First time experiencing this restaurant. It was recommended by a friend who frequently goes . Very nicely decorated and clean. We were greeted by a lovely lady who turned out to take care of us. She provided helpful information on the choices we were thinking about. We settled on one of the Turkey wraps and the fried clam plate. Clams were lightly fried and crispy. Another great experience! From hostess, waitress Annie to the incredible Chef who prepared our food, everything was fabulous! A group of us (five) stopped in for dinner, seated in the extra room area which is very comfortable, attractive and convenient. Everyone was happy with our orders, especially me who chanced the Sea Scallops Rockefeller, sautéed PERFECTLY, nestled in a sweet bisque-like sauce along with spinach and toasted crumbles. My two girlfriends and I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The service was excellent, friendly, attentive, and made the whole meal feel special. We each ordered the lobster roll and it was absolutely delicious: fresh, perfectly seasoned, and generously filled. To top it off, the Shirley Temples were just the right mix of sweet and refreshing. Everything about the visit, from the atmosphere to the food to the staff, made it a place I'd happily recommend. When we're in the Portsmouth, RI area at our cottage, we have two go to restaurants: 15 Point in Portsmouth which overlooks the water and Sakonnet River Grille in Tiverton. This Restaurant is clean, neat and above all, employs a great friendly staff. We ate there last Friday, greeted by Alexa and quickly seated. Many restaurants have enormous menus. Not so here. It is limited to well crafted sandwiches and unique entrees. Alexa quickly took out order. I had the spicy Cajun penne dish which I devoured. My love had a chicken wrap with mashed sweet potato. Sometimes simple is gourmet. Sakonnet service is quick, the meals hot, the service excellent. I was impressed when the staff rearranged several tables to accommodate a biker club driving those unique 3 wheeled types. Nothing was a problem for the staff for a dozen respectful customers. When it came time for our dessert, a cream cake with embedded berries, they did not have it. It was lighter fare than several enticing chocolate offerings. My attitude is if you have it on the menu, you better have it to serve. This is a great choice for lunch or supper in the Tiverton area. And ask for Alexa. read more

Better late than never. We were heading back from Newport on a Sunday and decided to let Google take us to the closest seafood place. We were not at all disappointed with this one. It was filled, but we were seated quickly. The staff was incredibly nice and quick to explain the menu. Stick with your New England seafood Staples and you can't go wrong with chowder, fish and chips and salmon, or steak and chicken for your land options. We left with leftovers and the food was as good as anything you'd find in Newport without emptying your wallet. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area. read more

My daughter lives in Tiverton and I have been in the Sakonnet Grill a few times while visiting here. The service has always been very good on my visits. The menu is interesting and has lots of great options. The inside and atmosphere is cozy and inviting but does not have any particular style. The drinks have always been tasty and perfect on my visits. The bar staff has always tended to be particularly friendly and efficient on my visits. The food has always been great too, ... and that is the reason to visit Sakonnet. On my last visit I ordered the Mediterranean Medley with Salmon. We have ordered mussels and shrimp on other visits. Nothing I have ordered off the menu has disappointed. I would be happy to go back to Sakonnet River Grille anytime. read more

Went here with a large group back in October who all had different wants and cravings for dinner... Found this place and decided to give it a try! It's a nicely lit, clean restaurant with great service, I am amazed they were able to accommodate such a big party so quickly. The menu had quite the large variety of options and all looked quite good, they even had a seasonal menu! I sampled quite a few of everyone's dishes but only took pictures of what my partner and I ordered and WOW was it superb. The BEST macaroni I have had and an absolutely delicious cajun pasta. I tried their clam chowder as well and as someone who hates shellfish that was the best soup I've ever put in my mouth. Didn't taste fishy like all the chowder I tried around the Boston area (Though I think this is Rhode Island?) and was very flavorful and rich. There wasn't a single complaint around the table about the meal, price was reasonable, portions were good, flavor was perfect! I will make the trip again next time I am in the area. read more

Even on the ride home it smelled so good that I wanted to pull over and eat it right there! I decided on the Pirate's Cove Seafood Pasta. It was loaded with sea scallops, a ton of lobster, shrimp, and the most delicious lobster cream sauce! We all know that the worst thing about takeout is getting home with cold food. Not the case tonight, it was nearly hot enough to burn your mouth! So this takeout was probably the best seafood dish that I have had in a long time, and it was takeout on top of it all. Not too often I go to a restaurant that absolutely goes beyond my expectations!!!!! This restaurant was amazing. It's a very cozy casual relaxing atmosphere. The waitress was amazing, friendly, funny and had great timing with the food. I had the clam chowder. This chowder was in between a really thick chowder and thin broth chowder. I love thick chowder and to me the consistency of this chowder was excellent. Also all the ingredients were cooked great, the potatoes especially were pillowy soft but not mushy. It also was chocked full of super clean clams. The seasoning was spot on, I did not have to add any salt or pepper. The lobster roll was stuffed with good quality lobster meat . I also really liked their Cole slaw. Also for the portion sizes and the quality of the product prices were very reasonable. Not only would I go back for the food, but I would go back for the incredible service. read more

This is a very unassuming restaurant we stopped at for lunch on our way to do some hiking. It was the first time we had dined indoors since the pandemic had started and we felt comfortable and reassured. Our waitress was very friendly - she split everything for my sister and I when we said we would be sharing our dishes. The clam chowder was delicious and came with oyster crackers. We ordered the large portion but she split it nicely (we got extra) without uncharging us. The lobster rolls were also very plentiful and filly. Very fresh too. They made it easy to sub out the sides with the sandwiches as well which we appreciated. The penne was very good, served with sausage and peppers nicely baked. The calamari wasn't so good. The Mozambique I have had is usually spicy. This had no spice and was actually very oily. I usually love this place but today I ordered pick-up and was disappointed with an app. I ordered the lobster bites and was surprised that there were only 2.5 pieces for $21. Granted, it was a special on the menu but for an appetizer, I assumed it would be slightly more. I will be cautious in the future when ordering for pick up. Service was excellent. Not too crowded on Sunday evening. I started with a banana cream pie martini which was excellent. I also had the French onion soup. It was tasty, but the bread wasn't soggy like I'm used to and it was hard to cut with a spoon. For dinner I just had buffalo wings with buffalo sauce, Asian Chilli sauce and one other that I forget. They were tasty, but oddly enough I was charged fifty cents for blue cheese dressing without even being asked first. Kind of strange!
