Menu - noodles and rice/jook (congee)
    Michael F.

Found this charming little new restaurant after dropping our dog off at the Ocean Avenue Vet clinic a block away and on my way to Whole Foods. Family run restaurant with very reasonable prices. Serves authentic Chinese noodle and won ton soup that are very tasty. Have your noodles with beef tendon, char siu, and/or wonton either with yummy hot broth or lo mein style. If really hungry or sharing your noodles try adding one of their popular rice roll noodles dishes or dim sum. The rice noodles are different from your typical dim sum restaurants in that there are several flat rice noodle layers and folded over. I find the food comparable to other noodle shops in the Sunset or Richmond. Give this spot a try if you're near the City College or Ocean Avenue area and need some good old Chinese comfort food!

Nice quiet spot with comfort food right by CCSF and across from Whole Foods. Ordered the shrimp roll which came in huge portions of crepe noodles (more noodle to shrimp ratio). You can choose your filling and I chose corn and cabbage. The preserved egg with pork congee tasted like there were other ingredients like salted fish which I wasn't use to. The hot sauce was good and complimented everything well. The jasmine tea was rich and flavorful. Staff friendly and attentive and refilled my tea which was nice. Open to coming back and trying other menu items. About eight tables seating 2-4 each.

A pretty good and affordable spot to scratch the dim sum itch. I got 3 items and the congee was my favorite. A very big and hearty bowl for $6 with lots of century egg, which I very much enjoy. The ha gow was not bad, nothing stood out. The siu mai was good but the wrapper unraveled easily. Overall, it's still a good deal and good service, with the worker checking in often. They accept cash and credit card which is convenient.

Pork rice rolls (look at how thick the rice rolls are )

Went in the afternoon and ordered the pork rice rolls. There was no line maybe cuz it was already past lunch time. The rice roll was no good. The rice roll was so thick that it didn't feel like rice rolls. I heard that the cook in the back said that the batter was too thick and he had to add water. If your restaurant specializes in rice rolls shouldn't your batter be perfected no matter what time of day it is? If you are looking for rice rolls go to Joyful kitchen which is like 9 blocks away.

Simple menu, excellent items. No frills ambiance. Fair pricing. One server taking orders, but fast and attentive. Loved the beef stew wonton noodle soup. The chili oil is delicious and garlicky. I would go back

My son LOVES the food here and often orders BBQ pork noodle soup; he brought home an order for me. Dim The Way's bowl is generous with pork, bok choy and Hong Kong noodles however I found their broth a bit sweet; I prefer a more savory broth. Other plates and bowls may differ, I'll have to see. Dim the Way excels as an inexpensive spot in an "ocean" of unhealthy (McDonald's) or expensive (Whole Foods) places to grab lunch off campus. Clean interior, amazing service (they treat my boy so well) and the food is good, healthy and very well-priced. 4.75 stars bumped up to 5!

The place is so good that we went here two weeks in a row. First time we went, it was around 6pm on a Friday night and there were only 2 tables with people there and the next time we went, we went at 6:30pm on a Wednesday and there weren't any tables taken, so please support this business! They serve you some tea (might be Jasmine) that is pretty fragrant and nice to drink while eating or warming yourself up on a cold day. Food wise, first time we got: Mince pork roll ($6.80) - 4.5/5 Mince beef roll ($7.80) - 4.5/5 Century Egg and Pork Congee ($5.99) - 5/5 Beef Stew wonton Lo Mein ($13.99) - 4.5/5 The rolls tasted like they were all freshly made. Adding the bottle of sauce at the table along with the chili crisp made the dishes super delicious. What was especially good was the Congee. Sometimes when you get Porridge at a place, it tastes watered down, but this place the Porridge is super flavorful and you don't even need to add anything to the Porridge. The wontons in the lo Mein is also packed with flavor. The stew consisted of beef with tendon. Some tendon might not be as tender as you want, but the chili oil once again makes it tastes really good. Second time we got: Mince pork roll ($6.80) - 4.5/5 Mince BBQ roll ($7.80) - 4/5 Century Egg and Pork Congee ($5.99) - 5/5 Beef Stew Wonton Noodle Soup ($13.99) - 4.5/5 All were still good, especially the Congee and the wontons, but this time there were 6 wontons in the noodle soup, but adding the chili crisp is a must. They'll even give you extra sauce if you want. The BBQ meat in the roll was decent but not as flavorful as I thought it'd be. Service was quick and they were pretty good about refilling your tea. And if you want to share dishes, they'll give you extra bowls. 5/5 I would definitely come back again to try their dim sum.

Dim This Way is a small family-run business. We found them on Yelp during our search for Rice Rolls and they did not disappoint. I've had my share of rice rolls during my Flushing, NY rice roll food crawl, along with other places in the city and in the Vancouver area. We ordered four different ones. * Minced Pork Roll $6.80 - This was the favorite for the Little Guy and Little Gal. * Beef Brisket Roll $9.80 - The Husband and I really enjoyed this one, especially with the bits of tendon. Yum! We appreciated the flavor of the sauce for this one too. * Shrimp Roll $7.80 * BBQ Pork Roll $7.80 The other two were good as well, but the top two just happened to be our favorite. The rice rolls are made to order, so they do take awhile coming out one by one. We wouldn't have it any other way. I also think their portions are quite generous and appreciate how it was cut for serving. It's just perfect for sharing. The additional soy and chili oil add the extra kick if you need it. (I just noticed that you get free toppings when you order two - corn, lettuce, green onions, or coriander. Bummer we missed out on that.) Service was great. The young girl was friendly and checked on us. Tea is still free here with plenty of refills! You definitely don't get that service at other places serving rice rolls in the city. Other items on the menu are all under $14 and range from Lo Mein, Wonton Soup, Noodle Soup, Rice Plates, Congee, and a few Dim Sum items. 4.5 stars

This is such a hold in the wall spot!! Prices were amazing - with most dishes under $10 (which is unheard of these days). The portions are also huge which makes everything super good value. We ordered wonton noodle soup, there were lots of wontons and a good amount of noodles, the broth was super clean and didn't taste too salty which is my preferred. For rice rolls, we ordered the bbq pork and shrimp. Both plates were decently sized but I felt like the rice noodle ratio to meat was a little bit too much. Certain pieces only had one shrimp in an entire section. The bbq pork was a little better, each bite had smaller pieces of bbq pork. Service was great, we asked for sharing plates and bowls and they gave it to us right away.

No menus being thrown at us? No *eye rolls* or *scoffs*? When it comes to Chinesey restos, service usually takes a backseat to the food and I'm perfectly fine with that. So it was a pleasant surprise how customer service oriented Dim The Way's owner and staff are. And, I'm not mad at that. Soft opening last week, Dim The Way took over 21 Taste House (next to Beep's Burgers). Grand opening is in November. Takeout and indoor dining only. Delivery via Fantuan to come. Current hours of operation: Open everyday 9 am - 9 pm. No phone number yet. M E N U Cantonese fare: Dim sum, rice noodle rolls, lo mein, and noodle soups. More items to come. Complimentary hot tea. CC's accepted. With CCSF several blocks away, they should consider adding student specials esp with many going to next door for tea/coffee at Diamond Coffee n' Pastry. F O O D * Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll 鲜虾肠粉 ($7.80): https://tinyurl.com/4ka3afcm Housemade entirely from scratch (they mill their own rice flour), the rice noodle roll was soft and supple with a satisfying chew and elasticity. Filled with fresh, firm shrimp that's been properly deveined. Served over sweet soy (more available tableside). Very solid. * Beef Stew & Wonton Lo Mien 牛腩云吞捞面 ($12.99): https://tinyurl.com/6489tarj - Add wonton (+$1) Traditional Canto dish of thin, chewy egg noodles tossed in a light sauce topped with braised rough flank and tendons. Several leafy choy sum was included. Savory and delicious with the meltingly soft beef and gelatinous tendons being the highlight. For an extra $1, they included five pork wonton. On soft side, I prefer my noodles with firm springy bite. Don't forget to try their housemade chili oil for a spicy kick. S E R V I C E Warm, gracious, and attentive. The sweet server was outside greeting passersby, checked in with us several times, and kept our tea glasses full. The owner-chef came outside to the dining area to ask for feedback on taste and portion sizes which I greatly appreciated. A M B I A N C E Bright with calming blue walls and eight tables. P A R K I N G Street parking only. Overall, if you're looking for wallet-friendly Canto comfort food that's open all day, give this new small business a try!

So, I think these guys really like the color green. There are green walls, green seats, green tipped plates....oh and a green awning to boot! Anyway, green aside, I really enjoyed this new restaurant on Ocean. It doesn't have a ton of dim sum items despite the naming but we had the shu mai, cantonese dumpling, wonton noodle soup, and the rice roll and they were all quite delicious! The rice roll skin was rather thin which was very nice, and everything from the noodles to the shu mai tasted homemade instead of bought. I'll be back!

This place is relatively new and replaced my favorite ramen spot, so I decided to give it a try. Everything was good overall. You get two free toppings with your rice noodle rolls, the wontons were good, and while the shui mai could have been a little smaller, it still tasted fine. Overall, it's a simple spot that works well if you're craving rice noodle rolls.

tldr: inviting local spot serving up affordable and tasty Cantonese (all day) breakfast staples, like wonton noodles, steamed rice rolls, dim sum, etc. Honestly, I still refuse to believe I live in an area with such an abundance of great restaurants. Dim the Way replaced what I considered to be one of the best hidden gem Ramen restaurants in the city. I was initially a little disappointed, but decided to give this new place a try anyway since I live so close to it. What we got: - Steamed rice roll with beef, corn, and lettuce - 5/5 This was very tasty, with a delicate and soft consistency filled with fresh minced beef. We also added on corn and lettuce because it was free, which, in my opinion is a very good combination. Best of all they have big portions for steam rice roll for the price. - Wonton lo mein - 4/5 The noodle itself was cooked really well, not too soft and not too chewy but the wonton skin was a little tough, but still it was good overall. Will definitely return to try more items on the menu and report back. I am very glad I no longer have to travel the distance just to get good steamed rice roll =]

The staff were friendly and super prompt about clearing empty plates and refilling our tea whenever we signaled it was done, which is always great as the dishes just get on coming! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and several really stood out. The spicy tendon was fantastic, shredded paper thin and swimming in a classic spicy sauce. The spicy lamb dumplings were another highlight, with an incredibly thin wrapper and a super flavorful and not gamey at all lamb filling. I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The buns come out beautifully presented and taste even better: the bun itself is just slightly sweet and that sweetness adds an amazing dimension to the chopped fresh vegetables inside. Can't tell you what any of these veggies are individually and I don't care, they are so good. Next came the sautéed string beans and the sear on the beans themselves was perfect and smoky and delicious. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. I love donuts and fresh-made sesame balls are similar to a donut hole just with a filling that is actually food and so sweetly tasty. The outer fry was crisp and the insides absolutely perfect. Three dishes, all fantastic, and I walk home happy and thankful to Bao for a great simple meal!

Quick and tasty spot. Came here to split a siu mai while waiting for my order from another spot…read more The cashier was super friendly and the food came out quickly. Heads up that this is mostly a takeaway spot and they only have 1-2 small tables. The siu mai was fairly big and I liked that the order came with a bunch of sauces- chili oil, soy sauce, and a hot sauce. As a big sauce fan, I appreciated the selection! I'll be back to try most of their selection.

I've only ordered dim sum from here through Too Good to Go (2g2g). Like their Chinatown location,…read moreI find the dim sum to be oily. But overall, it's good. The baked bbq pork buns are sweet with a decent amount of filling. The deep fried dumpling is plump, juicy, and crunchy. The shrimp and chive dumplings are my favorite. It's full of shrimp with a slightly thicker skin, which I think adds a nice chewiness. The veggie egg rolls were okay. I personally wouldn't order those, even if I was craving them. The spare ribs had a really nice savory flavor from the sauce. The egg tarts were okay. I need to note that these bags are leftovers from the day, so they're not as fresh. But they held up the next day so I was able to stretch 2 meals out of them. I can't comment on service since these bags are only for pick up. But they quickly provide the bags once the window open. And it's a small space, with maybe 2 tables. So this place is probably best for to-go orders. Their 2g2g bags have more variety than their Chinatown location. Not sure how many dim sum options there are in the Mission, but I would go here if I was in the area and craving a shrimp and chive dumpling.
