First, there's an area where you can drop off your letters and packages, a self-service area to buy stamps and to ship your own boxes, smart lockers to pick up your post office packages more easily, and more. The next area is the actual post office service area, where you stand in line. Now, the waiting room counter area is bigger. The line moves along the counter, so no longer do I have to kick packages forward (unless the package is huge - there's a joke in there somewhere), and I can place my packages on the counter and move them forward. I just had the easiest time shipping out all my holiday gifts because I placed them on the counter and moved them along easily. Thank you, counter! The service here is always professional, friendly, and fun. The line length usually sucks, but I understand that's not anyone's fault. But the workers here always seem to be in good spirits, so I can't be annoyed at the wait time for long when they are so friendly. The post office is WAY more space efficient, and the renovations - while lengthy - were totally worth the wait! The only suggestion I heard while waiting in line is for there to be music playing in the background. That would definitely perk my spirits up even more, but it may make it harder to talk to the cashier unless it is playing at a low volume. Just a suggestion, Oxnard USPS!

This is one of the worst post offices I've been to. The clerks seem to be nice but several packages…read morewhich I scanned in my pre-paid label at the self-service kios, then drop them in the box right next to it inside the post office mysteriously disappear, never to be seen again. When I file a claim, they always don't pay even though the package is insured because they state they never had possession of the package. Basically scanning a package in at the kios does absolutely nothing. A warning even pops up and says "Scanning a prepaid label here does not guarantee package acceptance." When talking to the managers, they have told me things like "they don't scan packages in anymore because they are short staffed" and they rely on them to be scanned at their main hub instead. Then I spoke to a different manager and he tells me they are suppose to scan all packages in that get dropped off. When I explain to them how many packages I've had go missing here, they just say sorry. The only solution is to stand in the long line and have a clerk scan your package in. The reason why I don't just drop them in the blue mailboxes on the street is because I've had packages go missing there too. There is some serious theft going on within the postal network of this town.

I won't be finding out if the new owners have ANY of those qualities - they don't seem to - because I'll use one of the other locations from now on. I've shipped things to my daughter from the Victoria location numerous times, so I know both myself and she are in the UPS database. I gave my daughter's address to the counter lady four times, plus my own phone number. When I had repeated "Portland, Oregon" four times, the counter lady then asked "what country?"... Sorry, but these people are too stupid to deserve anyone's trust, let alone anyone's business. I drove over to the store next to WinCo, where I'd never been before, and they found my info almost before I finished setting the package on the counter. Both this store and the Petit location are, you guessed it, "friendly, efficient, and professional", and have earned my business going forward. Which is great because it's hard to believe the Victoria store could be in business for long (P.S. I was VERY rude to them as I left...and I'm NOT sorry).
