Plenty of free parking. There was a short wait because there was one 1 server on staff but we looked at menus while we waited. We started with the clam chowder. If you like thick clam chowder, this is it. For meals we opted to split the honey, hot chicken sandwich and a buffalo chicken pizza. Not gonna lie, the bowl of chowder was pretty big, and I was pretty full by the time I was done with it. The honey hot chicken sandwich is more like a honey mustard chicken. It was still pretty good, but if you are expecting hot honey, this is not it. I opted to have the blue cheese on the side with the pizza, because my husband doesn't like blue cheese. The buffalo chicken pizza was actually really delicious. It was like a bar pizza that you would get from the south shore. You really can't find this pizza in Rhode Island or in Southern MA, so this was a great find. Staff were friendly and attentive. I didn't get any alcoholic drinks cause it was pretty early and not much of a day drinker, but it had a really good vibe and I'm sure it's a lot of fun at night. The drink menu looked really good so I'll likely come back for drinks and apps. There's a cute outdoor seating area. The Britney Spears in the family compared to the Tipsy Seagull's Jamie Lynn Spears, the Toboggan is a bit elevated -- and not just because it's slightly above sea level. Is the food incredible? I've visited this restaurant twice before and never had this type of experience, but today was extremely disappointing. When I walked in, I stood in the waiting area for about 10 minutes waiting to be seated. The restaurant was not busy, and there were two servers sitting at the bar chatting with the bartender who clearly saw me but did not acknowledge or greet me. A simple "Hi, we'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. Eventually, the bartender (a tall young man) approached me without greeting me and started walking upstairs. He then turned around and said, "I forgot a menu," as if it was an afterthought. When we got upstairs, he placed (more like tossed) the menu on a table that still had a dirty cup on it that looked like someone had just been drinking from it. Instead of addressing that, he immediately walked over to another table to check on two guests who were already dining. After finishing with them, he walked right past me without asking if I'd like to start with a drink or acknowledging that I was even seated. There was absolutely no hospitality it felt more like hostility and indifference. The ambiance is aesthetically pleasing, but unfortunately that's where the positives end. The food is mediocre at best and definitely not worth overlooking such poor service. Customer service makes or breaks a dining experience, and today it completely broke it for me. Zach the bartender should probably find a new job, because customer service and overall human decency is not his strong suit. It was like we were an inconvenience to him by being patrons at his bar. We also showed up at 830 on a Friday, so it's not like we showed up right when they were closing. Extremely rude, no please or thank you exchanged from him. He even was rude to the music guy! I'm so so sad that a place that was a one time favorite served me one of the worst meals I've had. We went on. Wednesday night and they were definitely short on help. I told the host to not worry about it and we would wait, these things happen. We were seated upstairs and not waited on for about 10-15 minutes. The staff was maxed out and apparently the kitchen had issues. Not the staffs fault at all. I ordered my favorite dish, which is a Panko Parmesan Cod with mashed potatoes and vegetable. I've had this dish many times here, but this was by far the worst. The piece of fish I had was very thin, and although it was Panko Parmesan, it smelled like fish and tasted like it was bad. I took a couple bites and did not finish it. The side salad I ordered also tasted like fish. I still can't figure out if it was a salad dressing or the lettuce itself that was contaminated. I will say that the mashed potatoes and the cocktails were delicious. The waitress did her best to take care of us and did a very good job considering she was slammed. The Tipsy Toboggan isn't really a pizza place. It's a gastropub that happens to serve pizza. That distinction matters. The 10-inch pies landed somewhere between Greek-style and bar pie, though the execution didn't commit to either tradition. Toppings ran all the way to the edge. The crust was thicker than a classic bar pie cracker. Not bad ideas, just half-formed. The real problem was consistency. There wasn't any. Within a single pie, you'd get one slice with a perfectly golden undercarriage and another that was clearly underdone. The cheese distribution varied. The sauce appeared and disappeared almost at random. When you got a bit more of it, the flavor improved. Between the two pizzas we ordered, one wasn't better than the other. Just differently inconsistent. The plain cheese outperformed the pepperoni. The pepperoni itself wasn't memorable, but the cheese had moments where things came together. Usually in the thicker, better-cooked sections where the sauce happened to congregate. The vibes are awesome. They've decked it out in full holiday regalia. Paper snowflakes, rustic log railings, antler chandeliers dripping with ornaments, Moravian stars, that blue underglow lighting that photographs well. Mounted deer heads. A bear. It looks like a ski lodge designed by someone who commits to the bit, and I mean that as a compliment. The staff seemed nice when they materialized. The problem was the materializing. They need more bodies on the floor. When someone came by, they were friendly. The gaps between visits were long enough that you noticed. The Tipsy Toboggan does a lot of things. A creative gastropub menu, cocktails, live music, themed events, decorations that deserve their own review. Pizza isn't its calling card. Come for the vibes. Order the steak tips or the prime rib. We went to the Tipsy Toboggan last night and we absolutely loved it! The outside lights were so pretty, especially on a chilly night, and inside was cozy, warm, and there was a fire burning in the oversized fireplace. The bar is large and there is seating both upstairs and down. We were seated upstairs and it was very nicely decorated with throw pillows for our backs, beautiful star shaped lights, and also Halloween decor. The builkding reminds me of a lodge, with honey colored wood and a high ceiling. Jamie was our server and she was friendly, attentive, and she answered all of our questions. For our drink, we ordered the Temptation Bowl for Two, and we chose the cider sangria. The drink arrived in a large bowl, with a shot of 150 that was on fire. So cool! The sangria was delicious - This was a seasonal cider, but the temptation sangria is always on the menu. We ordered two pizzas - one with cheese and one with chourico. Both were really good with a thin crust and cheese all the way to the edge. The other items on the menu look amazing, so we will be going back to try them. Also, there are nightly specials such as prime rib night, shrimp night, and they care currently offering a Thanksgiving Dinner special on Monday nights. Lastly, I wanted to compliment The Tipsy Toboggan on their Veterans Day special. Last night was Veterans Day and they were giving all veterans a free meal. How awesome! The place was beautifully decorated for Halloween inside and outside. It's too bad the weather wasn't warmer because it would be great to enjoy the courtyard. The ambiance is at its best here when it's Christmas. I absolutely love the festive winter's decorations. Service here is always top notch , very friendly , quick, and informative . The service was great and the food good! I got the winter salmon with double mashed potatoes and subbed out the chef veggies which were squash and peppers. There was an orange and cranberry chutney on top that had good flavor but was mostly onions and not many cranberries. I got the bobbin for apples drink and I unfortunately did not like it :( it was strong and on the bitter side so I barely finished it and just licked off the yummy caramel drizzle around the rim! I was with about 9 people and they all seemed to enjoy the food but didn't say it was anything special. Was in the area and stopped in for a quick lunch. The place is unique as it has a lodge vibe, with a touch of pub thrown in. The waitresses are attentive and efficient. Both food and drinks came pretty quickly. I had the chicken and shrimp Mozambique. The sauce was good. The rice was a smaller grain rice that didn't help round out the dish. A little more seasoning on the proteins and a jasmine type of rice would have made the dish better. Firstly the decor of this place is immaculate - it's cozy with wooden decor with a warm fireplace and high ceilings, with themed decorations visible from all seating areas. It's been years since we last came here. We no longer live super nearby so we end up picking other options. Tonight we remembered this spot and decided to come for an early dinner. They had live music and we were able to be seated right away (Sunday in March at 4:30). Our server was friendly, and took my husband's gluten allergy seriously, making a point to write it down. The menu was clear what options could be made gluten free. He got a cocktail and I got a Super Bock on draft. We were both pleased with our drinks. For entrees, I got the chicken Mozambique pizza. What a beautiful building. The decorations were still up from Christmas and we're very nice. There are igloos outside if you wanted to sit in one of those , I'm sure reservations are required for that. We've visited several times with friends and family and have always enjoyed it, so tonight was a surprise. Arrived at 5:30 on a Friday with my wife and 10-month-old daughter. The outdoor patio was completely empty. The downstairs dining room had little to no activity, I don't recall seeing anyone seated. Upstairs was quiet enough that there was minimal noise coming down. The host greeted us, asked our preference, and was grabbing menus when another staff member stepped in and asked if we had a reservation. When I said no, she told us the next available table was 8:30. No glance at the floor plan. No waitlist offer. No "let me see what I can do." Just the bar, if you can find a seat there, while I'm standing there holding an infant. I've spent 20+ years in hospitality, the majority of my career in restaurant management. One of the most important lessons I carried through all of it is this: when someone walks through your door, you acknowledge that they could've gone anywhere tonight and they chose your place. Especially in today's economy, where people are deliberate about where they spend their money, that matters. It should be felt from the moment they walk in. Tonight it wasn't even close. A two-top with a baby on a Friday at 5:30 is a gift. Sub-90-minute turn, easy cover, out before your dinner rush peaks. Any host worth their weight knows you work to find a way, or at minimum you look, you offer the waitlist, and you treat guests like you want them to come back. None of that happened. She didn't look at the floor. She didn't offer options. She gave us the bar suggestion and moved on. Checked the website from the parking lot. Reservations available at 6:45 and beyond throughout the night. We could've booked on the spot and been seated within the hour. Tonight we chose Tipsy Toboggan. So my wife and I did not agree on the food here at all. First let me say that the place was decorated very nicely and the staff was absolutely amazing! We started off with drinks, my wife had the white sangria, which was fine, but I wasn't crazy about my wine choice . We then had the calamari, which she loved, but I thought was just okay. We both had the Ferry Street Steak (their take on Portuguese Steak). She loved it, but the flavors just were not right for me and I didn't care for it. One thing that we could agree on was that their chocolate mousse was the best ever! So maybe my taste buds were off this night. After all, my wife has good taste, look who she married! One of my favorite restaurants in the city. The food is fantastic with a seasonally changing menu and specials each weekend, there is always something delicious to try! All of the wait staff is attentive, friendly and will make suggestions when asked about the food items. The restaurant and very cozy outdoor dining space is always decorated and fun which enhances the experience. Very cozy and welcoming atmosphere and regular events keep you coming back time and time again. Biggest downside is that parking can be a bit tricky at times.
