Before our short vacation to Aquidneck Island, I checked out the reviews for various restaurants in both Portsmouth and Middletown. Valley Inn caught my attention both for the high ratings and the fact that a small stuffed quahog (aka stuffie) was included with entrees. We found the restaurant situated in the cellar of an older house a bit creepy though we quickly settled in. Each of use chose swordfish as entree served over mashed potatoes and crispy asparagus. Also included were 2 dinner rolls, a high quality salad and aforementioned stuffie. The pieces of swordfish were almost enough to serve two and perfectly prepared.

Really great food! Service was fantastic and loved the ambiance. Here is an updated menu the one on yelp is outdated

    Stuffed quahog

We have driven by this place 100 times and finally tried it. I have to be honest, the haunted stories intrigued us so we had to try it. We had an inviting seat by the wood burning fireplace which was so welcoming and cozy. My husband had the Lobster Ravioli and I had the Pork Chop. Both meals come with a stuffed quahog and choice of soup or salad, we both had the French onion soup which was delicious. We both enjoyed our meals, they were cooked and seasoned very well, the pork chop was huge so I took home leftovers. Our server was very attentive and quick. There was live entertainment and he was very good! The only disappointment was that we didn't get to see any haunted happenings, lol.

Filet Mignon with a cognac cream sauce, asparagus and mashed potatoes

Hands down one of the best steaks I've had in years!! The filet mignon melted in my mouth and was cooked a perfect medium rare. HIGHLY recommend this place if you love steak like I do! The asparagus and mashed potatoes with it were delicious as well!! I'd give more than 5 stars if I could....it was that good!

The Lobster Stuffed Steak was amazing. The picture doesn't do it justice!

Phenomenal. My family and I ate here for dinner and will gladly go back. To start, the service was awesome. Prompt, friendly, professional, and personable. The owner was making his rounds as well and it added a very nice and personal touch. The food was absolutely killer; the kitchen staff crushed it. To start, the stuffed quahog was amazing and the main courses were the perfect follow up. In particular, I had the lobster stuffed steak and it was perfect! The steak was cooked perfectly and the butter from the lobster added an exceptional level of flavor. I highly recommend going; mid week if you can. Going at opening on a Tuesday night meant it was a bit slower pace inside and we enjoyed that. We booked through Facebook Messenger and, despite them being closed at the time, they still responded quickly and booked us. We will be going back. It's that good!

It's consistently very good, even though we often trek from our hometown to Bristol, Newport, or Providence for dining. Portsmouth has slim pickings when it comes to quality restaurants--15 Point and Fieldstone's only come to mind. Rocco's used to be on that list, but new ownership makes it a bit of a question mark right now. This place always delivers: a solid menu with a strong emphasis on seafood, a long cocktail list with prices still reasonable for the area ($12-$14), and reliably good service. Portions are generous and the food is consistently well prepared. We split the bacon-wrapped scallops to start, then had duck and a seafood pasta for entrées--both excellent. Highly recommended. And when the weather cooperates, the outdoor dining right on the water is a real bonus.

I went with the ahi tuna platter, which was set up almost like a charcuterie board, and it was excellent. Also grabbed a clam chowder, because... New England, and it did not disappoint. Caught the fourth quarter of the game, and the place had a great vibe. Crowd was lively, staff was friendly, and everything was clean and comfortable. If I end up back in that area again, I'll make sure to swing by a little earlier so I can check out the full menu. Solid spot all around.

The drink menu was not very extensive. Our Asian salad cups appetizer tasted exactly like an Asian salad mix I've bought at the grocery store and looked like it too - I'm convinced that's exactly how they prepared this. My veggie burger had burnt edges and wasn't too enjoyable flavor-wise. It didn't help my overall impression that when I got takeout here another time, they totally butchered my boyfriend's name when we ordered over the phone, and we had a hard time picking up our order because of this (how you get "Stephanie" from "Anthony," I just really don't know). I think this place just gets lucky having a good location across from Independence Park and being close to but just out of the way from downtown. Can't say I was impressed by the food - there are too many other good options in Bristol, I just can't say I'd recommend this to others. Perhaps it's improved since I visited, but it's a pass for me based on experiences I've had.

Morgan was an excellent waitress-- attentive and kind and answered all my questions. One of my questions was if the pulled pork would taste like coca-cola (which it's marinated in) and she assured me it doesn't but would get me something else if I didn't like it. Pricing is fair and the vibes are great. I totally didn't realize it was nestled into an actual marina but their signage was pretty good (don't let the railroad tracks throw you off). AS planned, we arrived for " happy hour"--mostly for the raw bar. Special "Dinner for 2" awaited us. Half off wine Monday! We reviewed the dinner menus anxiously--excitedly. Here we were, in seafood country--fresh oysters and clams for half price. Cassie, our waitress, was bubbly, uber friendly. Place was dead to my surprise. (4:30 pm) First round of drinks, we ordered 2 dozen oysters and 2 dozen clams. (The presentation was lovely, familiar to us, as my brother and I are experts in malacology.) We dove in. Oysters were good. Three clams in---disaster! Rancid--ugh! I looked across the table to see my brother gagging too. Nothing worse than a bad clam. My wife and his--more discreetly -just spit theirs out. Now understand this; I have had old clams, refrigerator clams, not totally fresh clams. NEVER have I been served a spoiled, rancid, clam! All of us had the same experience. We called Casse over. She was mortified. We asked to see the manager. He never showed up. We couldn't go any further. (We were ready to splurge--spend hundreds!) They reluctantly removed several clams from the bill after we brought this to Cassie's attention. THE MANAGER NEVER CAME OVER! Seriously? We were out the door. What a disappointment.

The bartender was working hard. He had a full bar of customers and many diners to try to keep up with. Here is the problem. We were there at 5:30 on New Year's Eve...and I know it is a busy night...but this was 5:30 and I ordered a double espresso martini...only for the server to come by after about ten minutes and apologetically tell us that we could not have that because the bar was out of Kaluha and Baileys!!!! I mean really ... at 5:30 on New Years Eve? One may think it unreasonable to be a bit miffed that a bar would have run out of two bar staples so early on New Year's Eve...but I over heard the server telling another table that they had run out of Sprite too. Well ok, so I ordered a martini from their seasonal menu as I had just seen one served at the next table and it looked great. We received our meals served by the kitchen staff in short order , but still no martini. Finally the server came by to apologize but she was still waiting for my drink. By then I had her cancel the drink ordered altogether. Now mind you, I do not fault the staff. I think there was just two servers and one bartender on duty. But, this is where good management would have stepped in and assisted them. As to the shortage of beverages...well all I can say is that there is a Market Basket and a Liquor store in the very same plaza as the 110 Grill. In my humble opinion, a good manager would have made a purchase or two from the readily available retailers nearby, especially on a busy night. I did observe the manager standing by the kitchen window (presumably monitoring timeliness of the food orders). But still, I find it hard to believe the lack of bar supplies. Perhaps the manager could have pitched in and helped the overworked bartender, or attended to his needs. Now, I know that bars and restaurants depend on liquor distributors, and maybe this was a one off. At the same time, I also know that liquor sales are a high mark up item, so a little creative thinking would have gone a long way to making for happy customers. Again, the food was excellent, the service was the best it could be under the circumstances. Management, however could use some improvement.
