Indian Clay Pot has become one of my new favorites for #indian in #Chicago. While Indian food is not new to me, I was not quite familiar with southern Indian style . While it appeared to be primarily a carry out business , if you get a chance to eat there, you'll have a wonderful time. The service is friendly and very accommodating. Some recommendations include the Manchurian Gobi (cauliflower), paneer, and of course butter chicken!! We got two types of naan and paratha which. We happened to go on a very cold day, so there weren't quite as many folks there, but think it's probably a fun place during better weather!

Best Indian cuisine in Chicago. Been coming here for couple years and every time food is fresh & savory!

Food: 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Food: I ordered Vegetable Vindaloo and it was pretty good. The level of spice was very good and the flavor was tasty. It was on the saltier side but I still liked it. They have A LOT of vegan options, which I appreciate. The vegetable samosas are also very tasty. Atmosphere: They have a patio out back, which is ideal during this pandemic. It's a nice establishment but the service wasn't geeat

My wife gives ICP a 4-* as many many others do as well. The spiced cauliflower appetizer was A-mazing, a not miss for sure! The culinary highlight for us all! I, however, found my chosen entree, a gravy-based lamb dish, visually un-appealing, gelatinous in consistency, and generally not very tasty. The service was mediocre. Food dropped off and then we never heard from our servers again until they dropped off the bill. So funny how that works. :-| However, there were at least 25% of the seats filled by people who may have grown up with this cuisine so what do I know? I'm from Nebraska, ask me about steaks! I do believe had I chosen a spicy, not gravy, selection the outcome would have been far different. I will return and encourage you to try ICP as my opinion was the minority in my group. Also, you should know the take-out and deliver was going non-stop, incredible volume of people coming and going. It was nearly a FT role for one person on that Friday night. And the tables turned over twice around us. So, again, what do I know?! :-) ICP is right off the Brown Line so its locale is easy to access, excellent! Sincerely, Patrick Shaughnessy Chicago, IL

Passed this place a bunch over the years. First time dining here was last Sunday. Ordered the lamb briyani. Generous portions size, justifies the price. Easily got 2 meals from it. Savory/ delicious taste as well. Had the right amount of spice for me.

An impromptu Friday dinner with friends ... our group comprised of 8 adults and 5 kids . The food was freshly made , customized to our request. The service was attentive, Harsha kept checking on our large group. We had a few appetizers gobi Manchuria, samosas and Gobi65. The entrées included veg biryani, naans, bhindi masala, veg curry, paneer. We got only 1 order of mango kulfi which went around the table. Enough small squares for all. Best part of this small hole in the wall Indian restaurant is the BYOB!!!

Ordered a delivery from Indian Claypot. Chilli Gobi: 4/5 Vegetable Biryani: 3.5/5 Good big portions and well packed. Biryani was bit Curryish taste. I was expecting more like traditional Dum Biryani taste but it's slightly more of curry mixed taste. It came with Raita and mango pickle. Chilli Gobi was Spicy and Very tasty. Overall good food.

All the reviews are true. The food here is so good! I'm so glad this Indian spot replaced the not so great restaurant previously in this space. The service is quick and the staff is so nice. We sat at a table for two by the front door and during our meal I noticed a steady flow of more customers-take out, delivery, and eat in. High demand! My husband and I ordered the butter naan, chicken tikka masala, chicken curry, and basmati rice. The tikka masala was to. die. for. I wish we ordered 2 plates and another to take home. The curry was great but I asked for medium spiced and it was just a bit too spicy for me. And the butter naan - the best! I foresee my husband and I going here a lot. We live very close! There's also a Groupon+ for 5% cash back. I know 5% isn't a ton, but just thought I'd mention it. It's close to the brown line Irving Park stop, so very convenient to order and pick up for dinner. This is a must try in North Center!

Overall: Not the best Indian in the world, but Indian Clay Pot more than gets the job done. Bar none to other options in the area. The good: The dishes were rich and flavorful. We had a large group so we were able to try a variety of different platters, and none of them disappointed. The paneer was rich and thick, the butter chicken was tender, and the clay pot chicken spicy and juicy. The naan was cooked to perfection as well and was a great complement to the dishes. Plus it was BYOB. The not-so-good: For the amount you pay, the food quantity is disappointing. If I'm paying $12-$15 for an entree, it should be more than 3-4 scoops worth. Didn't include rice or naan either. Which would've been fine if it was half the price. Made sharing difficult among our big group. The atmosphere has a somewhat tacky vibe. Food: 8/10 Atmosphere: 7.5/10 Service: 8/10

We started lunch at 12:30 pm and finished around 3 pm. The curries were flavorful and delicious, but the biryani was a bit disappointing. There was no flavor or spice to the rice. I would skip on that. The goat curry, butter chicken, bread bowl, chicken tikka masala and okra curry were all solid. For 6 dishes, it was about $140 with tax and tip. Restaurant has plenty of seating options, from booths to tables and they also have high chairs for kids. We went on a Sunday for lunch and there was only one other party there. One piece of feedback for the restaurant would be use different takeout containers. The ones provided did not prevent the curry from spilling out when there's movement. They were fine for rice dishes, but not for anything with liquid. I recommend coming here for lunch or dinner if you're craving Indian!

It's the same concept as Boiling Crab or Kickin Crab in California. It is BYOB! So I walked across the street to Target, got some Seltzers and brought them to our table. This is prob the one thing that I love the most. Great service. The seafood boil is pretty good. They give you a bib and gloves to keep you relatively clean. You have to use your hands to eat your food and work for it. Go for the seafood Cajun sauce (garlic, butter, lemon pepper). It was super good flavor. Mild is the way to go. We asked for spicy sauce on the side for an extra dollar. I would skip the preset family meals. Order 1-2 lbs of your favorite seafood. They have prices per lb on the large chalk board. The shrimp, crawfish was cooked well. The crab legs were boiled before cooked, so the shell was soft and easy to cut with scissors. Next time, I'd get the shrimp, crawfish, clams, and mussels. The family feast ($145)- came with king crab, snow crab, option of 2 from shrimp, crawfish, mussels, clams. Also, a scoop of rice, green beans, garlic noodles, and fries. I would pass on the king crab and snow crab. Garlic noodles were average. Fries were average . They also sell boba drinks if you like that

First, the service itself was good, we were seated right away with no reservations, but upon entering the restaurant has a very strong almost mildew like smell. Our server let us know right away that they were short staffed in the kitchen and therefore orders were taking 45 minutes to an hour to come out. Not a problem, we understand and ordered some apps to get us by. The food is why I'm giving it 3 starts. We ordered the calamari, which was soooo overcooked it was tough and chewy, I couldn't even swallow it. We ordered the cajun fries too and they were okay. My partner and I both ordered king crab legs with the house cajun sauce. Let me just say the sauce itself was amazing! Super delicious and tasty, not too salty, very flavorful. But both of our king crab legs were way overcooked, to the point where the meat seemed shrunk, it was very firm and rubbery/gummy. Unfortunately for paying such a high price for 1lb, this was extremely disappointing. Being that 3 seperate dishes were overcooked, I personally wouldn't return for this reason alone. Very disappointed but I feel like this issue can easily be fixed! Hoping to return one day because the flavors were definitely there, but unfortunately not anytime soon.
