My boyfriend and I come here probably 3 times a week for take out! Almost everything we've tried here has been super tasty and fresh. The portions are good and I love how they don't put too much rice in the rolls- adding more emphasis on the freshness of the fish. It's surprising because V Sushi is also one of the only sushi restaurants open past 10PM, yet it's still better than a lot of the Japanese restaurants in the area. With its affordable price tag, it's rare to find places that aren't charging an arm and leg for simple, delicious rolls. This place does it perfectly. Definitely a staple! I sent back my Dynamite roll because it tasted "off" and old after one bite. They charged me for it anyways which I wasn't expecting. The Avocado salad was wonderful and filling so I didn't go hungry and the beer was cold and served in a cold glass. I would have rated the meal a 4, even with the off tasting roll, but the service wasn't consistent. They took my order efficiently, brought it quickly and then didn't check back until I flagged them down. They lost out on another beer sale because I was thirsty. I remember the first time I walked into V sushi. I was greeted with a warm smile and some playful banter was shared between me and the sushi chef Charlie. We didn't know each other but we went along with it. The sushi was great and the customer service was great as well. The second time was recent we walked in and said hi to the chef like usual! "Hey Charlie! How's are the kids?" But to our surprise he treated us with respect and kindness. Charlie was sending us shots and sparkling sake which was amazing! Great guy! I HAD VERY HIGH HOPES FOR THIS PLACE. I would see it all the time on Door Dash and when I saw it on Yelp the reviews were amazing. Unfortunately, when I actually went to the place it was far from amazing but closer to basic. My friend was in town and she wanted to get Sushi and one of the sushi places that was open for lunch and near Milpitas was V Sushi so we went here. I was a little excited because of all the good reviews. When we got there one of our friend had already gotten seated and right when we sat down the waitress asked us if we were ready to order. We weren't we just sat down, but it's fine she gave us time to look at the menu but kept hovering back and forth. I get it the place isn't that big but I saw her multiple times looking at us seeing if we were ready to order. I bet you If you are reading this you are probably like wow this girl is complaining about someone trying to give her good service. It wasn't good service it was hovering to the point where I felt RUSHED. The place wasn't even busy it was us another table and a guy sitting at the bar. If it was busy we most likely would have hurried up and ordered because we would not what to be "that table." Anyways my friend got two rolls, I got two rolls, and our other friend got a bento box. Everything was very mediocre so I'm not even going to waste my time naming the different rolls we got. I personally believe this place has good reviews because it's super cheap. You can get a Lion King here for $12.99 and other places a Lion King roll can run up to about $20. I will never choose cheapness over quality. On top of that our waitress was just hovering the whole time!!! My husband and I came by on a Sunday, and we were overall pretty happy with what we found. As a disclaimer, I am a vegetarian (no fish) and allergic to eggs, but my husband is omnivorous. I was happy to see that there were a couple more interesting vegetarian offerings amongst the sushi rolls beyond the usual avocado roll, kappa/cucumber roll, and maybe one other veggie roll. My one warning for vegans is that the tempura batter has egg in it, and anything sweet potato or pumpkin is tempura-battered unless you specifically ask for it not to be. Also, I suspect the oil for the tempura is used for everything, so if you're really strict, avoid anything deep fried. To avoid the eggy tempura batter, I got the GreenPeace roll, which was nice, but sweeter than I usually prefer my sushi (probably on account of both mango and sweet chili sauce). The Mango Secret has tempura battered sweet potato in it, but otherwise sounds similar to the GreenPeace. There's also a vegetarian udon on the menu, but I have yet to try it. Given that this was October, I was interested in getting the pumpkin roll (and because it was an unusual offering to my experience--I'm more used to sweet potato rolls, but they happen to have both on the menu), and because of the description on the menu not mentioning tempura batter where the Mango Secret roll does, I thought maybe the pumpkin was just deep fried naked. Granted, I was ordering this from the same waitress I'd just asked about the tempura batter due to my egg allergy (and mentioned the allergy), so I figured she'd say something if I was ordering something with tempura batter, but she didn't. When it arrived, I realized I should have explicitly asked about it and tried re-ordering without the batter because I was hungry and the one roll wasn't enough. After some back and forth Mandarin with one of the chefs, they got me a batter-free pumpkin roll, and it was okay. Husband got to take home the "error" roll for later, so it all turned out well enough. The edamame/soybean appetizer was pretty generous, and nicely salty. My husband got a couple of salmon and tuna negiri, and apparently the fish was very fresh and the fish to rice ratio was generous, so he was very happy. Overall, this seems like a decent place to pick up some sushi. I always wish to see more interesting vegetarian/vegan offerings in sushi places, and since my personal preference for sushi tends more towards savory than sweet, I am not likely to frequent this place that often, but it's good to know that it's here if I'm in the mood! read more

We have been getting delivery from this place for the past month or so. So far most of the food has been decent. This poor rating has to do solely with their udon and soup dishes. If it's a take out or delivery, they should separate the noodles from the soup. I don't care if the noodles literally come in a plastic bag. The first time I ordered the nabeyaki udon, two pieces of shrimp were promised; only one piece arrived. The second time, it took the door dasher over 2 hours to get my food to me. Because of that and the fact that they do not separate their noodles from their soup, I paid $14 (more like $20 with the added fees) for a bowl of disgustingly soggy mess. Friendly and accommodating staff, attention to detail and quick service, the food was absolutely delicious (we had the shrimp tempura appetizer, and the rest was sushi and sashimi), generous portions, a decent price. I was so happy to find a sushi spot in Milpitas that had good, legit sushi! The sashimi salad was delicious and loaded with really nice, buttery smooth pieces of fresh fish. The salad itself was not overly drenched in sauce - it was all perfectly balanced. The mango crunch roll was delicious - nice chunk of mango in each bite & texture of the fresh fish with the crunchy outside was perfect. The veggie tempura was also good. I'm sure it would have been perfect had I had it fresh, but I ordered it as takeout, so by the time I got it home, I had to reheat it and it got soggy (was too lazy to reheat in air fryer or toaster oven but that would have made it perfect), but the taste was great! I did notice that the prices on the online ordering services seemed to be a dollar more for each dish than on their menu (I could be wrong) but the convenience of online ordering is too enticing. My food was ready much earlier than expected though, so it had to sit there for a bit until I was ready to go pick up. Not a huge deal. V Sushi is one of our go-to local sushi dine-in and delivery spots in the Milpitas area. My partner is vegetarian but she loves all the options here, and I really enjoy them as well! Some of their rolls are on the pricey side but not enough to deter us from coming by. Our personal favorites are the Mango Secret roll and the Yoshi Special roll. I do think their interior decor and design could use some work, but since we order take our or delivery half the time it hasn't been an issue for us. Ordered from DoorDash, the quality of fish was not good. I ordered the jalapeño bomb, the v sushi roll, and the angry dragon roll. All of the fish tasted old, all of the items ordered tasted like they were premade and sent out when ordered. Nothing fresh about any of the items. This is the second time I come here but the second time was not as good as the first. I ordered through Doordash and picked up my order. It was ready super fast which was great. I ordered 3 total rolls and two of them were California rolls. The crab was very dry, the avocados were brown in some areas, and everything was just very average. What bothered me the most was the very dry crab. The rice was also dry as well, not moist. It just sucks to pay $15 for a dry roll. I was craving late night sushi and I was looking for places still open. I happened on this place near In N Out and the prices were a little cheaper than usual places so I decided to try it out. It's actually so much better than I was expecting for the price! The rolls filled me up (I got the lion king and shrimp tempura roll) and they were really sweet. I think they were tired from the late hours but they were so nice to me and from what I saw they have outdoor dining and while I was waiting they were also checked in on their dining guests quite a bit. I should have checked the reviews before coming here. I do NOT recommend this place and won't ever be coming back. After picking up my takeout order, I checked my food realized too many things were missing. 1. They forgot to add any chopsticks or any utensils (Maybe they are trying to save the cost or the environment, but even so, they should ask the customer if they want utensils or not. Especially when they are charging $20- $30 a dish chopsticks cost cents) 2. They forgot to give us soy sauce packets (Maybe they assume all customers have soy sauce at their companies or at home so they don't need to provide it, but this was a big miss since we didn't have it and we were forced to just use the wasabi alone. The restaurant was too far and we didn't want to go to the grocery store since we were too hungry.) 3. They forgot an ENTIRE sushi roll. (I understand it happens from time to time, but the crazy thing is I called them for a refund and they could not refund the missed item over the phone, so I had to drive all the way back to get my money. It was $20 dollars which made it something I couldn't just let go. It took 20 minutes to drive there and 20 minutes back, such a shame with current gas prices.) It's so annoying when a fast food place forgets an item, but this is a different level when it's a $20 item. This place was such a waste of my time and money. This is one of the few restaurants that aren't closed after 2:30PM during the weekdays. They have dine in seating and outdoor seat which is nice during these times. When you arrive, you know this place is a family own restaurant. The staffs are very casual to customers. The front of the store is where you get seated, and paid for their service. They have the typical sushi center where you can see the chef make the sushi. We order the veggie tempura, ikura (salmon roe) nigiri, V sushi roll, spider roll, lion king, and beef teriyaki. Everything is served in to go containers which is nice in the sense you don't have to worry about it being clean enough. TIP: order lion king early so you do not have to wait to long. The veggie tempura had sweet potatoes, pumpkin, broccoli, and cucumber. There might had been another type of veggie but I can't remember. Can't really go wrong in order this. Their beef teriyaki came with soup, salad, two oranges and rice. It was not too bad. The lion king was sauce which is the way I prefer to have it. Overall for the rolls, the flavor was very meh. We could taste something off with the lion king. We think the fish they got for it was not clean thorough to get the "gamey" taste out. We ended up getting the ikura nigiri last after asked the staff for it. We think they forgot it. The service was okay as well. We had asked for a spoon for the soup but I think our server got distract and forgot about it until we asked for it a second time. read more
