Our favorite place was closed on Monday so we ordered from here. Ordered from here about a year ago,on a Monday, and a similar experience. The food just wasn't great. They scorched the fried rice. So bad that I could start to smell it in the car on the way home. Once home, it was so scorched it was unappetizing and barely edible. The crab Rangoon were some of the best I've ever had in STL. The sesame chicken was actually good, but that came with more pork fried rice. I felt that after last year's experience and the one this year, China first has become our China last (time). I would not recommend this place for take out. The fried rice was scorched so it ruined all four dishes we ordered. The color was also way off for fried rice. The sesame chicken was ok at best, the orange chicken was ok. Cashew chicken was good but the scorched rice ruined it. Very disappointed! (Have had a pleasant experience here before however...) got the Orange chicken- it was so bad! I couldn't even eat it and the few bites I did have upset my stomach! Chicken was a weird grey color- vegetables tastes old, rice was dried out- crab Rangoon was "ok". Spoke with the owner and told her my problems, she just offered to give me more orange chicken, which I obviously didn't want, I asked if I could just have my money back, she refused, stating she's "running a business" and can't do it. I have ordered from China 1st about 3-4 times since moving to the Ballwin area 6 months ago. I haven't had any bad experiences except for a longer than usual wait a few weeks back for a carry out order. They were slammed and I had to wait an additional 10 minutes or so. I wasn't in a rush, so I didn't mind and I think one of my items were free since the cost was lower than I was told when I ordered and I had everything that I ordered. I never bothered double checking the receipt...or maybe I just got lucky. I haven't had any issues with the food as of yet and usually get the same things...Shrimp Fried Rice, S&S Chicken, Beef Lo Mein and Crab Rangoon. I will say the Crab Rangoon really good and almost to the point of being OVER stuffed. Prices are good for what you get, they can pack a lot in those little boxes. read more
