The food had decent flavor, but overall I was disappointed with the experience. I ordered the House Chicken, and while the chicken and sauce had good flavor, the vegetables were cut into very large, uneven chunks, which made the dish less enjoyable to eat. I also ordered the Pork Mongolian, and unfortunately, it was mostly onions with very little pork. I was expecting a better balance of meat and vegetables. Another issue was the menu. There aren't really combination options, and the menu is a little difficult to navigate, making it hard to know what to order or what comes with each dish. Wow. I've always wanted to try this place out, and today was finally the day. I have NO idea why I waited so long!! First off, more times than not Chinese places don't have Kung Pow chicken...they do!! So that was exciting from the get go. Secondly it came in a lunch combo that included fried rice and two crab Rangoon for under 10 dollars..WHAT?! I took it to go, incredibly excited because it's been a very long time since I've indulged in Chinese food as I have a new found illness that has changed my diet drastically. I sat down and opened the box SHOCKED to find that the chicken WASNT FRIED!!!!!! I was taking a gamble on eating this in the first place, but to now know there is a place that doesn't fry the items I love the most is awesome for me. Game changer. Nearby to everything in Eureka, MO. Convenient and pretty affordable. Great hot mustard and chili hot condiments. They feature a large menu with much variety, though food quality can vary from time to time. Ambiance is passable, not over the top or bare bones. Service is kind of bare bones though. Edit. I have not been here in 10 years. Our favorite place in our new area close down recently so we tried China wok again. Pretty decent American style Chinese food. The sauces are good enough and the portions are plentiful. The lunch specials are around eight dollars which given this time with inflation is a welcome sight. The service is pretty rude though. The man on the phone had limited English and hung up on me when I tried to change something. He was pretty abrasive when I picked up the food but it wasn't just me, he was abrasive to everybody. I seem to see that over and over again on these reviews. I know what they can do to alleviate the English barrier. They don't have their lunch specials numbered. Went on Friday at 3 pm. When we went in there was just one table being served. We were quite surprised since the shared parking lot was quite full. We enjoyed the Empress Chicken and Mongolian Beef. Not a good experience. Waiter barely made eye contact. When asking more description about the food we were told to read the menu description. They use to serve egg drop soup and crab Rangoon and that doesn't happen anymore but when we asked about it, we were laughed at. Then the breaded chicken is mostly bread and not chicken it appeared to be from the frozen section of any Walmart and make yourself. The eureka water is horrible that I served there. I love that China Wok does not use any MSG in their food. Especially since my sister is allergic, we have to be careful when eating out. Tonight is takeout and since I am in Eureka, I opted for China Wok. Crab Rangoons are great. They are not "sweet" like some places you get rangoons. Shrimp fried rice is bland however that is how we eat it. It has peas, carrots, bean sprouts and shrimp. Previous reviewers noted that food is bland and I have to say that there is truth to that. They do have "spicy selections" on the menu, however someone else will need to review that since we prefer the "bland". I ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce and again it is bland with a bit of salty flavoring. The veggies are cooked very well with a perfect crunch. Not too underdone and not overdone. It has snow peas, mushrooms, little corns, water chesnuts, carrots, and I think some "egg whites" in the lobster sauce. Egg rolls are egg rolls and it is hard for me to even dislike that. I would say that they are OK. I have had better, but it is a standard egg roll to me. Looks like it might be pork. They do not have the AC in summer, which I do not understand. Tonight a long body of work was destroyed. Our appetizer came late. Late like after our main course was eaten, and we waited for like 10 minutes late. Waiter asked for it to be taken off the bill. Owner refused. Then I asked to speak to the owner. Only then, he took the appetizer off the menu but loudly and repeatedly refused to come talk to me. Not a fan. I've never seen meals delivered one at a time over a period of fifteen minutes. First person finished before I ever saw my meal. I had their house special beef with black pepper sauce. I couldn't chew the beef it had so much fat. My son had the shrimp with broccoli and it was bland. My daughter had orange chicken that was ok but I've had better. My wife had chicken with vegetables that had no sauce or any taste. Hot and sour soup had no taste but crab Rangoon was good. Seemed people who ordered food for pickup were waiting a long time and getting frustrated with wait. There was one waiter for the restaurant and he was overwhelmed with just a few tables and become completely confused once they got busy. He came out asking the restaurant who ordered what so he knew where to deliver the single dish at a time.
