers. I will not go back and would not recommend. read more

I really like the place, they get the items done in a timely manner and the work is always great! The pricing is a bit high but the quality of the work makes up for it. However I'm not sure who the older man is but he is incredibly creepy. I've been to the store about 2-3 times and I dread going when he is there. He makes inappropriate comments about my body and how I look. I'm sure to him they are all "compliments" but he should watch the things he says as it makes me extremely uncomfortable. Picture this: You get married April 29th, had a crazy/rowdy wedding, and then take your tux to the cleaners because 2 weeks later your little sister gets married. You're responsible so you pick up your tux a week early and have it sitting in your closet until her big day. I mean you're a GROOMSMAN in the wedding so you have to be prepared in advance right? Now it's time - wedding day! An hour before you are supposed to meet for photos you come out of the shower jamming some Depacito. You're feeling good, feeling... sexy. You put on your custom tux only to find that the jacket is absolutely ripped, threads hanging out, and you can see through to your boxers... (CUE PANIC ATTACK!!) You're a momma's boy so you call your mom in a desperate attempt to be comforted only to be yelled at for not looking at your tux sooner. You drive down the street to your tailor but they are closed. HERE COMES MARCELLO! I call him after a referral from the business I purchased my tux from. I go into a shop panicked and he not only calms me down but takes my jacket to the back to be fixed AND steam ironed! I put it on, he looks at me, looks at the jacket, and looks at me once more.. . "I can do a better job at tailoring this for you. Do you have 10 minutes?" My jacket magically comes out even more fitted to my body! IT WAS MAGIC. While in there I met two women who swear by Marcello. They have been going to him for over 15 years, one of them over 25 years and now her kids go to him. Marcello was a life saver for me. He made me be able to enjoy my little sister's wedding and really relieved so much anxiety for me. I might have been unable to actually be in my little sister's wedding if it were not for him. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. You are amazing and have a customer for life. Truly as good as it gets. I find it amusing when people complain that someone was rude. It's what you'll put with that makes it so. I go in and tell what I want, what's it gonna costs. Last thing they ask when do I want it. And they deliver as expected every time. They will take apart an outfit and put it back together to fit me. Money talks and bullshit walks. read more

Since moving to Houston, we have found it difficult to find "our places" however the attention to detail and understanding of urgency at Marcellos is unparalleled to anyone in the city. I have used Marcello's on several occasions. He is the only tailor I would ever go to in Houston. He altered a red carpet Romona Keveza gown for me that was 4 sizes too big, (redid all of the boning in the corset), he dropped the waistline in a Monique Lhullier ball gown that was too short for me and most recently painstakingly hemmed many many many layers of tulle and altered the veil of my Galia Lahav wedding dress- in two days!!!!! After a month of waiting for them to call me and tell me the dress was ready, I finally called them and they said it had been ready for weeks. When I showed up to pick it up they were not courteous, acting like I was wasting their time wanting to try it on before I paid. It was brought in to let it out a couple inches, it ended up a full size too big. I wanted to ask them to take it back in but I knew they wouldn't have it done in time for my event. The bill to take a dress out just a couple of inches was $86!! That's almost what I paid for the dress in the first place. Definitely won't be back. read more

Very very bad!!! We had a small problem on the shoulder (a kind of wave) of my husbands suit. It was new, we just bought it @ Saks... We went to Marcello to get it fixed if possible, otherwise we would return it back to the store... He promised and was so sure that the problem was in the back (which was not) , so he had to open it! Now the wave is still there, it's big in the shoulders and the back and we can not return it back to the store bcoz we already altered both the suit and the trousers... The most annoying was that he was trying to assure us that not it suits better! After 2 minutes this wave was showing again... Anyways, he had to return the money, and now I have to find another tailor to fix these problems... I m not going there again!!! read more

Children have taken over and their attitudes are nothing like Marcello's. He was always gracious and kind with a smile. You go in they barely speak to you. The business will go down because of this. read more
