I drive past three other Chinese restaurants to get to China Star. They're fast efficient and very friendly. Although they have tables I've only ever done takeout. The General Tso is tender and just the right amount of seasoning. The honey chicken kicks butt and the egg foo young is great too. Just the fact that I'm willing to drive this far for Chinese food speaks volumes about the quality of their food. read more

We just ordered General Tso Chicken and Orange chicken including hot and sour soup with extra egg rolls. The soup was great, the egg rolls were great, and that was it. My General Tso chicken appeared and tasted like it had been pre-portioned and stored previously and my lady's orange chicken was practically inedible. She did say her fried rice that the orange chicken came with was good. I do not typically write reviews, but this was a little over $50 and my meal seemed congealed and old while hers was unappetizing even to look at. Typically we would order from China King (once a month or so), but they are closed on Mondays at our nearest location. Bottom line, I would recommend China Star. read more

My family moved to St Charles in 2008 and we spent a while looking for a decent takeout before we found this place. We've tried other places but have always come back and don't plan on exploring other options unless the quality changes. When we schedule a pick-up the food is always hot at the listed time, and when we plan for delivery we've never found food to be cold. We're all human and mistakes happen, but we have never had any of the bad experiences some of the other reviews have noted. In the (RARE) instances over the years that something we ordered was missing or incorrect, after a brief call to the restaurant they have always make us whole with either credit or a second asap delivery. TLDR; 16-17 years of eating here and we've stopped trying other places because China Star has never let us down. 10/10 would recommend read more

Food tasted good, but the cost was outrageous for just three entrees and one fried rice it cost me $70

We haven't ordered from China Star for quite some time. My wife got ill after eating some of her shrimp with lobster sauce a year or two ago. We gave them another shot. My wife got Vegetable Lo Mein. It had few, if any vegetables. I got Shrimp Fried Rice. It was dry and no flavor. It had some dry, tasteless shrimp on top and NO shrimp after you dig in an inch or so. I got two pork rolls that were not warm and tasted old. Never Again !!!! read more

I have been frequenting this restaurant since 2009. The quality has gone downhill significantly in the past 4 years. I picked up an ordered yesterday that included what was supposed to be a pork egg roll. The filling was gray and pasty and had all the appearance of dog food. It was cold and disgusting. They are cheap, crispy, big, perfectly cooked, literally the best ones that we can get anywhere! Get two orders, they will go fast! Crab rangoon- delicious! Just a touch of honey in the filling. They are always on our order. Szechuan chicken- always good, never a disappointment! Pan fried dumplings- crispy and perfectly cooked. The sauce that comes with these is just amazing! Dunk everything in it! Steamed dumplings- equally as good as the pan fried! Shrimp egg roll- always good. We occasionally get these. Regular egg rolls- we don't get these. We have gotten them twice and we have not been impressed unfortunately. Egg drop soup- never been disappointed. Hot and sour soup- hit and miss. I like it really spicy, and sometimes it falls short on the heat level. Dinner combination plates are a great deal! Take my advice and try this place. i have ordered here for years and their food has typically been phenomenal. the last two times i've ordered there food (within the past 3 months) has been very disappointing. this has included a very disrespectful receptionist and seeing their food quality go down. they used to be the absolute BEST with producing their chicken on a stick and now it's thin, sticky, and not as flavorful as it previously was. their beef has become almost stale and the pork has gone to poor chinese restaurant types. i love this place and have typically had no problems but the past few has really disappointed me. read more
