Arrogant, dishonest, inconsistent, and unsatisfactory. She had fixed a short sleeve the way I wanted in the past (by finishing the material border rather than using a hem). So, I brought 5 others for her to do the same way. When I returned home, I saw she had placed hems on all the garments, despite our conversation not to do so. She charged and was paid $80 cash for the repair. Instead, her making manual hems ruined them, as far as I am concerned--condescending, haughty, abrasive, and depreciating attitude. The value of the shirts ruined was over $275.00. Combined with this $80 she extracted from me, and transportation, this was a $405.00 loss. Add a loss of 2 hr professional time for this deception! My opinion--stay far away from Bayou City Cleaners, AKA, "K. P. Tailors" 4729 Richmond Ave, Houston TX 77027. I apologize I could not eliminate the one-star rating here on Google Reviews. Kim is incredible! I brought both mine and my cousins bridesmaid dresses here for alterations. Mine needed to be shortened and my cousin's needed to be let out 5 inches. This was a super complicated job, but Kim was able to take scraps from my dress and add it to my cousin's dress. She also had to reconfigure the satin belt by removing the snap closures and stitching it onto the dress. By the time she was done, both dresses looked absolutely perfect. She did the work quickly, and her prices were more than reasonable. I will definitely be using Kim for all my alterations from now on. read more

I brought my wedding dress only 1.5 weeks away from the wedding, and not only she did the alterations (hemming the bottom and fixing the front/chest area) in a timely manner, but also the work itself is amazing with the neat stitchings and hidden seams for a quite complicated dress. Overall, really great experience and will come back for future alterations. And bring cash for discounted price!!! read more

Good work so far! Just make sure you check the prices for alterations when you drop them off. Paying with cash gets you a couple of bucks off the total. If you need something by a certain time, ask for it maybe 2 hours early from the time you actually need it. One time they forgot about my alteration that I asked for by a certain time and they told me to come back in 2 hours. read more

I was a customer here for years. I have a lot of alterations. The quality of the tailoring service has deteriorated badly. My husband brought a pair of Adriano Goldschmeid jeans to KP and they were hemmed too short. KP tried to fix it but there was not enough fabric and the $200 jeans had to be donated. I was not offered a refund. People make mistakes and I had been a long time customer so I brought in another group of clothes. A $500 jacket was taken in in a way that left lines running from the front to the back. It's wearable only if I want to look like a clown. Kim talked around and around the problem and did not apologize, offer to fix it or offer a refund. People make mistakes. Admitting them and trying to make it right is important. Kim is absolutely fantastic.... no matter what, she finds a way to make your experience and the quality of work top notch. I've been to her 10+ times in the last 3 years. She has turned a size 10 dress (that wasn't even made in a larger size by the manufacturer) into a 14-16 size for me... and it looked absolutely perfect!!! She totally redid the dress from the inside out and the price was pretty reasonable considering all the work she had to do on it! But by far the most impressive thing she has done for me was my wedding dress last October. When the bridal salon ordered my dress 3 sizes too big... and wanted to charge me $800-$1000 to fix their mistake ... I brought the dress to Kim and asked her what she could do. She was SO PATIENT and kept me calm... and explained that I would have to come once a week to her shop, and we would totally reconstruct the dress from the inside out. It was a total of 6 visits, each one showing tons of improvement... and she even did all the alterations in her house. She told me that she didn't want dust or dirt from the shop floor to touch my dress! And she 6 weeks of work for $250. If you've ever gotten a wedding dress hemmed... you know that alone is upwards of $300. I needed it hemmed about a foot, and I needed the dress totally reconstructed for a smaller frame. I've only had pants hemmed here so I can't comment on any of her other work. She does a good job and relatively quick. I give it 5 stars because the price is reasonable ($9.00) for hemming pants. Not sure if you can beat that for the area. Seems like all the other places in the area charge way too much for a simple pant hem. Rose is the name of the lady who runs this place and she's been very friendly all the times I've stopped in. I think she is open 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday. One downside is that she only takes cash. read more

I've had a lot of my clothes altered here. They did a great job with the stitches and prices were reasonable. I usually send them in bulk of 9-11 pieces (dresses/skirts/jeans/maxi dresses) and it would be altered in a week. Would highly recommend them!! read more

My son wanted to be my Doctor for Halloween and we special ordered scrubs to match my Doctors scrubs. It was 2 days before Halloween when we received the scrubs and they sent the pants 2 sizes smaller than it should have been! I did not know what I was going to do! I remembered passing this place every day and figured, why not even though I knew it'd end up being too expensive. It wasn't at all!! Not only was it affordable, they were able to have it done same day! They did an AMAZING job and they look better now than before because we were able to tie in the matching scrub cap with the added material! LIFE SAVERS! Beautiful job done! MANY asked where we got the scrubs and I told them who added the material on the side as that's what they really wanted for their scrubs! read more

I really used to love this place but after this last incident, I sadly will not be back there again. I dropped off my bridesmaid dress on a Wednesday, the week before my best friend's wedding. I went to pick of my dress on the Wednesday of the week of the wedding, a few days before the wedding. I had it hemmed and taken in at the shoulders which is what I was checking for when I tried it on before I left in a rush since I went during work. I did not think to check to see if they had steam dewrinkled the dress since it's a standard procedure on formal dresses, at least so I thought. The day of the wedding came and I tried on the dress when I found that the dress had not been dewrinkled! I was so panicked I luckily found an iron with a steaming function on it and used it on my dress. Unfortunately, in such a rush I accidentally used too much heat on the dress that it accidentally burned a hole in the dress! The horror I felt was intense. After I calmed down, I talked to a friend who helped me patch up the dress as best as possible. My brides party understood and everything worked out so that was great. However, to this day, I am still incredibly disappointed at the thoughtlessness shown to me by the tailor. She knew I had a wedding scheduled a few days from pickup and she didn't even think to ask/mention that the dress needed to be dewrinkled. Anyway, I hope this never happens to anyone else and that maybe this serves as a reminder to be professional and kind to people who are preparing for important events. read more

However when I went to her for my wedding dress alterations she flat out told me she couldn't do the bustle and that I should have known that it would be difficult and that I shouldn't have bought this dress... ?!Another tailor did a fabulous job with the dress and it fits perfectly with a perfect bustle. Kim is very good at alterations. I may have had only 1 item that needed a 2nd attempt. I have had over 6 suits altered here. Very very reasonable, esp considering location to Galleria. She is a true tailor/seamstress. I took my favorite tie in to get it cleaned and it has some stress marks and tears in the silk. She said she could fix it - didn't even think it would have been possible, so I let her. She rewove the material and it looks great. I can't even tell where the silk fraying was located. She has fixed small holes in coats. She can and will reweave. It's not just taking it in here and there. I had a pair of pants I bought on Ebay that didn't have enough room to let out. So she took from the bottom hem and added material in 3 places to the pants. Awesome job. It was less than $20. Good small business owner type place. Hours are good and they do take credit cards. Have a $10 min I think. I get my dry cleaning done here too. read more

This place is awesome in ALMOST every way. ;) The owner is super sweet; the workers are nice. They do a great job. They are lightning bolt fast. I feel like I can drop alterations off and ask for it to be ready the next day and they would have no problems. And I usually have about three items at a time. Great location; very central. The ONLY thing that's keeping me from giving KP five stars is the pricing. I feel as though it may be a tad bit overpriced. read more

Kim altered 2 dresses for me and it fit perfectly. It fit like a glove and you can't even tell that it was altered. She also altered my husband's jacket and it looked like it was made for him. Ms. Phuong knows how to hem my jean lines and make my dresses more fitted (including a sequined/silk dress and a bride's maid dress). I just left this establishment. It was my first and very LAST time patronizing this establishment. I took several items of clothes in to be altered on April 22nd. I was told that my clothes would be ready for pickup on April 30th. On April 29th, I received a call from the owner stating that the clothes would not be ready until May 4th. Today, May 7th, I arrived to pickup my clothes. Only a few items had been altered. The owner ask for more time to complete the remaining alterations. I refused and paid for the clothes that had been altered. You would think that an establishment advertising one hour alterations would be more efficient. I guess not. The owner was very unapologetic. Further, she wanted to take all of the pins out of the clothes that she hadn't altered. I refused to wait for her to do so. I won't even discuss the overpriced alterations prices. Needless to you, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Unfortunately, I had to give one star. read more

I have been bringing my clothes here for alterations for almost a year now. I was never insanely crazy about the place as it wasn't easy to get to after work with all of the traffic so I always made sure to take my clothes during lunch time and then ask that they be ready during lunch time on the day of the pick up. I have never asked for an unrealistic turn around, usually I say I'll pick them up at noon a week from drop off and then they would write that on my ticket. She does a decent job with alterations as I only had to take something back one time to fix, but the pricing was never consistent in my opinion. Sometimes I would pay over $50 for three items and some times less. As someone who is 5'2 I have to alter pretty much any pair of pants I purchase so to say I brought her a lot of business would be accurate. The final straw was this week when I went to pick up my clothes during lunch time and no one could find them. Um what?? After waiting 10 minutes they informed they "mixed them up" and they weren't ready. What?? You have had them for a week now and they haven't been touched? I did not fight the 5pm Friday traffic to make the trip AGAIN to pick them up when she told me they would be ready but waiting until this morning to go and get them. My total was $66 for three hems and to bring the waist in on a dress. No "sorry for the delay" or knocking off any of the price due to the fact she was negligent with my items. Needless to say I am done with this place and will not be back. read more

After years of needing blue jeans hemmed, it was such a relief to find this tailor who can hem them without it looking like they were hemmed. I was very impressed with their work and with the fact that they can get something done in 1 hour for you. I did ask mine to be done in 3 days and when I showed up, I did have to wait about 15 minutes to pick them up but I'm not complaining otherwise because I was so impressed with their work. Only $14 to hem my jeans! Well worth it! I WILL be going back very soon. read more
