I had to ask a security guard where I could drop the package off and get a receipt. When I arrived at that area, there were no others in line. I went to the first open register area, handed the USPS worker my box and asked for a receipt. She quickly provided me one and we wished each other a good day. I was in and out in less than 3 minutes. No complaints.

Google, directions to a Post Office near me. This one is in the cut, like in its own little cul-de-sac. If I was driving and looking, I never would have found it. Plenty of parking spaces and looked well maintained from the outside. Even when going inside, it was orderly. There was a gentleman at the window and about four people in front of me. The postal employee was explaining to the gentleman that she needed to know the country where the package was going. He didn't seem to understand, and they were both getting frustrated. The gentleman finally asked for the supervisor. The supervisor came out and handled the situation with professionalism. She explained to the gentleman that he had to complete another slip for his package; it required more detailed information. After that was settled, the line moved fairly quickly. I like that these employees actually had on Post Office attire/uniforms and they were speaking to me (not at me). I actually prefer this one to my local PO. I'll most likely try to come here instead to mail my packages.

A relatively small affair with only 3 counters and usually 2 workers, this location never seems to be too busy, usually with nary a wait. If this is a whole new team I apologize but they seem much happier and busy now that they are on a more main road. Do you think you could track it?" Like, wow. That being said, the clearly overworked guy behind the counter was nice. He was going as quickly as he could, trying to read people's minds. I don't envy his job, but at least somebody's doing it so that our mail is moving around.

The Roland Park USPS, located just…read moreoff of Roland Ave near to the public library, the elementary school, and a cute little shopping section with an Eddie's grocery, a Tuxedo pharmacy, and at least one children's book/toy store, is pretty much the embodiment of a small-town post office in the heart of leafy, comfortably middle-class North Baltimore. It's an intimate, even cramped, space, but no one seems to mind. They are in Roland Park, after all! People smile, wait patiently in line, chat on cell phones, exchange friendly banter with the staff, and generally seem to enjoy their visit. Parking in the nearby garage is super easy, and you can even hit the Starbucks across the street for a post-postal caffeine fix. This is the sort of USPS that Norman Rockwell would have loved. It almost doesn't seem real now, in retrospect, esp. after having been to so many alienating USPS branches with angry customers, long lines, and frazzled employees who never seem to wipe the permanent frowns from their faces. Healthy neighborhoods need more than green lawns, good schools, and McMansions (those I could do w/out). They certainly can stand to lose a few of the gated communities and cookie-cutter FedEx/Kinko's stores that spring up like mushrooms after a fall or winter rain. Healthy communities need public spaces - green ones, of course - but also public services and well-run private islands of essential commerce. This part of Roland Park has such things: historic, exposed-brick houses, more excellent schools than you could ever imagine, great little tree-lined side streets where children, squirrels, and joggers play, and a really nice little post office on Deepdene Road. I recommend this location however always check with the hours they're open Monday through Friday 10 to 1 and then re-open 2pm to 4 pm even though it says on the website that they're open till five they close at 4 PM.
