Baked salmon rice with bacon bits and pineapple
    Janice M.

Came on a weekday around 6ish, no wait and plenty of tables Wide selection of baked rice, curry rice, noodles, soups, dessert, etc They had a $36 special meal set that includes one appetizer, two entrees and drink (you choose from a selected menu) We got 1. Roti (appetizer): warm, fluffy and soft. Paired nicely with the nutty sauce 9/10 2. Baked curry rice: very flavorful, beef was tender, there was also a mix of potato and sweet potato in the rice which was a good combo 9/10 3. Baked salmon rice with bacon and pineapple: a tad salty but it paired well with the salmon, and the pineapple added a nice sweetness to the dish 8/10 Overall food was delicious! I would definitely come back

    chicken noodle soup

fantastic food!!! ordered beef fried rice that came out quickly as well as chicken soup that came afterwards. this isn't a place to be in a rush at, it's small and intimate with one staff member.

F O O D +++Baked Seafood Supreme Rice: mix of mussels, scallops, fish, imitation crab, and shrimp in white sauce Vegetarian options: We appreciated the whole page dedicated for vegetarian dishes in the menu! + Vegan Pad Thai - Tropical Bliss: guava ice cream with sago, coconut sauce with chopped mangos, pineapples, and dragonfruit. The mangos were too sour for me and our friends. * They have a lot of meal combos like 2 meals, an appetizer, and 2 drinks for $34. * I thought it was neat that they sold dog treats like yams and liver too! S E R V I C E + We were quick to be seated. Restaurant was empty around 7pm on a Saturday. There was one small group that came in around 9pm. + Our waitress had a lot of patience with our indecisiveness and volume. She's pretty direct with her answers kind of like talking to a Chinese mom which was fine, but I could see that coming off as rude to some people. - The wait for our food did take about an hour from we put in the orders, but we did order 4 baked dishes which normally take an extra 20 minutes at other restaurants. A lot of other reviews mention the slow service and the one-woman-show, so I think having that asterisk on the menu or letting customers know would be helpful in setting expectations. + Accepts card A M B I A N C E + Cozy, casual place on Judah and 44th + Parking: hunt for parking in the suburbs of outer sunset +++ Easy access by Muni N Judah train T L ; D R Don't come hangry expecting fast food. They have a whole page dedicated to vegetarian options and a separate dessert menu which made our lives easier not having to flip through all the pages in the menu mentally sorting leaves and V's. I was excited to find another restaurant serving dishes you'd find at 茶餐廳 (Hong Kong-style cafe) in addition to fusions of other cuisines like Thai, Singaporean, Malaysian, Japanese, and Korean. I was disappointed with the mango dessert; however, I should try the mango dessert again when mangos in season and sweeter. Looking forward to trying the unagi baked dish and clay pots next time!

Mango Medley just reopened on Judah, and I'm glad it did! I tried the baked pork chop with tomato sauce--absolutely delicious. Hard to believe there's still a spot in the Sunset open until midnight. Great location, great food.

3.5 stars. Venmo preferred here. The owner works all stations by herself so plan to be a bit patient when there are other customers in the shop. Mango Bliss, 4 stars - so so good. Love the mix of mango cubes and juice with the yogurt pudding. Deducted a star for the artificial tasting mango ice cream. Baked seafood rice, 4 stars - comes packed with seafood, good value. Too much cheese and shelled seafood still sandy. Sesame soup silken tofu (tofu-fa), 3 stars, the sesame dessert soup a bit thinner than I prefer and the tofu is not smooth and thin enough.

Stopped by here late night around 10pm looking for some dinner after work. Was kinda skeptical about the reviews, but gave it a try anyways because i looked at the pictures and everything looked delicious. Seriously to me reviews are hit and miss. A lot of it had to with waiting and service not the food if you actually read it. Thats the bad thing about yelp. People tend to just look at the rating and dont bother to read the reviews. When they see the 3 star they automatically skip the restaurant without even given the place a chance which is a damn shame!! Anyways im soooo glad i came! Hong Kong style cha chan teng / lunch spot Dessert and rice/noodles all the best yummy food you can imagine when you go to a HK style diner. I ordered a Baked Cheese seafood spaghetti, TomYum seafood noodle soup, Fruit grass jelly and a Ying Yang sesame paste dessert 5 star all around. Everything was perfect and delicious. Only complaint was the wait was kinda long and thats because the sweet lady is the waiter and cook herself im thinking. Which I don't blame her i mean help is expensive and if she can handle it why tf not. Mom and pop shops are hard to maintain as it is so please give these small shops a break and have some patience. They try their hardest to give their best and have the best prices. This sweet lady does everything alone till very late at night. Imagine someone giving her a bad review not for the food but for waiting a few extra minutes. This is my new go to HK diner spot from now on! Nice and cozy inside also but parking can be kinda tricky on Judah

Oxtail and short ribs over rice
    Karen T.

So we randomly drove by and saw this place reopened, I had no clue they opened since March apparently. We were the only people in the restaurant and then another couple came after us. I found it odd our dessert came out before our main entree. The oxtail and beef ribs over rice was good, if you like it more on the sweeter side, which I didn't mind. Mango sticky rice was also good. But I got home and realized they charged us $0.50 for a Togo box!! I've never seen that one before! I know they charge for bags, which we never got, but not for a box! Shoukd I bring my own Tupperware out next time lol.

Friends recommended this spot for Chinese dessert claiming Mango Medley is the best spot in town. Walked into the store around 8pm, and the store was empty. There was only one lady working at the storefront and more or less ignored us while we sat and studied our menu. After placing 4 orders of dessert for our party of 4, the lady told us we could not eat at the store because we did not hit the minimum. Our party ended up ordering a little more, but when we asked her for sharing plate, she said she would need to charge for it. Same thing when we asked for water. So the summary of my visit is: Grumpy lady, bad service, mediocre dessert. $10 min per person. Try at your own risk.

    Pork belly and fish (#3)

The food says it all. A hidden gem near the Ocean side of the Sunset District. If you are not in a hurry and love to support small businesses, this is a diamond waiting to be discovered and pursued. The process required patience, but the end product was worth the wait! I got the oxtail and rib special and the meats were falling off the bone, sweetly, and tenderly - dancing in well-rehearsed flavors that jumped and leaped exponentially in my mouth. The moment was SPECIAL. I savored the moment. Literally, I did. My friend got the pork belly and fish dish; and her dish was just as precious. I couldn't pick a favorite because both dishes left me appreciating the hard work that created a SOUL satisfying dish. I am, DEFINITELY, coming again! It was worth the LONG WAIT!

Baked rice with egg and bolognese sauce.

I don't know how my as many times I've passed this place, but something told me on this Sunday afternoon it was time to give it a try. Yes, it's a one person operation. And yes, though I was the only person in the place, I did wait for my food. But it was well worth it. The baked rice with egg and bolognese sauce was delicious and couldn't have tasted more homemade even if it came from my own kitchen. Comfort food at its best. I'll definitely be returning in the future.

This place finally reopened, and we were excited to try it! First off, the place is very clean and spacious. Second off, the lady was very kind and lovely. I can tell that the place isn't completely up and running yet, as it just reopened. But she was very gracious in accommodating us. The food is spectacular, large portions and delicious. We ordered the Rice Bolognese and Chicken fridge rice. Both were very good, flavorful and large portions! Will definitely go back!

IF YOU DONT'T HAVE ONE ONCE OF PATIENCE, DO NO COME HERE!! I don't know how much love I have for this restaurant. It used to be on Judah/44th loooong time ago. When she first moved to this current location, it was hard to find because she haven't changed the old name and the awning. And STILL she haven't change it and only added decal on the windows. I get it, it's expensive but it'll help customers find it easier and attract more customers. But I LOVE the easy parking compare to Judah/44. Sooooo easy! You can literally park in front of the restaurant or just across the street. She runs the place by herself. Shopping, cleaning, prepping, cooking, taking orders, serving, dishes, busing. EVERYTHING!! She's really straight forward, no bullshit but she means well. If you don't understand that, don't come here either. The food will take long, but it's definitely worth it. I have been here with many friends, many times, many occasions and many nights. I love how she gives you options to mix and match. And allllll of those times, the food was tasty, delicious, hot, fresh, flavorful and fulfilling.

The food was good, although it wasn't quite as memorable as it used to be. The spicy boneless chicken was crispy, juicy, and flavorful, but there was absolutely no spice. I'd rate it 4/5 because if you order something labeled "spicy," you expect at least a little heat! The pork buns were decent. The pork and fresh cucumbers were delicious, but the bun itself was a little leathery. The biggest disappointment was the house hot sake. It tasted different than I remembered, and after pouring our second round, we poured out a fruit fly that had been inside the bottle. That definitely ended our sake for the night. I hope the restaurant inspects bottles before serving them, as that's something that can easily ruin an otherwise enjoyable meal. Despite those issues, the outstanding service is what earned this visit five stars. With a little more spice in the spicy chicken and better quality control on the sake, it'll be easy to make an already good restaurant even better. We'll definitely be back.

We arrived about an hour before closing, and quite a few menu items had already sold out. Our server was incredibly attentive, kind, and genuinely apologetic about the limited availability, even though it was completely understandable given the time. He made us feel welcomed and taken care of throughout the meal. We ordered the Classic Trio, which includes an appetizer, hot pot soup, and a main dish. For the appetizer, we chose Mama Mu's chicken wings, and they were absolutely phenomenal. They were coated in garlic, fish sauce, and a delicious glaze that hit the perfect balance of savory, sweet, and umami. Easily one of the highlights of the meal. For the hot pot, we went with the tom yum soup. It was sour, spicy, tomato-forward, and packed with a nice amount of heat. My only critique was that the meat portion was a little sparse, especially since we paid extra for the wagyu beef. Our main dish was the Pad Thai, which came topped with an egg omelet, chicken and tofu. It was a solid Pad Thai--though not the standout dish of the night. For dessert, we ordered the mango sticky rice and wow. The blue rice was perfectly sweet, rich, and coated in coconut goodness. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Between the warm hospitality, cozy atmosphere, and yum dishes, Mama Mu's Bistro is a Thai spot we'd happily return to.

That's Sautéed ground protein of your choice with basil and chile. Even the "mild" has a bit of a punch. There is a side of blue rice that helps cut some of the heat. The rice is topped with a fried kind of over medium egg. Overall its a really good dish. Just be warned about the heat. The lunch specials all come with iced tea and tom yum soup. I had a bit of my Wife's soup...its really flavorful. A bit of sour offset by the earthiness of cilantro. There is only a single unisex bathroom, but its clean and well stocked. Very roomy and well lit. I will definitely come back... quality to cost ratio is definitely on the High Value side.

San Tung was one of the only busy spots on Irving Street during a weekday lunch hour, which felt like a promising sign. We were seated pretty quickly at a large round table across from two other diners, which was totally fine. And after looking around at everyone's tables, it was clear that these two dishes were the most popular items. Since this was my first time trying the dry fried chicken wings, I was surprised that they came out coated in a thick, sticky sauce--so not necessarily "dry" in the way I expected. Flavor-wise, they leaned more sweet than savory. I think this dish would be a big hit for people who enjoy sweet and sour or kung pao-style chicken, which isn't usually my personal preference. My husband definitely enjoyed them though, so I can see why they have such a loyal following. The black bean noodles were warm and comforting, with a nice homey feel. The sauce had good flavor, although I thought it leaned a little bland and wasn't quite as thick or rich in texture as I personally prefer. Overall, San Tung was a fun spot to finally try, especially given how much hype surrounds those wings. I'd definitely come back with a bigger group of friends so we could order more dishes and get a better feel for the menu, but I probably wouldn't come back on my own for anything in particular.

Filet mignon and divers scallops - this dish had way too many ideas going on, I think if it was pared down it would be more cohesive. However this was my mom's favorite. The dish had lap cheung (Chinese sausage) which I thought was a tomato at first, pate, a unique-looking fried egg that was yolk, then white, then yellow on top of rice, scallops, onions, Laughing Cow cheese, served with a thick slice of milk bread. The scallops were huge and tasty, but felt out of place and were overpowered if you ate it with the pate. Without it, the rest of the dish would have made more sense to me as a take on a "steak and eggs" breakfast. The braised oxtail was a really innovative take on bo kho. It was like Vietnamese lasagna, with a sheet of rice noodle layered on top of baked Bolognese sauce. The rice noodle had a cilantro sauce, but it was hard to tell or taste when you mixed it with the tomato sauce. It was served with bread and shallot aoili, and while the aioli was absolutely delicious, I didn't understand where I was supposed to eat it with the dish. I made sure to take it home though for another use. This was my dad's favorite. The fried whole fish was solid as usual, though pretty pricey. I've gotten this every time and I don't remember if the accompaniments are always the same, but I think the sauce was. Tonight's dinner got the highest praise from my parents - "expensive but worth it"!!

Food tasted good…read more Service was absolutely not. We placed our orders and our server forgot what we ordered despite having a pen and paper. We gave it to him again and he still managed to not get the entire order. Came back with one drink and forgot about the other. Reminded him again. He Came back with the other drink and spilled it while trying to slide it over the table. He also missed the iced coffees to go at the end so I would say the mandatory 20% charge on service was not deserved at all. Very disappointing Father's Day sit in meal.
