If you have time, I will let you know that I came to Houston with a very important meeting scheduled for the day and I have been looking for a suit all over the state and my pant size was not to be found. Until I checked the local men's store and they had something that was the closest to my size but it needed to be adjusted significantly. I'm one of those that like the slim fit looks, so the gentleman at the store highly recommended Martin Tailor shop and I took my chances. When I arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and ready to help! I had one of the quickest services and turn around due to my unforeseeable circumstances, with great quality and attention to detail. I have been a fan of Martin Tailors ever since I moved to Houston. While their work is fine, their customer service has always been what has impressed me most. When they couldn't get a dress to fit quite right, they tried again and offered a percent off. While their prices keep going up, I've remained loyal to them. I've even sent countless numbers of friends and coworkers there. However, my most recent experience and treatment has turned me off from ever going or sending anyone I care about there again. I ordered a dress custom sized from Azazie.com. I went to Martin's to get my measurements to ensure the dress fit exactly. The dress came in about a size and a half too large. When taking it in for alterations, I expected the great customer service I usually receive. Instead I was told the alterations were going to be almost double the cost of the dress itself and when I brought up how it was their measurements, she was unbelievably rude and concluded by saying "that's why we don't usually do measurements" ....then why were my measurements taken there in the first place? She brought out Johnny, who I believe is the owner, to further explain the situation. He also offered no help. He simply said "it doesn't look like it is going to be too much work" but stood by the outrageous price. Because that makes sense... Long story short, I will not be returning to Martin Tailor again. They are becoming overpriced and their customer service is becoming worse and worse. read more

just now Finally realized after twenty years of using them how over priced they are and rude. Took in some map panels to be hemmed. Couldn't give me a price said they had to see how muc work and call me. I gave them a $75 deposit. They texted me today and it would be $39 dollars per panel. I told them that it was for a non profit and they couldn't afford that price and I would come pandora pick up the material. They did reduce to$30 and than $25 but I said no. I picked up the material and they charged me $30 for the quote!!!!! Went to Carol's Tailors in Shepherd plaza shopping center and they did it for $10 per panel!!!!! The place is easy to be spot. Good job. Nevertheless is extremely expensive. Never in my life I will come back, more or less to even have them change a button in a blouse, cause, they will cost 3 times more of the cost of the blouse. If you do not mind to blow up your money, then, come to this place. What it attracted to come to this place was the sign " quick alteration". This place is a robbery in day time. Quoted me $30 less than what they charged, I paid tax on the deposit and the service. Stained my dress as they were altering it and initially weren't going to clean it. $78 for hemming the bottom of a dress. $67 for taking in the waist. 0/10 experience. They are over-priced and not worth the 2-week-long hassle. They "discounted" my service to $110 on a $120 dress..... I would go somewhere cheaper! read more

I took my Vera Wang wedding dress here for an alteration and they did an amazing job. The dress needs to be cut shorter and the lady also made 7 additional bustle buttons on the back of my dress. They have excellent customer service and the turn around time is amazingly fast. The only thing I was very unhappy about is they are way too overpriced. Go see Johnny Hernandez if you want your measurements to be right. Everyone here is super friendly and helpful. They have not only taken measurements for me to send off for custom clothing or a rental tux out of state, but they do good work on alterations. If i drop something off it normally takes a week at the most for them to complete my alterations, sometimes less. Although the place may not look so good on the outside, don't let the looks fool you. The inside clean and spacious for your needs. They are the most dependable tailors I have met in the area so far. Their prices are affordable for the work that needs to be done. Try to get there early since this place has gotten popular and get a little packed later in the afternoon. Even if it is packed they will move everyone through efficiently and make sure everyone is taken care of. read more

A quaint shop on Feagan just off Shepherd with a friendly staff. I came here to get four pairs of dress pants tailored. (I get my height thanks to my father.) I have a slim physique and am tall for a woman so I constantly have to buy bigger pants so they fit me length-wise, unfortunately this causes the pants to be super-baggy... I digress. I came here and was amazed at how quickly I was greeted and serviced. I had the same gentleman the entire time I was changing the pants so he could mark them and take my information. I received a text message when my pants were ready to be picked up. This is the first business that I know of that does that; most will call you which is extremely great customer service but I'm a chicken who does not answer the phone unless I know the number... however, sending a text message is genius! I had four pairs of pants altered both for length and in the waist area which is more pricey than just having them altered for length. If you're like me and want a pair of pants to fit in all areas, go to Martin Tailors. They have same-day and next-day turnarounds. (I was not in a hurry to get my pants back ASAP so I chose to wait a few days.) I also saw a sign that says you get 5% off if you pay in cash. read more

I used to love coming here because of Trey (Martin the Third). Trey is an absolute charm and is amazing! I would still come back but it seems the last few times I've been missing him and it's truly not worth it anymore to deal with his father. The reason I'm giving this place such a poor rating is because of the service Martin, the owner and father is not friendly nor is he approachable. I came there with a pair of Louis Vuitton jeans for my husband and repeatedly told him to give me the remaining pieces since I spent a lot of money on the jeans. When I came to pick up the jeans he said there weren't much but scraps but regardless if there were "scraps" you should still give them to me as I requested. He then quoted me the wrong price for all of my items. His son and daughter sorted it out and refunded me and he forcefully interrupted them and said "no I worked hard on this piece I'll only give you back $60 of it" when he didn't even realize he quoted me incorrectly. His son (Trey) and daughter told him that he was wrong and he then gave me back my money. His daughter apologized profusely and said "I'm sorry he's been sick". I completely understand if you're having a bad day. It do not take it out on someone if you're sick.. that's just rude and unprofessional. That day left a sour taste in my mouth but I gave it another chance because of Trey. I then again had to deal with Martin (Senior) again when I gave him my jumpsuit. I was not happy with the results and he made me come back numerous times to get it fixed. I have read multiple reviews that the service has gone downhill and now I can see why. I would definitely come because of Martin the Third but I will no longer be using Martin's Tailors from here and out. read more

I have used Martin tailors a couple times. First time was about a year or two ago and was pretty good. This past time I got a dress altered for my brothers wedding. The turnaround from when I brought it in to the wedding was about a week and a half. I got the dress taken in on the side and top, shortened, and pads put in. The price still seemed rather steep- about $150. They said I was paying based on an hourly rate, which I hadn't heard of before. When I tried on the dress after the alterations, which I will admit was not until I had brought it home, it had been altered way too much around and one of the breast pads immediately fell out without me even doing anything. The pads had just been sewn in on either side with a few threads. Not substantial. I am not at all satisfied with the service I obtained and especially at the price. read more

If you want to go to a tailor and feel comfortable, this is your place! I had to comment on the professionality of Martin Tailors after bringing my MOH dress here for my sisters wedding. I needed the length to be shortened and breast pads to be put in. The man that was helping me was so respectful and made sure I was comfortable especially since working in that region. Before he did anything he explained to me exactly what he was going to do and checked in a few times during the process to make sure I wasn't uncomfortable with him working in the breast area. I have been going to this place for several years now and have been pleased, but the customer service has definitely gone down. I came on yelp to see if other people noticed the same thing. The older woman at the counter is pretty rude to people. I noticed because I was waiting there for awhile. I heard one of the guys there embarrass a man who went in to get a coat fixed that was obviously too large for him. They asked him in a mocking way why he even bought it, was it on sale, was it the only coat he could buy, and finally ended up telling him to return it because it would be expensive to fix. He looked pretty embarrassed because everyone there heard him basically get made fun of. Then after trying everything on, I was told my 8 pieces, mostly pants to be shortened, would be $320 and that I needed to pay upfront. I find this to be very strange to pay upfront for a service before it is even done. One lady was told $45 for a dress, then when she complained, they changed it to $15! The older lady with a lot of makeup at the counter looked at her like she was such a bother. They truly give the impression that customers are the uninvited guests in their home. I am ready to try a new place. They are too arrogant here, and I know there are other places who can help me, not barter for prices, and not look down on customers who voice a concern. read more
