Sweet and sour pork lunch special with fried rice and egg drop soup
    Gretchen T.

Can't go wrong with the lunch special that comes with soup (egg drop or hot & sour), an egg roll, a Rangoon, fried or white rice, and your choice of meat entree. I chose sweet and sour pork with the sauce on the side. Everything came out piping hot. The soup was a little more orange than I'm used to (turmeric?) and the rice had a weird after taste but everything else was good. Can't really complain for less than $9 before tip. Was plenty of food to get me full for lunch.

A pork St. Paul sandwich was thick and flavorful egginess.

Summary: Typical hole in the strip mall Chinese aesthetic and fare. Unlike many restaurants that installed plexiglass counter shields for COVID, Valley Wok just draped plastic sheeting around its counter and pushed the tables and chairs to the edges. You'll feel like you just walked into the middle of building renovation. My pork St. Paul sandwich was satisfactory, with a dollar added to the price for upscale Chesterfield Valley. The thick omelette was just a tad overcooked but lots of flavor and fluffy eggs countered that. Due to COVID there's no inside dining at Valley Wok: Take-out only.

Hot and sour soup is extremely generic and spicy Crab ragoon is sweet. General taso is subpar and generic There is nothing special here. Tastes like all the other generic Americanized Chinese restaurants

This our regular Chinese food spot. I like the hot braised chicken and the fried wontons.

We were seated immediately, which we appreciated because we were tired and hungry. Since we already have our favorite dishes at Cate Zone, we knew exactly what to order as soon as our server came by. Our go‑to appetizer is always the beef tripe -- non‑spicy -- and it never disappoints. We always enjoy it with a bowl of rice, and the combination is incredibly comforting and flavorful. We also ordered the crisp shrimp with egg yolk, which is my 6‑year‑old son's absolute favorite. It's unbelievably tasty -- rich, crispy, and just out‑of‑this‑world good. For our last dish, we tried the crisp sautéed pork for the first time. This one didn't quite hit the mark for us. The flavor leaned sweet and salty with no spice, and it didn't have the same wow factor as the crisp shrimp we love so much. Still, it was worth trying something new. All our dishes came with a bowl of hot, steaming white rice, and everything arrived at our table in under 10 minutes -- their speed is impressive. The portions were generous, and we left completely full with leftovers to take home. Cate Zone continues to be one of our favorite spots, and experiences like this are exactly why we keep coming back.

And it wasn't spicy enough for me until I had to reheat it for lunch the next day. Woo, re-stir frying it with rice and cooking it for longer gets those chilli oils out and going. Chicken was great and my small side order of rice was plentiful! I ordered this for pick up and it was ready 10 minutes from placing it. Walking in, it was very spacious, and very modern looking. Shout out to the astronaut upfront. I will be back!

We ordered the cumin beef, twice cooked pork, beef noodle soup, fish in chili oil, and also a beef pho (not pictured because we started eating it right away). The twice cooked pork was my favorite. Really flavorful pork belly with leeks and chili, a little smoky from the wok, and perfect with rice. I'd go back just for that dish. The cumin beef was also great -- lots of cumin and spices with crispy bits of beef. The fish in chili oil came in a huge bowl packed with dried chilies, garlic, and peppercorns. Definitely spicy but really good if you like Sichuan-style dishes. The beef noodle soup was comforting and hearty, and the beef pho was solid too -- good broth and a big bowl. It's a pretty casual setup since it's inside the grocery store, but the food is legit and the portions are generous. Definitely worth stopping by if you're already at Pan Asia or craving something spicy

Place your order, go shop a little and go back and grab your food or stay and eat-in at one of the many tables. The #17 noodles, no protein is my absolute go-to FAVORITE dish along with the sauteed green beans and their plain fried rice is better than their shrimp fried rice. I love that they offer whole and half duck. I have to try the crispy pork that hangs along side the duck in addition to the duck. Also the prices are reasonable and the portion size is nice. They have a great menu offering and even sell cold dishes on the outside of the register in the display case, such as: sushi and vegan duck. See my pics attached to my review for Pan Asia

I had hot and sour soup with urban chick and fried rice. My wife had Moomoo gai pan with the hot and sour soup and white rice. The soup was hot but tasted like they added cornstarch to thicken it up. Rather bland but plenty of tofu and mushrooms. Not great, but not the worst I've had. the Hunan Chicken was rather bland. No sweetness to the sauce just loaded with red pepper flakes. Not a winner by any measure. The Moomoo gai pan was just bland, but the veggies were crispy. Bottom line, not an epicurean delight bu if you just need fast convenient carry out Chinese it will do.

Strong green tea flavor if you're a fan of that. Prices were great! Very affordable. I got the crab rangoons which were very good and crispy. The dumplings were alright. The pork and shrimp ones didn't really stick out to me. The beef ones were good! My favorite of the three I tried was the chicken with shiitake and bok choy. I got them pan fried, but I felt like the sides of the dumplings were a bit doughy and undercooked. Overall a very nice place for lunch and a treat! Will definitely return.
