Our server was friendly and nice. We ordered about 5 dishes. Dried Fried chicken Wings - $18.99 - It had a spicy sauce, the wings were not as fried or crunchy as I expected. It was soft texture instead. Pork Xiao Long Bao - $15.99 - Pretty normal, was piping hot when got to table. Fairly new place in the Sunset. The restaurant is bright and airy with high ceilings and two floors of dining. Numerous angled parking spots on busy Noriega. We had the boiled shrimp and chive dumplings, the salt & pepper fried tofu cubes, dried beef chow fun, and red bean paste pancake for dessert. All were tasty and good. I recommend sticking to their dumplings. Their five spice braised beef noodle soup was just okay. I thought the noodle consistency/texture was weird. The broth was on the bland side - may be a different style because it was not the same color at all. We did enjoy their dumplings and potstickers though. I can't say it's better than Dumpling Home or Din Ding but they scratched the XLB itch well. I like how they also offer hong kong style milk tea. XLB was very good - nice and soupy on the inside and the price was a good deal. I would order again. String beans - nicely crunchy and sauteed. It wasn't too salty and I would say that's my second fav next to the XLB. Shanghai noodles - this was okay. It needed more WOK flavor and it could use more salt in this dish. But the noodles was a good consistency. Pork + corn dumplings - this was wasn't bad but it was okay. I guess I was hoping for more flavor inside. The skin was a tad thicker. Highly recommend coming to Dumpling Bites if you're on/near Noriega and looking for a place to eat. We came by for a late lunch and the place had plenty of tables and we were seated immediately. Our staff was quick to get plates and menus brought out for us. We ordered the following: - salt and pepper fish - beef and cilantro soup - green onion pancake - wontons in chili oil - pork and napa cabbage dumplings - dry fried chicken wings My favorite by far was the salt and pepper fish. You get a giant mound of food but the dish wasn't heavy at all - the fish fillets are super light and flaky and the breading was light and fluffy - I liken it to eating potato chips - once you start, you can't stop until the entire thing is gone. The soup was very fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot for us. Green onion pancakes were crispy, but not greasy. The wonton/dumplings were freshly made in house, the dumplings even came out in the steamer they use to cook it. The chicken wings were covered in a sweet and spicy glaze sauce and the chicken meat was super tender and juicy. All in all, the food was amazing, and we all left very satisfied. read more

Dim Sum Dreams After a Golden Gate Park Run Totally stumbled on this spot after driving in from Sacramento to run Golden Gate Park starting at Ocean Beach. One of us had a random post-run craving for dim sum--and wow, what a find! There was a bit of a wait (Sunday brunch rush, so fair enough), but it moved pretty quickly. The interior was super cute, but we opted to wait outside for a table. Pro tip: they didn't seem to be calling out names to folks waiting outside, so we might have missed our name the first time around. Definitely worth checking in periodically if you're waiting outside. We rolled in hungry and ordered a little bit of everything for five of us: shu mai, chili oil dumplings, garlic bok choy, house ribs, eggplant, garlic string beans, dry beef chow fun, salt & pepper wings, kung pao chicken, and three sides of rice. Yes, we went all in. No regrets. Literally everything hit. The flavors were bold, portions generous, and nothing felt overly greasy or heavy. If we had to be picky, the shu mai and ribs weren't our faves (still solid, just not as standout), and we probably could've done just fine with two servings of rice. I am a beef chow fun lover, and this one was definitely top of list. All of us agreed the eggplant, string beans and wings were faves too. Overall? Dumpling Bites is a nice unassuming restaurant from the outside and easy to miss. I am glad that I didn't miss it as the food, service, and overall ambiance was great. This time we ordered rice cakes, potstickers, xlbs, fried rice, and a couple of drink specials. The rice cakes were the standout this time. It was cooked perfectly to my liking with just a bit of char and some great flavor from the pork and veggies. I have been here before and highly recommend their Dan Dan noodles as well! XLB 4.7/5: I love xlb and theirs were so good! Skin's thin but does not stick to the paper or rip when you pick it up. Meats flavorful. A ton of soup in each one. I usually put vinegar and chili on my xlb, but these had so much flavor that I actually preferred it without. With the summer deal going on, I'll definitely be back for more. Pork with preserved vegetable rice cake 3.5/5: this would have been a 4.5/5 had it not been overly salted. It was recommended by the waitress. Good flavor and wok hei. There was some nice crust on some of the chewy rice cake which added even more of a textural component. There was plenty of pork but not enough egg. Pan fried pork bun 4/5: the bun itself is really good compared to other places. It actually tastes like a bao from a Chinese bakery. Good sear on the bottom. Thoroughly cooked dough throughout and not too thick. Meat was very umami with a decent amount of soup inside. Street parking was easy and free. Plenty of table with no wait on a Friday at 1pm. All our food came out on time. The rundown: 1. Pork + Pork&Crab XLB: One of the most juiciest ever. Get it if you're a fan of lots of soup. It could be more flavorful but I was impressed by how the skins did not break even once. 2. Shredded Chicken + Pork Belly: Nice chilled appetizer. Heavy on the green onions and garlic. I loved this, it's addicting! 3. Green Beans: Crispy and not drowned with sauce. Truly was "dry-fried." 4. Staff was so so friendly! Plenty of street parking, but if you go on a weekend it can get tough in the sunset district! The restaurant has a very chill and open vibe. Definitely not DTF or any of the more popular dumpling spots, but it hits! Beef noodle soup and the pan friend white dumpling buns were my fave :) ate it so fast i forgot to snap a pic!
