I drive past three other Chinese restaurants to get to China Star. They're fast efficient and very friendly. Although they have tables I've only ever done takeout. The General Tso is tender and just the right amount of seasoning. The honey chicken kicks butt and the egg foo young is great too. Just the fact that I'm willing to drive this far for Chinese food speaks volumes about the quality of their food. read more

Generally satisfied with their food. Love their hot and sour soup and pan fried dumplings. However, today I ordered Genersl Tso's chicken - spice level HOT - there is no heat AT ALL. I don't know if they forgot or what but very disappointed. Also the menu picture showed broccoli coli so I was expecting a small amount of that - part of the reason I ordered it. There was not a single vegetable. Menu pictures should accurately represent what you are going to get. I also ordered shrimp rolls - those were weirdly off in flavor and not cooked on the inside - a big mouthful of fried mush for $4.75. Went right into the trash. Food is too expensive now to overlook something like this. Sadly, after many years of ordering from China Star, it may be time to find a new place. read more

Placed my order online. The menu was super easy to navigate. Purchase two large wonton egg rolls house, fried rice, also an order of sweet and sour chicken. Total was under $60.00 with tip. The restaurant was easy to find and the interaction quick. read more

Hi, changed their crab Rangoon & it's terrible.....go back to previous Rangoon..... Beef Mushrooms is really good!?? read more

Enjoyed my lo mein and I'm a big fan of hot and sour soup this place made it right for me . Service was friendly and place was good.

The food comes out hot and fresh. It it quickly served to you. They make sure to get you enough condiments to take home with your takeout orders. It is a quiet restaurant type atmosphere. Most people prefer to call in and pick up. read more

We just ordered General Tso Chicken and Orange chicken including hot and sour soup with extra egg rolls. The soup was great, the egg rolls were great, and that was it. My General Tso chicken appeared and tasted like it had been pre-portioned and stored previously and my lady's orange chicken was practically inedible. She did say her fried rice that the orange chicken came with was good. I do not typically write reviews, but this was a little over $50 and my meal seemed congealed and old while hers was unappetizing even to look at. Typically we would order from China King (once a month or so), but they are closed on Mondays at our nearest location. Bottom line, I would recommend China Star. read more

My family has been coming here for years (10-15) and we went tonight and it was TERRIBLE. We won't be going back again. Their food used to be awesome and now it's awful. read more

My family moved to St Charles in 2008 and we spent a while looking for a decent takeout before we found this place. We've tried other places but have always come back and don't plan on exploring other options unless the quality changes. When we schedule a pick-up the food is always hot at the listed time, and when we plan for delivery we've never found food to be cold. We're all human and mistakes happen, but we have never had any of the bad experiences some of the other reviews have noted. In the (RARE) instances over the years that something we ordered was missing or incorrect, after a brief call to the restaurant they have always make us whole with either credit or a second asap delivery. TLDR; 16-17 years of eating here and we've stopped trying other places because China Star has never let us down. 10/10 would recommend read more

The worse food ever, no favor, no gravy on food, food was cold, had to reheat it to try to eat it, thru the rest in garbage deposit. I will never reccomend this place to anyone read more

Solid Chinese takeout place. I think one of the best in the area . I'd give them another star if they had a soda fountain. The food is good and service is always friendly. read more

After being a pretty loyal customer (5 to 10 visits a year for 13 years- mostly delivery) all I can is NEVER AGAIN. Tonight - nothing was good. The chicken in two entrees tasted days old. Fried rice - old. Egg rolls - change the oil in the fryer, they were tough as nails. The only good item was a two liter of Diet Pepsi. I called the restaurant- lady seemed indifferent, as if she's hearing this a lot lately. read more

after a night out of heavy drinking, I thought I might starve to death if I didn't get food. I ordered the spicy chicken here and after tasting I to death would be a better option. if you want to be disappointed or have no concept of taste or flavor, this is the restaurant for you.. I've had food with no seasoning that is less fucked up than this read more

Meals arrive at my house still very warm and always delicious. The crab Rangoon are the best! Delivery is consistently rapid.

This place is always good till yesterday Chick on a stick dry and burnt Orange chicken flavorless and cold, chicken fried rice hard to find any chicken I'm disappointed read more

After a long day of travel, I did the Yelp search for a high review location that I could just grab and go. Restaurant is not operating with any seating, the dining area has been transferred into a storage location, the plastic sheets and plastic shields are still in place. Food was not ready when I arrived, and there was a line of several people. Once back to hotel, the food was bland and without flavor. Rather disappointing in my opinion read more

Thankful Thursday! I'm thankful that China Star reopened again this week after thoughtfully closing to keep their staff and patrons safe. I'm thankful that China Star has taken such extreme measures within their restaurant to ensure safe pick up and delivery. I'm thankful for their Singapore Mei Fun, their chicken-on-a-stick, their lovely potstickers, crab Rangoon, egg rolls, and the awesome walnut shrimp! Their customer service is top notch as well. Thank you, China Star! read more

I've been in the Saint Charles area now for almost 5 years and bounced around to many different Chinese restaurants. China Star knocks it out of the park on their spicy bean curd with vegetables. AND their crab Rangoons are FIRE!! read more

Food tasted good, but the cost was outrageous for just three entrees and one fried rice it cost me $70

We haven't ordered from China Star for quite some time. My wife got ill after eating some of her shrimp with lobster sauce a year or two ago. We gave them another shot. My wife got Vegetable Lo Mein. It had few, if any vegetables. I got Shrimp Fried Rice. It was dry and no flavor. It had some dry, tasteless shrimp on top and NO shrimp after you dig in an inch or so. I got two pork rolls that were not warm and tasted old. Never Again !!!! read more

Terrible over cooked chicken. Not enough sauce. Zero flavor. The crab Rangoon was soggy. Waste of money.

I have been frequenting this restaurant since 2009. The quality has gone downhill significantly in the past 4 years. I picked up an ordered yesterday that included what was supposed to be a pork egg roll. The filling was gray and pasty and had all the appearance of dog food. It was cold and disgusting. The chicken in my entree was fibrous and bland even though I requested spicy. The End read more

Amazing food! I got the peppered chicken and shrimp and an order of spring rolls. Everything tasted great and it was hot and fresh. I was so impressed I went again and tried their teriyaki chicken. Also amazing! read more

This remains our go-to Chinese food place. The food is well proportioned and seasoned. Their hot and sour soup is the best in this area. Friendly staff! Try it, you will like it! read more

Decided to try this place last night ..Well we got a piece of metal like off a brush in our food they were kind enough to take the food back and refund us. But definitely won't be back. Beware and look out as that can seriously injure someone read more

I've eaten here a handful of times now and never been disappointed so finally decided it deserves a review. I'm usually pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food but everything I've tried has been very satisfying- good quality chicken, crisp tender veggies, and good flavor. Nothing weird. Our favorites are the pork dumplings, veggie lo mein, and garlic chicken. read more

We live nearby this restaurant and order from them frequently for both pick-up and delivery. I have consistently had excellent meals and service from this location. In fact, we custom order a couple of items frequently and they always accommodate with no questions and no errors. I have a lot of Chinese food ordering experience in my history and consider this restaurant very solid! read more

Great Chinese takeout and dine in food. The service is also first class. It is great for families too!

Food is always delicious! Their delivery is speedy. They're our go to for Chinese food.

Ordering online was easy and delivery was super fast. I had the Hunan Beef and Hot and Sour soup. The Hunan Beef was a bit bland and the Soup was distant. To be honest I have had better. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant. And to be honest it was sub par. I will give it another chance though; everyone has an off night once in awhile. read more

We get delivery from here a few times a month. Only for dinner though! We did lunch one time and we had a very different experience. Good: easy phone ordering with coupons offered online. Quick delivery, and we have never had to call and complain about anything. I want to state again- we are reg-u-lars. One time they forgot one item in our order, and sent a second delivery driver for a quicker delivery to us! Can't say enough about that kind of customer service! Now the fabulous food: Edamame- always on point. Just get it. Chicken\beef\shrimpwith broccoli- order it. Broccoli is always cooked perfectly and there is just enough sauce. Shrimp fried rice- silver dollar sized shrimp, flavored well, rice cooked well, nice wok flavor. Chicken fried rice- same reviews as the shrimp fried rice. Always reliable to be super delicious!! Fried chicken wings- I almost don't want to tell people how good these are! This is a highly regarded secret. They are cheap, crispy, big, perfectly cooked, literally the best ones that we can get anywhere! Get two orders, they will go fast! Crab rangoon- delicious! Just a touch of honey in the filling. They are always on our order. Szechuan chicken- always good, never a disappointment! Pan fried dumplings- crispy and perfectly cooked. The sauce that comes with these is just amazing! Dunk everything in it! Steamed dumplings- equally as good as the pan fried! Shrimp egg roll- always good. We occasionally get these. Regular egg rolls- we don't get these. We have gotten them twice and we have not been impressed unfortunately. Egg drop soup- never been disappointed. Hot and sour soup- hit and miss. I like it really spicy, and sometimes it falls short on the heat level. Dinner combination plates are a great deal! Take my advice and try this place. They are family owned and really care about their customers. read more

China Star - Overcooked dumplings - Chinese Near Me - Saint Charles, Missouri

i have ordered here for years and their food has typically been phenomenal. the last two times i've ordered there food (within the past 3 months) has been very disappointing. this has included a very disrespectful receptionist and seeing their food quality go down. they used to be the absolute BEST with producing their chicken on a stick and now it's thin, sticky, and not as flavorful as it previously was. their beef has become almost stale and the pork has gone to poor chinese restaurant types. i love this place and have typically had no problems but the past few has really disappointed me. read more
