Just went. In and out immediately. I went directly to the self-service kiosk. $10 instead of $14. Yeah just a $4 savings, but I also saved 20 minutes by not getting in line with everyone else at the full-service lanes. Fir me, time equals money. Lots of folks complaining that the kiosk is busted. It's fine now. Very easy to use -- they made it so that a 6th grader can use it (though I hope there aren't any 6th graders driving). By far the most difficult part is plugging the cable into your car's OBD port. Some cars are easy. Others ... not so much. So bring your paperwork from the MVA with the bar code as well as a credit card. In and out! And open 24/7. read more

I've come to this location over the last 13 yrs since moving to the area. No issues. They have about 6 pull-in spots and it's always fully staffed so, things tend to move quickly. I will say, I haven't found the self kiosk thing that's referenced on my mailer that would save me $4. This time, I came at about about 11a on a Wednesday. My wait was less than 5 mins. Can someone PLEASE explain why these "self-service kiosks" even exist?!!! I thought I was being efficient to go to one of these as they are advertised as being 24 hours a day!!! However imagine my dismay when I drove all the way to this location only to find out this kiosk was out of service! You may wonder why I seem annoyed. Well friend, I will tell ya! This was my 2nd attempt to try and use the self service kiosk in one day. Originally, I went to the one located much closer to my home in Beltsville. But guess what?!!! Surprise, Surprise that one was also out of service!! I do not understand why the state of Maryland would advertise a service that is not available. This is not unique to me I have since learned, other individuals too have met the same misfortune, over a series of a course of months. *Cough* SO if the machine is not functioning, and will not be operational regularly, let's discontinue the service!! It is already difficult enough to try to go through the regular vehicle emissions process on a normal business day. As a consumer, I expect a service to be offered and provided when it advertised. But especially when said service is a MANDATORY requirement. I'm VERY disappointed I wasted a significant portion of my morning where I thought I was getting ahead. In fact I now will need to take personal time off of work to get this service done before the expiration date. read more

I used the self-service kiosk this morning. When you pull into the entrance, go right around the building and there is a sign to the kiosk, which is located on the right side of the building. It's cheaper than regular emissions testing completed by an MVA employee--$10 vs $14. It's very easy, and took me less than 5 minutes. There's a video on the MVA website that shows you how to use the self-service kiosk. I recommend watching it if you've never used the kiosk. read more

I recently gave the self-service kiosk a try on my 2014 Kia. It was extremely easy. You follow the directions, and the directions are literally step-by-step, so it could be easy for someone to try and rush ahead. But it takes very little time. It communicated with my car just fine and passed. This was very simple AND it saves you a few bucks over having the staff test your car. Perhaps I was lucky or perhaps the Governor read the other review here on Yelp telling him that he can make this better. The self serve Kiosk is a POS at the Columbia, MD location. It's down more than it's up. I waited behind 2 cars who had no luck only to experience the same, a broken machine that walks you through the steps and then says "sorry, we can read your vehicle ID, your money will be refunded to your credit card. The real kick in the Azz is I witnessed about 10 other cars after me experience the same thing while finally driving around to the regular line. Not only did I have to pay $14.00 instead of $10.00, but when I informed the attendant of the problem he said "yeah, it's like that all the time...people always complaining". The staff was friendly, and there was not a big wait. I got there at 9:30, and was pulling out at 9:42. I gotta say it was a good day!

The self service kiosk was broken on two separate visits (in span of over 2 weeks). On second trip it was not marked as out of order so you have to circle the building yet again. I suggested to manager upon first visit to put a sign to reduce traffic circling around but still no sign (sigh...). First visit, the attendant wasn't very pleasant and slow. The second visit, the young lady was very quick and easy to communicate with. Tip: If you have any serious work done on your car you need to wait at least a week before they can do a reading (thus my 2 trips). read more

Only Veip Station I have been to where the employees are not sweating or mean. The inspector very pretty cool helped me out the car, handled my card with care ( not like the others places where they handle your credit card like Monopoly Money) and even asked me did I want a chair to sit and wait as opposed to forwarding me to the waiting stall. read more

Incredible service!!! In-and-out in 5-6 minutes!!! Only paid $29!! I initially went to "BM" Auto Service for inspection and the guy was a cut-and-dry jerk and was probably from some corrupt Eastern European country. He wanted $60 and a 3-hour wait!!! (I think "BM" stands for Bowel Movement Auto Service). I left BM and went to Panera, and then found the VEIP on my phone- and headed straight over there. Anyway, at the VEIP, I don't remember the woman's ID number, but she was excellent!!! There was no wait!!! Again, it took 5-6 minutes; tops. The longest process was getting out of my car and swiping my card. I highly recommend using this location!! GO THERE BEFORE GOING ANYWHERE ELSE. These kiosks are junk after about 20 tries to read my credit card I finally got past this step and hooked up the OBD to my car only for it to fail to link to my cars computer. I tried to redo the test only to be prompted that I had to wait 10 mins before I could try again. So I wait...repeat the credit card fails about 20 more times and then finally! On the second try I get the OBD to link with the car and pass. For something that is advertised as convenient it sure is rather inconvenient. For all the money the state of maryland weasles out of our pockets you would think they can manage to have something as simple as kiosks to work properly sadly I'm not surprised. read more

For all my drivers out there this is the emission spot to go to. I drove up and had one car in front of me. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I asked why they were so empty, They responded that everyone goes to the one off of 29. This spot is located on Broken land parkway by the Exxon by Steven Forest. Check it out. read more

I just went to the kiosk in Columbia, MD for my first time on 7/17/18 at 8 pm and it would not accept my credit card. I tried a second one and still didn't work.
