Swung by Rangoli to grab a quick bite on a Sunday. The ambience was nice and clean. The service was fast too. We ordered some mysore masala dosa and Vada sambar. The Vada was undercooked and hence we requested a replacement. The replacement took ages so we decided to take it togo. Overall, price wise the place was reasonable and the food was delicious except for the undercooked Vada. They even give a platter of different chutneys for the table when you order dosas.

The food here was actually pretty good. The dosa was crispy and the lassi was good. The ambiance of the restaurant is relatively nice as well. The reason I'm giving this a 1 star review is because of the absolutely awful service. I went for their Saturday 12-3pm unlimited dosa promotion which they have been promoting online. I arrived at 1pm with a total party of 4. We were seated and then didn't get any service until 25 minutes later when we had to track down a staff member. We then were finally able to order. We didn't get water or drinks until about 45 minutes into being seated. After we ordered our food, we didn't receive it until almost 1.5 hours after. This was the case for almost every other table that was seated as well. I saw 4-5 tables leave before getting their food because they were waiting for so long (without being informed of the wait beforehand). These tables still went up to the register before leaving, so I'm not sure if they were made to pay or not even though they didn't receive any food. Each time we would ask the staff about our food they would say "15 more minutes." If this restaurant is going to run a promotion like this, then they must have the proper staff to cook in the kitchen to get food out in a timely manner. They have been running this promotion for at least 2 weeks now as per previous yelp reviews, so this must be an ongoing problem. We spent far too much time (total of almost 3 hours) here waiting for our food and it was an overall poor experience. The food was good, but that's the only good thing from this entire experience. I hope this review gets the attention of the staff at the restaurant so they can make an effort to improve their staffing for this promotion.

Finally found a go-to restaurant to satisfy my vindaloo cravings! This place was spacious, modern, and had a clean feel to the place. The lamb vindaloo is spicy but a good, edible spicy. It comes with rice, and they will give you more rice you need it! These days you have to order/pay for rice which doesn't make sense to me for a curry dish. The portion size is huge. I feel like it's double the size from what I'm used to. For rice refills and huge portion size, $19 for lamb vindaloo is great deal. They have a lunch special every day from 12-3. We ordered one of the rolls. I've never had the chicken tikka botti roll, but it was good. I especially liked the sauce that they put on the lettuce. Garlic naan was delicious! It had plenty of real minced garlic sprinkled on top and was just perfectly crispy on the bottom. Service was great. The server answered all my questions and even offered us some of the yogurt type dish to ease the heat. I will definitely be coming back for more!

The garlic naan was amazing as was the chicken tikka masala. The lamb korma was also delicious if you're looking for a new dish to try. We took leftovers home and warmed them up for lunch the next day and it was still delicious! The interior is very new and comfortable and it was not crowded at all when we went.

Excellent food and service, garlic naan is a must order! All of the items well prepared and the lamb was fall apart tender.

Disclaimer did go on Sunday hoping for the 12-3pm unlimited dosa special they are running but found out it's Saturday only for those who are interested (but would love to see it expanded to Sunday too!) Ordered the Masala Dosa and made it a mysore masala dosa (more spiced paste added.) The dosa was pretty good crispy and a lot of filling which was awesome. I am pretty picky about sambar and coconut chutney being raised on that at home, but thoroughly enjoyed both here. The other chutney was not my personal favorite but not bad either. Also love how they brought out hot ghee, carrots pickle and podi (spiced powder mixtures to be mixed with ghee and eaten with dosa/idli). Ghee and carrot pickle were pretty good too. I will say they did not disappoint in the spice department dosa was spicy even for someone who grew up eating a lot of southern Indian spice so something to note when ordering! Also ordered the mango lassi and it was one of the best I've had in Chicago so far. Service was great as well!

New Indian spot in Lakeview. For their grand opening they're offering 10 % off online orders. We decided to order take out since it was quite a rainy day. I didn't get inside by it looks like a spacious modern interior dining area. What captured my attention was the South Indian cuisine on the menu. Dosas and Idly are some of my favorites. So we went with Marsala and Karam ghee dosas and an order of veg biryani. I'm just saying these dosas were legit. At least 2 ft long, savory and tasty. The accompanying sambar was huge. A little more potato masala filling would've been a little better. The biryani was huge and good enough for two people. They not messing around with the spiciness. The pickle was hot. Request mild if it's an issue. Everything was tasty and well proportioned and a great value for the price. Definitely trying again. Pretty good!

Walked here on a Saturday evening after going to the Lakewood east art show. They do not take reservations but it was almost empty inside at 6:30 on a Saturday. I was worried but it looked like they do a good takeout business. Inside is modern looking and clean. Waitress came over to seat us quickly and gave us menus and water. Prices are reasonable. We got the fried onion straws (forget the name) for the app and they were delicious- huge portion, way too much for 2 people. For mains we got malai kofta and butter chicken. Both were good but my husband and I both liked the malai kofta better. White rice comes with the dishes. Garlic naan was wonderful- probably the best we have ever eaten. Took home lots of food. No alcohol- it's BBYO. Would definitely return to try the dosas and some of the other dishes.

    Paneer corn dosa

I have been wanting to try this place ever since I walked by and they had just had their grand opening and were giving away free rice pudding (that was delicious). I checked out their menu and saw they had paneer corn dosas. I love corn and I love dosas, so I was really excited to try that. We ordered that, the onion bhaji, and the lamb korma. The food was good, but the dosa and bhaji did not blow me away. I really wanted it to (my friends liked the food), but I will probably go elsewhere for my next dosa / fried food craving, which is unfortunate because I adore dosas and fried foods generally. However, the lamb korma was sooooo delicious. I loved it a lot and enjoyed eating the leftover korma later. The staff also was nice. So even though I was personally a bit disappointed by the dosa and bhaji and won't likely be coming back again, five stars for the lamb korma.

Butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, veggie samosa, and garlic naan
    Samir K.

Still trying to find a solid Indian place in the city and with a strong craving I figured this relatively new spot would be worth the try. My friend and I did pickup and got the butter chicken dinner (comes with two veggie samosas), lamb vindaloo, garlic naan, and an aloo paratha. All of that only costs about $50 and they have a $10 off special. While the food was a little soggy, I put that on us for the time it took for us to eat. Starting with the veggie samosas, they were a good size, stuffed to the brim and a very tasty filling. This was my favorite thing. The aloo paratha wasn't for me while the garlic naan had a good amount of garlic on top and was half fluffy and half crispy. Both curries were very disappointing. The meats were cooked nicely but the gravies were supper watery and bland. The distinct flavors of a butter chicken and vindaloo were no where to be found. While the price was nice and there was plenty of food, the flavors weren't there. With that being said, I will continue to be on the quest to find my go to Indian spot.

Everything we ordered here was tasty and the service was friendly and attentive. The staff really seem to care about the food and have been helpful with suggestions. I've now been back to try more dishes and they continue to impress. This place feels kind of special, I love a place that seems to have heart and I think this is one of those places. My favorites are the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, the kashmiri pulav, and the gobi manchurian. The kashmiri pulav has a really nice savory sweetness to it. The butter chicken and chicken tikka masala are just great versions of these dishes that are so rich and creamy I just want to keep eating them. The gobi manchurian (fried cauliflower with a sweet nan spicy sauce) is extraordinary. One of the best cauliflower dishes I've ever had. I'd also highly recommend trying the dosa. I've tried the karam + ghee dosa and it was very very good. The dosa bread is massive and is wonderfully crunchy and bready. The items to dip in were also all very tasty (I don't remember them all). We also tried the onion bhajee, pav bhaji, chicken korma, and the gulab jamun, which were all tasty as well.

Awesome flavor and value all at once. You will be STUFFED when you leave this place. I have tried both the Chicken Haryali and the Paneer Butter Masala and both were stunningly good. The latter is pictured here. They come out fresh, steaming hot (definitely give it a minute to cool), and with more than enough rice. You can (aka should) get some naan to go with your food, it's a perfect way to eat almost everything here. I can also vouch for the mango lassi, it's very rich in flavor and consistency. It's a great dessert or accompaniment to your meal here. I will 100% be back!

Business picked up a little over the next hour, but generally speaking it seems Thursdays are slow. The restaurant is beautiful. There were two people working out front. They were kind, but not overly ebullient. When ordering we asked if one serving of rice would be enough for two. She suggested we order two servings. We didn't need two servings. One bowl of the Basmati Rice was plenty for two...at least these two. I decided I wanted to try something different. We have had Momo before, but nothing like Chicken Momo Chili Fry (steamed dumplings of minced chicken seasoned with nepalese spices and herbs | fried | sauteed with green chili, bell peppers, onions, ginger and spicy garlic-chili paste). What an amazing dish! I'm not a huge fan of super spicy food, but the Chicken Momo Chili Fry was outstanding. The spiciness was spicy flavor, not just heat. They were delicious. And the veggies (green peppers and onions) were so tender and flavorful. If you are a fan of spicy then you need to try this dish. You will not be disappointed. Keeping with the 'trying new things' theme, I ordered Gorkhali Khasi (chunks of bone-in goat meat stewed in flavourful nepalese spices | a delicious spice forward sauce with tomatoes, onions and nepalese spices) with a side of Basmati Rice. The dish was very tasty, but the bone-in goat was a lot of work. Once off the bone (though I still ended up with bones in my mouth, which was nerve wracking) some of the pieces were tender and delicious. Other pieces were a bit gristly. Since the flavor was great, when we return I will likely order this dish with chicken. Mark ordered Chicken Tikka Masala (spice-marinated diced boneless white meat chicken cooked to perfection in tandoor | simmered in rich creamy tomato sauce). He raved about it! When he was finished it looked as if he has licked his bowl. In fact, he used some naan (we ordered Garlic Naan) to get every last drop of the sauce out of the bowl. The Garlic Naan was good, but I must have been full. I didn't finish one piece. There were four in a serving. I had to take a picture of the silver and gold wear. So very fancy, but a bit over the top. The plates were beautiful and were warm when they were brought to the table. We had a delightful meal. Oh... don't know if it is always like this, but we were there well over an hour. There was no rush whatsoever. Next time we are in town staying at City Suites, we will definitely return to Cumin!
