I have always had a good experience at this post office. The staff members are friendly, willing to answer questions and patient. They wats explain mailing options which helps me make the best decisions for my packages. At times the line can be long with 1-2 people helping the customers. read more

Friday, 8 May 2026, at 10:22 am, I walked into this USPS Elkridge branch and asked for an overnight service, saying that my wife just left Elkridge, MD for Atlanta, GA; that she forgot her prescription glasses; that she would return Sunday on the morning of May 10, 2026. Could you deliver her glasses the next day, which is Saturday? The young lady at the desk said, yes, absolutely. So, I paid $35.90 for the next day service. Earlier today, Saturday, 9 May 2026, 10:30 am, I checked the tracking online; I saw "Scheduled for delivery, Saturday, May 2026 by 6:00 pm." It is now 6:23 pm. At the time of writing this review, It says the same thing. "Scheduled for delivery, Saturday, May 2026 by 6:00 pm." (See the screenshot below). My wife leaves Atlanta tomorrow for Elkridge, MD. She would be probably be back home here in Elkridge when the packed addressed to her is delivered. Right now, I'm so upset that I'm fit to be tied. Why, what was the point of USPS charging me $35.90 for a service? The purpose of the next day service is, defeated. The $35.90, down the drain? Who is going to pay for shipping back the glasses? Shouldn't the USPS, at the minimum refund my $35.90, plus pay for returning the package back to Elkridge, Maryland? Anyone have any idea what to do? United States Post Office - Update USPS mess up - Post Offices Near Me - Elkridge, Maryland

As a frequent post office patron, I am usually very understanding at my local branch when the wait is slow, the employees seem to be having a less friendly rough day, and/or some needed transaction is not possible (i.e they're out of stamps, don't know how to mail something & I find myself explaining)- but this location....I can't give any benefit of the doubt or understanding- the staff was just unprofessional & rude to each customer in line, no matter what type of transaction, and everything went extremely slow. About 5th in line when I arrived, I should have given up & went to my local spot by observing 1 or two before me, as the staff clearly hate their jobs-walking away from customers, mumbling, sighing, rolling their eyes for small things-like asking for a pen, or looking over the options of stamp designs- then if something wasn't an easy enough task, like say the guy with a lot of passport questions, they made it feel like it was painful for them to take time to answer. If I didn't have a time sensitive package, I wouldn't have waited. Worst post office I've been to in many a year- and it wasn't even a holiday rush experience. read more

I don't understand why post offices' customer service ladies are so unfriendly and often rude. Do they hate their jobs so take it out on the customers who just need a package sent. - mail dropped or buy a book of stamps? Are they unionized to be just rude across the country? If I could give a 0 stars Bad customer service and they were not friendly or speak clearly when you asked questions. They rescheduled me for my appointment for passports bc the agent had to leave early so we did came at the time they asked but she had a bad actitud bc the costumers before us were taking too long I suppose. She kept saying "God give patients" while walking away. Than when it was out turn she keep saying to her coworkers "I can't take this anymore"... I have no idea what I did, other than asked a few questions passport related. Then I had to come back 2 times bc she forgot to have me sign for my two minors. After a week I received a mail from the passport place saying that I need to write an statement bc I piercing on my face (micro dermals) saying that I do wear them regularly. Agent NEVER mentioned anything about that and she was the one taking my passport picture! Also my application wasn't signed since she was in such of rush to get out of work even though we had an appointment, time for closing was about 2hrs after my appointment. It was very unfair to us. I payed extra so we can make our trip in less than 3 months. I hope we didn't waste our money And they hire people in this location that actually wants to work!!!! read more

Calm down everyone ! Please keep in mind, these are Government Employees, not Private Firm EE's. The Government does not compete with anyone, so the service is not going to be top Notch ! Question, have you been to the DMV lately? They really are the same across the board, because this is not Customer Service, it's Civil Service. No matter how nice or not nice they are, their salaries are going to be the same. No recognition, No Bonuses or No Thank you from Management. The Reward is a lifetime job, good benefits & great pay. This is the absolute worst Post Office I've dealt with in 40 years living up and down the east coast. They lose packages, don't deliver but claim packages are delivered to stay out of trouble, and leave packages at you garage door that you don't see when backing up (instead of delivering to front door as they are supposed to). Unfortunately they don't care and will not hire competent people that try. There's no accountability or consequences of poor ratings. Terrible service, I went to renew a passport. And the workers attitude was outrages. The man named Tim was very helpful but the other 2 girls weren't very welcoming. I believe Burr was the name of the girl that attended us and she kept rolling her eyes and making rude gestures. I suggest if your going for any passport related services to avoid going here. But if it's just something quick like mailing something it's fine since you don't interact much with the workers. If I could I would give zero stars since in my opinion it is unacceptable to constantly roll your eyes at your costumers, since we were paying for a service. read more

If I could rate this joke of a service with a minus ten stars I would. I mailed an envelope from Nottingham, MD on 1/16/21 priority mail 1day delivery to Silver spring, MD. I'm not delusional and didn't think that would actually happen. On 1/26/21 I received notice not that it had been delivered but that it arrived at freaking downtown Baltimore distribution center. 10 days to go 10 miles or so. For some reason this Post Office is slower than ANY other Post Office I've frequented. Sadly, they don't appear to care either. I realize the Postal Service is struggling financially since the advent of online bill pay, etc. But subjecting customers who are willing to keep it afloat by patronizing Postal Service, to unreasonably long lines and waits, is not the answer. I almost googled the closest FedEx and UPS locations for swifter alternatives. Their staffing issues at this location need some serious reassessing. But I digress, because I'm certain no Postal Service manager or HR rep is reading our Yelp reviews. Which would be indicative of Postal Service caring. I have mixed emotions about postal offices in Maryland. All kinds of experiences, not in a pleasant way. Customer service is non existent, which is a shame. Changes of addresses, forwarding mail, cashing money orders, all is horrible. It's been an experience for sure when we moved to Maryland. We come here only as needed, as it is our postal office. We visited two different locations when we got here, all rude people telling us we had to go to our post office. And don't get me started with postal carriers. They could care less in what box they put your mail. If you get something in your box that is not yours, you might as well take it to the post office because they don't care what you do with it. THIS IS THE WORST establishment. And they wonder why the USPS is unprofitable.. Because of incompetent people and no change even after all of these reviews?!?!?!? All packages are late. I try not to go here if I have to, but it's the closest and most conveniently located one for me. As with some reviewers, it's my "home" post office, so I use it to pick up held mail, to send a package, or pick up something that required a signature but wasn't home for that. No matter when I go, whether if I'm there when they open up and it's not too busy, or peak periods (which is almost any other time of day), I generally have found the staff to be rather cold. They're very sullen and not cordial or the friendliest bunch. It's like they would rather do "behind the scenes" work instead of dealing with customers. By not warmly greeting and helping out customers in a *positive* manner (as you would want to expect from any business), this rubs off and gets reciprocated. It also doesn't help that a lot of the customers don't come prepared. They tie up the line while they're still working on some kind of paperwork, or they're bringing in loose items to determine what kind shipping package they need, or still are in the middle of working out shipping information if they're sending something. Under these circumstances, the staff, probably frustrated enough as it is, usually pointedly tells the customer to finish their work and then get back in line. This is only from personal observation of others, and fortunately not experience. And service is SLOW, whether if they have enough people up front or not. Another issue is that this location seems to have a knack for delivering packages that simply disappear even though it was marked as "delivered" or not showing up until a day or two afterwards. Sometimes I would be home, monitoring my package status. It'd say it arrived at the Elkridge USPS, that it was out for delivery, that it was left in the mailbox/mailroom area of my residence. Then when I went to retrieve the package, it was nowhere to be found! Lost? Stolen? Misdelivered? In those occasions, the missing packages I was able to resolve through Amazon, eBay, etc. Also whatever goes on during sorting over there, at least once a week I'm getting my neighbor's mail from another unit. The only good thing I can say about this USPS is at least my mail gets delivered fairly early, usually late morning/early noon. read more

IN A WORD: DEPLORABLE!! Poor customer service (which means this branch is poorly managed). In addition, many staffers seem to have attitudes. There are always long waits (even when lines are short), and I have a consistently bad experience with each visit. In fact, I try to avoid this location, but it's the closest location to my home. As such, I must drive additional miles for satisfactory service. If the staff members do not like their jobs, I am certain there are qualified individuals who would be happy to work here and perform their duties in a professional manner. I am compelled to write a review because I am still bothered by the ridiculous treatment I received yesterday. It was my 1st time at this location with my mother who just moved to Elkridge and I was attempting to get a mail box key. First off, I received completely incorrect information from staff there who insisted that they do not provide this service to the street my mother resides on. I knew that was inaccurate due to what I was told by the previous owner. But one really NASTY employee (large female with blonde hair in a ponytail) was so rude, disrespectful and downright HOOD that all she did was raise her voice, hiss, shake her head and disrespect me with comments like..."What part of what I just said don't YOU understand?" She was so outrageously nasty other customers waiting in the post office were shaking their head in disgust and looking at me with a sympathetic look. FINALLY, after waiting 17 minutes, I spoke with a manager who resolved the issue and I was able to get mailbox keys. I explained to the manager the outrageous conduct of the nasty employee and how she was a total discredit to his staff and the US POSTAL SERVICE and helps support the stereotype many have about postal employees. The manager did say he would address the issue, but I am not certain that given the conduct I experienced yesterday that it is not well known and accepted conduct at this location. Mind you, I never raised my voice nor disrespected this nasty employee the entire time. A day later from this horrific experience, I feel it is imperative to voice my experience in writing due to the outrageous and unnecessary demeaning conduct of this employee I experienced. I would like to end with that there was a very nice smaller postal employee with braids who was very nice and professional and ended up helping me with my mailbox transaction. Rudest customer service I ever dealt with. They really need to take a look at their workers. The same girl that gave me attitude gave everyone attitude. I really hope they take a look at this employee and maybe put her through some sort of classes on how to treat the public? She also talks very openly and loud about other customers she had to help. It's comical how bad this place is. I used to live in the area covered by the Savage, MD office - I never had any problems in the last 12 years of living in that area. Moved to Elkridge 6 months ago, and already I've had 2 lost packages and several packages that failed to deliver to my new address. If you look around at all the other USPS places in the area, you'll see that all of them are around a 3.0 average. This one is solidly 1.0 as of this writing, and they really deserve it. There is one really nice, hardworking worker there. A very nice lady. Other than that, it's really been poor. I seriously am considering using UPS/Fedex from now on at this point. read more

If I could give them a negative 2 stars I would. They almost always deliver mail late. My mail Carrier will scan my packages the day they are supposed to be delivered but I don't get them until the next day. Then when I call the post office looking for it, because the tracking says it was delivered but I never received it, one of three things happens. They never answer the phone, the answer and put you on hold for an hour, or they answer and put you on hold and NEVER come back. Calling the 800 number is more useless because they just tell you to call the local post office. I'm always getting some one else's mail, it's like, dude you have one job... If I could stop using the post office I'd surely opt out of that service because here in Maryland, THEY SUCK! read more

They have such a bad USPS service unlike other USPS where people are cordial and warm. They lost my package or forgot to put my package in the mailbox which is very small..and can fit into my mailbox. I called to track it down and they said its delivered and then when i call couple of times more, they say they found it..which means they forgot the package and then also lied that they delivered. Then I go to the USPS to pick up the package. I am the second person in line. It still took me almost 20 mins for my package which was right infront of me. One lady shift was over, so she went inside without asking someone else to help me and the other lady who is supposed to take charge also went inside and they were chatting for a while..when people were waiting in line for help. I just could not believe it. If you guys are going here to pick up a lost package, be sure to call them and make sure that its with them and ask them to do thorough search and then go to pick it up. Would give 0 stars if possible. One star for the sympathetic counter clerk who was able to retrieve one of my missing parcels. Haven't gotten mail delivered for two weeks (neighbors also haven't gotten mail in 2 weeks) Post Master has no customer service skills, hangs up the phone on you, puts you on permanent hold and never returns, or is MIA. Customer service rep basically accusing us of lying about our mail situation. Carriers don't seem to care about fulfilling their job duties. This post office is an absolute disgrace. read more

The mail carriers out of this location are totally awesome people - friendly and hard-working. My only complaint is with the organization of the delivery routes out of this post office. The mail carriers are completely overloaded with routes that seem to combine too many residential stops with commercial ones. This is self serving, but it seems like it would make more sense to split up these types of stops since people's homes don't close at 5 but many of the office park locations do. My office sometimes goes multiple days without receiving our mail, and it's not the fault of the mail carriers. read more

This post office is TERRIBLE!! I was suppose to have a package delivered to me on Thursday but it was never delivered. I called and talked to Resse and he acted like he searched for my package, and gave me incorrect information, I hate when businesses send stuff through USPS because I know this post office sucks, the USPS wonder why they are losing business. It's because of people like the ones working here. I will be going up there on Monday and raising hell. It is a federal crime to hold individuals mail. More people need to gather together and file a claim. This post office NEEDS change or get shutdown. If I could rate them in the negatives I would. I have left TWO messages in my mailbox. This is the worst run post office I have ever been in. There was a long line almost out the door and there were two agents and few kept walking back and forth and never offered to help. I got a notice a package was delivered to my front door however when checking out cameras nothing was delivered and now my precious package is missing and it was a one of a kind item I had ordered.
