EGGPLANT BASIL
Jade C.

This place is a sleeper and not to be missed. It is so good! We've come here at least 6 times since first discovering it. You can tell it's a local favorite when you dine here because of how busy the restaurant gets and all the foot traffic for takeout. There's not a bad thing on the menu. Our favorite is the pad Thai. It's the best pad Thai I've had anywhere. I'm not sure how "authentic" it is for those crazy Yelpers, but in terms of taste, presentation and the plentifulness of green onions it's the best in my book. Here's what we've tried: Pad Thai 5/5 Pad see ew 4/5 Pumpkin curry 5/5 Tom Kha 4/5 Tom yum 4/5 Garlic prawns 5/5 Mango curry 4/5 Larb salad 5/5 Eggplant basil with tofu 5/5 Lime tea 4/5 Thai tea 5/5

lunch combo: YELLOW CURRY and PAD THAI

we came on a friday shortly after opening and was seated immediately. interior was clean, sunny, and nicely decorated, with nice photos on the walls. service was okay, server was nice but i felt my requests (to-go box/restroom location) felt like i was inconvencing them. i really liked how unique their lunch combo was, as i've never seen pad thai or satay available at any other restaurant before. salad dressing was refreshing and tart. the yellow curry had the perfect amount of spice (for someone who has a very low spice tolerance). the pad thai had much thinner noodles from what i'm used to, but had such good flavor. the shrimps were large and were an extra $2 ON TOP of the provided tofu. for $17 i think it was an excellent deal, with a good amount of food that left me at a good level of fullness.

Another delicious meal at our local treasure I just had a rough day with medical appointed was in a bad mood Fortunately, it occurred to me Vanida Thai is open Mondays and I treated myself to dinner ( take out so I could eat in my pjs!) Tom kha with tofu, pumpkin curry and Thai iced tea. So good!! Instant happiness while I waited in their comfortable dining room ( far too empty) with photos on the wall and clean tables ready to serve A family run establishment with great service Please go support our neighborhood restaurant and enjoy their yummy food

Excellent lunch. Tried 2 different combos and everything was very flavorful and nicely presented.

Stumbled on this Thai restaurant 9 years ago and I'm glad they're still in business. We love their lunch specials at Vanida Thai and they're even available on the weekends. D2 chose the chicken satay and the garlic pork. I had the eggplant with pork and pad thai. Not shown the option for salad or small soup. I had the soup and she had the salad. Very attentive and wildly popular spot for locals. The restaurant itself isn't very big. I honestly should come more often.

This spot is so cute and I love the authentic Thai flavors. My favorite go to dishes are the Tom ka, the yellow chicken curry and the fried yams. The fried yams have a thick tempura style batter and are served with the most delicious peanut sauce. I also love the pad Thai and the green curry when I'm feeling spicy. The service is always great and welcoming. This is the best place to get Thai in the sunset!

I dont often leave reviews but for vanida, the Service was beyond amazing. This is a nice family owned spot and I personally had a tai iced tea with my food and it was superb. Something about the environment indoors that makes it not just a restaurant, but a calming atmosphere. I WILL be coming back and vanida definitely has a new loyal customer.

Yummy Thai Tea, amazing service and best thai food in San Francisco.

Located in a rather dense part of Daly City, but with a little effort, you can find a spot to park. NOTE: There are meters on Mission Street that only take quarters! You order at the counter, then take a seat. Nice variety on the menu, both breakfast and lunch items (eggy thangs & goodness between bread). A couple of Latin items. A small choice of baked goods and a self-serve water station. Ordered "The Scrambled" w/ ham and cheddar, potatoes... no choice on toast, just straight unbuttered wheat, so you'll need to request butter if you want some. Also got a large latte which was delicious! Everything was brought to me, which was nice. Only saw one staffer up front (they weren't busy), and she was super friendly and upbeat. Can't believe I haven't been here before, but I will be back as I'd like to try the Baleada, which is egg, bean, and cheese in a tortilla... simple, but looks tasty. Also, prices were very reasonable! Go, go, GO!

You order and pay at the counter and they'll bring you your dish if you want to dine in. There is metered street parking at the front, but you can find residential parking on the side streets. The ambiance of the cafe was simple, warming and welcoming; a quiet and relaxing vibe. Service overall was great and dish came out decently fast. They cleaned up pretty quickly as well when a table was finished. I wanted something a bit light so I opted for: 1) American Omelette(6.5/10)(~$12) - A decent and light breakfast plate. The omelette was a thin egg omelette a bit of a departure from your usual diner fare. The ham wasn't diced either, it was just 1-2 deli sliced ham placed in between with your choice of cheese(provolone, cheddar or swiss). For sides, you can either get a salad or potatoes. I went with the potatoes and they were grilled really well and seasoned just right. It also came with a sliced wheat bread. It was an okay dish, but if you want something more filling, I would try something else. 2) Drip Coffee(Small)(7/10)($2.75) - Just your usual house coffee. Overall, taste was good without it being overly bitter. A adequate cup of coffee that will wake you up in the morning. Price was very reasonable as well. 3) Pupusas(5.5/10)($4.50) - I ordered a pupusa to go as I wanted to give it a try for lunch. It was an okay pupusa; I ordered the chorizo one....but couldn't really find it in the pupusa when I got home. Just refried beans. It was freshly made though since it took awhile to get it. The pupusas aren't on the menu in the cafe, but it is written on the board outside. It came with a bag of mild salsa and a bag veggies on the side. Overall, I've had better pupusas on the Mission and would skip this. A decent neighborhood spot to grab a quick bite if in the area!

We started with their asparagus appetizer with pickled onion and a very nice aioli with trout and finely chopped walnuts. We're off to a good start with this very well thought out and composed dish. Came on a night when they serve their smashed burgers in brioche bun. It's beefy and flavorful. Very satisfying. The fries are probably twice fried. Crunchy and still retained a semi tender center. It's voodoo magic good. Also tried their sour dough pappardelle. It has a pretty pronounced fresh asparagus note. It's a very satisfying dish. Good thing too because there was still a line for a table even though they were closing in a half hour. The hostess was personable & sweet, despite the fact that it was packed, inside & out. We then headed to Ocean Beach to enjoy our breakfast in the sea air with an ocean view. Crispy on the outside, but custardy in the inside. Not too sweet which is a plus for me; you can always alter the sweetness by asking for extra syrup. I think next time I'll request extra powdered sugar. Don't let the wait & the line scare you away. There's nothing standing between you & a very good Dutch pancake except placing an online order. 4 stars.
