Beyond 5 stars-quality customer service. I had been planning on ordering their Dinner Date To Go package for my partner's birthday, which happened to be on the same day as Thanksgiving this year. When I saw that their Tock reservations had filled up for the day, I panicked and emailed the restaurant asking if they still had any slots available. Dipesh from the restaurant responded back within 5 minutes of my original email explaining that they took down the Dinner Date packages for the day to focus on their Thanksgiving special, but that they could still help me out and take my order for the package for pick-up! His hospitality saved my partner's surprise birthday dinner, and we got to celebrate the day with incredible food and drinks for an unbeatable price. I'm still drooling over the mango cheesecake a day later. A slightly-above-average Indian restaurant, except at around 2-3x the price. The food is ok but the prices are disproportionate to what you are getting, both with respect to the quality and quantity of the food (I had two tiny strings of chicken on a chicken dish that was over $20+. I actually had to do a double-take as it seemed like it must have been a mistake). I'd be surprised if this place lasts another year. read more

Beyond Disgusted!) *Walked in 12 minutes late on a Saturday night for my 7pm Tock reservation for 2. No parking nearby, no valet, had to drive around for a while. Arrogant & rude male host fiddled around trying to find my name for the reservation. Asked if it could be under a different name. Few minutes later finally found it. "Ugh for 7pm'" he says. By then it's 7:18. They say they are trying to make room for us. Another few minutes later a 7:30 reservation walks in early & gets seated. They told us we are too late to enjoy our experience, and that we can sit at the bar (by the cold entrance). No thank you! With a very rude host, disorganization of your reservations, & telling us we don't have enough time when we are 15 minutes late, we can find plenty of other better establishments that will treat us right! Clearly our table was given away, or you lost our reservation. You need valet if you are going to give our table away on a Saturday! At least be apologetic about your own mistakes as we were of ours, instead of arrogant & rude. Have never experienced anything like that in a restaurant. Maybe a new host is in order before your grand opening. read more

We have ordered delivery from Vajra four or five times the last couple of months and they have never disappointed. The food is delicious and has arrived piping hot every single time. The gruyere stuffed Naan is a must-have. And I didn't realize that I had never had a great Samosa until I had one from here. Since Covid we've gotten a lot of delivery and some places do well packaging the food and some have no idea what they are doing. Vajra is the absolute best at it - no spills, little glass bottles for the cocktails, etc. To top it all off David the delivery person is incredibly polite and personable. read more

The food was great but it is very expensive. A meal for four people (with a bottle of wine and we each had a cocktail) was $300 plus tip. It wasn't that good to justify that price. We also ordered a bottle of wine...and 30 minutes later no wine had arrived at our table. Finally the waiter came over and said that they don't have that wine and we needed to pick another (their wine list is so expensive..most of the wine was $80-$90 for the type of wine we wanted, their mark ups were extreme I thought) and then the $80 of white wine was served to us warm. They should offer more affordable bottles of wine with the more expensive ones and make sure they are chilled. Between waiting over 40 minutes for our wine and the expense, we won't be back... I prefer Rangoli or Cumin. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner during their soft opening and loved it! The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. We are both vegetarians and I have celiac (no gluten) so it is often difficult to have a lot of options when eating out (though Indian food does typically have the most options). Our servers were wonderful about checking on what I could eat, which turned out to be nearly everything vegetarian except two appetizers and the naan, of course. All of the food we had was great, with a few real unique/delicious standouts (gruyere naan for him, dal makhani and the paneer stuffed capsicum). Can't wait to come back! read more

This was a very good experience. I came with my family in a large group. We started off with some beers and somosa chaat which was very amazing. It was flavourful and a great portion. We then ordered a few vegetarian dishes. Some included the dhaal, paneer tikka Masala, okra, and garlic naan. We also ordered the biryani. Everything was good portions and tasteful. Each dish was also presented nicely. The overall experience was nice. It was an Indian restaurant with a twist. We had a really nice time. read more

It was busy for a Monday night, so service was a little slow to start but it picked up, and the cocktails and food were so good it didn't matter. The samosa chaat was fantastic, definitely get that. Wish they had more than one vegetarian appetizer but at least the one they have is delicious. The mains were all great. Definitely going back to try more. read more

This is the best Indian/Nepalese fusion restaurant in the city! Hands down (and I have tried my fair share of Indian restaurants in the city). The service is amazing as well as management. Went on a whim here last minute. Been wanting to try it for a while. They were super accommodating for not having a reservation (it was 930 but it was packed). It took some time for us to get a waiter to our table. The manager came and apologized and told us the apps were on the house and we weren't even really upset about the wait, but it was a super nice gesture which made me want to write this review . My husband and I tried this place about a month ago. We love Indian and Nepalese food. It did not disappoint. We ordered the somosa chaat, the duck, the venison, vindaloo, garlic naan, and a paneer stuffed pepper. All of it was delicious. Spiced to perfection. The layers of flavors just kept going. Every bite was a little party in my mouth. On a side note, I LOVE garlic naan. Probably a bit too much. It might be an addiction. This one is out of control. A little thinner. A bit crispy. Best Indian food I have had in Chicago. They use really high quality ingredients (slagel farms meats, Rohan duck, free range chickens, sparrow coffee) and you can immediately tell the difference from your average Indian place in town. Currently byob, but they said they will have their liquor license soon and their mocktails looked awesome. Interior is contemporary and quite nice, definitely upscale from your typical neighborhood Asian joint. Really excited to see how this place grows, it has the makings of a great restaurant. Had dinner here with another couple. Very nice atmosphere and a wide array of creative cocktail options. The Ritz crackers that were part of the samosa app seemed out of place. The momo:cha was delicious and we ordered a second order. The two curries and two tandoor dishes were very good also. I try to put myself in the place of someone that will decide to spend $50-100 per person at a place on whether it lives up to the hype and unfortunately, this place failed on many accounts. I do not write many less than favorable reviews but this one really hits home because I am married to an Indian, and we were with Indian friends and I know how to cook for the region and the take on the flavors fell flat. There were a few highlights which were the breads, and the samosa chaat. Outside of that, the venison was TERRIBLE (overly salty, tough) barely edible, our meal took over 2 hours to be served to us and they served us the wrong wine, twice, forgot to fill our waters, forgot silverware with the rice, just the little things were adding up and if I am spending all of this money for an evening out I want it to be memorable, and this was lackluster at beat. Daal, paneer capsicum, and goat kebabs were not great, and not memorable. Save your money and splurge on authentic Indian and stick to the cocktail menu here. read more

This is an update to my previous review. I went for dinner w/ 3 friends last Friday night. We had a great time. The food was fantastic and the service was perfect and attentive. I've always loved this space and it looks beautiful w/ the changes they have made. I live in the neighborhood so I am excited about this new restaurant. We had 2 bottles of wine (it's BYOB) between 4 people (2 friends cancelled). I didn't ask if we had 6 people would we only be allowed the 2 bottles as I was told when making the reservation. However, it seemed pretty laid back so I don't think it would have mattered. Unless there is a city law that I am not aware of. :) read more

I really really like this spot. For three reasons; the ambiance, the cocktail list, the service and the food. Ha - four reasons I guess. I've been here twice now, once for dinner with a friend and once I sat alone at the bar. Both times I received good service and enjoyed what I ate and drank. The cocktail list is really broad and very interesting - things I've never seen in other places. The bartenders are nice and very talented. You know you are in the hands of someone with serious skills when you order a cocktail here. They also just created a happy hour menu for M-F 5 to 7 which has some good wine for $7 and also a few menu items for $8. I had the paneer chili and it was sooooo good. With the happy hour options, this can be a nice place to have some lively food and drink for a really reasonable price. Outside of happy hour, I would absolutely come here for a full dinner.
