    Beef noodle soup
    Tracy L.

I've seen so many restaurants come and go at this sunset location for so many years, so I was pretty excited to try this place out! They specialize in Lanzhou-style hand-pulled beef noodles, and you can actually watch them make the noodles fresh right when you walk in. The space is also super cute with panda decor throughout. I got the signature beef noodle soup. The broth was light bur flavorful, and the noodles had a great chewy texture (you can even choose the style of the noodles). My friends and I also shared cucumber salad and lamb skewers, which were my favorite. I normally don't like lamb but this was SO GOOD. Perfectly grilled, well-seasoned, and super tender.

Walking into the restaurant, I felt excited to eat and slurp some delicious noodles! It gives a nice warm vibe when you walk in. Everything on the menu looked good but to my surprise the food was lacking in many aspects. I don't even know how to describe my disappointment but it tasted nothing like I imagined it to taste like. Three stars because the food was still edible. The service was also lacking.

I was actually really impressed with this place! We got to the restaurant around 5:45 PM and only a few tables were occupied, but it started getting pretty busy around 6:30-7 PM. We were seated right away and ordered through a QR code, which I personally love because it makes everything quick and easy. We started with the rainbow xiaolong bao and they were really good. The pork filling was flavorful and the wrapper wasn't too thick. They also came out really hot, which made them even more delicious. We also shared the beef pancake rolls, which were super tasty. The pancake itself was perfectly crisp and the beef was cooked really well. The string beans were also really flavorful. My favorite dish of the night was the big beef noodle soup. We ordered it with thin noodles and mild spice. The broth was rich and comforting and pretty spicy for mild. The noodles tasted really fresh, and the portion size was huge. The restaurant was clean and the staff were attentive. I'd definitely come back - and I'd love to bring my parents here next time!

Less than a year old, this Northern China-style noodle house drew my attention when I was riding the L-Taraval to Ocean Beach, but surprisingly I didn't order their signature hand-pulled noodles. I was feeling particularly carb-averse that day and noticed they offer a more diverse menu than I would've expected given the name. It's pretty spacious in here and rather empty in the middle of a Thursday afternoon. I decided to try two of their small plates. First up was the $7.98 Black Fungus Salad, which sounded more ominous than it was, a pile of marinated wood ear mushrooms (Photo 9). I liked it, mostly for the chewy texture. Then came the $7.98 Lamb Skewers (Photo 10). Grilled and pretty tasty with the cumin seasoning a nice touch. I need to come back for the true noodle experience when I feel like carbs can be my friend. Otherwise I won't get my panda merit badge. OK, I made that part up. FOOD - 4 stars...didn't try the noodles but other plates also satisfy AMBIANCE - 4 stars...wide open in here SERVICE - 3.5 stars...cordial enough TOTAL - 4 stars...where's my panda merit badge? Great for a quick bite! Service was quick and friendly. Order through QR code at the table and the restaurant was clean. Loved the beef noodle (thick noodles). The noodles could be chewier but overall solid. The pan fried dumplings were not juicy which was a let down and could have been fried more on the bottom. It was more soggy / drier than expected.

Our group walked in and we waited for around 5 minutes since the waiters were pretty busy with the tables. We ordered a pretty wide spread of noodles and dumplings. I personally ordered the fried pork bun and the xiao long bao. The fried pork buns can in a plate of three and they were huge. Unfortunately, because of how big the fried pork bun was, the meat was a little dry in the middle. It also didn't have much flavor which was disappointing. As for the xlb, it didn't come super hot but it tasted fine. For the price (there was 5 of us and our total was $150), I recommend going with a group since there's something for everyone!

We ordered the traditional beef noodle combo, beef ribs with clear broth noodles, lamb chops, and the beef pancake roll. The noodles are nicely chewy, and everything tastes great! The staff are friendly, and we really enjoy the atmosphere here--especially with HK pop star Keung To's music playing. We'll definitely visit again!

    Stir fried thin noodles

Arrived on a Monday at around 6:30pm and we were seated quickly. Ordered using the QR code and the food arrived fairly quickly. The portion sizes were decent. I ordered the Stir Fried Thin Noodles - good flavor and I liked the texture of the noodles. Had plenty to take home to eat for lunch the next day. Hubs ordered the Big Platter Chicken - quite a bit a chicken pieces and he liked the flavor. He also packed half of his dish to take home. Kiddo ordered the Beef Noodle combo which came with the cucumber salad and lamb skewers. He enjoyed the noodles and the cucumber salad was enough to share with the table. The lamb skewers had good flavor but he would've preferred them to be grilled a tad longer. The waitstaff brought us our dishes, but otherwise they didn't really check on us. We refilled our own water/tea cups and grabbed our own takeaway containers. Otherwise, food was enjoyable and we'd return to try other items.

Noodle Panda has taken over the former Hot Pot Garden, Simmer, Prime, Best Kept Secret space on Taraval. The interior is exactly the same as before. It's a large dining room setup that feels more like a formal dining spot than a casual noodle house. The previous management changed their concepts so many times, but it's nice to see something more straightforward take over. There is a bar with beer taps on the left side by the kitchen that currently is not being utilized, likely due to licensing. It's a lot of unused space, and having beer available would really help Noodle Panda differentiate itself from nearby competitors, especially given how spacious the dining room is and happy hour before the dinner rush. I came for lunch and had little to no wait, though there is a waitlist at the door. Ordering is done by a QR code at the table, but if you are not familiar with technology, you can flag down a server and they can take your order on a tablet. I ordered the beef noodle soup combo with two lamb skewers. The menu is fairly extensive, with options like xiao long bao, pan-fried buns, beef pancakes, and more. You can choose the noodle thickness from thin to thick and tou can watch the cook handpulling noodles through the window near the entrance. The soup was very clear and easy to drink, but a bit light and not particularly rich in flavor. The beef was tender, and the lamb skewers were solid with that familiar cumin seasoning you expect from Chinese skewers. Service was minimal. Aside from bringing hot tea, there was not much interaction with the servers unless you are paying or having plates bussed. You have to ask for hot tea refills, since customers aren't allowed to handle hot water, but ice water is self service. Utensils and condiments are already set at each table, so once your food arrives, you are on your own. Overall, Noodle Panda shows promise, especially with the hand pulled noodles and generous space, but with better utilization of the bar area, it could potentially become a solid spot on Taraval, especially with no shortage of competition for dumpling restaurants, they can offer beer or even a happy hour to differentiate themselves.

===TL;DR=== - House special chow main w/ wide noodle - Rare beef rice noodle soup with vermicelli, no cilantro ===TMI=== - no cilantro: noodle still came with cilantro. Told the worker and he said he those are green onion. I had to point them out specifically before he told action. told them but that guy was new - Still had cilantro in the dish after he came back with another bowl - Hair/ lint in soup Came here on a Tuesday evening, parking is all luck since that's how Taraval street is. No one greeted when entered until we made it obvious since we're not sure if we needed to be seated or seat ourselves. Got seated, QR code menu to order. The food was underwhelming. For my rare beef rice noodle soup I specified no cilantro. The noodle soup still came with cilantro. I flagged the worker and told him that but his first respond was those are green onions. I had to point them out specifically before he agreed. He then said oh right, I saw your order and it said no cilantro and I told them that but (they still put cilantro in) the guy was new. He kindly took the bowl away and came back with it moments later (assuming they picked out the cilantro instead of making a new bowl). Little did I know, there were still cilantros in it. So therefore at this point, I had to pick them out myself. The bowl of noodle itself was quite bland and the condiments on the table didn't really help make it better. In addition to that, I also found a piece of hair in my soup - disgusting. The house special chow main was also just alright. The noodle was on the chewer hard side but at least they gave a good portion of shrimps. We specifically choose wide noodle on the ordering page as it ask to choose wide or knife cut. When it came out, it was just thin noodles... what's the point of choosing? After I finished my meal, I requested for checkout on the website (from the QR code order). It states that the staff is notified and will bring the check over. I've waited but no action was taken. As I look over, all I saw was the staff was eating something. It wasn't a busy night and there were two staffs working... could have been more efficient. The staff also didn't ask us if we want water/ tea until the food was served... thought that was a little late.

    Liangfen
    Belinda C.

Noodle Panda is a clean, spacious, modern space with light wooden, orange, and cute panda decor. It's located on Taraval St near 19th or Highway 1. You need to find street parking. There are QR code menus, but given mobile service seemed spotty inside the restaurant, servers were willing and ready to take your order. I ordered Spicy Pig Ear, Liangfen, and Traditional Hand Pulled Beef Noodle. The Liangfen was my least favorite. I was hoping the noodles would be chewier and firmer. The black vinegar flavor was strong, but we still easily finished the dish. I enjoyed the other 2 dishes a lot and would reorder them. Flavorful and fun to eat. The hand pulled noodles were long, so we got scissors to cut them. Lots of beef in the soup. The handmade noodles come in 6 shapes: Extra Thin, Thin, Thick, Flat, Wide, and Knife Cut. I think the default or regular noodle is the Thin. My friend wants to try Knife Cut next time. The huge table with utensils, water and tea dispensers are meant for the servers only. They prefer to refill the tea for you, so you don't accidentally burn yourself. Fun authentic Chinese menu with lots of items I would try: Rainbow Xiaolong Bao or XLB, Spicy Chili Oil Beef, Beef Pancake Rolls, Chinese Burger (Pork/Beef), Big Beef Rib Noodles, Poached Fish in Chili Oil, and Fish in Pickled Cabbage & Chili Soup. Lamb is served here as well. If you're a local who likes the food and can visit regularly, I suggest asking a server about becoming a member. You get discounted prices on certain dishes. You prepay $100, but you get $150 restaurant credit. I visited in early December 2025, which is around Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas time, so maybe that's why it was such a good membership deal. I highly recommend trying Noodle Panda.

    Braised beef hand pulled noodles
    Caitlyn M.

New Chinese restaurant on Taraval that specializes in handmade noodles! It's spacious, clean, and well lit. You order from the QR code on the napkin boxes. I like that you can customize the type of noodles (unless it's a rice noodle dish). They have noodle soups and stir fried noodle dishes. I came for a late dinner on a Tuesday at 7:30pm and was seated right away. I got the braised beef noodle soup with knife cut noodles and the pan fried pork baos. The portions were generous and noodles were good, you could tell they were made fresh. The soup was not as flavorful as I wanted it to be but it came with a good amount of beef. The pan fried baos came in a serving of 3. They were pretty big and the filling was juicy. The table had chili oil and black vinegar for condiments. They didn't have any soy sauce on the table so we asked the waiter for some and they brought some over which went well with the pan fried buns. The highlights were the handmade noodles, the affordability & large portion sizes, and the nice interior. I would come back to try something else.

    The best skewers

Noodle panda is one of the best kept secrets of the Sunset! The food is all fresh and delicious -- I would highly recommend the lamb skewers that come with some of the noodle combos. The skewer was cooked to perfection with incredibly tender meat that was still moist. Service was simple, but quick and efficient . They have a lot of space so it's a great place for families or large friend groups.

We were a large group of 15, including several kids, and we completely understand that the restaurant is small and accommodating a group our size can be challenging. We waited in line for almost an hour with around 6 children. During the wait, a staff member named Sue came outside, asked how many people were in our group, and handed us menus. Since it was our first visit, we were naturally asking questions and trying to understand the menu. Unfortunately, throughout the interaction, her body language and expressions felt impatient and unwelcoming. There was visible frustration and eye-rolling, which made us feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. Even after we were seated, the experience continued to feel tense. One of the toddlers in our group started crying briefly -- something fairly common with young children -- and we were told to "keep it low out of respect." While we absolutely respect other diners, the way it was communicated felt lacking in empathy, especially on a busy Mother's Day with families dining out. A small gesture of kindness or understanding could have gone a long way. Instead, my friend felt compelled to take the child outside, which was disappointing. Additionally, after being seated, we had to remind the staff multiple times to come take our orders. What makes this especially unfortunate is that the ramen itself was truly delicious and lived up to the hype. The food was excellent, which is why this experience was so disappointing overall. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customer service and hospitality matter just as much as the food experience. Unfortunately, this was not the ideal way to end our Mother's Day celebration.

We ordered the lowest level of spiciness and while there was still a kick, it was extremely manageable. SERVICE: We were the first to be seated and our galbi jim took almost 20 minutes to come out while others waited even longer. However, they comped our garlic noodles and apologized for turning waits. Overall, I'd definitely return if I'm able to get into the first wave of seating.

Came here on a Friday night at 7:30. Had to wait about 30-40 min for 2 seats. The restaurant is…read moresmall so unless you have a 4-6 person party, expect to be seated side by side other parties. Typically what I saw was they do waves of seating and ordering so if you aren't there right at open/when they fill up, plan to write your name down and grab a drink nearby. Once we got seated, they were pretty prompt to give us utensils, napkins, cups, and water. The two of us shared the Braise Beef Galbi Stew. It's more than enough for 2 people to go home in food comas (with some food remaining) and for 3 to be sufficiently full. If you have big eaters, order an app alongside if you have 3 people. The Galbi stew was exceptional. I liked that they had various levels of spiciness. We went with spicy and it had a nice kick that elevated the dish for me. The beef was very tender and flavorful and the veggies and rice cakes soaked up all the juices. And the cheese was so stretchy! I'd actually rank this place slightly above Daeho given the shorter wait, the quality, and the price. I'll be back for sure.
