I recently had a number of oversized envelopes and a couple of packages that needed to be shipped. The postal worker assisting me was very helpful. I wasn't sure how many stamps I'd need for the oversized envelopes but she helped me figure it out, purchase stamps, and also got my packages shipped out. I was given a week timeline for standard shipping but much to my surprise, the packages were all delivered within 1-2 days. I got an email receipt each time one was delivered which gave me peace of mind, too. Each package only cost about $8 to ship which I thought was excellent. I recently shipped another, similarly sized package via UPS and it cost $20! I would definitely recommend this location if you want efficient shipping at a good price. This is the worst location by far. Imagine relying on a location to help you get your passport and for some odd reason the person who is over this can't show up to their shift. You guys are ruining travel plans for my family and it's ridiculous. So now we have to drive all the way to Washington, D.C. to complete this task. I literally came on here to counter the negative reviews. I don't know what people are expecting. But here's the truths: yes, they close for lunch. They have to eat, so that makes sense. The time they are closed is posted clearly in the door, and also online. It's an hour and 15 minutes, which seems reasonable to eat then clock back in. The people who work at this post office are super nice! I've only had pleasant experiences, and there's a guy with a long beard who plays cool music as well. It's clean and organized, and the employees are kind and seem to care. Exactly what more are we expecting? That they should never have a lunch? That's silly. It's a great post office. This is the best post office. Despite the reviews - it's quite pleasant...if there is a wait it's not too long. Understanding how Covid has effected us all and staff is low... being patience is not that bad...because eventually you'll get to the counter and your package will be shipped accordingly. The manager Shaun/Shawn ( don't know how he spells it) is awesome. His customer service and willingness to help quickly and effectively was appreciated. It's clean and had boxes. She snaps they are in the middle. I walked over to the Empty slot. She wouldn't even look over. Stood in line again. I should her there are no forms. She went to the back put some in and walked away. Completely different experience today, due to Shanay!!! Give that fine employee a raise and a bonus! She could train everyone else in this country in customer service. She was beyond polite, kind, helpful, extremely knowledgeable and efficient. We were mailing things internationally and she was able to figure out a better way for us to do it. I can't thank her enough. Next time I come to this post office, I'm going to see if she is there and wait for her. There were two employees serving customers this morning, which was greatly appreciated. It's especially nice to have something not be a headache during these covid times. read more

Our mail carrier has been afraid of my golden retriever since he was a two-month-old puppy. Not outside - but when the dog is in the house. If he is barking, she will not deliver our mail. She once left our mail on a bench in the rain rather than come to our house. If she is that afraid of dogs, she should be on a route that only delivers to apartment buildings. read more

Who hasn't suffered the indignity of waiting in long lines with heavy packages, or waited nervously at the last-minute to mail federal or state income taxes? At the same time, getting and giving gifts via USPS is one of the little joys in life that e-commerce, blogging, and all the Internet rest cannot ever fully replace. There is just something uncanny about a greeting card on good paper stock with a hand-written message inside. Or what could be more off-putting than a "bill past due" notice that arrives in one of those awful letters w/ the clear plastic window on the front? This Hampden branch of the often-criticized but nonetheless essential USPS is better than most. It's big, for one, and has staffers who smile and handle the lines with forbearance and sometimes even a little bit of amazing grace. The parking lot is moderately-sized, and there is ample free street parking nearby. It's within walking distance to the Avenue (36th) and the Miracle on 34th St, which is lovely this time of year. The USPS ain't no one's idea of a prime destination (no sane person's idea, at any rate), so I'm not exactly asking you to go out of your way to come here. But, if you HAVE postal options and are frustrated with your local branch, consider coming to this one. We never loved the place (I'm no postal groupie), but it carved out a fond spot in our memories of living the charmed life in North Baltimore. read more

This location is closer to me, but I prefer to go to another location to get better service. I would definitely love to give this zero stars. I have been to this post office several times because it's in walking distance of my house I have had the same experience every time. The younger lady is quiet and pleasant for the most part. The older one who is usually there is absolutely terrible. She is rude, loud, and completely disrespectful. I try to avoid her if possible. Line out the door and no one at any of the three registers for 10 minutes?!?!? Absurd for only 10:30 am :( This location is hidden and truth be told i missed it twice. My expectations did not sink until I waited behind the 3 people in front of me and watched the line extend to out the odor. Normally I don't do this but I had plenty of time to kill so I counted the registers. There are 3 registers and 4 counters. The 4th counter I assume is for packaging. I also counted the camera and noted that there were 4 all of which I was tempted to stick my tongue at hoping they would see me. The next post office is quite far from my office in comparison to this location but the convenience factor does not exist at this location. What a pity! read more

This facility "lost" my package. I paid for priority mail and SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION to ensure my package would arrive promptly and my buyer would get his package to sign for. Mr. John James (the post master) at the place; every time i talked to him he'd ignore my questions pretending he didn't hear them. What makes matters worse is that he'd always promise to call me back on the package, but not ONCE did he call me back. A simple explanation would also be nice, instead of "I don't know what to tell you" which is what he told me the last time i spoke to him This is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS that I'm paying for a simple service, but they can't seem to accomplish. Don't come on a Saturday. When I went there was only one person behind the counter. But to really add insult to injury, THERE WERE NO PENS AT THE PREP COUNTER. So, if you didn't bring anything in to write with, you will basically get in line, be given a pen, and told to get back in line again. read more

The personnel at this branch are excellent spokesmen for UPS, FEDEX, DHL, or any other private company that delivers parcels. This post office is definitely one of the worst & most inefficient post offices in Baltimore city. The postal clerks need customer service training to properly know how to help & treat customers.It should really be closed down for the number of psycho-path female clerks that work at the front counter.I have always had problems receiving packages in a timely manner as well as having the back office staff barcode the tracking number for a status update.When my package does arrive they rarely put a yellow package notice in my mailbox to let me know it has been delivered. There are always long waiting lines because only one postal clerk is available to work the front counter.The front counter clerks always has a hard time finding my packages when I do receive a package notice and at times will tell me to come back a day later while they try to find it in the back office.The back office staff does not have enough common sense to place a small package in my mail box even though it fits and will only leave a yellow package receipt notice which shows they have not been trained. read more

I think that this sentiment sums it up for me. If you don't like your customer service job, get a different job. One where you don't have to interact with the public. Paying customers should be treated with a little bit of respect at the very least, this branch offers zero. Are the customers grouchy? Cause and effect. I like lunch, I like to run errands at lunch, like going to the post office for example. Forget this place at lunch, closed up tight for an hour an 15 minutes every day! It's like Andy Griffith or something from the 50's where shops close on Sundays and for lunch, except they don't give you the benefit of the quaint "gone fishin" sign. I'm spending my time writing this instead of taking what should be 2 minutes to buy some stamps and mail a letter. I've been here twice this week and each time I've waited for them to open well past 9am. Right now as I type this I've been here since 8:55am and it's 9:25 and still no one had opened the doors. The line had 9 people waiting. Every time I come here it lives up to the expectation of having some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I am shocked at how rude the customer service is at this Post Office. I arrived at 9, but nobody opened the doors until 9:05. No problem- I was still trying to get my package in order. When I got up to the counter, the woman, Vanessa, was so rude to me. No "hello", no smile, and no acknowledgement that I was even there. She rolled her eyes when I asked her to check the size of the box to see if I'd be upcharged and asked her to see what it would cost to do Priority vs. not. Nobody else was in there, so it's not like I was holding up a line. I went to grab a pen and she said "don't TAKE that Priority tape if you're not sending Priority". I was having a great day until I was greeted by her rude attitude. I mail out A LOT of packages- at least 10 a week. But I hate coming to this location and actually choose to walk a mile to MICA just to avoid interacting with the postal workers here. 1. Make sure you tape everything up before getting there because you might get yelled at for trying to use their tape. 2. Make sure you know what you want before getting in line. One time I was trying to decide how many stamps to purchase, and they made me move to the side. 3. If you have a printer, print out USPS shipping labels at home, tape them to your package and then leave them on the counter to the very far right. This is my new strategy and so far, no packages have been lost and they usually scan them that night. Most importantly, YOU DONT HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE! 4. Yes the lady will probably roll her eyes at you, but don't take it personally. I think she does this to everyone and actually, working a post office can be really frustrating. I've definitely been behind customers in line that seem like they've never mailed anything in their entire life and I would probably yell at them too like 'NO you can't mail this vase filled with water and flowers to Amsterdam!' 5. "You c'ain't keep doin' that!" said VANESSA. Sigh, here's my run in with the mean lady at the Hampden post office. I went to the Hampden location to pick up my held mail, and informed Vanessa that I would need to submit another hold mail request within the next few days. Vanessa's head spun, she did some kind of magical wave with her hand and shouted, "You c'ain't keep doin' that!" I was as at a loss for words. I was floored...this woman took rude, ignorant and unprofessional to another level. I asked to speak to the supervisor who concurred that..."you cain't keep doin' that" because they are in the business to make money and that I would need to purchase a PO box. Huh? However, when I explained that I was on an emergency deployment, she agreed to hold my mail as a courtesy. I opted not to because I was extremely upset, and I hightailed it out of crazy-land. I called customer service for clarification of the USPS mail hold policy and he...wait for it...agreed with Vanessa and her supervisor that "you c'ain't keep doin' that." So, apparently it's totally left to the discretion of the post master how often one can request a mail hold. How will I know when I've reached my mail hold limit? Why isn't there a written policy? Moreover, why does VANESSA still have a job? read more
