I came on a Tuesday morning around 7:45, I waited 15 minutes in line (think drive in car wash style) and the test itself took less than 10 minutes. There's several lines to wait in, there were 2 when I came by but they opened a third one as there were busy. I had my check done by a nice man who I chatted with for the duration of the test (10 minutes). The test itself was less than $15 and came with a paper receipt that you can submit to the MVA. I would return to this location if I need another smog check. read more

I have been to multiple VEIP stations over the years. This was by far my best experience Ever. The state of Maryland website has live cameras so you can see the line and it gives an estimated wait time. The staff was extremely efficient and friendly. I was in and out in less than two minutes! Let me start with this: Your experience will vary based on the individual running your test. I've been to this particular station twice now. The first time I came I forgot my wallet so I had to go home to retrieve it. When I came back it was a quick test and the gentleman was courteous, professional, and accommodating. When I came through today, I was directed right into the bay. I didn't even have to wait. However, I felt like the woman 1) Didn't want to be there and 2) Had no patience at all. She asked me a million questions in quick succession. Of course I'm exaggerating, but that's how it felt. I must've said, "Excuse me" about 5 times. I got notice in the mail that my van was due for its emissions inspection. I went on the website www.mva.maryland.gov to find an inspection center and saw that this location was open on Saturday! So I drive over and the place looks like an overflowing parking lot. I said no to that and came back around Monday around 1:15 pm. I got in one of the open lanes, and was the third car in line. The lady who serviced my auto was very cheerful! It took me less than 15 minutes, $14, and I was done! read more

I've completed my emissions test at this VEIP station twice. This time around it was much busier, but I attribute it to two different factors-the time of day (1pm) and it being the day after a state holiday (Labor Day). The VEIP workers were efficient and generally friendly. I waited in line for about 20 minutes, but once it was my turn, it only took about 5 minutes. None of us vehicle owners have a choice in the emissions test, and this location doesn't make it so bad, given that it's mandatory. read more

Rarely would I rate a government run institution with so many stars, buy my experience yesterday at the Erdman Ave VEIP Station left me feeling pretty darn happy!!! My wife forgot to have her car inspected by the deadline that passed two weeks ago, so I was expected to be chewed out or made to feel low... this did not happen (I did however have to pay her late fee on top of the inspection fee... LOL, but that's marriage right... there is always a cost... ops... shouldn't go there... LOL). I was having visions of what happened to me two years earlier when I sat in line for two hours waiting to get my car inspected. Nope, this did not happen yesterday, nope not at all!!!! I pulled in at 8:45AM fully expecting to wait.... but nope, I was flagged right on in one of the bays. The vehicle emissions inspector was not only polite, but courteous as well as efficient. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. It actually took longer to run my credit card payment than it did for the test this year. Wow, what a wonderful experience!! I pulled out at 8:46AM.... heading on to Starbuck's for some Java!!! Yahoo!! Ops wrong web site... LOL!!! Most times government employees forget they're there to serve the public... yup I'm the public!!! And since the VEIP program belongs to the infamous MVA (you know what I mean... long lines, rude and indifferent people, lining up like cattle... you get the picture, right ? Yeah, I thought so... LOL!!!). Well I had to look to make sure that the VEIP was still part of a state government agency... yup there was the official Maryland signs and symbols for all to see. Wow... can't say I'm looking forward to going back (because I'm not), but I'm not having nightmares of enduring a long morning of hurry up and waiting in my car either!!! Thursdays and Fridays are the best days to come here. Any other day (closed Sundays and holidays) you should expect to wait at least 30+ minutes...but let's be honest- that's not a bad length of time considering the amount of vehicles in the lines. The 2 times that I've been here, they've been prompt, albeit a little lacking in warmth. I'm not here for chit chat, I'm here to get in and get out and they're pretty decent at doing just that. read more

Today i went to this the Erdman Ave. emissions facility. A few days prior i had spent over $600 on a new secondary air pump, combi valve, fuse, vaccuum lines, labor, etc, basically an all new secondary air injection system for my vehicle. I felt very confident on passing the emissions test. Went in around noon due to taking a half day at work to get emissions finally over with and waited 15 minutes for my test. The test failed and i was sent to the front office to discuss my options. I was given 4 months to come back to the station and provide either all hard copy receipts of the work done, or go back to my mechanic and have him do a full reset on my ECU. I had gotten home and called my mechanic to discuss first and he assured that the 4 tests he had ran prior to me picking up the vehicle had passed and no more check engine light. I proceeded to print out all of the receipts and headed back to the station 2 hours later and 15 miles away. The reason for failing on the paper print out from emissions facility said "no communication with ecu". I know for a fact that my inexpensive obd2 scanner and my mechanics reader had communication. When I arrived, I went directly to the front office and stated that I wanted a re-test due to a probable communication failure with their equipment. The man said i cant come back for 8 days! I said why 8 days? Who makes this stuff up? After my receipts werent adoquate for me to receive a waiver for the first test. I argued that i wanted to go back through the line and have a different person stick the equipment cable into my obd2 port. I said, " this time, please make sure you push it all the way in!" She did as i asked and whispered to me " let me tell you a secret, the manager did your first test today and didnt know what she was doing. But you passed this time." Big money grab from the state and huge waste of time in my opinion. Im sure a lot of people feel the same about this "earth tax", as in clean emissions. But i feel somewhat humble now, because earth day is this week and now i have 2 more years until i have to pay the state again for another potential debacle. Lesson learned, with on site testing, make sure they shove that damn cable all the way up theres. Peace. read more

Google maps got me here pretty easily. (I couldn't quite remember the way my hubby goes). Painless process. I'm here at 9:50am in a Saturday and the wait isn't bad at all. (I've been here when it's been a much longer wait). Today I'm being seen only after a 15 min wait. Oh tip: bring the paper with you they send in the mail, but if u forget no worries just have ur vehicle registration. And u can pay cash or credit. $14 if u are on time with getting the inspection. I was so impressed with how quickly I was in and out. It took 17 minutes from arrival to exiting the inspection bay. This location is better on Thursday and Friday for quicker processing times. $14.00 and off to the next task of the day! I would highly recommend this location for your emissions testing, and did I mention the customer service was great as well. read more

No one enjoys having to go to the VEIP Station but when it's only $10 minutes from your house and the staff is friendly, it makes for a quick and painless experience. I have never had to wait for more than 20 minutes here and the staff has been nothing short of fabulous. Easiest test I've PASSED in my life! read more

I would not recommend this location. The lady failed my car without explaining why and when I asked for specifics, she said she couldn't find the OBD cable. I have a Honda Civic so it shouldn't be that hard to find. Then I went to the station in Glen Burnie. The were incredibly nice there, didn't charge me again because they thought it was silly she couldn't find the cable, and the whole process took only 5 minutes. read more

The wait time was a solid 30 minutes for 5 cars. We went on a Friday at 8:30am when they opened. Only 4 of the 6 bays were working and the inspectors were moving very slowly. For a test that takes less than 30 seconds, I was surprised how long this took. I know the other reviewers thought this was a fast process and for anything involving the MVA it really was lightening speed. But compared to the real world (getting a latte, fast food drive through, returning an item at Target), it was long wait. Just manage your expectations. read more

When I went , the wait time wasn't even more then 10 minutes for me. When you arrive you think it's going to be a long wait but it actually goes by fast and the staff are quick and to the point. I didn't mind my experience at all. Will come back to this place when it's needed. read more

So, I went to try to get admissions test on my car on Friday May 23, 2014. What a waste a resources. They were closed Friday for Memorial Day Weekend when that day is not celebrated until Monday. I can see if they closed Sunday and Monday. read more
